Prompt from NCISlover3: Nell and Kensi have to save the guys.
"You nervous?" Kensi inquired, checking in on her friend lying down next to her. Nell and Kensi were perched on a rooftop, watching the scene carrying out below them. The guys were undercover trying to entice this arms dealer to give up the location of RPGs stolen from Camp Pendleton.
"Yes," Nell admitted, taking the binoculars away from her face.
"Oh," the brunette said, somewhat taken aback. "But I heard great things from Deeks about you working in the field with him."
"It's not that, it's just…" Nell trailed off. She took her eyes off the meet and made eye contact with her friend. "When do the nerves go away?"
Kensi bit her lip and admitted, "They never do. Especially when working with a partner."
Nell chuckled. "Are you insinuating something?"
Kensi rolled her eyes and turned her attention back to the meet through the scope of her sniper rifle. "Absolutely not, I'm simply saying that it doesn't make it easier knowing the life of somebody you care about is in your hands."
"Somebody you care about, eh?" Nell repeated. "I just think that-"
"Trouble," Kensi broke her off in alarm. The man Callen was talking to suddenly pull a gun on him. She saw her team leader talking quickly in reaction, trying to get them out of the situation. The brunette counted off a few more vital seconds. After reasoning that the guys' covers were blown, she tapped her finger on the trigger, but not yet pulling it.
"I need you to go down there. I'll cover you from here," Kensi said.
Nell hesitated for a split second before springing into action. The petite woman sprinted down the ladder to the roof top and waited to get the go ahead. Kensi watched as the arms dealer aimed the gun straight at Callen's head. She shifted the position just a little and squeeze the trigger.
In an instant, the bullet tore through the arms dealers' knee, sending him sprawling to the ground. The others were sent spiraling into a panic. Kensi easily took out two more guys with quick rounds through the torso. While the guys took cover, Nell ran to the center, popping off shots.
Nell was impressive with her shooting, and rapidly took down several of the men. With Kensi assisting her, the area was cleared. For a panicked moment as Kensi scanned the area using the sniper scope, she couldn't see the guys. Another look revealed that she couldn't find Nell either.
Kensi slung the rifle over her back and drew her sidearm. She quickly made her way down the fire escape and into the deserted parking lot. The brunette braced herself for a fight- only to be pleasantly surprised by the sight of Nell standing over the last bad guy, and the boys looking on in awe.
"What the-" Callen started.
Sam continued, "Did she just?"
Deeks grinned wickedly and said, "I told you the woman had skills."
Nell blushed as Kensi called, "Everyone okay?"
"We're good!" The team leader replied.
"Drinks are on us tonight," Sam chuckled.
"We would expect nothing less," Nell quipped with a smile.
