REVIEWS = LOVE!
Dear Journal,
The ball turned out beautifully. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Even without the bit of unpleasantness involving Kathleen, it was a wonderful night. I plan to ask Niklaus about his holiday decorations today before Katie and I return to my hotel. Christmas at home was always wonderful. Father was less severe with Damon and he indulged Stefan and I with gifts from December first until Christmas. Even after we left Mystic Falls, Damon tried to make Christmas special. He gave me gifts starting on the first until Christmas. We would spend the holiday with the family we compelled and almost be normal. I do hope he finds somewhere to spend the holiday and is not alone with a bottle of bourbon.
Nikole found Niklaus in the study sharing a drink with Elijah.
"Hello, love," Klaus said as she joined them.
"Hello," she replied as she stood next to him. She smiled brightly at Elijah. "Niklaus, why do you not have any Christmas decorations?" she asked.
"Because I do not usually celebrate Christmas," he told her solemnly.
"Oh," she said disappointed. She had hoped he was waiting until the party had passed to decorate.
"Does that sadden you?" Niklaus asked.
"A little," she answered. "Christmas was an important time with my brothers and even after it was just Damon and I," she told him.
"I would be honored if you would share your Christmas traditions with us," Klaus told her. Nikole looked at him with shining eyes and then threw herself into his arms. Elijah had watched their encounter silently. He liked Nikole. He thought she was good for his brother. Her exuberance made Niklaus happy and that was all that Elijah wanted for his siblings; who had been though so much. Elijah quietly excused himself, leaving the couple alone.
"We o not have much time. We need a tree and decorations and a wreath," Nikole began to list counting on her fingers.
"Let Fitzgerald know what you require, and let me know what you require of me," he said pulling her close. She put her arms around his neck and kissed him eagerly.
"Niki, dear, it is time for us to leave," Katie said as she entered the study. Nikole pulled away from him.
"I will see you later," Nikole said as she exited the study.
"Goodbye for now," he said.
After Nikole handed Fitzgerald the nearly impossible job of finding a nice tree and decorations with less than a week until Christmas, she and Katie returned to the hotel. Katie unpacked Nikole's bag and then began to mend up the button on her corset. Nikole looked away before Katie saw her. She didn't want to explain what had happened and how.
"Nikole, have you picked a dress for Christmas Eve and Christmas?" Katie asked.
"No, I had not given it much thought but I suppose I should," Nikole replied.
"Yes, you should. Granted Mr. Mikaelson will most likely send you something exquisite but in case he does not you should be prepared," Katie said giving Nikole a knowing look. Ignoring Katie's knowing look, Nikole began to go through her dresses for the Christmas holiday.
A couple of day later a bellhop brought a note to Nikole.
Nikole,
Standing in my study is a barren evergreen tree. It requires your assistance to make it reveal it's Christmas glory. The tree and I await you, love.
Yours,
Niklaus
