Shiki: New Life Bonus Chapter 2

"So, have you heard that there is something going on in the forest, right?" A girl with red hair and light amber eyes told her friends, a girl and a boy. "Shino? We don't know whats out there. What if one of the wild dogs get to us?" The girl with long wavy brown hair and pale blue eyes said to Shino. "I got to agree with Kioko, my father said many wild dogs have been roaming the woods lately." The boy who had scraggy dark green hair and light yellow eyes muttered. "Tatsuzo, Kioko, we will be fine!" Shino exclaimed as she went on ahead, the night sky still lingered on since winter was slowly approaching. Shino and her group were in Mitsuo's school but in a different class, their full names were Shino Kusai, Kioko Iba, and Tatsuzo Aomori.

Walking deep into the woods, Shino's heart for adventure and wonder opened up, it was a thing she had since a young child. Shino wished to know what the world was like outside of Sotoba, the village she lived in since her birth. "Come on guys! We need to see the city lights!" Shino said as Kioko and Tatsuzo were trying to keep up with their excited friend. "Wait for us Shino!" Kioko said as she was gasping, the hilled areas were steep and hard to climb, a reason not many people wish to visit Sotoba. Tatsuzo huffed as he climbed, he was born with a poor heart condition and knew this would slow him down a bit.

"Guys! I see the city!" Shino yelled down to her friends which Tatsuzo walked up and looked at the city as he was beside Shino. "Amazing..." Tatsuzo smiled as he looked at the city with awe. "Wait a minute. Where is Kioko?" Tatsuzo noticed Kioko wasn't here, she would have been here before him so, where was she? "Maybe she went home, there is a old forest trail right near us that leads to our houses." Shino said and Tatsuzo gave a slightly worried smile, hoping she did go home. "Ya know? We should really head home before our parents freak out on us for being out late." Shino smiled as she took Tatsuzo's arm towards the trail.

"Hey, Tatsuzo?" Shino suddenly stopped and faced her friend. "Yeah? What is it Shino?" Tatsuzo tilted his head with confusion until she gave him a kind smile. "When we graduate, do you want to run away with me to explore the world together?" Tatsuzo's eyes were widened as Shino asked him. Of course he would live to go with her. "I would love to go with you. It would be a once in a lifetime event." Tatsuzo smiled as he and Shino hugged each other.

"Thank you, Tatsuzo." Shino whispered to her friend. "Thank you, Shino." Tatsuzo replied as he and Shino walked home together, not realizing red eyes were peering at them.
