A groaned left the back of his throat as he felt himself slipping back into conciousness. It was nice to wake up actually in bed and not on the kitchen floor or in the bath tub. His head turned to the side and eyes slowly opened. A frown formed on his face at the empty space beside him. He ran a hand over his face when he remembered the kiss she planted on his forehead before leaving to start her day. Something about clan meetings, he couldn't really remember because he was half sleep. Thoughts of the night before flooded his mind and he felt that feeling again. Whenever he thought of her it just coursed through him. He heaved heavy a sigh and smirked as he shook his head. "This can't be good," he muttered to himself before getting up.
Naruto roamed the streets of Konoha. He had already finished his training for the day and actually got a little extra in. Tsunade only had him run a couple simple errands today. Needless to say this was a rare moment when Naruto Uzuzmaki was bored with nothing to do. So with his hands in his pocket he wondered the streets with no specific destination. It was actually pretty nice. The weather was starting to warm up, people greeted him where ever he went and of course it was a peaceful time in Konoha.
He closed his eyes and inhaled when the smell of fresh baked bread drifted through his sense. He looked to his left and there was that bakery Hinata had dragged him to that one time. The corner of his lips turned up into a smirk as he headed in that direction. He walked out of the bakery with a bag and smile on his face. He now knew where he was heading.
Upon seeing him approaching, the guards at the gate already called for Hinata before he even got to there. He sat on a bench in the courtyard waiting for her to come out. He watched the coy fish dance together in the pond. They swam smooth and swiftly, ingonrant to the world beyond that pond. "Hello Handsome," a soft voice wafted into his ear.
He jumped a bit and laughed,"Damnit Hinata. Stop doing that."
She giggled and slide into the space beside him. "You're always so caught up in your thoughts it's easy to sneak up on you.
"I just let you sneak up on me," he smirked.
"Whatever you say," she smiled,"So what brings you?"
"I was walking around bored when I walked pass that bakery and got some mochi. Bean paste how you like," he held up the bag and her eyes lit up. The blonde didn't try to fight the grin on his face as she dug into the bag and pulled out the box of treats.
"Oh this is good," her eyes nearly rolled the back her head she bounced in excitement and he thought it was just the cutest thing. He watched as the soft breeze blew her hair and she sighed a content look on her face.
"Guess what, Naru-kun?" she looked over at him with that adorable look on her face that he's grown to love.
"What," he humored her
"I get my team of genin next week," she beamed.
"That's great, Hinata-sensei," he teased, "we should celebrate."
"Yes, we should," she beamed, "But I leave for a mission tomorrow and need to to be getting in soon, but I'll be back in a few days so we'll figure it out then," she clapped enthusiastically
"Welp, I guess I'll just have to plan while you're away," he couldn't stop the huge grin on his face, "I'm proud of you, Hinata." Her blush could be seen miles away. Those three words struck a chord in her. All she ever wanted was to be acknowledge; by her father, by her clan and by him.
"Thank you," she looked over at him with those big opalescent eyes. He smiled at her then averted his eyes. Sometimes he just couldn't look at her. Those eyes of her's scared him, they were unnerving. The way she saw pass all the walls he put up. It scared him. He feared she'd see pass the masks and see all of his insecurities. He just knew she'd see that crying five year old that he pushed to deepest, darkest corner of his mind. He couldn't let her in because she might see that he's not as great as she believes and change her mind. So he'd rather turn away from her and keep her at arms length, because one day she'd just get sick of shit and leave anyway.
Taking a deep breath to rid himself of those thoughts, he leaned over and rested his chin on her small shoulder. His lips brushing the shell of her ear,"Let's go up to your room to start celebrating now."
"Naruto-kun," she gasped and turned to him with wide eyes and he burst into laughter. She was so easy to tease. "N-not in the compound."
"I was just playing, Hinata geez," he shook her lightly,"It'd be weird in there." He frowned and cringed at the thought of living in a house full of "all seeing" eyes
He reached up towards the bright blue sky almost as he could touch the fluffy, white clouds as they passed. Naruto brought his hand back down and sighed. Her heard the ruffling of a plastic bag to his right and yawn to his left. After the war, Shikamaru had brought him up to his secret rooftop. They had spent a lot of time up there just trying to clear their heads and escape if only for a little while. Since Hinata was out on a mission here he sat between the two bestfriends Naruto looked over to his right and his eyes nearly bulged out of his head,"What the hell! Are you eating a carrot?"
Shikamaru peaked an eye open to see what was going on. Choji just shrugged and took another bite out of a carrot. "I made this deal with Ino that if she stops drinking I'll snack healthier every now and then." Shikamaru smirked and shook his head while Naruto burst into laughter making whip sounds. Choji smiled and shrugged again,"The things I do for love."
"Nah, you're just whipped," Naruto kept laughing.
"Troublesome,"Shikamaru chuckled.
"It's called compromise. It's necessary in a relationship," he pointed his carrot at the two of them,"You two should take notes."
"Relationships are troublesome. They're complicated and messy," Shikamaru waved his hand,"Who needs 'em."
"Temari," Choji fake coughed and Naruto started laughing again as Shikamaru rolled his eyes.
"Why would you bring that troublesome woman up," he groaned.
"Because you love her," Choji smirked, "Just go for it. Everyone knows you guy's are already sleeping together." The brunette fell into a sudden coughing fit and Naruto again fell into laughter.
"You have no right to laugh," Shikamaru glared at Naruto, who shutup at the icey gaze.
"I-I don't know what you're talking about,"Naruto shook his head.
"Hinata," Choji bit into another carrot.
"Hinata? What about Hinata," he continued to play dumb.
"Oh please. You two are just as obvious, "the auburn headed man shook his head,"I don't see why you guys try to hide it. I mean I want everyone to know how much I love Ino, so everyone knows she's mine. Relationship's aren't that bad."
"Whatever," Naruto whispered.
"Troublesome," Shika grunted.
The door opens and it's as if time itself stops. They stood in the doorway, no one saying a single word just staring at each other until she decides to break the silence, "I missed you."
"I missed you too," he smiled and let her in.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and placed a kiss on his lips.
