"Alrighty guys, let's do this. First let's set up a camp, we're gonna raid the house tomorrow." Cole told us. He pulled out a tent from his bag and it magically set itself up.
"Lemme guess, it's bigger on the inside?" I asked as I stepped inside. Although it was bigger on the inside, not that much bigger. The inside of the tent was a 9 by 9 foot room with cots, weapons, food, water, and some other items I didn't really care about. I put down my bag next to a cot and sat down. In the center of the tent was a table high enough to be used while sitting on the cot. "Not bad," I muttered.
After a few hours of planning, scouting, and sparring, the sun slowly set and the sky faded to black. I shivered from the cold and went inside. I lied down in my cot and looked up at the invisible roof. Stars covered the sky and I sighed in amazement. I heard Cole come in with Karen and he sat up.
"Sooo, what's for dinner?" I asked absentmindedly. I rubbed my hands together even though it was warm.
"Well, what do we have in the food chest?" Cole replied with a grin. He opened it and tossed me a bag of beef jerky and a can of peaches. "Dig in," he said as happily. I didn't reply, I was hungry enough to eat almost anything. I ate the jerky quickly and opened the can of peaches soon after. Some of the syrup liquid inside spilled, but I wiped it off with the sleeve of my shirt. I took a fork and lifted the peach and took a bite. The sweetness exploded in my mouth and I swiftly devoured it. I smiled and wiped my mouth.
"Anything else?" I asked hopefully.
"Yeah, cookies, then tomorrow's breakfast and lunch." Karen replied.
"Can I have a cookie?" I asked with a smile. She tossed one and I caught it quickly. I took a few bites and finished the cookie. I suddenly felt tired, as if the cookie drained his energy. "Goodnight guys, I gotta sleep." I lied down and closed my eyes.
I woke up to hear some voices.
"I don't know Karen, I might join them." Cole whispered.
"But what about camp? Or Tom? Or me? Are you really just going to leave your life behind and join them? They aren't even our kind! Come on, don't." Karen replied with a voice filled with emotion.
"But, with the demititans I'll be able to do all that I have never done! It's my chance to change everything. I could do anything."
"If you do this... I guess I never knew you... You're able to shut out everything you love for one stupid opportunity."
"Yeah, well this one stupid opportunity is gonna make me a god. And anyway, it's just one thing." I listened intently as my brain tried to make sense of what the heck was going on. But then Cole said, "You know what, let's just leave the conversation here and try get some sleep." I looked up at the stars and made a silent prayer to all the gods to help him and his friends to accomplish their mission safely. I closed my eyes again and let sleep roll over me.
It felt like a second had past when I opened my eyes and the sun was already in the sky. I sat up and looked around. Karen and Cole were still sleeping. I got out of my cot and stretched. I opened the food chest and set up everything. I stepped outside and felt the brisk air hit me.
I clicked my watch and watched the ball roll out. I levitated the ball and continued to control it. I shot it, retracted it, electrified it, everything. It was all done to keep my mind off of what happened last night. 'First, who the heck were the demititans? Second, what the heck was the offer? Third, what the heck Karen talking about? Four, what the heck was the betrayal. Five, what the heck is this thought process?' I thought.
I shot the ball into a tree and watched it leave a hole in several trees. I retracted it and it left holes on its way back. I caught it and rolled it between my two hands. I felt the electricity buzzing inside it. I sighed and turned it into my gladius. I walked back inside and woke them up. Cole sat up and rubbed his eyes and stretched. Karen yawned and stretched as well.
"Morning guys, shall we kick some butt? But first let's eat." I told them as I reached for some food. I ate some granola bars and some more canned peaches. After the canned peaches, I drank some water to wash it all down. I smiled and stretched.
"Let's get some armor first." Cole mentioned. He strapped on his gauntlet in which a rotating shield shot out. Karen put on a chest plate. I didn't have armor, so I just stood up and examined the blade of my sword. Cole looked at me and tossed me a celestial bronze disk. I caught it and on one side it had a button.
"What is this?" I asked as I examined it. The disk reminded me of a discus.
"You'll find out." he replied. "Go ahead, press the button." I did and it jumped onto my chest. Slowly, the celestial bronze strips shot out and wrapped around me. After a few seconds, my chest was encased in a celestial bronze chest plate. "See? Portable armor. Careful though, it's not that thick. But it could save you. Better than nothing right?"
"Yeah thanks, Cole." I told him as I smiled. Checked it out.
"No worries, just get me a good Christmas present." he told me as a joke. "Now, let's kick butt."
hope you enjoy!
