Jessi's POV

"Let go of me!" My father yelled at the two cops who were tightening the handcuffs on his wrists. I watched a few tears trickle down my mom's face. Why is she crying? Shouldn't she be happy that he's leaving us?

The cops were able to get my father out the front door and into the backseat of their car. Honestly, I was happy that my father was finally leaving us. I hated him.

He beat me all the time, but not as much as he did to my mother. Everyone at school and dance always asked me why I had cuts and bruises all over my body, but I always told them the usual explanation : I fell again, I ran into something again, I was scratched by another cat. Nobody knows my secret. Thank God.

And now my dad is never going to lay a finger on me or my mother again. Thank God.

Brooke's POV

"Mom? What time is it?"

"7:58," I heard my mom call back. Oh no! Brandon's supposed to pick me up for our date at 8:00!

"Paige! Hurry up!" I complained to Paige, who was finishing my hair. "Okay...Done!" Paige exclaimed, a satisfied smile on her face. I took my purple hand mirror and lined it up with my bathroom mirror to see my hair.

My hair looked sleek and shiny, but not greasy. My hair was twisted into an elegant knot at the back of my head, with loose curls hanging down on the right side of my face. Actually, now that I think about it, my hair looks exactly like Hermione Granger's hair when she went to the Yule Ball in Harry Potter.

"Paige! This looks beautiful! Thank-you," I said and pulled her into a sisterly hug. "Your-welcome. Hey! Don't wrinkle your outfit," Paige said. I pulled away from the hug and looked down at my outfit : I was wearing a light pink strapless dress that had a thin black belt on my waist, and a black waist length cardigan. For shoes, I had black flats.

"Ding-dong!"

"Brandon's here!" My mom called out to me. "Coming!" I yelled back.

I turned back to Paige. "Wish me luck," I said, feeling the butterflies swarm around in my stomach. Paige smiled at me and nodded.

"I said wish me luck!" I yelled. "Oh! Good Luck!" Paige exclaimed. A few seconds later, we burst out laughing. "Come on, Brooke!" I heard my mom say again.

I walked down the stairs to see Brandon waiting at the front door. He was wearing a blue plaid shirt with blue jeans on, and black converse. He looked adorable!

"Hey," Brandon said softly. "Hey," I replied nervously.

"Oh," I almost forgot my mom was there. "let me get the camera to take pictures!" My mom ran upstairs to get her camera. "Let's get out of here before she gets back!" I exclaimed to Brandon.

We laughed as we ran out the door and got inside his mother's SUV. She was driving us to the movies for our date. And I couldn't wait.

Chloe's POV

I couldn't stop thinking about Lucas. And the kiss. That moment, when we kissed, keeps replaying in my mind. My first kiss.

I haven't seen Lucas since the kiss. Right after Lucas, Hannah, and I left the MooShake Place, we walked to my house and they dropped me off there. And, it's summer now, so we only have dance on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. So I haven't seen Lucas since...

"BANG, BANG, BANG!" My head snapped towards my window. What was that? It was pouring outside, so it was probably the rain or something.

"BANG, BANG, BANG!" Now I'm scared.

I removed the covers from my body and hopped off my bed. I crouched down on the floor and slowly moved towards my window. When I was close enough, I used 1 index finger to open my curtains. I squinted my eyes to try to figure out what was out there. But I realized it wasn't a what. It was a who...

"Lucas!" I quickly got up and opened my window as fast as I could.

"What are you doing here?! And how did you get up here!?" I asked in concern. Lucas coughed a few times, then pointed down. I looked down, and saw his shoes on a thick tree branch. I forgot there was a tree there...

"Get in here! It must be freezing out there," I said. Lucas carefully made his way through my window, and the water that was dripping off him soaked part of my carpet. Now that I could see him clearly, he was soaked. His hair, clothes, shoes, everything was drenched in water.

I left my room and went to the bathroom to get some towels.

Before I was able to get back into my room, my mom saw me and asked, "Everything okay Chlo?" I nodded nervously. "Yup! I'll be in my room if you need me! Please don't need me," I replied while practically running back into my room.

I got Lucas to wrap his body in a towel, and I put a layer of towels on the edge of my bed so he could sit somewhere. I sat down next to him and said, "Lucas...What are you doing here? And why did you come here while it's pouring?"

Lucas sighed, "I came here because...Because I wanted to talk to you about the-about what happened. But while I was walking here, it starting to rain and I didn't want to show up at your house soaked...So I sorta climbed that tree instead..."

"Well, I've been wanting to talk to you too, but before that we should get you into warmer clothes so you don't get hypothermia," I replied.

Then, I realized that if we wanted to lower the chances of him getting a cold, hypothermia, and wanted him to get warm, he would have to change out of the clothes he was wearing...But I also realized that I probably didn't have any clothes that fit him...

Brooke's POV

"Ah!" I dug my head into Brandon's shoulder so I wouldn't have to watch Baby Johnny brutally kill his nanny with a rattle-stick. I heard Brandon chuckle at my reaction, and I suddenly felt better. Safer.

When the movie ended, we left the theater and went to the arcade. Brandon went strait to the claw machine, and put 2 quarters into the money slot.

"You're never going to get a stuffed animal, ya know. These games are impossible," I teased him, but I was secretly hoping he would win me a stuffed animal.

"You better eat your words, Brooke Hyland. I could get 100 stuffed animals in my sleep," he replied, a smirk on his adorable face.

Brandon moved the joystick around, until he decided where to stop the claw from moving. He pressed the red button, and the claw extended down, and surprisingly grabbed hold of a pink bear.

Brandon reached down into the slot and pulled out the pink bear. He sweetly held it out for me, and I took it. "Thanks," I said. "Anything for you. Even a stuffed animal," Brandon responded.

All of a sudden, he was leaning in...to kiss me! I mean, I've already had my first kiss with Bobby Swarts, but that was when I was at my friend's 14th birthday party and we all played spin the bottle. Ugh, Bobby's breath smelt like potato salad...

Once Brandon's lips were about to touch mine, I created a barrier between us with my bear. I saw Brandon's eyes pop open in surprise.

"Ring ring" Brandon's phone went off, and it was his mom telling him that she was outside the movie theater waiting for us. The walk to the car was awkward, and so was the drive to my house.

When we arrived at my house, Brandon walked me up the steps. "I had fun tonight," I said. Brandon nodded. "Um...See ya later," I started to open the front door, but Brandon pulled me back and his lips crashed onto mine.

I was shocked. But this kiss was much better than Bobby's stinky potato salad...
