A few days after the hurricane had passed the girls had heard little from A which began to worry them. Now that everyone had started coming back to camp, it had been harder and harder to hide Ali, but they'd managed it so far. After a morning of
"Guys, I don't know about you but I'm starting to worry, we haven't heard from A in days!" Emily whispered to her friends as she looked at a sleeping Alison in her bed.
"Maybe we should be glad that we haven't heard anything!" Hanna said loudly, receiving a glare from Emily. The four all turned to Alison who still looked sound asleep, Emily let out a small smile which didn't go unnoticed by her three friends.
"I don't think we should be glad, Em's right. I mean who knows what this bitch could be planning!" Spencer added, still whispering.
"What if A knows that Ali's back?" Aria asked, her voice laced in concern as she saw Emily pale.
"If A knew, we would know!" Hanna said softly this time.
"A locked me and Ali in that room, I doubt A thinks that was anyone else. A knows that Ali is alive!"
"Dammit! I hate when Spencers right!" Hanna said, causing the girls to laugh. The tension soon passed as they moved from the topic of Ali to practically everything else.
"Mm morning girls," Alison said smiling as she rubbed her eyes.
"Morning," They all replied happily. Emily got up from the floor and passed Alison a diet coke she had bought for her earlier in the lunch hall.
"Thanks," Alison said smiling as Emily sat beside her, the two could barely keep their eyes off of each other.
"How long was I asleep for?"
"About 12 hours," Spencer replied grinning, it almost felt like old times.
"It's lunch time already!?"
"Yeah, we would've got you something to eat but we weren't sure if you'd be hungry," Aria explained before asking, "I'm about to go and find Jason anyway, you want me to go get you some food?"
"If you don't mind," Alison answered with a smile, Aria nodded and dragged Hanna out with her to get the food.
"So what's the plan for today?" Alison asked as she sipped her coke.
"Well we've still got an hour of lunch, then Aria Hanna and Caleb all have activities, so I'll stay with you until dinner, Spencer and Toby will be around and Jason will be at counseling until 3," Emily explained before they heard a knock on the door. Spencer got up to open it, noticing her brother and her boyfriend.
"What are you guys doing here?" Spencer asked happily as she gave Jason a small hug before kissing Toby.
"I've got a surprise for you," Toby said smirking at Spencer. Emily and Alison both raised their eyebrows and laughed.
"Do you mind if I leave?" Spencer asked turning to Alison and Emily. They both shook their head and encouraged her to go. Spencer said her goodbyes before following Toby out of the room.
"So Jason, why are you here?" Alison asked smiling at her brother, he stepped in the room and shut the door behind him.
"I just wanted to see how you were," Jason replied, Emily quickly got up and excused herself to the bathroom so she could give the siblings some time alone.
"I can't believe you're really here," Jason said, still in shock. This whole camp experience had been like one long dream. "Do mom and dad know you're-"
"Alive?" Alison finished and Jason nodded.
"No. And I'm not going to tell them until this A mess is finished with, for all I know it could've been A that Mom tried to protect that night."
"Why would mom do that? She loved you Ali, more than anyone."
"I wish I knew Jase. This is all one big mess," Alison said as she let out a big sigh, Jason put his arm around his sister to comfort her. "I'm so glad you have Aria, I've always rooted for you two."
"I'm lucky, I couldn't imagine a life without her anymore. Anyway I should probably go and find her. I'll bring your dinner to you later," Jason said as gave his sister a hug.
"Stay. She went to get my lunch for me, she'll be back any minute now."
"So what is this surprise then?" Spencer asked as Toby covered her eyes with his hand, she could tell they were outside by the coolness of the air from the previous storm.
"We're almost there," Toby said laughing, a minute later they arrived at their destination; the secluded picnic area. Toby had laid out a blanket with a basket of food and a game of scrabble set out for the two. He finally took his hand away from her eyes and she felt her breath hitch as she saw the sight.
"Toby, this is amazing!"
"It's all for you, Spence. So a game of scrabble or some food?" Toby asked as they both sat down opposite each other.
"How about we do both?" Spencer suggested smiling as she reached into the basket and grabbed a strawberry. "What I want to know is how you managed to do all of this!"
"It may have involved some sneaking around in the kitchens this morning with Caleb and some help from Emily preparing the food," Toby answered smiling.
"Toby," Spencer said softly before leaning over their game of scrabble and pressing a soft kiss to his lips. "This is all beautiful."
"Good, I wanted it to be perfect. You deserve to be treated right. I don't ever wanna lose you Spence, I don't know what I would do," Toby confessed squeezing her hand, Spencer could feel her cheeks turning red.
"How about that game of Scrabble now?"
"Come on Han, you told us you could read a map!" Caleb exclaimed as he and Aria stumbled through the woods behind a frustrated Hanna. They were now taking part in their afternoon activity, orienteering.
"This map is complicated okay, like Spencer complicated!"
Aria and Caleb groaned once again as they reached the same checkpoint they'd found 20 minutes ago. "Great, we're going in circles."
"Okay then Sherlock, why don't you try and read this stupid map!" Hanna huffed, handing Caleb the map. Aria and Caleb shot a scared look at each other and Caleb began to lead the way.
"So how are things going with Jason?" Hanna asked Aria as the two were now following Caleb.
"Things are good, he's happy now that Ali's back. There were so many unresolved feelings when she left and they've finally started talking. Can you remember before all of this happened, how different they were?"
"If it wasn't for their last name we would never have guessed they were related," Hanna said smiling. Aria was always so passionate when she talked about Jason and Hanna knew that she was like that when she talked about Caleb.
"Exactly. I think this is good for him. It's so weird to think that a few years ago we only knew him as 'Ali's older brother' and now he's my boyfriend," Aria gushed, blushing slightly as Hanna nudged her.
"And who knows, maybe in a few years time you'll be known as Mrs Dilaurentis!"
"Hanna.." Aria said giggling, she shook her head and linked arms with the blonde as the two followed a now grumpy looking Caleb.
"What? I'll happily admit that I want to be Mrs Rivers, I mean come on Hanna Rivers sounds great!" Hanna said smiling, Caleb stopped and turned around with a smile.
"I like it," Caleb replied as he held Hanna's hand as the two carried on walking. Aria smiled at the loved up couple and pulled her phone out to text Jason.
A good half an hour later Hanna began dancing happily as she made her way over to their last checkpoint, the three of them we're now relieved after not seeing any sign of people or checkpoints for an hour or two.
Hanna quickly grabbed the last checkpoint card and handed it to Caleb who had the other 4 red cards, red being the colour for their team. "Wait, is that writing on it?!"
Aria grabbed the card from Caleb and she began to read it out loud. "After all that hard work maybe you deserve A clue. Someone in your group isn't being so fAithful. -A"
"What does that even mean?" Hanna said groaning as she rested her head on Caleb's shoulder, he instantly wrapped his arm around her protectively.
"It means A is trying to mess with our heads!" Emily said as soon as Hanna, Aria and Caleb told her, Alison and Jason what had happened.
"But A wouldn't just say that!" Hanna argued, Caleb placed a kiss on her head to soothe her.
"I think Hanna's right. A wouldn't say something like that without a motive or evidence," Aria replied, gripping Jason's hand tighter. The group had now all finished their dinner and we're waiting for Spencer and Toby to get back.
"Thank you! Anyway Alison, I'm glad your back and everything and it seems like I'm the only one with the balls to ask this. What are you gonna do, you can't hide in here forever, someone will end up finding out!"
"I don't know. I can't tell the police the truth. If I just turn up from the dead they'll start asking questions. No matter how I choose to come back, people will talk, they'll ask questions. I'm stuck," Alison said shifting closer to Emily.
"Well then you're gonna have to lie! But this is the last lie I allow you to tell. Whatever you come up with, we'll go along with. As long as it's the last one you ever tell," Hanna said, letting a small smile out.
"I swear, mom," Alison teased, Hanna threw her pillow at Alison and laughed when it hit her in the face.
"Wow, these softball activities are really helping with my throwing!" Hanna commented causing everyone in the room to laugh at her, things really were starting to get back to normal.
"Ugh I can't believe you beat me twice!" Spencer groaned as Toby laid down his final letter to make the word 'Quirky' as he landed on a triple word score. Spencer let out a huff of frustration but gave him a peck on the lips to congratulate him.
"I love this game," Toby said, smirking as Spencer frowned at him.
"Why can I never win against you?! I beat Hanna all the time!"
"Yeah, but that's Hanna. She hates Scrabble," Toby replied laughing, Spencer let out a giggle and moved next to Toby, snuggling into his side.
"Dance with me," He whispered, causing her to shiver gently.
"But there's no music."
"Then I'll sing for you."
"Okay," Spencer returned before Toby offered her his hand, she accepted it and stood up. He wrapped his arms around her waist as she wrapped her arms around his neck, swaying softly. He began singing.
You're just too good to be true
Can't take my eyes off of you
You'd be like heaven to touch
I wanna hold you so much
At long last love has arrived
And I thank God I'm alive
You're just too good to be true
Can't take my eyes off of you
Pardon the way that I stare
There's nothing else to compare
The sight of you leaves me weak
There are no words left to speak
But if you feel like I feel
Please let me know that it's real
You're just too good to be true
Can't take my eyes off you
"Let's finish the dessert," Toby suggested, Spencer agreed and the two sat back down. She reached her hand into the basket and grabbed the first thing she could find.
"Hey, you brought fortune cookies?!' Spencer asked as she handed him one.
Toby looked puzzled and then shook his head, "Em must've put them in here."
Toby watched as Spencer broke her fortune cookie apart to reveal her fortune. A frown fell onto her face, erasing her smile off of her face completely. "You're smiling now, but by tomorrow evening I can guarantee you'll be anything but happy and that's a promise I'll keep. -A"
Toby quickly opened his fortune cookie to reveal he had the same message, both Toby and Spencer looked around nervously, swearing they heard a dark laughter coming from somewhere. "How about we both get back?" Toby suggested, Spencer nodded and helped him pack up.
Ten minutes later they had finally made it back to their room to find everyone waiting for them.
"Guys we've heard from A again," Spencer informed the group almost immediately after shutting the door.
"Us too. I'm starting to think that we're anything but safe here," Aria said worriedly as she hugged Spencer.
"That means we're gonna have to work extra harder to find out who this bitch is once and for all," Hanna commented sighing and looking at the ground.
"Then I'm coming back to Rosewood officially, starting tomorrow," Alison said silencing the room.
"Are you sure about coming back Ali?" Emily asked as she laid next to Alison. Aria had gone to bed with Jason, Hanna and Caleb were in the bathrooms and Spencer and Toby were in the boys room.
"Yes, I've never been so sure. If I come back, we can finally be together Em. I can hold your hand, I can kiss you in public. I won't have to keep hiding in the dark."
Emily leant forward and placed a kiss on Alison's soft lips, she could feel Alison smiling against her own. Emily tucked a strand of Ali's loose hair behind her ear as their noses touched gently, neither blinking.
"I love you Em, you know that I'd do anything to keep you safe right?"
Emily nodded and smiled before giving Alison one last kiss. "Goodnight Ali."
