"You're starting to look like your mother." I told Laney as I brushed her hair one night. Of course I meant it to be a compliment but instead, she apologized.
"I may look like her but I will never be like her." My daughter said.
"Did you know? Your mother once said that about her own mother once." I chuckled, remembering our own nights.
"No way!" Laney sounded disappointed knowing that. I bent down and looked at her reflection on the mirror.
"You know what I see there?"
"...Who?"
"I see someone who looks like my one-of-a-kind daughter." I smiled
