Raven pulled her knees into her chest as she sat on her bed. Luckily she hadn't cried out when she woke up so she was left alone with her thoughts. Robin had just told her not to try to bring him back.
Maybe that was his spirit telling me to let go.
Then why did he refer to himself in the third person?
A mistake.
It was probably just my subconscious, making a dream.
He had logic to his point.
Maybe.
Even if he did come back, he'd just go back to Starfire.
She continued to argue with herself until she felt sadness and anger coming from down the hallway. Curious, Raven got up to investigate.
Raven followed the emotions to Beast Boy's room. She stood outside until she heard a thump from inside. Worried for her friend's safety, she teleported through the door.
Instead of someone attacking, like she had thought, Beast Boy was laying on his floor. Raven sighed in relief; he was just having a nightmare. Raven used her powers to put him in his bed. Then, she decided that it was time to wake him up when another wave of anger wash over her from her sleeping friend.
"Beast Boy." She whispered, not wanting to wake Cyborg or Starfire, while shaking him. "Beast Boy."
He moaned and turned over on his side.
"Beast Boy."
"Terra." He moaned rolling over again.
"Beast Boy, wake up!" Raven whispered harshly.
His eyes slowly opened. When he noticed Raven, he quickly sat up.
"Raven? W-What are you doing in here?" He asked.
"You were having nightmares." Raven said, emotionlessly.
"Oh, yeah I guess I was." He said, awkwardly. After that, he jokingly asked, "Was that the main reason you were in here, or were you watching me sleep?"
Raven smacked him upside the head.
"Ow." He muttered.
Raven was just about to leave, when she saw something on the floor. It shouldn't have been able to be seen in this lighting, but it was right in front of her, clear as day. It was that shadow that had been haunting Raven.
It appeared in the doorway. It walked up to the closet door, forming on the wall as it moved closer. It moved slightly, and then it disappeared.
Slowly, it reappeared in the ground and walked out.
"Whacha doin'" Beast Boy asked, as he followed Raven's eyes, looking at the floor then the wall.
"Nothing." Raven replied dreamily.
Cyborg and Starfire were playing volleyball against Beast Boy while Raven was sitting nearby, reading the book she had been obsessing with. Beast Boy was having a hard time keeping up; when they used to play, he was teamed up with Robin. Beast Boy was tired and didn't want to play anymore, but Starfire had insisted that they play.
"That so wasn't fair!" Beast Boy exclaimed as the ball fell off of the roof.
"I can switch the teams if you want." Starfire suggested.
"Nah, its fine, Star." Beast Boy declined before changing into a hawk and flying down the roof to get the ball.
He brought the ball back up to the roof and they continued the game.
Beast Boy hit the ball over the net and it flew past Cyborg and Starfire. It kept going, about to hit Raven.
"Raven, look out!" Beast Boy yelled, but not soon enough. Raven was hit in the back with the ball, causing her book to fly out of her hands and into the sea.
Raven turned to glare at Beast Boy after watching her book soar into the ocean.
"Oopsies." Beast Boy said, scratching the back of her neck.
Raven's eyes seemed to flicker away, turning into four red ones, but she composed herself before anything else could happen. She walked past him, angrily (or at least as angrily as she could without losing her temper and destroying the whole tower) and left the roof.
"What's her problem?" Beast Boy asked, "It was just a stupid book. Why doesn't she just buy another one?"
"Raven has been off for a little over a month now, just let it go." Cyborg said.
"A little over a month?" Beast Boy asked, not getting what Cyborg meant.
"Yeah, little over a month." Cyborg said, sadly. Then Beast Boy understood, Robin died a little over a month ago; they had all been "off" for over a month now.
"Oh."
"I shall go make sure Raven is all of the right." Starfire said, probably sensing where the conversation was headed.
Once she was gone, Beast Boy asked, "Hey Cy, will you help me out with something?"
Raven stalked down the hallways of the tower. Beast Boy had just destroyed her only hopes of finding answers in the mess she found herself in. Ram (1), the main character, had just heard the voice of his lost love. Raven had hoped that if she read far enough, it would tell her how to bring Robin back. Unfortunately, she didn't get that far.
Raven walked into her room and locked the door behind her. She needed to bring him back, now. She didn't care if he went back to Starfire or just left the Titans entirely (well, she would mind, but at least it wouldn't kill her like his death has).
Raven grabbed her spell books, hoping for a luck that had eluded her the previous times that she had checked.
Starfire knew that her friend needed help. The night before, she had dreamt that Raven was trying to bring back Robin, but it ended in her death. Starfire wanted to do everything to prevent that. Her best friend would not die in a hopeless quest to bring back the dead.
Starfire walked up to her friend's door. She knocked, not expecting anyone to answer. As she waited, an idea struck her. She smiled to herself, before knocking louder, waiting for her friend to open her door.
