Natasha felt her hand tighten on Steve's arm. Something like this wasn't really something she'd willingly attend.

"Nervous?" Steve asked as he and Natasha waited to be announced.

"Yes. Which is somewhat new for me. Guess it's to be expected from a former Russian spy walking into a ballroom full of U.S. Army soldiers and officers." Natasha answered.

"If it makes you feel any better, I'm not as fond of these little parties either." Steve said. "I've never been invited to a party so coming to an officers gala is pretty big for me. We can leave early though."

"Announcing Captain Steven Rogers and, his wife, Natasha Rogers."

"Here we go." Natasha said and they walked through the open door and into the ballroom where all eyes were now on them.

The two walked over to the center of the room where Colonel Phillips was standing with his wife.

Steve's enhanced hearing caught many men talking about his wife.

"Boy, she's a real looker."

"Lucky guy."

"I bet he goes to sleep happy every night."

"Glad you two could make it." Phillips said.

"Of course. We're happy to have been invited, sir." Steve said.

"This is my wife, Mildred. Honey. This is Captain Rogers and his wife, Natasha." Phillips introduced.

"It's an honor to meet the great soldier who saved us." Mildred said. "And it's an honor to meet the lovely young lady who caught his attention."

"Thank you, Mrs. Phillips." Natasha said. "It's a real pleasure to meet you. You look wonderful."

"Why thank you. I love it when Chester brings me to his little parties."

"It's about the only chance that we get to go dancing."

Just as the colonel said 'dancing', the band began to play. The colonel and his wife moved to the dance floor and began to dance with other couples.

"Do you dance?" Natasha asked.

"I...not really. Actually, I don't know how to." Steve confessed.

"Well, guess I'll need to show you then." Natasha said as she took Steve's hand and led them to the dance floor. "Just follow my lead."

Steve put a shaky hand on Natasha's hip and held her hand in the other.

"This is a nice slow dance. So it won't be that hard to with your right foot and then move to the side."

Steve followed Natasha's every word, hoping he didn't step on her toes by accident as they twirled around the dance floor.

"You've got it." Natasha mused with a smile. "You're a fast learner."

"Thanks but I think it would be best not to jynx it. I have been known to be a little clumsy around beautiful women." Steve said.

"He's not lying." Bucky declared as he danced by with his date.

"Hey." Steve playfully scolded while Natasha laughed.

"He really enjoys teasing you, doesn't he?" she asked.

"He does." Steve answered with a smile. "But that's what best friends are for. He's always had my back since we first met and became friends. I always try to let him know how much I appreciate his friendship."

"I'm sure he knows." Natasha assured before the music came to an end and they moved off the floor.

They were soon approached by other officers and their wives. Each of them wanting to meet the famous super soldier and his new wife.

They were each making sure that the new couple knew their made up story. Captain America getting secretly married was sure to be a rumor that would go around.

Natasha had quickly learned that many of the officer's wives loved to gossip about everyone but themselves. They were sure to spread the story Steve and Natasha came up with and were telling everyone who asked about them.

Steve and Natasha were getting ready to leave when they were approached by a reporter.

"Excuse me, Mr. and Mrs. Rogers. I'm from the New York media studio and my boss sent me here to ask if you both would be interested in going on air and giving an interview of yourselves?"

"Why would he want that?" Steve asked.

"Captain, your fans would love to hear everything you've been up to since you returned to America after making sure that Hydra is no longer operating. Especially hearing how you gained such a lovely wife. Women and men everywhere are jealous."

Steve looked to Natasha who gave him a light smile.

"Alright." he answered. "Leave a message with the base letting us know when this interview will take place."

"Oh, thank you, sir. Thank you." the man said gleefully.

With that, Steve and Natasha quickly made their way from the party and back to their home.

"Did you enjoy yourself?" Steve asked as they entered their house and walked up to their bedroom.

"I actually did have a good time tonight." Natasha answered as she sat on the bed and removed her shoes. She wiggled her toes that were glad to be free of the constricting environment.

"It was fun." Steve agreed. "Best of all was finally learning to dance. You're a great teacher by the way."

"Thank you." Natasha said as she stood and placed her shoes on her side of the walk-in closet. She grabbed a pair of pajama's before heading into the bathroom. "So, that interview..."

"Nervous?" Steve asked as he changed in the closet.

"A little." she answered. "I've never been on tv before."

"We'll just need to costantly go over the story we created to make sure that we don't accidentally give anythig away and we'll need to look our best."

"Is it ok if I go look for a new dress tomorrow then?" Natasha asked as she let her hair down and gave it a few quick brushes.

"Of course." Steve answered and emerged from the closet the same time as his wife. "I'll just need to let the colonel know."

"Ok." she agreed and the two climbed into the bed. Settling a little closer together than they normally did.
