Author's note:

Guest : Thank you, I'm also happy to say that chapters will be posted much more frequently now.

Erik-is-my-angel1234 : I think I finally learned to post those chapters sooner but I'm just sooo lazy...

SectumSemprae : I was always thinking that sleeping must be something terrifying for Waylon. I mean, when he wakes up, he may not even be conscious being anymore. The very thought of waking up as an animal makes me shiver...

nadillaandlaprasthefireandice : Yeah, with all those fangs gone, Waylon is suddenly way more huggable :)

Masquerade man1234 : Thank you kindly for the review :)

P.S If anyone of you is looking for a more light-hearted, goofy story, then you may want to check out my new fic, "Making Hahas with Harley Quinn". It's pretty short for now, but I've got plenty of chapters ahead.

On our way through the sewers, I couldn't help but notice that Waylon wasn't holding up very well. I saw how he tried to conceal it, but sooner or later, his breath became much heavier.

"Maybe...", I tried to suggest a short break, but suddenly, Waylon raised up his hand; I stopped talking and look around.

"What is it ?", I whispered.

"There's a thug ahead of us.", he answered.

"I don't see him.", I said. I barely saw Waylon and he was standing in front of me; it was too dark.

"Being a reptile man ain't pretty, but it's got its upside. Like having a sight of a crocodile."

"How far is he ?", I asked.

"Far enough. Wait here. And before you tell me that you can take care of yourself: I know. But I want to fight for as long as I can.", he said shortly.

I just sighed. "Okay then. Go. But if something happens..."

"I know."

He then made his way into the darkness, disappearing in it. After what seemed to be an eternity but could just as well be a minute, I heard a gunfire and screams, and a slight spark appeared far away.

After a second, I heard Waylon's voice. "It's done !", he shouted.

He was waiting for me, next to a body of a dead goon. He was literally ripped in half.

I grabbed my stomach, leaned forward and puked on the ground, seeing the organs which were normally seen only in biology books.

"Sorry about that.", he said.

"That's... that's awful."

Waylon gently patted my back. "We gotta keep going.", he said. He looked sorry for how he made me feel, although I knew he couldn't risk his life just so I would feel better.

As soon as we started to walk, I noticed the same thing that I noticed earlier. He was getting tired, his breath was getting louder and more irregular.

"Maybe you should rest for a moment ?"

"I'm fine.", he said and started to walk faster.

"No, you're not.", I said, catching up to him.

"When I say I'm fine, I'm fine. Besides, we gotta hurry. Freeze's my only hope now."

"You may not even reach the police station if you won't rest."

He just continued to walk, as if I wasn't here.

"Stop for a moment..."

"I said I'm fine, for fuck's sake !", he turned to me, showing his fangs. His eyes were full of anger; his irises became reptilian.

For a moment, I was really scared. For a moment, he became so... unfamiliar.

But only for a moment.

His irises became round again, his expression suddenly changed. He looked like he was surprised.

"I'm... I'm sorry."

I didn't say anything, I just placed my hand on his forearm.

He sat against the wall and I sat on his laps, hugging him.

"I... I don't know... what happened.", he said.

I didn't know what to say, so I just listened instead.

"I... I guess I'm not used to somebody... well... 'caring' about me."

"It's okay. Just try to get some sleep. I'll take the watch.", I said.

Waylon pulled me closer to himself and closed his eyes. He looked so peacefully now. He didn't resembled the angry animal he looked like just a moment ago.

When I woke up, I felt something was wrong. This feeling again. But worse.

My scales were falling off again, but this time I also felt as my muscles and bones were growing and ripping my skin. I wanted to scream, but I only heard a roar. Alice watched everything in terror, laying on the ground. Now I was on all four, feeling a tail errupting from my back. I tried to say something, but only one word escaped my mouth, which now resembled that of a true crocodile.

"Feed..."

My limbs moved against my will, my jaws started to snap in fury. I tried to stop myself, but I couldn't; I just watched helplesly as Alice was devoured alive...

Waylon suddenly woke up, screaming loudly. He stood up, pushing me away from him. He immediately fell on the ground, holding his head as if he was in pain. He was breathing quickly and irregularly; he then looked around the corridor we were in. His breath slowly stabilized; I noticed his irises were reptilian again, but this time rather from fear, not anger.

"A-alice ?"

I was shocked, but I managed to pull myself together. "Waylon, calm down, everything's fine.", I said. "What... what happened ?"

"It... it was a nigthmare.", he said.

I came closer, trying to comfrot him, but he immediately stood up and said "We should go. Now."

He didn't even wait for my response; he continued our way through the sewers. I tried to walk next to him, but he kept speeding up.

"Slow down.", I said.

"No... I mean... if... if we'll meet another gang member, it will be better if I'll see him first. Bulletproof skin, remember ?", he said nervously and sped up again. He was now walking ten steps in front of me. Ten HIS steps. Something about fifty feet.

I ran to him and grabbed his hand; he was startled when I did so.

"I think it will be better if we stick together.", I said. He just looked at me with frightened expression.

"Okay... just... stay behind me. For safety."

I did so, but I couldn't help but think he was doing his best not to look at me.

"Listen, if you want to talk about this dream..."

"I don't."

Here. Years spent on studying psychology weren't wasted.

"Listen, it couldn't be so bad..."

"It was worse than bad."

"It was just a dream."

"No. You don't understand.", he said, still frightened. "Nobody does."

Now I was getting annoyed.

"What could possibly be so scary to threaten you ?", I asked.

"It wasn't about me."
