Later that night Light decided to make his move. Searching for her door upstairs he thought, All I have to do is go into the lair of the banshee, have her agree to a dinner, get her comfortable, and snatch the contract before it's too late.
Soon enough Light came to be standing candidly in front of a black-clad door with medieval bolts criss-crossing it. "Why would she have a pink dreamhouse, but a gothic door? Is she bipolar?" Light asked himself, raising his fist to knock on the door.
Before he could do so he heard someone whispering from the down the hallway. Turning his head he was surprised to see Matsuda peeking their heads from around the corner. "What the hell are you doing up here? Shouldn't you be preparing a menu or something?"
Looking both ways Matsuda cautiously came down the hall toward Light and pushed something into his hand. It was a silver-plated cross on a chain. "I have the feeling you might need this. You don't know what she might turn into." He whispered then sped back down the hall. "Good Luck!"
"Damn idiot..." Light said as he looked down at the cross. After a moment's thought he slipped it over his head. Better safe than sorry. Reaching up he knocked loudly on the door before he could change his mind. The knock echoed and the door creaked open eerily.
Palms sweating he pushed open the door a bit more to reveal a figure curled up on a skull and crossbones blanket. Slowly he inched into the room, one hand on the cross and the other outstretched to touch the figure on the bed. "Misa? H-Hey Misa, it's me. Light remember? Wanna get up and talk to me? I have surprise for you tonight. Uh, hello?"
Light was almost to the edge of the bed when the figure jerked up like it was on marionette strings. In the slit of light coming from the doorway half of its face was twisted into a grimace with black goop dripping down from its eyes. The blond hair was matted to one side and the hand that stretched out to meet Light's was chipped and bony.
"OH MY GOD! SHE'S POSSESSED! SPAWN OF SATAN!" Light screamed holding out his cross and backing frantically toward the door. "STAY BACK, I'm warning you. I won't become a part of your cult!"
Sighing angrily from the bed the figure got up and pulled on the cord by the bedside. A lamp illuminated the room to show Misa, not in her best form but Misa nevertheless, standing beside her bed. She had a nasty case of bed head, had been chewing her nails, and her mascara was dripping all down her face mixed with tears.
"How dare you!?" She cried picking up a winged bat pillow and throwing it. "First you go through my private belongings and try to destroy my wedding, now you come in here and call me the spawn of satan! What kind of fiancee' are you?"
Light stood frozen for five more seconds before he got himself together to act. "Oh, oh! Misa, I'm sorry, so very sorry. My nerves are kinda frayed right now, you know, with all the tension in the air and...stuff. Sorry again." He said quickly trying to salvage the bits of his plan.
"Anyways...to make up for being a jerk and all I was deciding on making you a nice dinner. Something fancy and by candlelight. I know you like that kind of stuff. So what do you say? Let bygones be bygones and," inwardly he groaned at this, "let lovers be lovers?"
Misa watched Light for a long minute, judging him and weighing his offer. After what seemed like an eternity she smiled and lept toward him with a new light in her eyes. "Of course, of course, of course! I would just love a meal by candleLIGHT with my Light. I really need to get cleaned up, and new makeup, and a gorgeous outfit, and earrings. I have a lot to do!" She mused rushing Light out the door and slamming it behind him.
Breathing out a loud sigh of relief, Light finally pried his hands away from the cross around his neck. "Phase one completed, phase two under way."
"I think I'm going to keep this cross though..."

The story's almost coming to a close! I might just finish it up now so there might be another update. After Light's scare I hope he could get a meal together...
