So I tried to find out whether or not there is a limit on the number of patrons within a nightclub at any one time…and came up empty handed, so for this club there is going to be 400 people. I've never been to a nightclub but it's not all that important anyway and for the story's sake, the water leading to the sprinkler system was easily reached. That and also, the 'kill-total' is beginning to irritate me by this point, so I decided complete it. The length of my chapters? Heh, I've decided that as long as each chapter has 1000 words or over I'm happy, I'm sorry that most find them short, but I know that I'll end up showing preferences and other chapters will suffer for it *cough* second chapter *cough*.

Chapter 13: Light POV

Minutes after Ryuuzaki had left his room in a rush Light received a call from Mikami inviting him out to a nightclub located within the centre of the city. A vampire nightclub. How Mikami had managed to find what Light had dismissed as a myth, was beyond him, but Light wasn't doing anything and the promise of a mass kill that was guaranteed to get him over the 400 kill total was too tempting to pass up. He was going to be this centuries first true Hunter. All his hunts were finally going to mean something, and once he hit that mile-stone he wouldn't need some nobody stranger that went by an alias instead of an actual name. No, he could do whatever he wanted without worrying about a certain dark haired hunter and whether or not he did something wrong.

The taxi came to a stop and Light handed over the correct money whilst stepping out of the car, carrying with him a bag full of bottled holy water. He also ensured that he brought with him the necessary items needed to bless the water should they run out, not that Light planned for that to happen. He never went anywhere without a silver stake and lighter fluid. Nightclubs would be just like any other building, they needed to have sprinkler systems, and where there was a sprinkler system there was a tank filled with water. Or at least Light hoped there was. Maybe hidden away on the roof of the building or something.

He spotted Mikami standing on a corner across from a building sealed off with red-rope and busy with people lining up down the walkway. Faint beats from techno music could be felt through the air, even though the door spent most of its time closed. Light crossed to where Mikami was standing, watching yet another group of people get turned away in favour of a group of others. Light was willing to bet that those getting turned away were humans, for he was certain the group that just entered were vampires.

"Hey, how long have you been here for? Do you have a plan already?" Light asked as he finally reached Mikami. He was dressed differently this time compared to the last two hunts where he had gone in his suit, this time he was wearing a black ensemble consisting of a black turtle-neck and slacks, almost mirroring Light's new ensemble. He looked good, but Light was still hurting over Ryuuzaki's rejection. '…I mean,' Ryuuzaki who?'' Light resisted the urge to smack himself over the head. Luckily Mikami didn't notice that he had been distracted by traitorous thoughts.

"I've been here long enough to know that the only ones allowed entrance are vampires, the bouncers are vampires and I looked for what you asked for, and found a tank on the roof. I believe it's connected to the sprinkler system." Light repressed a shiver as he felt Mikami's eyes trace over his form.

Clearing his throat slightly Light shifted the bag on his should into a more comfortable position. The crowd had drastically thinned during their conversation, people muttering obscenities and glaring back at the building which now had the doors shut and ropes pulled in. "Looks like they've reached tonight's capacity," Light pointed out to Mikami as he pulled out a silver stake and headed straight for the bouncers. "I would assume that there's at least two access points, the main doorway and one to act as an emergency exit. Mikami, would you go and block any exits you find?" Light kept walking towards his targets, not once looking back to check on Mikami. Which was why he missed the gleam in Mikami's eyes and the smirk playing across his face.

Hiding the stake from view Light calmly approached the two vampires, but seemingly as soon as he reached them both, a call came through on their radios and they both entered the building without even so much as a glance at Light. 'Okay, that was either extremely suspicious, or really lucky.' Either way he wasn't going to stick around long enough to question the motive behind their abrupt abandonment of their position. Approaching the doors Light scoured around for a means of trapping the vampires within the room and his eyes lit upon a rusted chain hidden behind a dumpster. Lucky or planned, Light again used it to his advantage without hesitation. Once again ignoring the warning feeling running through him. 'It can't be anything, it's not like the vampires are going to line up to allow themselves to be killed, what purpose would it serve?' He sent a quick searching glance around him anyway without finding anything that could be a threat to him. Double checking the doors Light backed away and headed around the side of the building looking for a means of access to the roof. Mikami already stood at the base of the emergency ladder.

"Come across any trouble?" Light asked as he shifted the bag again and began the climb up towards the roof, Mikami climbing on up after him in silence. "Fine, don't respond." Light muttered under his breath as he reached the roof. Everything that followed after that was done swiftly and in silence.

The tank was located, the contents within the bag emptied into it. Light did all of this whilst Mikami lurked silently in the shadows cast by other buildings. Not that Light minded much about the lack of help, he knew that aside from a single door he would be responsible for the deaths, even though Mikami had found the place. Throwing the last empty plastic container into the bag, Light zipped it up and pulled out a lighter. Now he had to trigger the sprinkler system. Up until this point Light had been hoping for a truly sensitive detector, vampires being highly susceptible to fire and all. The question was, did he light something on fire and throw it into the building? Or should he light something and allow the air-conditioner fans located on the roof do the rest. If he was on the ground he could catch any fleeing vampires should they escape, if he was on the roof he wouldn't be able to catch them in time.

"Ground it is then." Stuffing the lighter back into his pocket Light began his descent down the ladder, no longer caring if Mikami was going to follow or not. 'I mean seriously, what's his problem?' It was almost as though while he was more than happy to track the vampires and go on hunts, when it came down to it he was utterly useless. 'If he doesn't stop acting that way he's going to get me killed.' Reaching the ground Light pulled out his lighter and grabbed a newspaper from the dumpster.

Dropping the bag Light riffled through it, pulling out an empty bottle and one full of lighter fluid. Filling the plastic bottle full by 1/3, tearing the newspaper and stuffing it into the bottle. Getting to his feet Light approached a barred window and with a deep breath and quick jab with his clothed elbow he shattered a small portion of the window, large enough for the bottle to fit through. Lighting the newspaper within the bottle Light through it through the gap and watched as it rolled away into darkness, bringing into light vampires and furniture. It took only minutes for the loud screeching of the fire-alarms to start and the vampires began panicking, screams of pain filled the air as the holy water streamed down upon the crowd. Vampires turned instantly to ash whilst others shrieked and burned, blistering as they rushed to the barred exits only to turn to ash wasting time trying to open the door. The water still rained down upon the crowd, which had significantly thinned since the beginning, and more vampires turned to ash as the holy water burned away at them. And even though Light should have felt victorious about the mass-kill, he couldn't stop thinking about how easy it had all be. For the attack had simply been too easy. 'Too easy, far, far too easy.' Screams pounded into his skull even as the weight of just what he had done swamped him. He had undoubtedly managed to obtain the kill total, but with the way things fell into place Light knew deep down that he had been set-up, he just didn't know who was pulling the strings. A hand landed upon Light's should causing him to jump a mile before lashing out with the silver stake, heart racing as he cursed himself for once again getting distracted. That was twice in 24hrs and hunters were killed for less. Ryuuzaki stared at back at him with shadowed eyes, though the lines of tension could be seen within his defensive pose and Light finally realised that Ryuuzaki had his hand clamped down harshly around Light's wrist, the stake inches away from piercing Ryuuzaki.
