A/N. Here's the finale! Thank you to all my loyal reviewers, followers and favouriters (I know it's not a word but tough).

Dumbledore had spent the night pacing his office, he hadn't slept at all. He couldn't even think of doing it. Once he'd got James, Sirius and Remus back his first job had been to get Remus into the hospital wing, it was more than obvious he was seriously injured.

Madam Pomfrey had been left alone with Remus to examine him, and shortly afterwards she had given Dumbledore a summary of her findings. What he heard had shocked him. He had been mercilessly beaten to within an inch of his life and then he'd been put under the cruciatus curse repeatedly.

Dumbledore dropped down into his chair and sighed heavily, after this he'd asked Remus to recount what had happened to him including his kidnap. Dumbledore pressed his fingers against his eyes. He felt like a failure, he should have realised what was going on during that day Remus had felt ostracized. He should have paid more attention. A better Auror wouldn't have been a bad idea either. His friend Alastor would have seen Remus instantly, he should have pushed to have Alastor Moody stationed at Hogwarts.

Remus woke up grudgingly, he felt so comfortable it was unbelievable. He opened his heavy eyes and yawned. He had decided that Madam Pomfrey was no ordinary matron or healer, she was a master. The Goddess of Healing.

She'd given him a large quantity of potions before he had fallen asleep and had performed a number of spells on him as well, but right now, less than 12 hours after arriving at Hogwarts, he felt as good as new. He yawned again and decided a few more hours of sleep couldn't hurt.

"Morning gorgeous!" Sirius trilled from the end of the hospital wing, in a girlishly high voice. Remus groaned and opened his eyes again.

"Morning," he said drowsily as Sirius, James and Peter sat down next to him in newly conjured chairs.

"Do you know how handsome you look when you're tired? All tousle haired and puppy dog eyes, you may just turn me Moony." Sirius said trying to keep a serious tone to his voice.

Remus rolled his eyes and, after much tugging, pulled his arm out from the covers and aimed a half-hearted punch at Sirius' arm.

"We were worried about you when you weren't in the dorm after our argument," James murmured, and cheery atmosphere in the hospital wing changed abruptly.

"It wasn't your fault," Remus muttered, sitting up in bed a little higher avoiding his friend's eyes. "Neither of you," he finished.

"But we should have come after you, not left you to go and get yourself pissed up," Sirius said strongly.

Remus was silent for a while before looking up through his fringe and grinning mischievously.

"I was pretty rat-arsed," he smiled. James and Sirius smiled back, while Peter stayed oddly impassive.

"I mean it was frightening at the time, but now I think back to it, those Death Eaters were probably wetting themselves with the different words I was trying to stun them with. I mean come on 'stufepy'." he continued still smiling. The three boys burst into laughter, and gradually it dispersed into small chuckles and then into silence.

"I'm glad you came, I was about to give up," Remus said quietly, fiddling with the edge of the duvet cover.

Silence overcame the boys once more, all of them realising exactly how much Remus had been through. To say he'd been close to giving up just established everything, normally he'd persevere to the bitter end. He'd really felt very alone.

A few hours later and Remus made his way to the Gryffindor common room. He hadn't seen Melva since he'd got back. When he'd last seen her he was sure that he never wanted to lay eyes on her again, but the information that she'd been under the Imperius curse put everything into a different perspective. It hadn't really been her that had kissed Sirius. James and Sirius had told him that she knew he'd been taken hostage by Voldemort, but not why. Remus was very glad they had left that part out, he wanted to tell her and now was the right time to do it.

"Mel?" he said to the seemingly empty common room. No answer he stepped inside fully and looked around.

"Mel?" he said again louder this time. Silence again. He sighed and sat down on the sofa, Lily had said she was in here. From behind him he heard rushed footsteps running down the stairs. He turned and stood up.

"Remus!" Mel practically yelled throwing herself at him. Remus smiled warmly, catching her in his arms and planting a kiss on her lips.

"I was so worried, when they said Voldemort had you I thought I'd never see you again," she said hurriedly, nuzzling her head into his neck.

"Shh," he murmured, stroking her hair lightly and pulling her down to sit next to him on the sofa.

"What did he do to you?" she asked tentatively. Remus closed his eyes briefly, now was as good a time as any.

"Nothing that would stop me coming back to you," he said giving her hand a small squeeze. She smiled at him and rested her head against his chest. Remus swallowed.

"I have something to tell you though," he said quietly, looking around the common room for anybody that may have sneaked in.

"Mmmm,"

"But before I tell you, you need to realise that I love you and that I would die before I hurt you," he added hurriedly.

He was unsure why he was worried. James, Sirius, Peter and Lily had taken the news of him being a werewolf fine. Maybe not Severus, but he'd nearly ripped him apart just before he found out.

Melva had raised her head slightly to look him in the face.

"You're worrying me Remus what is it?" she said anxiously. Remus cleared his throat.

"Voldemort is recruiting werewolves, and that is the reason he took me," he looked her straight in the eyes.

"What are you saying?" she said sitting up straighter now, holding on to his hands.

"I'm a...," he shook himself "I'm a werewolf," he said hesitantly. He watched for her reaction. She looked down at her lap before snatching her hands out of his. Remus stared at her desperate for some idea to how she was taking this.

When she finally raised her head, he began to wish she never had. A deep scowl had found it's way there, and her eyes held a look of complete revulsion.

"Get away from me," she said lowly. Remus couldn't believe it. It was this kind of thing he'd always dreaded.

"Wha...?"

"I said get away from me," she said louder now, standing up and glaring at him.

"But Mel you said...I love you," he pleaded standing up as she backed away from him.

"Werewolves can't love, they just...they just...they kill...they're animals...you're an animal!" she spat hurrying towards the girls staircase.

Remus followed her. This couldn't be happening.

"But..."

"Stay far away from me Remus. I never want to see you again." and with that she ran up the stairs. Remus watched her go and fell to his knees, silent sobs racked his body.

Obviously not everybody thought the same about werewolves as his friends. Did this mean he would never love? Ever have a girlfriend, wife, children? He shook himself and picked himself off the floor, and walked slowly and dejectedly up the boys staircase.

If that was the case then so be it, he would be more careful with the people he let into his heart from now on.

A/N Tell me nobody liked Melva really. I hope not. Not very open-minded with things like werewolves, giants etc etc etc. Draw your own conclusions as to why. Anyway this is the end of the story so a BIG thank you to all of lovely reviewers, followers and favouriters. THANK YOU! Watch ot for my next story coming up soon.
