A/N: WHO'S READY?! The next chapter will be up this evening /night (UK time) I PROMISE!
Warning: Minor swears and hospitals
It was mid day when Alice woke up.
"Uuuuuugh." She let out a low moan as she rubbed her stomach. Why did it feel so tight this morning?
She sat bolt upright.
"FRANCIS!"
Francis was chopping vegetables with Lovino in the kitchen, his blonde ponytail bobbing.
"I don't think Alice will be stupid enough to drink alcohol tonight." Lovino muttered, but Francis shook his head.
"It's not that, I just want her safe." He answered, slicing the potatoes into chip-sized chunks.
"She's in the house 24/7, let her live a little." Lovino hissed as he sliced his finger slightly, and moved towards the first aid box. "As soon as I become Zio Lovino she's not going to have any freedom whatsoever."
"I know." Francis looked down. "We've got another two months though. We're gonna pick baby names soon, I like Marie for a girl and Mattieu for a boy."
"Those sound French." Lovino grunted. "Did you go back last night?"
"I slept on the couch; I didn't want her to feel uncomfortable."
Alice walked slowly to the kitchen.
"Please, please don't move about." Alice begged the twins, as she poured herself a glass of water. Another contraction hit as she dropped the glass into the sink, and leant towards the table. She reached for her phone, and dialled Francis's number.
"How would she feel uncomfortable? If anything she'd feel more comforted, with you being her boyfriend and all."
"You know the letter I got yesterday, Lovi?"
"Si?"
"It was from Papa, he was telling me to propose."
"Oh."
The two continued cutting in silence, neither noticing the buzzing from Francis's locker…
"Shit shit shit…" Alice moaned as she went to answerphone twice. She looked at the staircase, it wasn't worth attempting to go downstairs on her own. She exhaled as she dialled Amelia's number.
"Hey you've reached Freedom, who wants me?" the chirpy American greeted.
"Am-y its Alice." She grunted.
"Who Alice what's up you sound in labour.
"I am…" she answered. "Or at least I think I a-m."
"HOLY CRAP FOURTH OF JULY BABY!" Amelia screeched down the phone. "Wheres Franny I need to congratulate him."
"I t-hink hes at work… He's not picking up." Alice moaned.
"Shit shit shit shit shit" Amelia blanked as this information processed.
"Whats going on?" A voice from the other end of the receiver asked. "Alice?"
"Eliza?" Alice panted. "I can't get Francis."
"I'm on my way." Eliza's comforting voice rang down the receiver. "GILBERT! GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE WE'RE GOING TO ALICE'S NOW." She turned away from the handset to yell at her boyfriend. "Alice we'll be over in 20 minutes, hang on and don't push, we'll try ringing Francis again for you." She comforted her before hanging up, and Alice felt slightly relieved.
"How many more onions do I have to chop?"
"How much coleslaw do you think we'll need?"
The two stood contemplating when a Hungarian and a German burst into the room, trailed by a frightened Feliciano.
"WHERE THE HECK IS YOUR PHONE FRENCHIE?!" Elizabeta screeched at Francis.
"It's in my locker, what the heck are you doing bursting into my kitchen like this?" Francis glared at her
"ALICE IS IN LABOUR!" Gilbert yelled at him, slightly defending his girlfriend who hi-fived him behind their backs.
"Mon dieu." Francis paled, before he and Liz took the stairs two at a time, bursting in to find Alice hunched in the kitchen moaning.
"Gilbert, get the car running again." Liz instructed as they both helped her down the stairs. Gilbert ran out of the restaurant.
"Lovi, Feli, you're in charge. Feli help in the kitchen too." Francis ordered and the two brothers ran off. Alice's contractions weren't too far apart as they got her into the car and sped down the road to the hospital.
"I'm sorry Alice, but you're not dilated enough to go to the birthing room yet." Katyusha, the Nurse sighed to her in the pre-birth room. Alice lay on the bed moaning, her fringe sticking to her forehead. "Here." She set up Alice's painkillers. "I'll be back in an hour." She said for the eighth time that day; Alice had been in labour for nearly nine and a half hours and it was nearing 10pm.
"Francis?" Alice turned to her partner.
"Oui?" he replied.
"I'm sorry." She snivelled a little, as he squeezed her hand.
"Mon cher, It is fine." He replied, his own voice thick with emotion.
"They're early and it's my fault, and-"
"-they're early because we fought too." He finished. "We haven't even thought of Baby names." He chuckled.
"We'll, we have time seeing as I'm only 5cm dilated." She grunted. "I like Anna or Alfred, but Alfie for short on that one."
"Marie or Mattieu." He breathed
"Then it's settled; Anna and Marie or Alfie and Matt."
"What if it's one of each?" He asked
"Well, I like Marie too." She giggled.
"Marie and Alfie then." Francis smiled.
"Sorted."
In the waiting room, nearly a whole section was just for the impending Kirkland-Bonnefoy birth. The three Kirkland brothers were sitting next to each other neatly, exchanging words with three Braginski siblings. Amelia and Maddie were sitting near them, Amy decked out totally stared and striped whilst Maddie was in a red and white sundress. Gilbert, Toni and Eliza were sitting a few seats away, talking amongst themselves. As 10:30pm approached, Agatha, Arthur and Peter arrived, fitting in neatly between their sons and Amelia, who was now jumping up and down in her seat whilst holding Nicolai's hand. News soon reached them that Alice was only 7cm dilated and that they'd be there for a while. Nerves struck them all at different points in the wait about how early this was. All except for Peter, who was sleeping soundly in the sailor suit Alice had bought him back in May with his head on his mother's lap.
It was 11:40pm when Katyusha smiled up at Alice.
"Well, you're there." She grinned
"Really?" Francis blinked
"Yeah, 10cm." she replied
"Great." Alice exhaled. "Just as I had hoped to get some sleep."
"Well, you can get an extra long sleep as soon as you've got your twins." Kat smiled. "I'll just go get the doctor to double check for you while I go an inform your visitors." She left the room and a Japanese man entered, greeting them as Doctor Honda.
"Yes, Miss Kat was correct." He looked up at them. "Ready for your lives to change?"
