Chapter 14

It was Sunday and Misaki finally got some alone time in her new apartment.

"No Dad, I do not need people hired just to unpack some boxes for me. I can do it myself!" Misaki let out a sigh.

"Yes thank you dad. Take care and Love you." She kept the phone and looked around her messy apartment. It was going to be a long and tiring day.

She had arranged her closet now and was going to make something for herself.

"Awwghh...I forgot.. There's no food in the kitchen!"

I guess I'll have to go shop for the week at least. I'm kinda tired already. Oh well...I won't have time until next Sunday so it's better if I go now. If it takes time, I can grab something to eat on the way.

She got ready and left to go to the supermarket.

Wow.. they've got discount. That necklace looks so pretttyy..!

She thought to herself as she observed the stores that she was passing by.

"Oh! I'm so sorry." She apologized to the person who she bumped into. She turned to look at the person and came across a pair of silver grey eyes that she couldn't help but linger on to.

"Oh hello." He greeted her with a warm smile.

"Kyoya! This is surprising. What brings you here?" She tilted her head slightly in question.

"I'm doing a research on the commoner's way of buying and selling things. Some behaviours are rather odd." Kyoya explained.

"Oh. Well that's nice." She said with a smile.

"What is a person of high standard like you doing here anyway?" He questioned.

"I'm here to shop for some things. I just moved into my new apartment. My father wanted everything to be ready before I moved in but I wanted to do it on my own." Misaki said.

"Hm. Well that's rather intriguing." Kyoya said and walked along with her.

"You're coming along? I mean yeah you can but aren't you busy...observing?" Misaki said regretting not having framed her sentence properly before talking.

"Yes. It's not bad having some company." Kyoya said. Misaki smiled at that.

They were out shopping while he asked her questions like why would she choose one of the many similar packets when none of them were good enough.

"This one is of better quality..comparatively. And it lasts longer. Plus it's at a reasonable price. The other one is much thinner and more expensive which actually doesn't make sense. You see when you boil it the thicker one becomes longer and thinner, of perfect size. Whereas the thin one may tear. You can use that one for experimenting though." She explained.

Kyoya nodded his head and was reading the ingredients. He was concentrating so much at a supermarket that he seemed almost ridiculous. She laughed to herself.

Her stomach growled. She looked embarrassed.

He turned and said, "Why don't we go eat something."

"Okay.. But I'll pay. Let me just pay for these at the counter first." She said. He nodded in agreement.

They were now done shopping and were headed to a normal decent restaurant. They both were pretty hungry and they decided that a fast food joint won't do any good. It was evening already.

They ordered for corn chicken soup and some starters. It was her favourite. Food was served. And she couldn't stop smiling when it was being served. Without looking at him, she started drinking her soup.

He observed her in amazement and smirked a little.

"Is it your favourite?" He asked knowingly.

"Yeah..Sorry. I was also very hungry." She said sheepishly.

"Do you like it?" She asked him.

"Yes. It surprisingly tastes pretty good." He said. He wasn't used to being in such not-so-fancy restaurants.

"As far as I know, your family isn't the type to follow commoner traditions. What makes you live like that?" Kyoya questioned.

"It's true. I don't need to do anything. But I believe it's important to learn to live by yourself at least a little. What's the fun if everything can be done for you. You feel more alive when you do things on your own from scratch." She tried explaining.

"Hm. I still don't get the 'fun' that you talk about." Kyoya stated.

She chuckled. "Ah. Well I guess you can't just imagine it. Maybe you will understand some day." She said it with a smile.

They were done with eating and she felt so much better now. The sun was going to set soon. They walked out of the restaurant.

"Can I reach you home?" Kyoya asked like a gentleman.

"Sure. But I want to walk home. Are you fine with that?" She asked.

"That's alright." He replied.

They were silent for most of the time but it was comfortable. The crowd on the roads was much more calm today. They kept walking and now they were next to an open park. It was empty now that the sun was starting to set.

Misaki rushed to nearest swing and sat on it. She gave him a big smile.

"I hope you don't mind!" She grinned.

He walked up to her and sat on the next one.

"Thanks for coming with me." She said.

"It's no problem. It was worth the time I must say." He said.

She looked up in surprise at him with a cheerful smile and said, "Really?"

"Yes. I learned quite a lot. Also, I guess spending this day wasn't really as bad as I expected it to be." Kyoya said.

She was happy to hear that.

"Also, it's weird. Your family is like mine but you're so normal. I mean I feel calm when I'm with you." He added.

"I'm happy to hear that. Maybe I could call you the next time I want to shop." She grinned. He smiled.

"Okay. That doesn't seem to be a problem." He gave a light but genuine smile.

It was a good day, they thought. They walked home which was just a few minutes away from the park. At the entrance of her building she said,

"I could call you home but there's no place for you to stand there with all the boxes. Plus it's getting late. So maybe next time. Thanks again." She explained.

"That's alright. Goodnight." He said.

"Goodnight."

She was home now. She sat down on her couch and went through her day in her head. It was nice, she thought.

Kyoya was also home now. He was tired but he seemed happy. He recalled his day and smiled to himself.
