Next Chapter
Disclaimer: I don't own Pokemon nor Harry Potter... I own August, James and I guess you could say the story though it follows the 3rd Harry Potter book as its base story line but I made it an AU. *Shrugs*
There's a * somewhere in this chapter and I linked that to an author's comment down at the bottom.
Outside...
Ash threw the poke-ball up and released the blue frog Pokémon.
"Oh cool, Ash's Froakie!" Harry awed. He always admired the Pokémon that Ash brought home, especially if the Pokémon was from a place that Harry had not gone to yet.
Hermione frowned. "A Froakie?"
Derek, who was feeling benevolent, held up his Poke-dex. Froakie, the Bubble Frog Pokémon. From its chest and back, Froakie creates bubbles called Frubbles, which act as a cushion and soften the blow of an opponent's attack.
"Froakie's one of Ash's newest Pokémon," Brock said before looking over at August's side of the field. "I wonder what August is going to do." He muttered.
August contemplated her options. Blaze and Squirt staring at her intently from the positions on her shoulders.
"Squirtle-squirt squir, squirt." Squirtle voiced.
Blaze seemed to agree. "Char!"
August shrugged, playing with the poke-ball around her neck. "Dunno, Blaze, you're at a disadvantage, Butter's down, most of my Pokémon I need for teaching purposes." August listed. "Also Ash knows almost all the tricks of the Pokémon I have on me… Meh," August pulled out a poke-ball. "Venonat!" she tossed the poke-ball up into the air. A purple fur ball with large red bug eyes and a pair of antennas appeared.
"Ven-no-NAT!" It cried in an electrical, fuzzy voice.
Neville blinked. "That's a bug Pokémon, right?" he asked.
Tracey nodded. "Venonat can use its eyes to function as radar allowing it to see in the dark. Really handy."
Draco studied Tracey suspiciously. "Sounds like you're talking from experience." He accused.
Tracey smiled and fingered a poke-ball on his belt. "You could say…"
Ash smirked. "So you brought out Venonat."
"Venonat's gotten a lot stronger from the last time you fought." August warned.
Ash frowned at the memory of battling Venonat. "I hope so." He muttered, mostly to himself as a silent plea.
Squirt pumped his little fist. "Squirt!"
"Alright then, Froakie, Bubble!" Ash ordered.
Froakie let lose a stream of bubbles which struck Venonat in the face.
"Veeeenn!" Venonat fell over. Venonat wiggled his feet frantically, trying to stand back up. Many in the crowd looked at the purple Pokémon with disbelief, sweat dropping at an alarming rate. Ash sighed.
August face palmed. "Venonat, you have to dodge attacks."
Hearing his master's voice, Venonat jumped to his feet. "Vennnooo!" He cooed.
Derek scoffed. "This should be a quick battle." He guessed.
"Why?" Neville asked.
Derek rolled his eyes. "That sorry excuse for a Pokémon won't last long."
"Hey Derek, be nice." Harry countered. "Venonat is just extremely docile."
Ash rubbed the back of his head. "You good to go?" he asked awkwardly.
August nodded and gave a cocky smile. "Don't underestimate us Ashy, Venonat, Tackle!"
Venonat charged forward.
"Froakie! Dodge it and use Frubble!" Ash called.
August frowned. "Frubble?"
Froakie dodged to the left and reached behind him, pulling the bubbles from his neck and throwing them at Venonat.
Venonat rolled out of the way of several bundles but eventually one bundle of foam hit Venonat in the foot. Venonat tried to free himself but discovered that his foot was stuck.
"Water Pulse!" Ash called.
Froakie charged up a blue water sphere before throwing it.
"Venonat!" August shouted as the attack hit her Pokémon, making him go flying.
"Froakie, Pound!"
Venonat quickly jumped his feet only to be knocked back again when Froakie came and smack him.
"Froakie used its frubble?" Derek questioned, clearly unhappy that he did not understand.
Harry thought for a moment. "Ash told me Froakie made that move up; it's more for immobilizing the opponent so Froakie can attack."
"That's pretty obvious after that water attack." Draco muttered, scratching Usha's head.
"Bre."
"Froakie, Bubble!"
"Venonat, you have to dodge!" August shouted.
"Fro!" Froakie let loose another stream of bubbles, Venonat rolled out of the way.
"Good, now use Tackle!"
Venonat ran forward.
"Dodge it!"
Froakie barely had enough time to jump out of the way.
"Venonat, Signal Beam!"
Venonat turned to face Froakie and let loose a purplish beam, striking Froakie in the back. Froakie cried out in pain but managed to land on his feet and face Venonat again.
"Venonat didn't know that move last time." Ash muttered. "Froakie, Use Pound on the ground!" *
Froakie gripped his fists tight and pounded the ground, kicking up the dirt and creating a cloud of dust, encasing Venonat and Froakie.
"Great now no one can see!" Draco sighed.
Tracey smiled. "Not everyone." He reminded.
"You forgot about Venonat's radar, Venonat!" August called. "Find Froakie!" With giving that command, August closed her eyes.
Venonat looked around and noticed Froakie's shape 45 degrees to the left. "VEN-Nat!" Venonat went in for a tackle.
"Squirtle!"
"CHAR!"
August's eyes shot open. "Wait, Venonat!"
Inside, Hospital Wing...
James stared out one of the many windows of the infirmary, watching the battle with an impassive look. Though his legs were a bit wobbly, he used the window sill to steady himself.
Lucario walked up beside him. 'Master, you should me resting."
"Who cares." James shot back, glaring at his pokemon before shifting his gaze back down at the battle.
Lucario bowed. 'Forgive me, Master, I spoke out of turn.'
James shook his head. "Why do you keep calling me master?"
'You are my trainer after all, I am obligated to follow your command.'
James was silent for a moment before saying. "What was that blue stuff? When I closed my eyes during the Quidditch match?" he asked.
'That was aura, its spiritual energy that resides in all beings.'
"That's it huh? ... Then why?"
LUcario stared at his trainer. 'I'm sorry, I don't...'
"Why can I see aura, why can you talk with me, in my head, why can I do this?" James demanded, holding up his palm. He concentrated, after a pain-staking minute, a small, unstable orb of blue energy began to form. Lucario stared at it suprised. James released the energy and leaned against the wall, panting for breath.
'That... I amazed you summoned aura to you hand with your inexperience and the weak state your in.' Lucario said, his tone betraying slight awe.
James took a break from his panting and glared at Lucario. "So, are you going to explain?"
'There are humans that can sense aura and control its power. Long ago these people who had this unique ability to control aura, were known as Aura Guardians. They traveled around the world doing good deeds and passing on their teaching to those who had this ability to control aura. That boy battling, Mr. Ash Ketchum can control aura as well though he has not had proper training.'
James glanced out the window and down at Ash. After a brief moment he looked back at Lucario who continued speaking.
'I speak to you with my aura so that I may communicate through telepathy.'
"I see." James murmured before looking at Lucario again. "I want you to teach me how to use aura."
Lucario gave a small bow. 'It would be an honor."
James gave no response but just looked back out the window. His eyes making contact with Harry's back. A deep frown formed on the boy's face before he turned away.
Outside...
Venonat looked around and noticed Froakie's shape 45 degrees to the left. "VEN-Nat!" Venonat went in for a tackle.
"Squirtle!"
"CHAR!"
August's eyes shot open. "Wait, Venonat!"
Hermione's lips formed a frowned. "What happened?"
"The cloud's settling." Seviper muttered. The dust had settled enough to see that Venonat had actually hit a frubble blob that looked like Froakie. Venonat desperately tried to free his head from the gunk. August frowned at Ash's smiling face.
"So Froakie can make clones of himself too." August thought. "But where's the real one?"
"Froakie now!" Ash called. Froakie jumped out of the remaining dust cloud that had acted as his cover, ready to pound.
"FRO!" Froakie hit Venonat.
"VEN-o-NAT!" Augusto's Pokémon cried as he hit the ground.
"Froakie finish this with Water Pulse!" Ash ordered. Froakie charged forward as Venonat stumbled to his feet.
"So it's over." Hermione thought.
"Venonat!" August called. "Leech Life!" Little glowing lights left Froakie's body and entered into Venonat's. It was noticeable that Venonat's wounds seemingly disappeared. Froakie flinched, his water pulse disappeared.
"What happened?" Ron muttered from where he was standing with his sister.
"That was a bug type move… like Leech Seed, i..it takes away the opponent's HP and restores the user's." Neville muttered softly.
Brock nodded. "Correct," He tapped his forehead. "Man, Venonat didn't know that the last time they battled."
"I guess Venonat really did improve." Cilan acknowledged.
Froakie quickly jumped away but Venonat ran after him. "Tackle!" August shouted. Venonat slammed into Froakie.
"Fro!"
"Froakie! Bubbles!" Ash called.
Froakie recovered and shot out a stream of bubbles. Seeing this, Venonat looked a little panicky.
"Venonat, Signal Beam!" Augusto shouted. Calming down, Venonat released a bright beam. Both beams collided causing a small explosion and another dust cloud.
"Frokaie, get out of there!" Ash ordered. Froakie jumped up above the cloud.
"Venonat, Zen Headbutt!" August called.
Venonat appeared out of the dust. The top of his head glowed blue as Venonat drove into Froakie. Both dropped down to the ground, Froakie hit the ground K.O.
"They did it!" Hermione cheered along with the students.
Harry jumped into the air, pumping his fist. "YA!"
Derek folded his arms. "I can't believe that clumsy bug won." He muttered.
Seeing that the match was over, Professor McGonagall stepped out from the side lines. "Please go to your first period class now." She said. The students reluctantly dispersed; Ash picked Froakie up.
"You did good bud."
"Pika-pi!"
Froakie smiled. "Fro."
"VEN!" Venonat jumped at his partner
August laughed "Great job Venonat!" She congratulated as she caught her Pokémon. After a quick hug, she returned Venonat to his poke-ball as Ash did with Froakie.
Harry stood up. "I have to get to Potions, don't kill anybody." He warned directing that to his rival.
Derek shrugged. "If it's a brat? No promises."
"We'll watch him." Tracey promised.
"Siz-cor"
Derek snorted. "Yea, good luck with that."
"I don't get luck, I make it." August said interrupting them.
"Harry, we don't want to late for Potions." Hermione said.
"Okay, see ya after potions." Harry yelled as he, Neville, Draco, Hermione and their Pokémon ran off.
August clapped her hands and rubbed them. "Who's ready to work?"
"Work? I just came here to see my brother!" Ash said with a laugh.
Professor Lupin walked over. "Mr. Ketchem, it is nice to meet you again, I'm Professor Lupin, if you recall."
"I remember, Professor, and the feeling is mutual." Ash replied and shook his hand.
"If you don't mind, I would like to discuss something about Harry."
Ash looked at Pikachu, then back at Lupin. "Yea, like what?"
"Your brother has been having problems with dementors."
Ash frowned. "Yea, August told me about that."
"I can give him lessons after the holidays, there's a spell that he can us to protect himself." Lupin replied.
"How can the spell help him?" Brock asked.
"This spell is created from happy thoughts. It will deflect the dementors."
"Sounds cool." Ash said.
"Pika!"
"So after the holidays?" Cilan asked.
"Yes, I have other things to attend to before that." Lupin replied.
August smiled. "Okay, well I have first years, come guys. Thanks a lot Lupin."
"Actually I have one other thing to ask Mr. Ketchem."
Ash nodded. "I'll catch up with you guys." he said to his friends.
"Fine, I'm going to go find Harry." Derek said.
"Sci-zor." Everyone besides Ash, Pikachu and Lupin left.
Ash turned to Lupin. "What do you want to ask?"
"I find myself seeing the talent your brother holds. In a few weeks, he became one of the best students. I looked at your family line. I know there's not an ounce of magic in your blood…"
"Well we don't have wizards." Ash respond, Pikachu nodded in agreement.
"But some of from you dimension can do magic with science and those people have a bit of magic." Lupin pointed out.
Ash rubbed the back of his neck and gave a small laugh. "Oh yea, who could forget Lily."
"Lily!?" Lupin asked incredulously.
"A Pokémon Magician I met, she turned me into a Pikachu, accidentally."
"I see."
Ash looked out at the lake. "Maybe Harry's parents had a Pokémon Magician in their family." He said with a shrug.
"Wait." Lupin looked at Ash. "Harry's…."
"Adopted? Yea, he joined our house hold when he was three, I was six then."
"Pika-pi."
"If you don't mind me asking, how did Mrs. Ketchum decide to adopt Harry?" Lupin asked.
Ash thought for a moment, looking up at the sky. "Well it started from when I woke up from a dream. A Pokémon told me that someone was coming and I had to watch over him. Mom got me back into bed and left. After a bit, there was a whole bunch of commotion. I snuck to the living room. Professor Oak, Officer Jenny, Nurse Joy, they all were in the kitchen. And there was Harry, on the couch. He looked terrible. I went over and introduced myself. He was scared of me, every movement I made; he flinched."
Ash watched a Tentacruel investigate the giant squid. "He thought I was going to hurt him. I tried to feed him, he refused and…" Ash trailed off, a small smile crept upon his face. "Heheh, I convinced him to eat, I was naïve and innocent back then; and I convinced Harry that he should be… a kid." Ash gave a little laugh. "When mom came back, I asked her if he was my brother and that's how Harry joined the Ketchem's family." Ash smiled at the memory he could only vaguely remember.
"How did Harry end up on your couch?" Lupin asked.
"After mom put me to bed, she thought there was a hurt Pokémon in our garden it turned out to be Harry. Officer Jenny couldn't find any records of him anywhere…"
Pikachu, now impatient, nudged his partner. "Pika-pi?"
"You're right Pikachu, let's go eat. I hope you don't mind Professor." Harry said looking at the thoughtful Lupin.
"Oh yes, I'm sorry for holding you back. Thank you."
"Ah, you're welcome, I guess."
Pikachu pulled on his ear. "Pika-PI!"
"Ow, okay. See ya Professor!" Ash yelled as he ran inside.
Lupin smiled, once Ash had disappeared from his sight, he frowned again. "Strange… three years old with no source of heritage. Harry reminds me of my nephew Harry, could they be the same person. The problem with that; is how would Harry get from the Dursely's to another dimension?" Lupin thought to himself, he lightly scolded himself. "Curses, I should have noticed. I only saw my godson once at his third birthday. How could I have failed him?"
The breeze stirred slightly, Lupin sighed and walked back to the hall. If he had waited an extra moment, he would have seen a blue and white Pokémon standing in the middle of the lake. It gave a low growl before bounding to shore, purifying the water with each step.
* It rhymes! :P
I realized this took way to long to get out, meh, oh well.
So this is an important notice: I've reached a dead end. I don't know what to do next, I know what to do later on but don't really for the next few chapters. So if anyone wants to give me suggestions, that would be helpful.
Also, for people who don't want spoilers, don't go onto my devianart. I'm going to post a journal entry of the pokemon I want to have the kids get but its not completely finished so I wish for some suggestions. Also I need to figure out how the students/trainers are going to catch these pokemon. Yeah, so unless I figure out what to do, there's not going to be another chapter for a long time. Not to mention I'm also writing power ranger and digimon series in notebooks and I'm right now on a naruto spree. Yeah.
In response to Slenderbrine, you can send in some OCs. This applies to everyone. Warning, I probably won't use all the OCs sent in and they'll be minor characters. Opponents for battles for example.
