Saturday: Day Thirteen continued…
The couple watched the glowing crystal wondering what would happen, and squinted their eyes as the glow brightened more and more until they were forced to close them.
When the glow died down Mamoru opened his eyes and saw that Usagi's eyes were still closed with her hand gripped around the crystal. As he watched her he wondered if she was remembering anything new and if he should do anything when a glow began to appear on her forehead.
A gasp escaped him and his eyes widened as he watched a golden crescent moon appear and glow.
She opened her eyes slowly and found herself lying on a very soft bed with sheer curtains in the softest of white hanging around the bed. She sat up and looked around her dark room. It was a large, very large room with silver gray marble floors, so shiny that you could see your reflection in them. Her eyes then came to rest on a large balcony to the left of her bed.
She slid over to the edge of the bed, parted the sheer curtains, and slipped into her shoes and got to her feet. Her white gown flowed down and covered her shoes even though she was wearing heels. She then walked over to the balcony doors, opened them, and stepped out into the night air. Her eyes were immediately drawn to the perfect circular shape of the Earth with its brilliant blue shading, and sighed- content with the beautiful sight.
"Serenity!" She heard a familiar voice call from below and her eyes shifted to the tall figure standing there in a navy blue-gray uniform complete with armor, sword, and cape.
"Endymion." She breathed with a smile gracing her face.
"I hope I did not keep you waiting long." He said.
"Not at all. I shall come down right now." She said and turned around quickly, her long silver gold hair swirling around her. She then took her dress in her hands and pulled it up slightly so she wouldn't step on it, and ran into her room and headed for the door. Once she was outside her room she ran down the long hall, her heels clicking on the marble floor.
'If mother catches me running I'll be in for a long lecture on the etiquette of ladylike manners, and then another on how a Princess should behave.' She thought, but she didn't pause in the slightest. She didn't care if her mother caught her. It would be worth it as long as she got to see Endymion. She had been waiting to see him all day, and had decided to take a short nap to pass the time and escape the uneasy feeling she had when she wasn't with him.
Serenity ran past guards and attendants and down flights of stairs on her way out of the Palace. She was eternally grateful that she had not come across any of her Senshi. She knew that they would have stopped her and prevented her from seeing Endymion, not because they disapproved but because she would not have told them that he was waiting for fear that they would accompany her when she wished to be alone with him.
Once outside the Palace she ran to the entrance to the Royal Gardens where they always spent their time. She saw him standing just inside the entrance and she put on a burst of speed. She sometimes amazed herself at how fast she could run in heels, but she hadn't seen him in weeks and she wasn't going to let decorum get in the way of how she wanted to greet him.
Serenity saw Endymion look up and she gave him just enough time to smile hugely and hold his arms open for her. She slammed into him and felt his arms wrap around and hold her tightly. That was enough to distract her from the pain she felt from hitting his armor so hard.
"Mmm…I love it when you do that. It's nice to see you behave so improper." He said with a chuckle.
"I'm glad that you love it so much, because I can't help it when I'm around you. At least when we're alone anyway." She said, holding him tighter and breathing in his Earthly scent.
"Come, let us walk." He said as he let one of his arms slide away and moved the other to rest around her neck on her bare shoulders.
As they walked Serenity brought her left hand up to her shoulder and entwined her fingers with his with a sigh. They walked in a comfortable silence for a while, just enjoying each other's presence away from royal guards, attendants, and the duty and obligation of their station. They usually didn't have time alone. There would always be one or both of their sets of guards lurking around out of sight, but tonight they were lucky enough to get away from them and they were going to take full advantage of their solitude.
Endymion walked them to a bench that was surrounded in red roses. He had brought seedlings from Earth since he knew how much she loved the flower, and with the conflict between their planets it wasn't possible for her to come to Earth to enjoy them so he brought them to her. He sat them down on the bench and looked deep into her eyes.
Serenity had no doubts what Endymion was going to do; she could see it clearly in his deep ocean blue eyes.
"I've been waiting weeks for this." She whispered as he got closer.
"So have I." He whispered back, his lips inches from hers.
Just as their lips were about to touch there was an extremely loud sound coming from in the distance behind them. They jumped apart, startled by the sound that ripped through the peace and quiet of the night. They looked back the way they came and saw that it was an explosion at the Palace. Serenity gasped in horror as she got to her feet.
Endymion followed suit and grabbed her right hand. "Come on." He said and she grabbed her dress with her left hand and they started running back toward the Palace. As they ran Serenity looked to the sky and noticed that half the sky was darker than the other half and the stars were blotted out. As they reached the Palace there was an explosion from somewhere around back, and royal soldiers were streaming out of the front doors to meet the enemy.
Serenity felt Endymion stiffen next to her when they stopped and she looked up at him and then followed his line of sight and saw what troubled him.
"Is that…" She began.
"Yes." He said before she could finish.
Marching toward the Moon's royal soldiers were the royal soldiers of the Earth with his four generals in the lead. They looked the same but he knew something was different about them, and he knew for a fact that they wouldn't do something like this without his order. He just couldn't understand why they were doing this, why they were attacking the Moon.
Then a woman with long, wavy red hair appeared in front of them with an evil smile plastered on her face.
"Prince Endymion. There you are." The redhead said.
"Beryl! This is your doing." Endymion said with a look of pure disgust on his handsome face.
"Yes, with much help from Metallia." She said with a gesture to the black sky behind her where evil looking eyes appeared. There was a menacing laugh that echoed around them, so chilling that Serenity shivered. She realized with a start that it had come from the thing called Metallia and she clung to Endymion's hand tighter. "Come to the winning side my Prince. Be with me. These Moon freaks won't be around much longer." She said in what she must have thought was a seductive voice.
Serenity felt the shudder that ran through Endymion's body, and was amazed that he was able to keep a straight face. She couldn't stop the grimace that flashed across her face.
Endymion looked past Beryl to the two massive armies and listened to the hateful words his people were shouting and he frowned as he looked back to Beryl. "You have brainwashed my people. Used their weaknesses, their insecurities against them, and you expect me to join you?" He said incredulously.
"We haven't used anything against them. We all just finally decided to do something about these Moon people since you wouldn't. They think they're better than us, above us because of their power and long lives." She spat out bitterly, and when she spoke of power Serenity knew that she was speaking specifically of her and her mother since they were the only ones able to use that power.
"They don't think they're above us. They cannot help the way of their people, the way they were born. They have the power they do and the long lives to help them do what they have done for centuries, which is to protect this part of the galaxy, including the Earth." He tried to explain to her hoping that reason would somehow help her break loose of Metallia's influence.
"You side with these people? You make excuses for them?" She said in outrage.
"My people are now lost to me. I will do what I can for the people of the Moon." He said, his voice calm and full of determination, as he squeezed Serenity's hand.
"You choose them over your own people?" She said and her eyes zeroed in on Serenity and Endymion's entwined hands. "You choose her over me?" She asked, her voice a mix of jealousy and rage.
Endymion knew exactly what she meant. He had realized that she held an interest in him long before he met Serenity. He had no interest in her then and he certainly didn't have any in her now. His heart belonged to Serenity and always would.
"Always." He said, his voice clearly conveying how much he loved Serenity.
Serenity squeezed Endymion's hand as she looked up at him. Even with the situation being what it was she couldn't help smiling at his sincerity.
Endymion looked down at Serenity's smiling face and he couldn't stop the smile that came to his face.
Beryl seethed in jealousy as she heard his answer and watched them gazing into each other's eyes.
"Then I'll just have to get rid of her." She shouted and Serenity and Endymion's head snapped toward her sharply. "Metallia kill her! With her dead the Royal Moon line will end!" She shouted angrily.
Serenity watched, frozen in fear, as the black mass of Metallia began to gather energy to its mouth. She took a deep shuddering breath at the same time Metallia shot a stream of powerful energy at her, and the next thing she knew, Endymion was standing in front of her with his arms wrapped around her. She felt the shock of the blast as it hit Endymion in the back, and she cried out at the same time he did and watched as he collapsed to the ground.
"No." She whispered in horror as blood started to pool around him. She immediately went to his side and dropped to her knees. "Endymion! Endymion!" She called to him as she gripped his left hand in both hers. She didn't know what Beryl or Metallia were doing and she didn't care. Her only thought, her only concern was Endymion.
He opened his eyes slowly and looked at her. "You need to get to safety Serenity. Find your Senshi." He said weakly.
"I want to stay with you." She said as tears began to stream down her face.
"You can't." He said as his eyes began to close.
"No…don't go." Her voice was filled with pain, and she watched as he struggled to open his eyes. "Please…please don't leave me." She begged.
Endymion looked at her sadly, his breathing shallow.
"I can't…I can't live without you." She choked out through her sobs.
"I'm sorry." He said, squeezing her hands with the last of his energy as his eyes closed.
"No! No!" She screamed, her heart breaking. She felt his hand go limp in her hands and her heart skipped a beat. "Endymion!" She screamed as the pain of her broken heart took over.
She leaned over him, tears falling on his lifeless face as she gazed at him. "Come back. Please come back." She whispered as her tears continued to bathe his face. 'If you cannot come back to me then I will come to you.' She thought after a few moments of crying. She then grabbed the hilt of his sword and pulled it from its sheath at his waist.
She laid it on her lap and caressed his face. "I love you Endymion." She said quietly. She then took a deep breath as she lifted the sword and plunged it into her chest as hard as she could.
Serenity screamed at the intense burning pain that flooded her body, but she continued to push until she could no longer do so. She whimpered as she pulled the sword out and dropped it at her side, already unable to hold its weight.
Tears streamed down her face as she collapsed next to her prince's body. Her chest hurt so much. It burned but the pain was slowly lessening. She could feel herself getting weaker, tired.
She became slightly scared when she began to have trouble breathing, and wondered if Endymion felt the same way before he passed.
'It is okay. I will be with Endymion soon.' She told herself consolingly as she groped around until she found his hand and gripped it as tightly as she could, both their spilt blood making her fingers slippery.
'I wish…' She paused as she coughed, blood trickling down her cheeks. 'I wish we can be born on the same planet next time around.' She wished as her eyes closed, her eyelids too heavy to keep open. 'Please, help me to find him so we can be together again.' She asked the silver crystal through the connection she had to it.
Serenity felt a slight warmth in her body as her breathing slowed and she smiled in unconscious understanding just as her breathing stopped and she knew no more.
Mamoru continued watching Usagi with wide eyes to see what else would happen if anything, and was shocked when she started glowing softly. Her clothing seemed to slowly fade away before a beautiful familiar flowing white gown replaced them, and her beautiful hair formed itself into the style he was so used to seeing on her.
Usagi gasped softly and slowly opened her eyes. She looked at Mamoru, searching his face and eyes, before placing the bright crystal in his hand. She closed his fingers around it and covered his hand with hers then placed her free hand on his face, both of them ignoring the electric jolts for the time being.
"Remember." She whispered to him as she focused on conveying that wish to the crystal in his hand.
Mamoru had just understood that it was Princess Serenity speaking to him when a glow began to emit from his hand, growing brighter and brighter, undeterred by their hands, until he had to close his eyes.
Endymion walked alongside the Moon Palace anxious to see his Princess. It had been far too long in his opinion, weeks, and he had made sure he would make their time tonight.
He looked ahead of him and saw the balcony he was heading for. He reached it just in time to see his Serenity step out and looked up into the sky toward his planet.
"Serenity!" He called and watched as she looked down, a smile forming on her face as she spotted him.
"Endymion." She said in greeting.
"I hope I did not keep you waiting long." He said.
"Not at all. I shall come down right now." He heard her say before she turned and disappeared from sight.
Endymion turned and headed directly for the Royal Gardens knowing that was where she would go since they always spent their time there. Once he made it to the entrance he stood there and waited for her, and within moments he saw her running toward him, amazing him at how she could run in heels.
He held his arms open, smiling widely at her as she moved closer and closer, and laughed as she slammed into him and wrapped her arms around him.
"Mmmm…I love it when you do that. It's nice to see you behave so improper." He said with a chuckle.
"I'm glad that you love it so much, because I can't help it when I'm around you. At least when we're alone anyway." She said as she held him tighter.
"Come, let us walk." He said as he let one of his arms slide away and moved the other to rest around her neck and on her bare shoulders.
Endymion smiled as he felt Serenity link their fingers as they walked in comfortable silence. He was pleased that they were alone. They both had managed to get away from their guard, which was nearly a miracle as far as he was concerned. It was hard to have some privacy with the most important person in his life with one or more of both of their guards following them around like distant shadows.
He was going to take full advantage of their alone time. He led her to the bench surrounded by the sea of roses he had gifted her when he proposed to her. He caringly helped her sit before settling next to her and gazing into her eyes, hoping she could read his intent.
"I've been waiting weeks for this." He heard her whisper as he leaned closer to her.
"So have I." He whispered back, his lips inches from hers.
Just before their lips touched an extremely loud sound rang through the peace and quiet of the night, startling them, causing them to jump apart. When they looked they saw that it was an explosion at the Moon Palace, and Serenity sprang to her feet in horror.
Endymion got to his feet and grabbed her hand, telling her to come as they rushed back. He couldn't imagine what happened and it worried him.
As they reached the Palace another explosion rang from out of sight and they watched as royal guards came rushing out of the Palace to meet the threat.
Endymion followed their path and stiffened in shock at what met his eyes. He could hardly believe what he was seeing. He couldn't believe it, but there it was clear as day.
"Is that…" He heard Serenity begin.
"Yes." He said in quiet distress before she could finish.
Marching toward the Moon's royal soldiers were the royal soldiers of the Earth with his four generals in the lead. They looked the same but he knew something was different about them. He knew for a fact that they wouldn't do something like this without his order. He just couldn't understand why they were doing this, why they were attacking the Moon. Why do this knowing how he would feel, and knowing there was no reason for it?
Suddenly a woman with long wavy red hair appeared in front of them with an evil smile plastered on her face.
"Prince Endymion. There you are." The female said.
"Beryl! This is your doing." Endymion said with a look of pure disgust on his handsome face, suddenly understanding what had happened to his generals.
"Yes, with much help from Metallia." She said with a gesture to the black sky behind her where evil looking eyes appeared.
There was a menacing laugh that echoed around them and he frowned at the sound. He felt his Serenity tighten her hold on his hand, and he frowned even more at the knowledge that she was frightened.
"Come to the winning side my prince. Be with me. These Moon freaks won't be around much longer." The woman said in what she must have thought was a seductive voice.
Endymion shuddered in disgust but kept his feelings from showing on his face. She was delusional if she thought that would work on him. It was a false disgusting sound. Everything about her was false just as he had known when he first met her long before his Serenity came into his life.
He looked past Beryl to the two massive armies and listened to the hateful words his people were shouting and looked back to Beryl.
"You have brain washed my people. Used their weaknesses, their insecurities against them, and you expect me to join you?" He said incredulously.
"We haven't used anything against them. We all just finally decided to do something about these Moon people since you wouldn't. They think they're better than us, above us because of their power and long lives." She spat out bitterly, and he knew that she was speaking of Serenity and her mother since he was aware that they were the only ones capable of using that power.
He wondered idly what she would think if he told her that by her own reasoning he too was above her because of the power he was capable of using.
'She would probably see that as a bonus to getting me.' He thought with a frown.
"They don't think they're above us. They cannot help the way of their people, the way they were born. They have the power they do and the long lives to help them do what they have done for centuries, which is to protect this part of the galaxy, including the Earth." Endymion tried to explain to her, hoping that reason would somehow help her break loose of Metallia's influence.
Although, he knew realistically it wouldn't work. She had clearly been under the evil influence for a long time, and believed the death of the people of the Moon - of Serenity- would somehow get her what she wanted which was him.
Mamoru's eyes opened, unseeing of his surroundings, and started to glow golden. She watched as he began to glow, his clothing changing into a navy blue uniform, armor, and a black red-lined cape.
"You side with these people? You make excuses for them?" Beryl said in outrage.
"My people are now lost to me. I will do what I can for the people of the Moon." Endymion said, his voice calm and full of determination as he squeezed Serenity's hand.
"You choose them over your own people?" Beryl said and her eyes zeroed in on Serenity and Endymion's entwined hands.
It was true after all. He had already chosen his love for Serenity over what could possibly result between their planets because of their relationship. Serenity had been fearful of war, which was clearly happening, but it was also clear that it hadn't happened because of their relationship. It had happened because of this woman's jealousy of their relationship and the fact that he did not want her.
Endymion looked down at Serenity's smiling face when he felt her squeeze his hand and he couldn't stop the smile that came to his face.
Beryl seethed in jealousy as she heard his answer and watched them gazing into each other's eyes.
"Then I'll just have to get rid of her." She shouted and Serenity and Endymion's head snapped toward her. "Metallia kill her! With her dead the Royal Moon line will end!" She shouted.
Endymion watched as the black mass of Metallia began to gather energy to its mouth and shot a stream of powerful energy directly at his Princess.
'No!' He thought in panic as he moved in front of Serenity, wrapping his arms around her in the only protection he could give her in the time they had.
He felt the blast hit his back, going through his armor, and he cried out at the horrendous pain and collapsed to the ground, his legs unable to hold his weight under the intense pain.
"No." He barely heard the whisper. "Endymion! Endymion!" He heard a voice frantically call him, but it sounded so far away.
'Serenity.' He told himself softly as he thought he felt her holding his hand. He would know her voice anywhere. He opened his eyes slowly, not remembering when he closed them, and looked at her.
"You need to get to safety Serenity. Find your Senshi." Endymion said weakly, painfully aware that he was dying and leaving her.
"I want to stay with you." He heard her say and watched as tears began to stream down her face.
"You can't." He said as his eyes began to close.
"No…don't go." Serenity's voice was filled with pain, and he struggled to open his eyes. "Please…please don't leave me." She begged.
Endymion looked at her sadly, his breathing shallow. He wished, more than anything, that he could do as she asked, but he knew that he could not and it broke his heart.
"I can't…I can't live without you." She choked out through her sobs.
"I'm sorry." He breathed out, squeezing her hands with the last of his energy as his eyes closed.
Mamoru blinked his eyes as he took deep breaths and looked at Usagi, his eyes roaming her face. He dropped the crystal in his hand, letting it fall to the couch, and cupped her face in his hands.
"Serenity." He said softly as his thumbs caressed her cheeks.
"Endymion." She breathed with a smile as she gazed at him as if she were memorizing his face.
"I've finally found you." He whispered as he leaned his forehead against hers, both of them more Serenity and Endymion in that moment then Mamoru and Usagi.
He brought his lips to hers in a soft kiss, pulling back after a few moments only to bring them back again with more intensity, his tongue begging for entrance. She opened immediately and the intensity of their kiss continued, full of the passion, fear, pain, sadness, anger, and relief they felt for each other. The electric jolts they were so used to feeling only intensifying their strange unique reunion.
When the kiss ended they held each other, enjoying being in each other's arms again, in each other's presence.
"Was that more pleasing than our first kiss last time?" Endymion asked.
"Most definitely." Serenity said as she looked up with a blush. She then shifted until she could reach the crystals and held them, looking at them as she leaned against her Prince. "I've held one before. Why did it not affect me then?" She asked.
"Perhaps it is because you have not handled it outside of being a senshi. Did you ever take it out and examine it?" Endymion asked, considering that as a possible reason the rainbow crystal she had carried didn't affect her before.
"No." She answered as she shook her head slightly. "I am sure Luna would have said something about me playing with such an important item." She said bitterly, not having forgotten the feline's behavior toward her.
Endymion shook his head and tightened his hold on his Princess. He didn't have all of his memories back but he remembered enough to know that she was the same in their past, simply less intense because she was expected to behave a certain way as a princess. He was aware that they wouldn't have known that since they didn't remember, but it shouldn't have mattered. They were supposed to be her friends.
And Mars! He thought, his eyes flashing golden as his rage from their encounter days earlier resurfaced. She was supposed to protect Serenity and be her friend and companion, and yet she was focused on jealousy and petty feelings that she had no business and no reason, as far as he was concerned, to feel.
"Will you tell your Senshi?" He asked, his voice serious. Because they were her Senshi. They answered to her. They were not just guardians.
"No." She answered firmly and instantly. "We should keep my identity a secret for now. We don't want or need that kind of attention. It might alert the enemy if the Senshi began to act differently, as if they were protecting something." She said as she looked to him and watched him nod.
"I also do not know how they will react to such news." She admitted softly. "They had problems with me simply being Usagi and Sailor Moon. What if suddenly their apologies become meaningless and they start to expect more from me because I'm the one they have been looking for." She said.
"Plus, I do not want them around me simply because I am their Princess, and I especially do not want to force Rei into my company." She added.
"I understand. It is completely understandable." Endymion said as he rubbed one of her arms comfortingly.
"Perhaps…" She began after a few moments of silence. "Perhaps I can tell them after I have the silver crystal." She suggested. "We still need to find it. Not only because it's mine and I need to keep it out of enemy hands, but it might unlock the rest of our memories." She explained, knowing that neither of them remembered completely.
Endymion frowned as she spoke. Something was bothering him and it had since she first asked about the rainbow crystals effect on her. Then he suddenly recalled that he too had a crystal, and that it was inside of him.
"I just remembered that I have a crystal too." He stated to Serenity. "Perhaps I can use it somehow to help hide your changing hair color before anyone notices." He suggested.
"That's a good idea." Serenity said. My crystal can do the same but we still need to find it. She thought. "Do you remember how to get to your crystal?" She asked.
"Unfortunately no, but it is something I am going to focus on, because there is no way to explain your hair color and it will bring undue attention to you." Endymion explained and watched her nod.
"I am considering contacting Minako and seeing how trustworthy she is since now that I know undeniably that I am the Moon Princess they have been looking for I am going to have to be involved with the Senshi." Serenity said thoughtfully. "Although, I am still unsure about being Sailor Moon again, especially since I know I wasn't a senshi in the past."
"I support you completely. I am here for you. You can even meet her here if you want." Endymion said supportively. "If you are going to tell her that you are the Moon Princess then you can tell her about me as well."
"Thank you. I would like to do it here." She said with a nod.
"Okay. I'll help you." Endymion stated. "We will make sure she keeps our secret, because I do not want the other senshi to know about my identities." He promised.
Serenity nodded and got to her feet and walked to the phone, and dialed the number she had made sure to memorize just in case she did not have it on her if she decided to use it.
"Hello?" A female voice answered.
"Is this Aino Minako?" Serenity asked softly.
"Yes." Minako answered.
"This is Tsukino Usagi. I believe I'm ready to talk, so I was wondering if you can meet me somewhere." She said.
"Oh. Yes yes. Wherever you want. I can be there." Minako said.
Serenity gave her Mamoru's address and apartment number and quietly told her to leave Artemis behind, because she only wanted to talk to her for now. Minako agreed and said she would be there as soon as possible. They said goodbye and once Serenity hung up the phone she went back to sit with her Prince.
"These have to do with your silver crystal somehow, so I believe you should have them." Endymion said as he held out the two rainbow crystals to her.
"Will you keep them since you're better suited to protect them?" She asked and watched him nod and put them away in his subspace pocket.
"I believe we should change." Endymion stated. "Unless you wish to greet your senshi as a princess."
Serenity shook her head and they both released their royal forms, knowing they could change back anytime now that they remembered.
45 minutes later…
The couple relaxed comfortably on the couch; Usagi leaning against Mamoru as he ran his fingers through her loose hair. They had noticed a significant amount of silver among her hair when they returned to their normal everyday forms, but there was nothing they could do so they did not worry about it.
As they waited for Minako they talked about what memories they had remembered with their royal identities revealed, having no problem referring to each other comfortably by their past names. They talked about their last time on the Moon and Mamoru gently asked what happened after he died. He was sad, hurt, and a bit angry that his Princess had killed herself, and had done it with his sword no less. His only consolation was the knowledge that with the events that were happening, and who had been there, she would have died anyway so it was better to go in her own way.
A knock sounded on the door, interrupting their conversation, and Mamoru got up to answer it. He opened the door and instantly recognized the girl who had spoken to Usagi the day before as well as Sailor Venus from his memories.
He invited her in and closed the door then went and stood next to Usagi who had stood when she saw who was at the door. The three of them stood in the living room, silent as they watched each other, wondering who would speak first.
Finally Mamoru ran a hand over Usagi's head and down through her hair, getting her attention. When she looked at him he raised an eyebrow, silently asking what she wanted to do as his hand came to a stop on her lower back. Usagi nodded and took a small breath as she looked back to Minako.
"Minako…Sailor Venus." She said and watched her blink and look to Mamoru. Usagi did the same and received an encouraging nod, so she turned back to Minako.
"I don't know if I can trust you but I'm willing to give you this chance. You said you would respect my privacy. I would like you to respect his as well before we begin talking." She said.
Minako wasn't completely sure what was going on but she nodded her agreement, sensing she was about to get some answers to her questions.
Usagi motioned for Minako to sit in the side chair while she and Mamoru resumed their seats on the couch.
"I want to get something out before we start talking and then we can go from there." Usagi said and watched Minako nod. "You already know that I was Sailor Moon. I am also Princess Serenity of the Moon. You know him" She said, gesturing to Mamoru as if Minako really did know him. "as Tuxedo Kamen. He is also Prince Endymion of Earth."
Minako's eyes widened. Usagi knew she was the Moon Princess! And she had been right. Chiba Mamoru was Tuxedo Kamen and Prince Endymion! This was big.
"Okay. I knew that you were the Moon Princess. Artemis knows as well. I have some of my memories of the past but not all." Minako admitted as she nodded slightly. "The first time I saw you when I got to the city I knew that you had to be the Earth Prince since you looked identical to the man in my memories." She said to Mamoru.
Mamoru nodded and took a breath. He wouldn't let his Serenity do all the talking even if this was her senshi. He had said he would help and besides that he knew it would be hard for her considering how the other senshi had treated her.
"We only remembered without a doubt today just before she called you. Before that we had been dreaming of memories, remembering more details with each dream." He said as he looked to Minako.
"I had been dreaming of him since the day I became Sailor Moon although the only thing I remembered was his name and how it made me feel. It wasn't until a few days ago that I began to remember details of the dreams and what he looked like." Usagi said.
"I had been dreaming of her since I was a child. It stopped for a few years but started again when Sailor Moon first appeared. I could never see her face but she begged me every time to find the silver crystal." Mamoru said.
"Wow." Minako said. "I didn't start remembering until I became Sailor Venus. Sometimes they came as dreams and other times they seemed to come out of nowhere." She said. "I haven't remembered anything in a while though." She added.
"How come the other's don't remember?" Usagi asked.
"I have no idea." Minako admitted. "I asked Artemis the same thing and he said he didn't know." She added with a shake of her head. She had been wondering that more and more lately, but at the same time she was glad if only for Usagi's sake considering how they had treated her.
"So how did you two find out about each other? I mean as Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Kamen?" She asked.
"I gave Sailor Moon something a while ago and when I was visiting Usagi when she was sick I saw her with it. I knew she wouldn't have given it away so I knew that she had to be Sailor Moon. Before that I had also put together the fact that Usagi was having trouble with her friends at the same time Sailor Moon was having trouble with the Sailor Senshi." Mamoru answered.
"After that he left a letter for me explaining that he had learned that I had quit and gave me encouragement that made me feel so much better." Usagi continued where he stopped, but left out details. She didn't need to know more than that.
Ah, so that was the letter Luna reported about. Minako thought as she listened.
"Why didn't you come before? Why now?" Usagi asked curiously.
"I didn't come before because Artemis and I decided that I should wait until the other senshi were found, and that would give each of you the chance to gain experience like I had. We also decided I wouldn't come sooner because of my memories. We wanted you to find out that you were the princess on your own, and we thought that I might do or say something that would clue you in and you might not believe it." Minako explained.
"I came now because of the situation with you and Rei." She said and watched as Mamoru stiffened at Rei's name. "You not wanting to be Sailor Moon anymore and Rei's behavior toward you." She added.
"I knew all of this could get the enemies attention, not to mention because I knew you were our Princess I knew that something had to be done with Rei. Even if you weren't our Princess something would still need to be done about her. The Sailor Senshi cannot function properly with her behaving the way she is."
Usagi put a hand on Mamoru's leg hoping to calm him down from his anger over the mention of Rei.
"What can be done about her? Luna and the others haven't been able to get through to her." She said as she gently rubbed Mamoru's leg.
"I can get through to her as far as Senshi business goes." Minako stated confidently. "She just needs to be reminded that she is not simply a pretty girl in a sailor suit with special powers. She is a soldier in service to the Moon and her behavior will not be tolerated." She said firmly, a hardness in her tone.
"Why you? Why is it that you are trying to set things right, and know how to deal with her?" Mamoru asked curiously, having noticed the tone in her voice.
"In the past I was the leader of the Senshi since Usagi was the Princess only then and we were her protection." Minako answered.
"Oh. Well you can go ahead and be leader again especially since you have more experience from this life and your memories." Usagi said.
"You are leader now." Minako said as she shook her head. "You are our princess and because you're a senshi now we answer to you."
"But I'm not a senshi anymore." Usagi pointed out.
"Okay." Minako accepted with a sigh. "I'll only keep the position until you're ready to take your place among the Senshi again."
Usagi nodded but didn't say anything.
"As for outside of Senshi business I'm not too sure. I am new here and not her friend." Minako said with a sigh. "And she's bound to get worse when she finds out about the two of you, if she hasn't already." She added.
"She confronted me on Wednesday and asked me if I had feelings for Usagi. We didn't want the other girls and particularly her to know, so I only told her that if I did discover feelings for Usagi then I would do something about it." Mamoru said, quickly understanding that she knew he and Usagi were in a relationship.
"That was probably enough to make her even more jealous." Usagi said and Minako nodded.
They thought about Rei for a few quiet moments and then Minako asked Usagi why she didn't want to be Sailor Moon anymore. What her major concerns were.
Usagi instantly listed off her major concerns. Her lack of fighting skills, the fact that before she resigned her powers had seemed to diminish with each new senshi, and Rei's attitude and behavior toward her.
"I'm going to work on Rei, so leave that issue to me." Minako began. "As for the problem with your powers, that's definitely strange. You might need your silver crystal to stabilize your power. I'll ask Artemis about it." She said.
"That still leaves my bad fighting skills." Usagi stated.
Mamoru covered Usagi's hand with his and thought about that as he had before. He knew she needed to feel confident in herself and what she did.
"What about training?" He said quietly. "You need training in combat so you'll feel secure in your ability to protect yourself and others as a senshi is supposed to."
"Okay I'll do that." Usagi agreed since she thought it was a good idea. "It will have to wait until I'm passed the weakness of my illness." She added.
"I think that's a good idea as well, but I'm worried we won't have time. Not with the Negaverse looking for the silver crystal." Minako said.
"We'll have to find a way because Usagi won't go out there as Sailor Moon if she doesn't feel secure." Mamoru stated and Usagi nodded her agreement. She had told him enough times for him to speak on it with authority.
"Then we'll find a way." Minako agreed, understanding how important it was for Usagi. "Are you going to tell Luna and the other senshi that you're the Princess?" She asked Usagi.
"No." Usagi said instantly. "I don't want them to know about me or Mamoru. We don't need that kind of attention. It would only alert the Negaverse if they began to act differently." She said.
"I'm also concerned about how they would treat me. They apologized but what if they changed their minds with that discovery and started to judge me again? They did it once, so what's stopping them from doing it again?" She pointed out reasonably.
"I just…I really don't trust them, especially Rei, and I don't want to be forced into their company or them into mine." She admitted with a frown. "I've been spending my lunch hours with Ami and Makoto at school to try and ease back into a friendship, but I'm still not comfortable around them. And I still haven't decided if I want to end my friendship with Rei, but I am leaning toward ending it." She explained. Not even what she remembered of Rei from the past was enough to offset how she had treated her.
Minako nodded understandingly. "I'll help you keep your secret and protect you at the same time." She said.
"What do you mean?" Mamoru asked.
"Because we looked very similar in the past I was the Princess' decoy when it was necessary. That hasn't changed in the present." Minako explained. "With your permission I'll pose as the Moon Princess and reveal myself to the other senshi and keep up the act until you're ready to be revealed. That would keep both the Negaverse and the Senshi's attention on me." She said to Usagi.
Mamoru nodded thoughtfully at her words. "That would give you time to train and hopefully find your crystal." He told Usagi.
"Okay." Usagi said as she nodded. "Go for it." She told Minako.
"Alright. I'll do it at the next fight." Minako said. "I'll go now and leave you two to your privacy. I need to update Artemis and figure out what I'm going to say to the Senshi." She said after a few silent moments.
Minako asked for both of their phone numbers so she could contact them when she had information for them. She informed them that she knew that at least recently they had been hanging out at the arcade together and could talk to them there, but she didn't want to interrupt that time between them and it wasn't the right place to speak about such things anyway.
Mamoru and Usagi agreed and thanked Minako for her consideration as they wrote down their phone numbers. Once she had stored their numbers away they saw her to the door and said their goodbyes. When she was gone they returned to the couch and discussed how the meeting and conversation with Minako went.
"That went well. I thought she was nice and honest." Usagi said and Mamoru nodded.
"I liked that she very willingly told us information." He stated. "I like that she was serious about her duties as a senshi, but still easy going at the same time. From what you've told me the others aren't like that." He said. "I also like that she's willing to help you instead of complaining about what you can't do."
"Me too." Usagi agreed. "The girls tried to do some training with me but it was never for very long, and they were too concerned about their own progress to focus solely on me."
"Well things will be different this time. Minako seems very serious in wanting to help you, and you know I'm determined to do all I can." Mamoru said confidently.
"I do know." Usagi said with a happy smile.
Mamoru returned her smile and couldn't help thinking how beautiful she was and how much he loved her. Perhaps it is time I tell her. He considered as he remembered the jewelry he had hidden away.
"I'll be right back. I have something I want to give you." He said before he got up and disappeared into his room. When he came back he was carrying a small black bag.
He took out one box and handed it to her, and watched as she opened it to reveal a golden rose linked bracelet. He noted with delight that her reaction was nearly the same as it had been in the past.
Mamoru took the bracelet from the box and secured it around her wrist then handed her the remaining box.
Usagi gently opened it and couldn't stop her tears from falling at the sight of the locket necklace. It was identical to the one he had given her before, and she couldn't help caressing its shiny surface.
"I decided I would give them to you when I was ready to tell you just how strongly I feel for you." He said quietly as he watched her open the locket and read the inscription.
"I love you." He said simply yet strongly and watched as Usagi looked up at him in surprise with a slightly fearful look in her eyes. "It's not because I remember that you're Serenity." He reassured her.
"I've known that I love you since I found out you were Sailor Moon. The fact that I now remember you as Serenity only makes that love stronger." He said as he gently secured the necklace on her.
"I love you too." Usagi said softly. "I didn't say anything before because I thought it was too soon for me to feel this way."
"It was the same with me, and I also didn't want to scare you away by saying it so soon." He admitted and she nodded understandingly.
"So how did you get the jewelry?" She asked as she touched the locket.
"I had decided to have them made since I couldn't stop thinking about them, but when I went to the store I learned that I already had and that they were ready." He revealed, that fact still surprising him. "I must have done it before I knew I was Tuxedo Kamen when I had those blackouts."
"That's amazing." Usagi said, realizing that a part of him had known he was Endymion before his mind did for him to remember those jewelry pieces.
After talking a little more Mamoru decided to take Usagi home since it would be getting dark soon, and as much as he wanted to keep her with him he doubted her parents would approve of her staying the night.
Usagi agreed to that assessment so they put the jewelry boxes back in the bag and collected her bouquet of roses before heading down to Mamoru's car and to her house.
Minako's POV
As Minako left Mamoru's apartment she considered all that she had learned during the meeting. Usagi remembered she was the Moon Princess and she didn't want the other senshi to know. She didn't trust them and was uncomfortable with how they would react. That wasn't surprising considering how Luna and the girls had behaved toward her.
Moving along from there she learned that her theory had been proven correct. Not only was Chiba Mamoru Tuxedo Kamen, but he was also the Earth Prince, and he remembered!
The couple had apparently been dreaming about each other and there was apparently a strong connection between them, which didn't surprise Minako, to the point where Mamoru dreamed of Princess Serenity asking him to find her silver crystal. That had explained why he as Tuxedo Kamen had been collecting the rainbow crystals. He had been aware that they could help him find the silver crystal somehow.
Minako frowned as she remembered the detail about Usagi having been ill. She wondered about that since she herself hadn't been sick since before she became Sailor Venus. She had begun to think the Sailor Senshi couldn't get sick.
She needed to speak to Artemis about that development because with their changing DNA she seriously suspected that they couldn't get sick, and with the discovery of Usagi being ill she was worried. Especially with the lingering weakness.
I should have asked Usagi about that detail. She thought with a slight frown. How long had she been sick? How long had she been feeling weakness? She wondered, hoping that it wasn't anything to worry about.
They hadn't gone into detail about Usagi's issues with the Senshi, but Minako decided that they could talk about that and her concerns about being a senshi another time. They could do it when they got to know each other better most likely during training. That way she could understand better and help Usagi get her confidence back as much as she could, and with Mamoru helping she was sure they would be able to get it done.
They just needed to find a way to get her training done quickly, not to mention a place for them to train without being seen.
Maybe Artemis will have some suggestions. She considered as she walked down the sidewalk.
30 minutes later...
When Minako got home she and Artemis settled in her room and she explained what happened at the meeting; that the address had been Mamoru's apartment and he had been there through the entire meeting. She informed him of everything she learned and what would be happening now with Usagi.
Artemis was happy that Usagi remembered that she was the Moon Princess and even happier that Mamoru remembered that he was the Earth Prince, because he would be even more diligent with his safety and be there for Usagi. He was concerned about the fact that she didn't trust her Senshi, but he knew that it was not unexpected considering their behavior.
"I think it's a good idea that you're going to help Usagi train, especially since it would help her confidence and get her back to being a senshi." Artemis said as he slowly flicked his tail. "I also approve of the plan to pose as the Princess. Not only will it keep the attention of the Negaverse and the Senshi away from her, it might also help you deal with Rei. She might talk to you more openly and tell you things she wouldn't tell the other senshi." He explained and watched his charge nod thoughtfully.
Minako hadn't thought about that and thought it was a good idea. She might even use her posing as the Princess to deal with Rei in terms of her behavior and attitude as a sailor senshi.
"Do you have any ideas on how we can train Usagi quickly and a place where we can do it?" She asked Artemis.
"Unfortunately no, but I'll think about it." He answered.
"I'll do the same and hope something comes to me." Minako said with a sigh. "Well, do you know any reasons why Usagi's power would lessen over time?" She asked.
"The only thing I can think of without more information is that she needs her silver crystal. I would need to speak to her myself to be sure." He answered.
From there the two discussed Usagi's lingering weakness from being sick and if the Senshi could even get sick. Artemis informed her that the Sailor Senshi could not get sick as far as he remembered so Usagi's sickness was very worrying. They continued talking about Usagi's illness and how she had looked and seemed when Minako talked to her as well as speculating on why she had gotten sick.
The Next Day...
Sunday: Day Fourteen
Minako was lounging around early Sunday afternoon in her room when the computer alerted to a youma attack. She checked the location and told Artemis she'd let him know how it went since she'd be revealing herself as the Moon Princess.
She left the house, running toward the location, and the first chance she got she transformed. She adjusted her transformation as only she could in preparation for what was to come, a red mask covering her eyes and a golden crescent moon on her forehead in place of a tiara. When she arrived she saw that the Senshi were once again having a difficult time, although she couldn't blame them too much considering how fast the youma was moving. It only made her think that they needed to train harder. She wondered if she was the only one that had trained intensely to deal with the youma and others from the Negaverse.
Sailor Venus quietly attacked when the youma was in the air, mid pounce toward Sailor Mercury, knocking it off course and onto its side. As she walked, moving closer to the fight, she watched as Sailor Jupiter immediately attacked the youma and Sailor Mars quickly followed up. She paused in her movements and added her own attack to the mix and the youma crumbled to dust.
She stood there and watched the Senshi to see what they would do. They moved together, wearily eyeing her, and she listened as they made sure each of them was okay then Sailor Mercury focused on her and gasped.
"She's Sailor V." Sailor Mercury said and the other girls looked closer at her and realized Mercury was right.
"Why is she here now?" She heard Sailor Jupiter say.
"Why is her sailor suit different?" She heard Sailor Mars ask with a frown, and she understood since her uniform did look different then it did in all the pictures of her.
She then watched as Luna came sprinting toward them and stopped near the other senshi and stared at her.
"That crescent moon..." Luna breathed in awe.
I can use this. Sailor Venus thought as she smiled at Luna before reaching up to her red mask.
"I don't usually take my mask off in front of people," Sailor Venus said as she did just that. "but Luna seems to have figured me out."
"What?" She heard Sailor Mars ask in confusion as she looked from her to Luna.
"She's the Moon Princess!" Sailor Mercury said after seeing the crescent moon and having heard the awe in Luna's voice.
"No way!" Sailor Jupiter said in surprise as her eyes widened.
"I may be Sailor V but I'm also Princess Serenity of the Moon Kingdom and Silver Millennium." She announced softly.
Girl's POV
Friday Night
"Another fake senshi do you think?" Sailor Mars asked wearily as she joined the others.
"I don't think so." Sailor Mercury said as she remembered the crescent moon on the senshi's forehead. "We'll have a meeting about it tomorrow. For now let's get Jupiter home." She added tiredly.
Sailor Mercury and Mars helped Jupiter up and got her between them before they began the slow journey to her home.
Saturday Afternoon
The next day Luna and the girls gathered at Makoto's apartment to discuss the last fight and the arrival of yet another senshi. They described the fight to Luna, including what they had seen of the fake Sailor Moon, and the timely arrival of the new senshi. They described the new senshi's attack, what she wore, and the fact that she had a crescent moon on her forehead.
"What do you think Luna? Do you think she's a real senshi?" Ami asked as she looked at the feline.
"I believe the new senshi is real because she used a powered attack." Luna stated. "The fake senshi has yet to do so, and we know she's a part of the Negaverse anyway." She explained.
"Does the crescent moon mean she might be the Moon Princess or related to her?" Rei asked.
"It is possible." Luna said thoughtfully.
"Could the crescent moon be a sign to let us know that she's the new Sailor Moon?" Rei asked, wanting to know if that was possible since it would prove that she was right about the senshi being replaceable.
Makoto rolled her eyes at that and wondered if the only thing to stop Rei from thinking that they could be replaced was if Usagi came back and transformed in front of her.
Or if we find the Moon Princess and she herself tells Rei that we can't be replaced. In fact, I'm starting to wonder if the Princess is the only one who can deal with Rei at this point. She thought with a sigh.
Makoto supposed it would depend on the girl's personality. She hoped the Princess wasn't a push over or Rei might just get worse.
"For the last time Rei, there are no replacements for the Senshi." Ami said tiredly. "Why is it so hard for you to believe? Do you think I'm lying to you just to try and keep Usagi around?" She asked.
"I don't think you're lying. I just don't believe it because there's no proof. I don't feel or look any different than I did before I became a senshi." Rei explained.
"Just because you don't feel or look any different doesn't mean you aren't different." Ami countered. "We all heal faster. Look at Makoto's leg. It's already nearly done healing, and should be finished by tomorrow." She pointed out as a fresh example. "We can run faster and jump higher and from greater heights than any normal person could without hurting ourselves, and I don't know about either of you but I haven't been even slightly sick since I became a senshi."
"Now that you mention it I haven't been sick either." Makoto said thoughtfully.
"I haven't been sick either," Rei admitted. "but I still want stronger proof that our DNA has changed."
Luna sighed and decided to change the subject.
"Keep a look out for this new senshi, and speak to her if it is at all possible. She could be the Moon Princess and if not she could be our key to finding her." She told them seriously.
The Next Day...
Sunday Afternoon
Ami went to Makoto's apartment to check on her. As she was examining her leg to make sure it was completely healed they talked about who the new senshi might be.
They thought it was likely she was a senshi like them with a possible connection to the Princess, and considered what the Negaverse would make of her when they found out about her if they hadn't already. They also wondered if she would show up at the next fight, and if she would stick around to talk to them.
Ami's Mercury computer sounded off, interrupting their speculations to alert of a youma attack. She informed Makoto and gave her the location, and Makoto contacted Rei and told her the location. Rei replied that she and Luna were on their way.
Once Makoto ended the connection on her communicator she and Ami left the apartment building quickly and began to head toward the location at a run. They came upon an abandoned building and headed around back to make sure their transformations weren't witnessed.
"Jupiter Power Makeup!" Makoto shouted as she held up her transformation pen.
"Mercury Power Makeup!" Ami shouted with her transformation pen in the air.
Streams of electricity and water flowed out of each transformation pen and swirled around their bodies, surrounding them in their element and bathing the area in green and blue light. When the lights and elements cleared Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Mercury stood and looked at each other before continuing toward the attack location.
When the two senshi arrived they saw the fake Sailor Moon fighting the youma, and appeared to be having a hard time of it. The youma looked to be a male with the body of a lion and a face similar to a human. It had human ears with a set of animal ears behind them. Blue eyes, reddish orange fur with thin black stripes making him look similar to a tiger. Even at the distance they were at they could tell it had three rows of sharp pointy teeth in each jaw.
Sailor Jupiter contacted Sailor Mars through her communicator to tell her their exact location as she and Sailor Mercury watched the youma literally run rings around the fake senshi.
"Why would they go through the effort of fighting one of their own and lose at that?" Jupiter wondered quietly.
"Probably to make it look more realistic to us. If we thought she was a real senshi then the act would more than likely make us rush to her aid." Mercury explained quietly. "Even though we know she's a part of the Negaverse we did nearly exactly that at the last fight and the fake didn't do anything. In fact, she disappeared when we got involved. Who knows what her motive is." She added.
They watched the fake senshi throw her boomerang at the youma who quickly dodged it. As she caught her weapon Sailor Mars arrived with Luna and asked what had happened so far as she watched the fight.
Sailor Mercury and Sailor Jupiter explained what little they had seen, and the three of them decided to join in the fight and see what happened from there. Luna said she would hide in a safe location and observe the fight and keep an eye out for the new senshi.
Once Luna was safely clear Mercury launched a fog that worked well despite the bright day, and they all moved forward, cautiously spreading out.
Mercury activated her visor and immediately saw that neither the youma nor the fake senshi had moved from their spots. Suddenly her visor began alerting her to an incoming attack and zeroed in on the tip of the youma's tail, magnifying it slightly for her visual analysis. She watched as energy blasts began to fire in random directions from its tail.
"Incoming! Look out!" She called out before running for cover.
Mars, Jupiter, and the fake Sailor Moon dove for cover as soon as Mercury's words registered. Mars barely made it to her cover in time, and covered her head as she curled in a ball to protect herself from the raining and flying debris of the blast that hit near her.
Jupiter made it to cover in time and listened anxiously to the many blasts and hoped she wouldn't hear any screams. Mercury cautiously peeked out just in time to see a blast hit close to the fake senshi, blasting her off her feet and into a wall.
By the time the blasts ended Mercury's fog was gone and the area was visible again. A loud enraged roar echoed throughout the area, alerting them to the emotional state the youma was in. Jupiter grimaced at the clear sign of the youma's anger and decided it was time to stop hiding. She cautiously looked out and when she saw the youma's back turned toward her she prepared to attack.
"Supreme Thunder!" She called and watched as bolts of electricity raced at the youma.
The youma moved out of the way just in time but was hit by a fireball from Mars which singed its fur, enraging it even more. It roared again but this time was different. The sound was like a trumpet, getting louder and louder until they were forced to cover their ears, the sound extremely painful to them.
Mercury covered the area in fog again, barely able to concentrate over the sound enough to do that as she saw Jupiter rush at the youma. The sound cut off abruptly and she saw through her visor that Jupiter had tackled the youma, but it was now chasing her, following the sounds she made through the fog.
"The youma is chasing Jupiter." Mercury said after she made her way over to Mars. "I'll clear my fog so you can distract it." She added and watched Mars nod and prepare to attack as she cleared the fog.
"Fire Soul!" Mars shouted, launching her attack as soon as she spotted the youma.
The fireball was enough to distract the youma and allow Jupiter the time to reach them. She launched another fireball to keep it away from them as Jupiter regained her breath. Jupiter then added her own lightning attack, but the tiger looking youma kept dodging their attacks.
The youma roared and the Senshi automatically covered their ears, which appeared to be what the youma wanted. It distracted them and they were surprised when its teeth came shooting at them like thrown daggers. They quickly scattered to escape the sharp projectile teeth.
Mercury tumbled into a roll and came to a stop in a crouch only to find the youma running at her. It leapt just as she stood up to run, but was suddenly blasted off course by an orange-golden beam of light. Jupiter and Mars quickly took the opportunity to attack, and the orange-golden light attack joined theirs, destroying the youma in the combined attacks.
Sailor Mercury sighed and looked around. The fake senshi was gone. The last she saw the female had been unconscious against a wall. She obviously took the time to make an exit during the fight when they were all distracted.
As Sailor Mars and Sailor Jupiter reached her she noticed that they were looking in one direction, and she internally berated herself for forgetting about the one who had launched the attack that saved her. She looked at the senshi and recognized her from the last fight, but now that she was seeing her up close she recognized her beyond that.
"She's Sailor V." Mercury said with a gasp, and Jupiter and Mars looked closer and realized she was right.
"Why is she here now?" Jupiter wondered as she crossed her arms against her chest.
"Why is her sailor suit different?" Mars asked with a frown as she pushed some of her hair behind her ear.
It was then that Luna came out of her hiding place and ran toward them, eager to speak to this new senshi since she appeared to be sticking around. She saw as she neared that the senshi looked just as the girls described her, but when she saw the crescent moon something in her went still.
"That crescent moon..." She breathed in awe as she stopped near the girls and stared at the orange clad senshi.
They all watched as the orange senshi pulled off her red mask revealing kind blue eyes.
"I don't usually take my mask off in front of people, but Luna seems to have figured me out." She said in a soft gentle voice.
"What?" Mars asked, confused as she looked from Luna to Sailor V. What exactly did that mean? Was one of their theories right?
"She's the Moon Princess!" Mercury answered, having heard the awe in Luna's voice and seeing the crescent moon up close.
"No way!" Jupiter exclaimed in surprise as she dropped her arms, her eyes widening as she looked to the orange senshi.
"I may be Sailor V but I'm also Princess Serenity of the Moon Kingdom and Silver Millennium." She announced softly.
"I'm glad you found us and that you are safe your highness." Luna said sincerely.
"Thank you Luna." Sailor V replied gratefully. "Sailor Mercury. It's nice to meet you." She said as she stepped forward and held out her hand.
"It's a pleasure your highness." Sailor Mercury replied as she grasped the princess' hand and shook it.
"Sailor Jupiter." She said with a smile.
"Nice to finally meet you." Sailor Jupiter said as they shook hands.
"Sailor Mars." She said as she turned to face the one that had been causing so many problems.
"Your highness." Sailor Mars said simply as she shook the princess' hand.
"I'm glad we're finally together." Sailor V said as she looked to all of them.
"Princess, we've been searching for you, but I never would have guessed that you were Sailor V. You had to have known about us since you were already a senshi before us. Why didn't you come sooner?" Sailor Mercury asked with a slight frown.
"Ah, the questions begin." She said as she looked at Mercury. "Is there some place we can all speak privately?" She asked, knowing it would be a long conversation.
Mars offered up her home and they headed there quickly, taking a little time to de-transform on the way. When they arrived at the temple they all settled in Rei's room and Minako noticed the curious looks coming her way, so she decided to start things off by properly introducing herself.
"I'm Aino Minako, and I'm a normal girl just like all of you." Minako said.
"Kino Makoto here." Makoto said casually.
"I'm Mizuno Ami." Ami said quietly.
"I'm Hino Rei." Rei said confidently.
With the introductions out of the way Minako began to answer Ami's previous question. She explained how, like they had with Luna, she met her guardian, Artemis, back in England and he informed her of her identity. From there together they fought against the youma that were appearing in London where she lived. When the attacks stopped they did some research and realized that the enemy was focusing there in Tokyo.
She explained that she and Artemis were going to try and go there, but then they began hearing about Sailor Moon. Artemis had told her about the Guardian Senshi, so they decided to let the Senshi handle things in Tokyo to gain fighting experience and knowledge on the enemy.
In the meantime Minako trained so she would be at her best when she finally joined them. She most likely wouldn't be there with them yet, but according to the news she had been hearing things were getting intense. She thought they could use all the help they could get.
"It was during the fights I was involved in that I began to remember my identity as Princess Serenity. It was nice to have proof beyond Artemis' word." She finished with a sigh.
"What about the silver crystal your highness?" Makoto asked, wondering if the princess already had it.
"Please, just call me Minako. And I have yet to locate the silver crystal, but I know that the Negaverse has yet to as well. That is something good at least." She answered truthfully.
From there the group of girls began to exchange information about the Negaverse. Luna, Ami, Makoto, and Rei explained about the dark generals they had faced, the youma that seemed to gather energy from humans, and the Negaverse' search for the rainbow crystals which they assumed like them the enemy would use to find the silver crystal.
Minako told them what she had remembered of the enemy in the past since she knew that it was the same one. She explained that it was a dark evil entity that was manipulating everyone in the Negaverse, including the one who was the leader. The leader was aware of the entity and willingly answered to it.
"Its power source is human energy, which is why it targets humanity. It wants to take over the Earth just like it did in the past, just like with other planets, and like it tried to do to the Moon. It wants power and that is one of the main reasons it's after the silver crystal." She explained. "The evil entity is the reason the Moon Kingdom fell and we can't let it happen again." She added passionately.
"Do you remember seeing the entity?" Rei asked.
"Yes I do." Minako answered. "It's a massive thing, blacker than the night sky with an ominous sound." She described and they all tried to imagine the being.
"I hope you all remember your past life." Minako said quietly. She truly did want them to remember but she hoped it wouldn't happen until Usagi was ready to reveal herself. She hoped it would at least be in time to deal with their enemy.
"Where is Artemis?" Luna asked. He obviously remembered their Princess and most likely their past, and she was very interested in talking to him.
"He's at home. If he had known that this meeting was going to happen he would have come with me to the fight." Minako answered and then decided that since Luna had asked about an absent person she would as well. She hoped to get some answers to help her fix the team.
"I know about Tuxedo Kamen" She began, not elaborating on what exactly she knew. "and I saw the obviously fake Sailor Moon on the news the other day, but I would like to know where the real Sailor Moon is and why she isn't here with us?" She asked.
There was an uncomfortable silence, and as Minako waited for an answer she took in their expressions. Ami and Makoto looked sad and frustrated, Luna looked sad and nearly defeated, and Rei looked uneasy, frustrated, and a bit angry.
"She quit." Luna finally said in a sad tone, and explained the circumstances as she knew it and what had been done to try and get her back.
Minako listened calmly, comparing this version with what Luna had reported before. It matched with the previous reports, which she was happy about. There were no signs of lying, although Luna was keeping out her personal opinions. She would have to speak to her alone or have Artemis do it.
"It was really a good thing that she quit." Rei spoke up, trying to justify it. "Her fighting skills were bad and her behavior was worse. She would have only endangered your life if she was still a senshi. Not to mention she had been too friendly with Tuxedo Kamen who we think might be another enemy because he's also collecting the rainbow crystals."
Minako listened quietly and understood that if Usagi became a better fighter and acted more serious around the team that Rei would no longer have an argument, but that still left her behavior outside the team.
"The fact that my Guardian Senshi are not complete means that I'm already in danger." Minako stated with a frown.
"Well, we can replace her." Rei said.
"The Guardian Senshi cannot be replaced." Minako countered firmly and quickly. "We are born senshi and we will die senshi just as we did in the past." She explained, knowing that they didn't remember that the Princess hadn't been a senshi in the past.
"It sounds as if Usagi simply needs training, but as long as she does her job it doesn't matter how she behaves." She stated. "As for Tuxedo Kamen, I don't remember him from the past but then I don't remember everything yet, and that also doesn't mean he is an enemy. He's collecting the rainbow crystals, so what? Did anyone ever stop and ask him why?" She asked with a frown.
"Unlike those from the Negaverse I've never heard of him trying to kill any of you or hinder your efforts in any way." She finished.
"That's true. He's never tried to harm any of the girls. In fact, he's been saving Usagi since her first fight, and he's always helped them when they needed it. He's never tried to stop the girls from gaining a rainbow crystal or tried to take the one we had had." Luna said.
"He could have thought of you all as an enemy for collecting the rainbow crystals, but it sounds like he didn't." Minako said. "You shouldn't think of him as any enemy or a potential one. You should just see him as an unknown because he could be someone important and we all, him included, just don't remember."
"That's another reason I hope you remember your past. It could definitely help in situations like this." She said. "Usagi might have sensed something about him that you couldn't, and that could be a reason why she had never seen him as an enemy." She added as she looked at each of them.
Minako decided after a few moments to end the conversation there since the tone had clearly left the impression that the Guardian Senshi needed to be a complete team, and that Usagi needed to be brought back. It also set them to thinking that Tuxedo Kamen could be more important than they realize.
From there she lightened the conversation saying that she wanted to get to know them all better. She wanted to know what school they went to, what they liked to do for fun, what their favorite food was, and how they became senshi.
She went first stating cheerfully that she went to Shiba Koen Junior High School, that she was pretty athletic and liked to play volleyball, she loved pop culture and wanted to be an idol, and she auditioned in singing, dancing, and acting whenever she could.
"Artemis found me when I was 13 and awakened me to who I truly was." She said before going on to describe how she thought him and his whole explanation was a dream since she woke up in bed the next morning and he was nowhere in sight.
Minako then explained how she had a crush on a guy but he turned out to be an enemy, and it was lucky that Artemis had been there when she was talking to him or she would have been a goner. That was when he gave her her transformation pen and she was able to defeat the guy.
From there each girl took her turn, going in order from when they were awakened going from Ami to Rei and ending with Makoto. When the brunette finished her tale they all decided to meet up the next day after school at the arcade they liked to hang out at, and spend some time together and continue to get to know each other. Once that was decided they all split up and went home, Minako to speak to Artemis and Ami and Makoto to get some rest.
Minako's POV
When Minako arrived home she went straight to her room and flopped down on her bed just missing Artemis who looked up at her entrance.
"How did it go?" Artemis asked as he flicked his tail lazily.
"It went well." Minako answered. "They had problems with the youma again, but they were able to defeat it when I stepped in and helped." She explained. "Besides that they now believe I'm the Princess. There didn't seem to be any doubts, especially with Luna's instant reaction. After that was established we went to Rei's temple so we could talk in private, and we introduced ourselves properly before getting to the serious matter."
"We spoke about why I hadn't come sooner and they accepted my explanation of letting them handle things here to gain experience and knowledge about the enemy, and that I had been training until it was time for me to come here." She continued.
"They brought up the silver crystal and I let them know that I didn't have it but that the Negaverse didn't either. After that we talked about the enemy and exchanged information, and I made sure that they knew about the evil entity behind the actions of the Negaverse." She concluded and watched Artemis nod his understanding.
"Once things were calm from the conversation Luna asked about you, and I took the opportunity to ask where Sailor Moon was." Minako stated.
"How did they react?" Artemis asked, not surprised that his counterpart wanted to know about him, and listened as she explained their silence and facial expressions before Luna explained why Usagi wasn't there and the details surrounding her absence. He listened as she explained how she noticed that Luna hadn't withheld anything except her personal opinions, and that she decided that she needed to speak to her alone.
"That's a good idea. I'll do the same the first chance I get." He said with a slight frown.
"Once Luna finished Rei tried to say it was a good thing that Usagi quit. She said that her fighting skills were bad, her behavior was bad, and she was too friendly with Tuxedo Kamen. She stated clearly that she thought Usagi would only endanger me, the Princess, if she was still a senshi." Minako said as she shifted her position.
"What did you say to that?" Artemis asked curiously.
"I told her that since the Guardian Senshi weren't complete I was already in danger. She tried to say that Usagi could be replaced, but I told her that the Senshi couldn't be replaced. That we were born as senshi and we would die as senshi." She explained.
"From there I told them that just because Tuxedo Kamen was collecting the rainbow crystals that didn't mean he was their enemy, and that unlike our real enemy he had never tried to kill them or hinder their efforts." She stated. "I then pointed out that he could have thought of them as an enemy for collecting the crystals but he obviously hadn't, and I told them that they should see him as an unknown because he could be someone important and they just didn't remember yet."
"That was smart. It might get them thinking about the possibility of him being more than just Tuxedo Kamen." Artemis said with a nod.
"That's what I hope for." Minako said. "After that I told them that Sailor Moon might have sensed something about Tuxedo Kamen that they couldn't and that was a reason why she didn't have a problem with him."
"That should set the stage for a connection being between Usagi and Mamoru should they choose to reveal it." Artemis said and Minako nodded.
"I also told them that I hoped they remembered their past. Although, I also hope it isn't until after Usagi is ready to take her place, but hopefully in time to help them understand what's going on." She added.
"After that I lightened up our conversation by trying to get to know them better by asking what school they went to, what they liked to do for fun, how they became a senshi. Things like that. It was definitely helpful in making everyone comfortable with each other." She explained. "When we finished talking we all agreed to meet at the arcade after school tomorrow, so you should come and meet everyone. You might have a chance to speak to Luna privately."
"I'll go to school with you and hang around until you get out so we can go together." Artemis said and watched Minako nod.
"Okay. Well now I need to call Usagi and Mamoru and let them know what happened." She said before grabbing her phone and dialing Usagi's number. The line rang twice before a woman answered.
"Hello?" A woman, who must have been Usagi's mother, answered.
"Hi. Can I speak to Usagi please?" Minako asked as her eyes wandered around her room.
"Who is speaking?" Mrs. Tsukino asked.
"Minako." She answered.
"Hold on please." Mrs. Tsukino said and within moments Usagi was on the phone.
"Minako?" Usagi's voice came through clearly.
"Yeah it's me." Minako answered. "I just got home from being with Luna and the girls for most of the day and I wanted to let you know what happened, but I wanted to get Mamoru on the line as well so he'll know."
"Okay." Usagi said quietly.
"Hold on." She said before she switched lines and dialed Mamoru's number before switching back. "You there Usagi?" She asked and once she received a positive answer they waited, listening to the ringing. Two more rings sounded before he picked up.
"Hello?" They heard him say.
"Hi Mamoru. It's Minako." She said cheerfully.
"Oh hi. This is a surprise." He said.
"Yeah. I've got Usagi on the line with me." She said.
"Really? Hello love." Mamoru said happily and Minako blushed at how intimate he sounded.
"Endymion." Usagi said softly and Minako could hear everything that one word conveyed. Hello. I love you.
"Ummm…" She began in order to get their attention. "Like I just told Usagi, I just got home from being with Luna and the Senshi and wanted to let you know what happened." She said as she relaxed against her pillows.
"Okay. We're listening." Mamoru said.
"I'll start from the beginning. Stop me if you have questions." She said.
"Okay." Usagi said quietly.
Minako started her tale with getting the youma alert and then going into what her transformation looked like so they would know what the Senshi saw. She described arriving to find the Senshi losing and how she intervened which saved Sailor Mercury in the process.
She continued on with how she made contact and they recognized her as Sailor V, then how Luna spotted the crescent moon and seemed to be in awe so she took her cue from that to present herself as the Moon Princess.
She explained that there were no bad reactions to meeting her, but that Mercury wondered why she hadn't shown up before. She hadn't wanted to talk out in the open so they went to Rei's home when she offered. Once there they properly introduced themselves then she answered Ami's question, which was that once she heard about Sailor Moon's presence she knew the others would follow and she wanted them to gain fighting experience and knowledge of the enemy.
The silver crystal was mentioned and Minako said she didn't have it, but commented that the enemy didn't either. From there she and the girls exchanged information about the enemy with her telling what she remembered from the past so they would know they were dealing with more than generals and youma's.
After that information exchange Luna asked about Artemis since he hadn't been there and she took the opportunity to ask about Sailor Moon. She let them know that she knew about Tuxedo Kamen, without elaborating, and the fake Sailor Moon, but wanted to know why the real Sailor Moon wasn't there.
"No one reacted at first but their expressions were telling." Minako stated.
"What did they look like?" Mamoru asked, cutting in before she could continue, his tone intense.
"Makoto and Ami looked sad and frustrated, Luna looked sad and somewhat defeated, and Rei looked uneasy, frustrated, and a little angry." She explained.
She continued on to say that Luna eventually answered telling her everything of what happened and only leaving out her personal opinions that she expressed when reporting to Central Control. She then explained how Rei spoke up saying that Usagi's fighting skills were bad, her behavior worse, and that she was too friendly with Tuxedo Kamen whom they thought might be another enemy because of his collecting the rainbow crystals.
"Do they all really believe he might be another enemy?" Usagi asked, cutting into the narration.
"I'm not sure about Ami and Makoto but Luna no longer thinks so from what she reported to Central Control." Minako answered.
She continued on saying Rei thought Usagi would only endanger the Princess by being a senshi, but she countered that not having the Sailor Senshi complete was endangering her. When Rei tried to say they could replace Usagi she informed them that there were no replacements. They were born senshi and would die senshi just as they had in the past. She said that Usagi only needed training and that her behavior didn't matter as long as she got the job done.
Minako then explained that she went on to say that just because Tuxedo Kamen was collecting the rainbow crystals it didn't mean he was an enemy. That they had probably never bothered to ask him why he collected the crystals, and that he had never tried to kill them or stop them unlike their real enemy.
He could have easily saw them as an enemy instead of helping them but he obviously hadn't, so they should just view him as an unknown because he could be someone important and they just couldn't remember. She added that Usagi might have sensed something about him which would explain why she had never seen him as an enemy.
She explained that from there she tried to lighten the conversation by getting to know each other better, and by the time she left they had agreed to meet at the arcade after school tomorrow.
"You two might want to avoid going there." She advised the couple.
"Thanks for the warning. I definitely have no desire to see Rei." Usagi said.
"Yes." Mamoru agreed. "And thank you for speaking up for me." He added.
"It was no problem. It would've been unnecessary if they had thought of it from different angles and used some common sense." Minako stated.
"Could you tell if Rei's issues with me stem from more than Senshi business?" Usagi asked.
"Yes." Minako answered. "Rei seemed too quick to complain and want to replace you instead of working through things. I'll see what else I can find out tomorrow." She explained.
"Good luck. I'm sure you're going to need it." Mamoru said.
"Thanks." She said and from there they talked of normal things, so she could get to know them and they her.
Mamoru's POV
Saturday Evening
Mamoru sat on his couch in the waning light of the day idly twirling a rose between his fingers and enjoying the fragrance as thoughts circled his mind. He had just got back home after taking Usagi home, something that had been very difficult to do. He wanted to keep her with him where she would be safe and free to be herself.
Thoughts of his generals, his friends, pushed to the front of his mind. He remembered them fondly and the times they had spent together. Jadeite, Nephrite, Zoisite, and Kunzite- whom he now remembered to be the white haired general his Usagi described- the leader of his Shitennou.
He was saddened by what happened to them in the past, and that it had happened again in the present just as Usagi had theorized just the other day. He would consider trying to save Zoisite and Kunzite, but he knew just like last time that they were lost to him.
Images of the King and Queen floated through his mind. His mother and father, his family, in candid moments. They looked just like him. Both were dark haired. He had his father's height and bearing and his mother's eyes and loving heart.
Thoughts of his parents shifted to memories of being a Prince and how that felt. In the past it was something he was born and raised to be, but he still recalled being grateful and pleased to have the position. Even with the times the duties and rules got in the way of what he wanted to do and what he wanted. Of course the one time his duties and the rules didn't matter was when he decided he wanted Serenity.
His Serenity, now his Usagi. It didn't matter what name he called her. She was still the same person, and she was still his. His feelings for her now were just as strong as they had been in the past even though they hadn't been dating long. He still counted the numerous times they teased and argued, as well as the times he saved and encouraged her as Sailor Moon.
She was still just as beautiful, bright, warm, and honest as she was in the past. Still smart and dedicated to doing what was right, and she still had her beautiful long hair that he loved so much. Thinking of his Usagi's hair reminded him of the changing color that could cause her problems if it was noticed, and his golden crystal and possibly using it to hide the change.
Mamoru closed his eyes and leaned his head back resting it on the back of the couch with a sigh. He knew where it was and he remembered how to use it, but he could not recall how to get it or access its power.
How on Earth was he going to find out?!
He sighed in frustration and put thoughts of his golden crystal away for the moment and considered the meeting with Minako. He certainly liked her better than the other girls and hoped that she and his Usagi would develop a strong friendship. Her personality was just what his Princess needed at the moment. He had no doubt that remembering her past had instilled some confidence in her, but that confidence did not extend to being a senshi.
Minako will be good for that. With her being a senshi longer and remembering some of her own past she was more settled, developed as a senshi, whereas the others are still too new to it and focused on the wrong things. He thought with a slight frown as he considered those girls and their behavior.
The Next Day…
Sunday Evening
Mamoru lay stretched out on his back on his bed wearing a pair of sweatpants, his eyes closed and his body relaxed. He was meditating using a method he had favored in his past life when he was doing private meditation. He hoped that by doing it and focusing on his golden crystal that some memory he had overlooked would come forward on how to get to it.
A little while later his phone began to ring and he frowned before opening his eyes and checking the time. He had only been at it for a little over twenty minutes. He considered not answering the phone but reminded himself that it could be his Princess, so he rushed out of his room and to the phone.
"Hello?" He answered only to hear a voice that was not his Princess.
"Hi Mamoru. It's Minako." He heard her say cheerfully.
"Oh hi. This is a surprise." He said and it truly was. He hadn't expected to hear from her for a while if at all. He had thought she would only contact Usagi despite getting his number as well.
"Yeah. I've got Usagi on the line with me." He heard her say and his eyes widened in delight. He hadn't heard her voice that day.
"Really? Hello love." He said happily, his voice deepening a bit.
"Endymion." He heard her say softly and he sighed in pleasure. Was it his imagination or was her voice becoming as musical as it was in the past?
"Ummm…like I just told Usagi, I just got home from being with Luna and the Senshi and wanted to let you know what happened." He heard Minako say and his ears perked as he sat up straight from where he had been lounging on his couch.
"Okay. We're listening." He replied, speaking for both Usagi and himself.
"I'll start from the beginning. Stop me if you have questions." She stated.
"Okay." Usagi answered quietly and he wondered what she was thinking. If she was worried about what she would hear.
Mamoru listened as Minako began her story with getting a youma alert and described what she looked like after she transformed.
The crescent moon will definitely grab everyone's attention and get them wondering if she's the Princess. He thought as he listened as she described helping the Senshi and how they recognized her as Sailor V before Luna recognized the significance of the crescent moon.
They accepted her as the Moon Princess for which he was grateful because their acceptance in itself was a protection to Usagi. They really wouldn't have to worry about any attention coming her way. He just hoped no one caught on before Usagi was ready.
He listened as she briefly described them introducing themselves once they reached the relative safety of Rei's home, and her telling how she had to tell them why she hadn't come sooner since she knew about the Senshi. She mentioned that they had asked about the silver crystal and her reply that she didn't have it.
That was something he had wondered about when she proposed the idea of posing as the Moon Princess. How would she explain the silver crystal? Would she claim to have it but not bring it out because she wanted to keep it safe, or that she hadn't located it yet? Now he knew it was the latter which meant they wouldn't expect to see it and see her use it.
She told them of how she and the girls exchanged information about the enemy with Minako telling what she remembered from the past. She skipped over the details since she didn't need to report them since both he and Usagi remembered who the enemy really was.
From there she went on to explain that since Luna had asked about Artemis, who wasn't there, she decided to do the same and ask about Sailor Moon. She had been silent as she waited for one of them to say something but until then she noticed their expressions.
"What did they look like?" Mamoru asked instantly, wanting to know how they reacted and knowing that Usagi needed to hear it as well.
"Makoto and Ami looked sad and frustrated, Luna looked sad and somewhat defeated, and Rei looked uneasy, frustrated, and a little angry." She answered.
She's right. Their expressions were telling and it's obvious that Rei is still the only one with a problem with Usagi. He thought with a frown. Although, he was glad that at least the others were still sorry for how they behaved.
Mamoru listened as Minako told them that Luna finally told her what happened leaving nothing out except her personal opinions, then continued on to describe Rei's justification for why she thought it was a good thing that Sailor Moon wasn't there anymore.
"Do they all really believe he might be another enemy?" He listened to Usagi ask as he scowled at Rei's reasons drifting through his mind.
"I'm not sure about Ami and Makoto but Luna no longer thinks so from what she reported to Central Control." Minako answered and continued on to describe how Rei thought Usagi would endanger the Princess, and her reply that she, the Princess, was already endangered because the Sailor Senshi were incomplete.
Mamoru shook his head as she said how Rei thought Usagi could be replaced. That fact still angered him though he knew she really couldn't be replaced. Something that was confirmed when Minako said that they were born senshi and died senshi.
Minako described how she told Luna and the girls that Usagi only needed training and that her behavior didn't matter as long as she did her job. She went on to say how collecting rainbow crystals didn't make him, Tuxedo Kamen, an enemy. That they had never bothered to ask him why he was collecting them.
That's true. I'm not sure I would have told them had they asked. I probably would have told Sailor Moon and left it to her to tell them or not. He thought idly. He was also fairly sure she wouldn't have said anything.
Mamoru listened as Minako described telling the girls that he hadn't tried to kill them or stop them like the real enemy, and that he could have easily seen them as an enemy instead of helping them, so they should just view him as an unknown because he might be someone important and none of them could remember.
I wonder if it will help the next time they see me as Tuxedo Kamen. He thought with a nod before listening as she described participating in light conversation to try and get to know each other better and lighten the heavy tense atmosphere, and that they all decided to meet after school the next day at the arcade.
"You two might want to avoid going there." He heard her advice.
"Thanks for the warning. I definitely have no desire to see Rei." He heard Usagi say.
"Yes, and thank you for speaking up for me." Mamoru said.
"It was no problem. It would've been unnecessary if they had thought of it from different angles and used some common sense." She stated.
"Could you tell if Rei's issues with me stem from more than Senshi business?" Usagi asked.
"Yes. Rei seemed too quick to complain and want to replace you instead of working through things. I'll see what else I can find out tomorrow." Minako answered.
"Good luck. I'm sure you're going to need it." He said as he shook his head. He doubted Rei would open up about her feelings against Usagi that easily, but then maybe under the persona of the Moon Princess Minako might have better luck.
"Thanks." He heard her say and listened as she suggested that they get to know each other better like she had done with the Senshi.
So they talked about normal things which was something he was pleased about. He hoped it was the start to a steady friendship between the two girls, and he admitted to himself that he could see himself being good friends with Minako as well.
Usagi's POV
Saturday Evening
Usagi sat out on her balcony wrapped in a blanket listening to her star locket as she gazed up at what she could see of the Moon between shifting clouds. She could hardly believe what had happened that day. She really was the Moon Princess. She was Princess Serenity of the Moon Kingdom and Silver Millennium, and now sole heir to the Imperial Silver Crystal.
She remembered how beautiful her old kingdom was, how beautiful the palace where she lived was. She remembered her bedroom with its light colors, how spacious it was and how large her bed had been. She remembered the balcony where she stood to gaze up at the Earth, and her fascination with it and its Prince.
She remembered her mother. A beautiful tall woman with her silver lavender hair up in the same style as hers. The royal hair style. She recalled as she remembered how kind and understanding she was.
Usagi remembered how she felt about being princess of the moon. She had loved it. It was something she had been born and raised to be, but it was never a burden or much of a hardship. She recalled the feeling of the royal gown she wore daily, and how it was her favorite of the versions of the gown she had worn growing up.
She had loved learning about new things, and anything that had to do with the Earth, and she never minded her duties or following the rules. At least until she began to become infatuated with Endymion. Then she had been breaking the rules sneaking down to the Earth to catch a glimpse of him, and then having a relationship with him. But she hadn't been able to help it, especially after getting to know him. He had just seemed so perfect for her.
This train of thought led into thoughts of Mamoru. Endymion. She no longer wanted to distinguish the two. He was the same person no matter what he was called. That was apparent the more she remembered.
As various images of Endymion crossed her mind she thought of how both were intelligent, both loved nature and roses specifically, both were beyond handsome, caring, kind, and loving. Both men were very protective of her and loved her. And she loved him. Her feelings for him were strong. She couldn't tell if they were stronger now than they were in the past but she guessed it didn't matter as long as the feelings were there.
Usagi closed her eyes and sighed as she allowed the melody of her star locket to wash over her as she idly remembered when she had given it to Endymion. Images of the bracelet and locket he had given her, both past and present, flashed across her mind and she automatically reached up to touch the locket gracing her neck.
It was a beautiful symbol of her Prince's love for her and she decided to always wear it. She liked that she could open it and see him looking back at her whenever she wanted. The bracelet was beautiful as well and she considered leaving it on as well but decided it would bring too much attention, so she would take it off before she went to bed.
She shifted slightly as a slight ache began to develop in her lower back, but thought nothing of it considering it typical from sitting on the cold floor.
Usagi's thoughts moved on to thinking about her silver crystal. She remembered what it looked like and her lessons on what it could do, especially if it should fall into the wrong hands.
She knew it would be able to hide her changing hair color and she thought it was very possible that it could stabilize her senshi powers like Minako had suggested. She also considered that it was possible that her powers could come from the crystal, and the fact that the rainbow crystals being removed from their carriers might be why her powers had been diminishing.
It might even be possible that my decreasing power could be a sign to find the silver crystal. She thought with a frown.
Either way she needed her crystal. She needed to have it with her. She didn't feel right without it. Even in the past she had a connection with it, although her mother was its keeper. She needed it to deal with her hair and she would most likely need it to train. After all, she couldn't go to Luna and ask for her senshi tools back, especially if they were going to be keeping her training and identity a secret.
Maybe the rainbow crystals can help me find it since they have some kind of connection to it. She considered before sighing and grimacing at a painful twinge in her back as she turned her thoughts to Minako.
She was nice and very upfront about sharing information and offering suggestions to my concerns. She's also protective of me, which is something I remember from Sailor Venus in the past. She thought as she pictured Minako.
It pleased her that Minako hadn't judged Mamoru or even tried to, and had no problems talking to him. She was making an effort to include him and respect his privacy, which was something she was happy about.
Now if only Minako could deal with Rei's attitude and issues before her training was finished then all would be, not good but at least better than it was.
A Day Later…
Monday: Day Fifteen
Usagi woke to her alarm going off and turned it off before stretching, grimacing at the aches she was feeling. She was surprised that there had been no memory dream but she supposed she shouldn't be now that she remembered who she was and who Mamoru was to her.
As she was getting out of bed she immediately found it difficult. She struggled for a few moments and when she finally tumbled out of her covers and onto the floor she realized it was because of her hair. It had grown much much longer.
As she tugged her hair from her covers she noticed with rising alarm that there was even more silver than there was the last time she looked. The gold was almost gone! She was afraid her family and classmates would notice instantly.
Usagi immediately went for her scissors and began to cut her hair. As she cut the ends of her hair she realized that it most likely had happened because she remembered her identity as the Moon Princess. Although, she wondered why she hadn't noticed any changes the day before since she hadn't gone anywhere. Putting that thought aside she made sure she left her hair a bit longer than it had been since she knew Mamoru liked the long length.
When she was done she gathered the cut hair and put it in a plastic bag she found in her closet. She knew she would have to take it outside to the trash when she left since she couldn't leave it in the trash in her room where her mother might see it.
She put the little bag aside and quietly snuck out of her room and down the stairs to grab the phone before hurrying back to her room with her hair trailing on the floor. She breathed quickly as she dialed Mamoru's number, hoping he would know what to do, the ringing on the line irritating the headache that was developing.
"Hello?" She heard him answer and she immediately began speaking.
"Mamoru! I just woke up and my hair has grown so long and it's almost completely silver now! I cut it and I'm not worried about that, but the color is too noticeable." Usagi explained frantically.
"Okay. Calm down love. I want you to cover your hair and when you're ready, leave as if you're going to school. I'll meet you a block away from your house." Mamoru told her and she thought that was a good idea. Her mom wouldn't see him and think he was taking her to school, so she wouldn't get angry at him if she learned she didn't go.
"Okay." Usagi agreed. "I'll see you soon. Bye."
"Bye." Mamoru said and she hung up.
After putting the phone back she grabbed a quick shower and got dressed in her uniform. Instead of doing her hair up in her usual style she just pulled it across her shoulders and let it drape there before she pulled on her coat and pulled her hood up to cover her head. Then she grabbed her school bag and the bag with her hair clippings and hurried downstairs.
Usagi called goodbye to whoever was listening and had to stop halfway out the door when her mom called out that she forgot her lunch. She considered leaving it but her mom had went through the effort of making it, so she hurried to grab it and left just as quickly to avoid questions.
She tossed the bag of hair in the trash before hurrying down the block to where Mamoru would meet her and found him already there. She opened the door and quickly got in the car and sighed as she buckled her seatbelt.
"Did you have trouble getting away?" Mamoru asked as he handed her a rose he pulled out of nowhere.
"I was halfway out the door when my mom called after me to give me my lunch, but I was still able to get away without being asked any questions." She answered as he began to drive.
"Can I see your hair?" He asked and instantly gasped when she lowered her hood before he looked back to the road. "It's beautiful but it will definitely cause problems if your family or classmates notice, or worse if Ami and Makoto notice since they would undoubtedly tell Luna and Rei." He said as he glanced back and forth between the street and her beautiful hair.
"True." Usagi agreed and shifted in her seat trying to stretch slightly to relieve her aches. Her lower back was hurting again and her neck hurt a bit. It must have been the way I slept. She thought as she tried to ignore her aches since they weren't too bad.
"What's wrong?" Mamoru asked as he noticed her discomfort.
"My neck and back hurts but that's probably from how I slept, and I developed a bit of a headache when I called you but that's just stress over my hair." She answered with a sigh.
"Alright." He said as he accepted her explanation. Is this caused by something else? He wondered. It has to be for her to be hurting in so many different places at the same time. He thought as he glanced at his girl.
"How are you feeling?" He asked once they were inside his apartment.
"My back and neck are the same but my headache is a little worse." She said as she stepped out of her shoes.
Mamoru helped Usagi out of her coat and placed it and her bags on the couch before leading her to his room.
"I'll be right back." He said after he helped her lay on his bed and walked out of the room. A few moments later he came back with a cup of water and a bottle of aspirin to help take care of her pain.
"Thank you." Usagi said as she sat up and took the aspirin before she lay back down and relaxed, enjoying the smell of roses in his room.
Mamoru gathered Usagi's hair and stretched it out next to her on the bed, and noticed how the silver and gold locks stood out from his light gray comforter as it cascaded over the end of his bed. It really was very beautiful but something needed to be done about it before it was noticed.
He frowned. He needed his crystal but he still had no clue how to get it. He had been interrupted yesterday by Minako's call and hadn't had the chance to get back to meditating. Perhaps he should try again and see what came to him.
"I'm going to try meditating to see if it'll help me access my crystal." He said to Usagi.
"Good luck." She said as she gazed up at him.
Mamoru sat back leaning against his headboard as he folded his legs and rested his hands on them before he began to think about his crystal.
About fifteen minutes into his meditation memories of lessons on his golden crystal surfaced. There weren't many since neither of his parents had possessed the crystal. He had been provided with small texts that mentioned the crystal and how it was to help protect the kingdom and planet. He had mostly had to use his instincts and figure out how to use the crystal on his own.
So Mamoru decided to think about his old kingdom and protecting it, which produced images of him walking around his old home. Then suddenly the image of a shrine and what looked like a sea of roses flashed in his mind, and his eyes snapped open as a single name whispered through his mind.
Elysion. He suddenly knew with certainty that that place could help him, and that he needed to go there even though he was unsure the place still existed.
Suddenly he heard a gasp and he looked at Usagi to see her staring at him with wide eyes, and he realized that he was glowing a soft white-gold. Before he could even think to say anything there was a bright flash that nearly blinded him and he found himself somewhere else just that quick.
Mamoru stood up quickly but calmed as he recognized where he was. He had somehow brought himself to Elysion. A beautiful white shrine greeted him with the ground covered in perfect red roses as far as the eye could see in all directions.
As he looked back to the shrine he saw a young man exit the doors and walk down the stairs and toward him, his steps not disturbing the roses except to release their scent. He had short white hair, light golden eyes, and a red jewel on his forehead. He wore a light and airy white outfit with light blue transparent lining around his neck and shoulders and dark blue lining around his wrists, the edges of the end of his top with a dark blue tied around his waist.
"Your highness." The man said in a soft voice with a bow as he reached him.
Mamoru stared at the man in confusion, wondering who the hell he was, until he suddenly remembered a name that he was sure fit.
"Helios." He said in a sure tone.
"Yes." The man said quietly, confirming that was indeed who he was.
Mamoru sighed and ran a hand through his hair as he wondered what to do next.
"I've only just remembered who I am, and my memories aren't complete yet. I have no idea how I got here or who you even are." He said, deciding to be blunt. "I was in my room trying to figure out how to get to my golden crystal when I suddenly remembered this place. I started glowing and then suddenly I was here." He added, knowing somehow that he could trust this man.
Helios nodded calmly at the flow of words before speaking.
"I am Helios as you recalled. I am the guardian of Elysion which is this sacred land" He said as he gestured toward the land around them. "that protects the Earth from within. We never met in the past, though we were aware of each other and the fact that we shared the same wish of protecting the Earth."
"You were brought to Elysion by your desire to come here. As the prince of Earth you have access whenever you wish it." He explained calmly. "Was there a reason you wished to come here Prince Endymion?" He asked. "You do not mind that I call you Endymion do you?" He asked considerately, aware that this version of the prince would have a different name.
"Not at all. Now that I remember I answer to it the same as I do my current name." He replied. "As for why I wanted to come here, well I hoped that coming here could somehow help me gain access to my crystal." He answered.
"Have you found the Moon Princess yet?" Helios asked.
"Yes. In fact, she was with me when I suddenly came here." He answered, thinking of how worried she probably was.
"The golden crystal is sealed inside you, and Princess Serenity is the only one who can break the seal." Helios explained.
"Okay. That means I have to go back to her." Mamoru said with a sigh, wondering how he was going to do that.
"Simply will yourself back to where you were." Helios said helpfully.
"Thank you Helios. For all your help." He said gratefully.
"Anytime your highness." Helios replied kindly.
With that Mamoru closed his eyes and thought of his bedroom and wanting to be back there, wanting to be back with Usagi. A flash of light later and he was suddenly hearing Usagi's worried voice.
"Mamoru!" Usagi called as she crawled across the bed and threw her arms around his neck, the skin contact sending electric jolts down their spines, which was ignored in the moment.
She had been shocked when he disappeared from right next to her and worried when the minutes passed and he didn't reappear. She had no idea what happened, no idea what to do, no idea where he had gone, when he would be back, or if he would be back at all!
His disappearance must have something to do with his powers. She thought and decided to hope that he would be back.
When just over half an hour passed Usagi had begun to get frantic when the flash of light happened again and Mamoru was standing next to the bed.
"I'm fine. I'm sorry I worried you." Mamoru said as he wrapped his arms around her and held her close.
Once she was calm they settled on the bed and he told her where he had gone, who he had spoken with, and what Helios had to say.
How did he live so long? Usagi wondered before frowning. "I have no idea how to break your seal." She said.
"I have an idea. Maybe just my worry over you will work. My desire to protect you." He said thoughtfully.
"It's worth a try." Usagi said with a slight shrug.
Mamoru held Usagi's hand, savoring the electric sparks that traveled along his hand and up his arm, closed his eyes and focused all thoughts on his golden crystal. On needing it to help his princess, to hide her hair color to keep her safe.
Usagi watched Mamoru as she held tight to his hand trying not to shift at the tingling shocks moving along her hand and up her arm. She hoped his idea worked. She wanted him to have his crystal, she was sure he needed it for more than to hide her changing hair color. He probably needed it to feel right, to feel complete.
As she finished the thought he started to glow a soft gold that brightened to a rich gold within moments. The area around his chest brightened further and she watched with wide eyes as a golden hexagon shaped crystal appeared and hovered in front of his chest. She watched as he opened his eyes and looked at the crystal with a smile before wrapping his free hand around it. He closed his eyes once more and an expression of relief and bliss settled on his face. She had been right. Having his crystal obviously made him feel complete.
Mamoru sighed happily. He finally had his crystal. Part of him was surprised at how much better he felt with its warm glow surrounding him, and the other part had been expecting it and looking forward to it. He felt complete now when before he had not realized that something was missing, which was now obvious. He had needed the connection to his crystal.
He opened his eyes and looked at his crystal then focused on hiding Usagi's hair color, to make it appear the golden color everyone was used to, and make a connection between her hair and his crystal so he wouldn't have to worry about reapplying it every day.
His eyes glowed golden and the golden glow traveled along their connected hands and along her body until it enveloped her hair before disappearing. He was aware that the connection he made would be feeding off his energy but it would take so little that he doubted he would notice unless he was doing something that would make him tired.
"This will only be until I get my crystal. I want you to be careful until then." Usagi said with a frown after he told her about the connection.
"I will." He assured her before releasing her hand.
He pulled his black cane from his subspace pocket and secured his crystal on top of it as the glow faded from his eyes and body. Once he was done he put it back knowing that he could use it whenever he wanted without taking it out, and that if he did then he would most likely be facing something serious that called for him to do so.
"Do you want to go to school now that your hair color is fixed since you'll only be a little over an hour late?" He asked his girlfriend.
"No." Usagi decided. "I'll just go tomorrow so I won't have to worry about getting detention or coming up with an excuse. You should go to your classes though. I'll just stay here and take a nap and hope my headache goes away. That way you won't have to use up any energy to hide my hair color until it's time for me to leave."
"Hmm…" Mamoru hummed in hesitation, wanting to stay with her.
"I don't want you to miss any classes. Besides, you'll be back in a few hours anyway since you're usually done before I get out of school." She said.
"Alright." He said with a slight sigh before cutting the connection to his crystal, and watching the silver reappear in her hair with a smile. "Don't forget you have your lunch." He reminded her. "If you want more the kitchen is stocked so help yourself."
"Okay." Usagi said with a nod before they shared an intense goodbye kiss, any shyness or hesitation seemingly on vacation since they remembered their shared past.
"I hope your headache goes away soon." Mamoru said as he pulled away.
"Me too." She agreed. "Have a good day. Bye." She said as he stood up.
"Bye." He said and she watched him walk out the room, and heard the front door close a few moments later.
4 hours later…
Mamoru closed the door to his apartment with a sigh, glad to be back. It had been hard to concentrate when he knew that his princess was in his home. He slipped out of his shoes and placed his books on the couch noticing that Usagi's things hadn't been touched.
He walked down the hall and into his room to find his love asleep under his light gray comforter, her silver and gold hair resting on top of the cover. He gently sat down next to her so he wouldn't disturb her, pulled a section of her hair into his lap, and ran his fingers through the silky mass as he watched her sleep.
As he played with her hair he noticed that she was wearing the locket he gave her. He smiled at that but was a little irritated to know that even in this life she could not wear both the bracelet and necklace without attracting attention.
At least she will be able to wear both occasionally. He consoled himself as he watched her peaceful face, and idly ran his fingers through her hair as he lost himself in thought.
When he was in class he realized the connection with his crystal had completed his memory. He remembered how and when he met his generals and that they had been paired off with the Senshi in relationships.
So my theory about Rei liking me in the past isn't right as far as I can tell. Going through my memories I've never noticed Mars paying me any particular attention. Not that I would have been looking for it. In the beginning she hadn't liked that Serenity and I were seeing each other, and later she ended up with Jadeite so I don't see how she could have any feelings for me. He considered thoughtfully.
I suppose its possible things hadn't been perfect in their relationship, which really isn't a surprise considering the enemy had gotten a hold of my generals. I hadn't noticed anything different about them, but there had to have been changes in their personality and behavior. He thought with a frown.
He remembered that he hadn't been around his Shitennou much at the end, which he now understood was most likely because of the evil influence, but the Sailor Senshi must have. They definitely would have noticed behavior changes.
He would have to see if Usagi knew anything when her memory was complete. Something that should happen when she found her crystal. If the connection with his crystal could unlock the remainder of his memories then the same should happen when she connected with hers.
Another thing he remembered was how to use a sword, which was something he planned on teaching Usagi. It was definitely something that would add to her confidence level and help to protect herself and others.
Mamoru was snapped out of his thoughts as he heard Usagi sigh and he watched as she stretched before opening her eyes.
Usagi blinked in surprise at seeing her Prince there and wondered how long he had been there.
"Hi." She said softly. "When did you get back?" She asked.
"About twenty minutes ago." He answered. "Is your headache gone?" He asked in concern.
"It's mostly gone but there's still a slight ache." She answered. "How did your classes go?" She asked as she sat up.
"They were okay but it was difficult to pay attention when I knew you were here and wanted to be here with you." He answered. "Aside from that I realized that the connection with my crystal had restored the rest of my memories. I think the same will happen with you."
"That would be great but I still need to find my crystal." She said with a sigh. "I think the rainbow crystals have a connection to it considering how I seemed to know how to use one of them to help you remember your past."
"Maybe handling them will help. You might remember something or some instinct will surface." Mamoru suggested before he pulled out the two crystals he had and placed them on the bed for her.
How can you help me find my crystal? She wondered as she picked up one of the crystals and looked at it as she had before. She remembered that his worry over her had helped him gain his crystal, so she decided to try the same thing.
"I'm going to try the same thing you did earlier and see if that works." Usagi told Mamoru.
"Go for it. I hope it works." He said encouragingly.
Usagi nodded and took a steadying breath as she grabbed and held his hand in her free hand, letting the familiar electric jolts calm her nerves. She gazed at the crystal and filled her mind with thoughts of her prince. Thoughts of wanting to protect him, wanting to fight by his side, and her love for him.
Please help me find my silver crystal. I need it to remember the rest of my past. I need it to help protect the one I love. She said to the crystal.
Mamoru watched Usagi stare at the crystal in her hand. He tightened his hold on the hand he held and hoped with everything he had that her idea worked. She needed her silver crystal not only to gain the rest of her memories, but also to keep it safe and to be able to feel complete. He knew first hand that she would feel so much better and more confident when the connection happened. She needed that so much with all she had been through.
He held his breath as the colorful crystal began to glow and pulse before floating into the air. They watched as it grew brighter and the pulse faster, both of them getting the feeling that it was calling to something with the constant pulse.
Usagi gasped as they watched the other rainbow crystal lift off the bed and float to the brighter crystal before seemingly fusing with it. Within moments five more crystals floated through the wall next to the window and toward the brightly glowing crystal. They flew into the crystal one after another, and when the last one fused with the bright crystal a flash of light forced them to close their eyes.
When the royal couple opened their eyes again they both gasped. Floating in the air where the brightly glowing crystal had been was now a shining silver crystal gently pulsing.
Suddenly a wand appeared in front of Usagi and they both recognized it as the Crescent Moon Wand she had used as Sailor Moon. They watched as the crystal floated toward the wand and secured itself in the curve of the crescent.
Usagi looked to Mamoru and he smiled back at her before nodding.
"Go ahead love. Take it." He said encouragingly.
Usagi nodded and looked back to the floating wand. She reached out with her free hand and grasped it, a soft white glow immediately formed around her.
