Chapter Thirteen: Unexpected

Lucy kneeled before Levy, took both her hands and squeezed. "Don't panic. Focus, Levy, we will find a cure for Wendy. Porlyusica said that she is able to maintain her life but for how long, we're not sure." The blonde pulled Levy around the neck for a hug. "She'll be fine. We're not going to lose her. She is Fairy Tail top priority."

"Yeah, that's right!" Natsu tried to sound perky but failed, he crossed his arms. "She's a Dragon Slayer! Wendy won't give up too easily. Lucy and I are heading to Bellum now for that Moon Dust. Porlyusica-san said that particular item might be useful to us to help Wendy recover. We're still doing the quest but we will make sure that we will get extra."

Levy took a deep breath, she lean back against Gajeel's chest for a good minute before sitting up again and slowly got up to her feet. The Iron Dragon stood up as well, assisting by supporting her by the elbow. The bluenette stared at Lucy first and then Natsu. "Gajeel and I will continue on to Midi. We will finish this quest and return home as soon as possible."

Natsu nodded his head before walking toward the door but before he left the room, he turned his head to the side. "Hey, Gajeel…"

Gajeel turned his head at Natsu. "What?"

"Don't let her get hurt." Natsu said with a serious tone of voice. "She's valuable to everyone." With that, he stretched his back. "Let's go Lucy!" He left the room.

Lucy gave Levy another hug before leaving the room with a wave. "Be careful ok?"

Without a thought, Levy waved her left hand and did not notice the blonde's reaction. "I'll see you later, Lu-chan."

Lucy stood at the doorway, her eyes on Levy's ring finger before turning her attention to Gajeel. His left hand is loosely on his side while his right is on Levy's shoulder. She saw it. 'Ah, I see…' Taking a deep breath, she smiled. "You two better be careful, we will see you back at the Guild."

"Yeah, we will. You too, Lu-chan." Levy said. She watched her friend leave the room and waited for a few minutes before collapsing on the bed. "Poor Wendy-chan…"

Gajeel sat on the bed beside her, he rubbed her back to soothe her. "She's a tough cookie. This won't beat her. Like Natsu said, we will find a cure for her."

"We can't stay here and wait for tomorrow." Levy stood up, her expression full of worry. "We have to get to Midi and get those tears so we can return home to help out find a cure for her."

"Shrimp, calm down…" Gajeel said, he sighed. "You can't think straight when you panic. Try and calm down. We should stop by somewhere before we hit Midi anyway."

"Stop by where?" Levy asked.

"The Magician Moerie." Gajeel smirked, he stood up. Taking Levy with him. "Might as well hit two birds with one stone, he can give us answers about his lover Sulma and if his generous enough, maybe a cure for Wendy." He crossed his arms. "Worth a shot."

Levy threw her arms around Gajeel's waist. She closed her eyes and breathe in his scent. "Thank you, Gajeel…"

"Yeah, no problem…" Gajeel wrapped his arms around her. "She'll pull through. No one in the guild will allow her to give up to easily. That's not the Fairy Tail way." Gajeel smirked. "Gihi. Master won't let her."

"That's right…" Levy smiled, she slightly pulled away enough to look up to him. "Fairy Tail never gives up."

She finally smiled, he couldn't help it. Gajeel leaned down and kissed her softly, she responded with pressing herself against him. He held her tighter, deepen the kiss. After a few minutes which wasn't enough for Gajeel's standard, he let her go with a grin. "How about we get moving? Find ourselves a carriage to take us close to the forest." He tried to ignore the flush on her skin and the dream-like stare she's giving him. He cleared his throat. "W-what about it?" His feeling a bit shy, he slightly blushed.

Levy bit her lower lip, blushed as she reached for his hand. "Yeah, ok."

"Ok…" Gajeel repeated, he had to kick himself mentally. He squeezed his hand and felt her warmth. "O-ok, let's go!"

An hour later, they found themselves in the back of a moving carriage. Gajeel wanted to kill something, feeling sick in his stomach like his life was draining out of him. He turned his whole body and pressed his face on Levy's flat stomach. "Augh… M-make it s-stop!"

Levy felt so bad, she try to soothe him by rubbing his back with one hand and the other on his head. "Hang on for just a little bit longer…" She didn't want to remind him that the ride will take another four hours to the forest. "Don't you want to take another potion?"

For a minute, Gajeel debated but in the end he just snuggled closer to Levy's stomach. "N-No… I'll be fucked if m-my body get used to it on the way back home."

"Then try and get some rest until we get there." Levy said, she leaned down and kissed his exposed pierced ear which caused Gajeel's eyes to snap open. His body shivered and a reaction he did not expected from himself, his member twitched slightly from the contact. Levy then played with his hair, the innocent gesture didn't help him, his body is completely aware of the young woman and something inside him ignited. Levy continued to talk. "Once we get to the forest, it won't be easy to get to his cottage. Monsters are all over the place."

"Umm… Y-yeah…" Gajeel managed to reply despite the fact the he is fighting himself from the inside. 'Calm down! Calm down! Damn you!'

Levy continued, she constantly run her fingers through his long spikey hair without a thought as she look outside the carriage. "We should get some rest until we get there. We're lucky enough to find a merchant who is traveling toward South Village and will be passing the forest along the way."

Gajeel won, he wasn't aroused anymore but his body felt hot and he knew that there was nothing he could do at this moment of time. "We're not going in there blind in the dark. We'll be fucked. We're camping out tonight and head out first thing in the morning."

"Good idea. I like that plan and I don't mind sleeping outside." Levy said, she smiled. "I just hope it won't rain."

"Well p-probably make a s-small shelter of some s-sort when we… we get there just in case." Gajeel felt a thousand needles poking his brain and stomach, he grunted. "I f-fucking hate t-this..."

They were both silent for a while, Levy's mind wondered to Wendy's current state and Gajeel knew it. There was nothing else could be said since he already said what he wanted to say earlier. But he also knew better than to leave her alone, she'll get too distracted. "Shrimp… Don't think too much, that little one will be alright."

Levy sighed, her eyes remained at the horizon. "I can't help but worry. Wendy-chan's so little but I know she's no weakling."

"Humph… She's a Dragon-Slayer." Gajeel smirked. "Of course she's no weakling." He opened an eye to look at her. "Don't worry, we will save her."

Levy didn't reply, she leaned back against the wooden wall of the carriage and closed her eyes. It's going to be awhile yet until they reached their destination, might as well catch some sleep before they get into any trouble once they reached the forest. "Do you think they managed to spot us?"

"I didn't see anyone." Gajeel grunted. "If they did, they'll be attacking us by now but if not, they'll be waiting for us at South Village. Let's just hope they didn't and stay out of our way for a while." He was surprise when Levy took one of his hands but didn't comment, instead, he intertwined his fingers with hers. "Be strong for her, shrimp."

"I know…" Levy kept her eyes close, fighting the tears that was about to escape her lids. "I know…"

Gajeel squeezed her hand. He drifted off to sleep after hearing Levy's steady breathing. His last thought was. 'She'll pull through, no ones letting her slip away…'

It was a few hours later when the farmer let out Gajeel and Levy at the foot of the forest. He looked worried and also amused. "You 'lots are crazy to even attempt of going in. That whole forest is enchanted and no one goes in without getting hurt or attacked. Are you sure you don't want me to take you all the way to South Village? It takes half the day on foot from here."

"We're fine. Thank you for your concern and we appreciate the ride." Levy beamed the man a smile. She hooked her arm around Gajeel's. "My husband here won't let anything happened to me."

The man sized Gajeel. 'The man looks very sturdy. Not bad. Not bad at all.' He grinned at the Iron Dragon. "Got yourself a pretty wife there, son, good for you! I did too, a blissful fifteen years. If you happened to get in South Village, look us up! I'm Jovin Cole and I own a fresh market stand, wife's a baker."

"That's sounds like a plan. We will see you there in a day or two." Levy said, she waved when the man drove away. She look up to the sky, the sun was setting as they predicted. "Well, we might as well find someplace to sleep."

"Change of plan, shrimp, let's go in. Being out here in the open is dangerous. We're camping inside." Gajeel stared at the horizon from where they came, "I'm sure those bastards from Crow are on our tails. Let's get moving."

Levy didn't argue, she nodded her head and followed him toward the forest. They wondered inside the thick trees and amazingly large plants, though the moist ground seemed to be uneven, they continued on. The more they walk, the thicker the bushes gets and when Levy turned around, she could no longer see the clearing. "Gajeel, the whole place reeks of enchantment but I can't seem to pin point the source."

"Yeah, it's all over the place." Gajeel frowned. "He seriously done a lot of effort to keep the place stock with monsters as well…" He stopped walking and made certain that Levy is behind him. "Something's coming…"

The hurried rustles quickly caught Levy's attention and from behind Gajeel, she could tell that whatever it was. It's coming their way. Preparing for a fight, Levy took her stance. "A monster?"

Before Gajeel had the chance to reply, something white burst out of the bushes and landed smack on his face. "WHAT THE FU-!"

"A rabbit!" Levy squeeled, she plucked the furry little creature off Gajeel. "Aw, you poor thing, what got you all riled up?" The tiny hare trembled against Levy's arms. She looked up to Gajeel. "Something spooked the little guy."

Annoyed, Gajeel frowned at the white fur ball. "Yeah, well, I would appreciate it if he didn't use my face as a safe zone. I outa -!"

RAWR! – The ground trembled.

Red eyes met hazel eyes as they heard another loud growl and felt the ground move under their feet. It was getting closer. Levy pressed the scared creature closer to her. "Gajeel…"

"I know…" Gajeel sniffed the air, took Levy's arm and pushed her to the opposite direction. "Run!"

And they did. Levy took the lead with Gajeel giving her direction. 'Turn left now… Turn right on the third tree… Keep going… Turn left on the rock…' But whatever it was that made the loud roaring sound, it was now chasing them. Gajeel narrowed his eyes as he ran behind Levy, he slowed his pace. "Shrimp, stop!"

Levy stopped running, she turned, the rabbit still in her arms. "What is it? We shouldn't stop running… That thing…"

"It's a mirage…" Gajeel sniffed the air. "Magic. It's not real." Once more, he sniffed. "We're being tricked…"

Levy took a moment and closed her eyes, focusing her thoughts. Calculating. Understanding. Sensing. Her eyes snap opened, stared at Gajeel and nodded her head. "Your right…"

"Bastard, his playing games with us." Gajeel growled. "People get hurt in here because they keep running and the attacks are shadows of lowly creatures…" Gajeel turned, transformed his right arm into an iron rod. "ENOUGH GAMES! SHOW YOU SELF!" He puched a tree. "MOERIE!"

The tree helplessly fell and without warning, the ground opened under Levy's feet and fell. "GAJEEL!"

"LEVY!" Gajeel reached out to her but it was too late. The ground closed, leaving the Iron Dragon falling to the ground. He punched it, hard, enough to create a crater and a couple more tress fell. "DAMN IT! LEVY!"

Tsk… Tsk… Tsk… The clicking sound of tongue caught Gajeels attention. Such rowdy young man. Is that how you treat innocent plants? I should just kick you out of my forest if you continue to cause havoc…

"You… Where's Levy!?" Gajeel stood up, looking around but all he could see are trees. "Where is she?"

Safe… The voice said. For now, anyway…

"You're the Magician Moerie…" Gajeel pointed out, angry, he gritted his teeth. "You lay a hand on her, I swear, I'll find you and make certain you'll never be recognized! GIVE HER BACK! NOW!" He clenced his fist tighter.

Find her then. She's hasn't left the forest. Moerie said, sounding amused. So far, I've put all the monsters in this forest to sleep and used my magic, seemed that it won't work against you. But once I count to three, they'll be wondering about once more…

"What the fuck are you saying?" Gajeel demanded.

Simple. A game of hide and seek. Moerie sighed. Gajeel could imagine the man rolling his eyes. Find the girl before one of the monster does. Find her, I'll clear the way for you to meet me.

"What the fuck?" Gajeel's brows shot up, fear and furious mixed together. "Your insane! You -!"

One… Moerie counted.

"You bastard! Don't -!" Gajeel was cut off.

Two… Moerie continued. Don't waste your time…

"I swear to God! If anything happenes to my girl, I'll kill you!" Gajeel swore angerly.

Then don't waste your time yelling… Moerie smirked. Three… He snapped his fingers once. He leaned back against his chair as he watched Gajeel run toward the direction of the the river. Smiling, his brown eyes amusingly stared at the enormous mirror. "What an energetic young man…"

The image switched. He sighed at the sight of Levy, fast asleep on the bed of lilies with the rabbit sleeping comfortably in her arms. "How long will it take him to come rescue you. A few hours? A day? A couple of days? A week? A month? Maybe a year? Or maybe he will give up?" He tapped a finger on his cheek. "Questions. Questions. Quistions."

The screen switched again, it showed Gajeel making his way toward closer to the river. He smiled, "Guess we're about to find out."
