Chapter 13

Origins and Awakening

"What is going on in here?!" said a voice from outside the class room.

It was Volteer with Bahadron, Taimus, and Levia in tow. Apparently the disciplinary committee was on their way to their respective classes while talking to Volteer regarding some issues that had to discuss with a teacher. When they saw Axel, Abyss, and Trent in a crumpled heap to their left Bahadron asked, "What happened to them?"

"The mad triad over there tried to do me in!" answered Bolt.

"Mad triad." Taimus chuckled.

"But Bolt defeated them! Professor Volteer Bolt is a Storm Dragon, a Wind AND Electric dragon!" Jewels exclaimed.

"What, a Storm Dragon? Bolt my boy is this true?" asked Volteer.

"Yeah, let me see if I can get this now that I've done it." Bolt said as he turned around. Bolt blew a small tornado with sparks of blue electricity within the "walls" of the tornado. Volteer and the disciplinary committee members gaped at what they saw.

"You ARE a Storm Dragon, a real Storm Dragon." said Levia.

A moment later the "mad triad" was starting to come to. Bahadron, Levia, and Taimus surrounded them and Volteer moved in as well. When Abyss looked up, for he was on the bottom of the pile, saw Volteer scowling at him.

"Uh-oh, Trent…"

Trent groaned and looked around seeing the disciplinary committee and then Volteer he gave a weak smile and started to say; "P-professor, I-uh…"

"ENOUGH! This is the last straw you three, attacking a fellow student with the intent to kill him for no real mortal reason is unforgivable!" Volteer roared, "I will personally see to it that your families are notified of this and you three are sent directly to the penitentiary for this as well!"

The mention of the penitentiary caused all three of their jaws to drop. They tried to say something, but Volteer cut them off roaring, "SILENCE! I have had enough of your excuses for the remainder of my lifetime and I will hear no more of them! Escort these three to the detention room until the authorities arrive to take them." he told the disciplinary committee.

With the disciplinary committee keeping a close eye on them, Abyss Axel, and Trent hung their heads and walked very slowly to the detention room to await the arrival of the authorities.

"Well now that that has been taken care of, was anybody hurt in the confrontation?" asked Volteer.

"Just Jewels, who took a blow from Trent before he sent his goons after me to make me into his private punching bag." answered Bolt.

"Hmmm, even though it doesn't look that bad at a glance, I still want you to go to the infirmary to get it checked to be sure. Bolt would you see that she gets there?"

"Uh, sure thing Professor."

"I'll inform the other members of the faculty of this matter, but they will want a demonstration of your new found powers."

"I'll be more than happy to do so if need be, just let me know when."

"Very good now go on; class will be canceled until this mess is cleaned up everybody so you may leave." Volteer announced.

The students all left the classroom in an uproar about what had transpired. Not only are the three bullies of the academy gone, but the new dragon and most natural flyer Bolt was in fact a Storm Dragon. Storm Dragons are an extremely rare breed of dragons nearly on par with purple dragons. For they wield two elements simultaneously wind and electricity. There are also other kinds of duel dragons, dragons that are capable of wielding two elements at the same time, but only it is only possible for elements that are a form of or complement each other. Like, for instance, fire and wind, wood and water, water and earth, earth and metal, etc. Despite that, however, there haven't been any such dragons in a very long time.

Bolt was walking Jewels to the infirmary as he was instructed to do. All the while the two remained silent the entire walk there until Jewels spoke; "Bolt, I want to apologize."

"For what?"

"For everything that had just happened back there, I feel responsible for this somehow."

"Don't be ridiculous Jewels, it's not your fault that twigs for brains and his two hollow heads attacked me. Besides it was probably going to happen sooner or later anyways."

"Thanks Bolt."

"By the way, how in the world did you become his girlfriend?"

"Heehee, now that you mention it, I'm starting to wonder that myself."

They laughed a little bit, clearly enjoying this simple time together. After Jewels was looked over as was cleared of any serious injury, other than a bruise on the side of her head, she and Bolt hung out together a little longer.

Later that afternoon Bolt told Spyro, Cynder, Flame, Sparx, and Ember what had happened.

"Wow! That's incredible Bolt! To think that you got those three bullies expelled from the academy, but are also able to wield Wind and Electricity elements at the same time." exclaimed Flame.

"Yeah, you're pretty amazing Bolt. Cynder is the only other dragon who can wield multiple elements other than me." said Spyro.

"It's hard to believe that you're so talented to pull that off." said Sparx.

"Talented at what? Using two elements?" asked Bolt.

"No, talented at getting dragons expelled. think you can get her expelled." Sparx asked gesturing toward Cynder.

Cynder growled a little bit as a warning to Sparx, but Bolt was ahead of her, using a very small amount of his wind element, he blew Sparx away like he was caught up in an unexpected gust of wind.

"Whoa, hey!" Sparx cried as he was blown away.

"Hehe thanks Bolt. Do you think we can watch you use your duel elemental attacks when you demonstrate for the professors?" Cynder asked.

"That's up to them really, but it's cool with me if they ok it." Bolt answered.

"Hey Bolt." said a voice from behind them. It was the student disciplinary committee Bahadron, Levia, and Taimus.

"Yeah? What is it?" asked Bolt.

"Good job defending yourself against Trent and his goons Bolt, though I wish you'd let us handle that." said Bahadron,

"Ehe, sorry Bahadron, but the situation couldn't have ended differently with them blocking the door and them charging for me." said Bolt

"Don't worry about Bolt we know you couldn't help it." said Levia,

"Yeah, you really taught those three a thing or two about underestimating a young dragon." praised Taimus.

"Thanks, but complementing me is not why you're here right?" asked Bolt.

"No it is not. The professors want to see demonstrate your elemental abilities." Bahadron announced.

"Can Spyro and Cynder come too?" asked Bolt.

"Actually the professors want them there too, so it is fortunate that all three of you are here together." said Levia.

"Ok then please lead the way then." asked Bolt.

The six of them left to where the other professors were waiting to see if Bolt really could be a Storm dragon. A few minutes later they have arrived at the training dojo, Terrador sat directly across from them on the far side of the training ground, the other professors sat next to him. To Terrador's right there was Volteer, Titanus, Pinarus, and Crystal. To his left was Cyril, Star, and two other dragonesses he did not recognize. One of them was a dragoness with navy blue scales with a light blue underside and a slightly bulged stomach, her horns and wing membrane were a cerulean color, and her wing membrane was slightly transparent, she had fins on the sides of her head which mostly covered her gills and a dorsal fin that went all the down her back, her tail blade was in a fan shape, her snout was short and round, and her horns were like the horns of big horn sheep. The other dragoness with pure white scales, a silvery white underside and a slender body, her horns and wing membrane were a yellow color, her snout was rounded and medium length, horns were like gazelle antlers, her tail blade is shaped like a leaf.

"Hello Bolt I'm Marina and this is Aurora. Marina introduced herself and Aurora as Aurora bowed her head when her name was spoken.

"We have heard from Volteer that you are in fact a Storm Dragon, is that statement correct?" Terrador asked,

"Yes sir, or so I'm told." Bolt answered.

"it is only natural for a young dragon, such as yourself, with no parents to question what he is, even after he learns what he may be." said Pinarus,

"Which is why we are here in the dojo to see if you truly are a Storm Dragon." said Titanus.

"Please enter the ring young one." Cyril requested.

Bolt stepped inside the dojo's training ring where training dummies appear for those who enter it to fight against and hone their skills without harming others. The disciplinary comity, Spyro, and Cynder remained where they were for they were not a part of the demonstration.

"We only wish to see you use your elements, you may use your physical abilities, but you must use your elements as well." Terrador informed Bolt. Bolt nodded signaling that he understood before taking a more ready battle stance.

"Begin!" Terrador shouted. Five small ape dummies appeared with two medium dummies and one big dummy, not Sparx, an ape dummy. Three of the small dummies attacked first, Bolt held his ground until they where close enough to leap for him as if to pounce on him, but as they were in mid-air he fired his "Zap Tunnel" as he calls it and hits them square in the chests. They spun around in the air colliding into each other as they zapped by the currents of electricity within the tunnel of air. The other two small dummies charged in but remained low, Bolt used only his wind element to propel himself straight up into the air then shifted to his electricity element to zap them as they passed under him. With the five small dummies down the two medium dummies charged in as Bolt landed back onto the ground. Bolt then used a Storm bomb on them as they got close to each other. The Electricity half of the bomb struck first causing them to fly away from each other at first, then the Wind half took effect creating a tornado that brought the two back towards the center of the bomb. As the tornado raged the Electrical half of the bomb was still going of creating a pulses of electricity that lined the inside of the tornado striking the two dummies. When the effects of the bomb ended the two dummies fell to the ground and struggled back onto their feet as quickly as they could. Bolt charged at them and rammed at the one to his right, but it was not a normal tackle though. Bolt's horns were actually charged with electricity and once he made contact with the dummy the energy practically exploded and sent the dummy flying, Bolt almost was sent flying in the opposite direction if not for using his Wind element to keep himself from going too far. Bolt was surprised with himself when he did that. He meant to charge and then blast the dummy with electricity, but something much better had happened.

The other medium dummy charged and swung with his sword, Bolt used his wind element to jump over and toward the dummy. He moved his right claw to strike the dummy, but he took the exact same mindset that he had when he charged the other dummy and his idea had worked. Instead of just slashing the dummy, it was hit by a charged claw that sent it spinning in the air like it was doing a ballet step. Finally the large "ape" dummy came in for the attack. Bolt side jumped the dummy's weapon then shot an electrical orb at it, the orb landed it's mark and exploded making the dummy stagger to it's left. The dummy retaliated by swinging it's sword from the ground where it was when it first attacked, Bolt dodged the counter by using his wind element to jump high and over the dummy. As he passed over the dummy he focused his electricity element into his tail-blade and just swung it, though the tail-blade itself never touched the dummy, a beam of sorts flew from Bolt's tail-blade and dealt a very lethal blow to the dummy ending the demonstration.

"Well done Bolt. You truly are a Storm Dragon." said Titanus as Bolt landed on the ground with wobbly legs due to exhaustion from using his elements so much.

"It is most strange and fortunate for us as teachers of this academy." said Pinarus.

"Why, pant, is that?" asked Bolt as he tried to catch his breath.

"The Storm Dragons were an actual clan of themselves, in fact they were the most common of the duel elemental dragons to the point that their numbers grew to great an immense size. They also had a strange power what that was is lost to the flow of time. Eventually they took themselves into the mountains of Keirmintalk (K-ear-min-tall-k) near Tall Plains. They thrived their for many years, until that is something strange happened. The Storm Dragons suddenly disappeared, what had happened to them we don't know. Any record of their kin were greatly lost during the wars with the Malefor and the Dark Armies so it was widely be believed that they were wiped out by unknown means, or so we thought." explained Cyril.

"Whether by chance or some unknown hand of fate, a Storm Dragon stands before us now." said Marina.

"Volteer and I will do our best to teach each of your elements as individuals, but as far as the combination of the two you will have to learn how they work on your own Bolt." said Star.

"Now that we know for absolute certain that you are indeed a Storm Dragon Bolt. We ask that you be very careful with you powers particularly those intriguing melee attacks you did." said Titanus.

"Understood professor." replied Bolt.

"Now touch the green crystals to regain some strength and go rest for the day. We will help you catch up on your school work later." said Terrador.

After Bolt recharged his mana and slept for the remainder of the day, many miles from the academy, a strange device was still hovering near the dojo's exterior sending what it had seen to a far off place. And the person who was watching was not happy at all….
