It has been 1 month and a half since Kira was shot down, as usual the board and the nation leaders came to visit. But this time when they walked into the hospital they saw Kira walking around with the help of some doctors, they quickly ran to him "What are you doing?" Mu said, Kira smiled "Getting out of the hospital" "Can you even walk?" Kira smiled "I can walk with assistance" "I don't think that would good Kira" Lacus said placing a head on his bandaged chest, Kira frowned "I'm okay, besides staying here isn't helping anything" There was a silent pause and Kia decided to use this to his advantage, he signaled the doctors to started walking; once they got to the doors Kira said "Alright boys, I think I can take it from here" they slowly let go, and quickly they were replaced by crutches. "Where to first?" Kira smiled "To work of course!" Lacus frowned "You should go home first" "I'll go home after"
Since the hospital was just a five minute walk, they all decided to walk to the building; sometimes they would glance at Kira to see how he was doing, he looked fine but they knew Kira was hiding the pain he felt so they decided not to ask. Eventually they made it, when the entered the building everyone turned and stared as they saw the Commander walking again; they applauded him, Kira smiled but never actually said "Thank you" he just continued walking, he walked all the way to the elevators and went directly to his hanger. The board watched as he wobbled his way over to the giant doors, he leaned his body against the wall and swiped the security key that opened the doors.
Kira pushed himself off the wall and walked into the darkness of the hanger, everyone followed slowly behind. They heard someone clap their hands and they lights turned on, that's when everyone saw the extent of damage dealt to the Gundam but Kira held firm and walked to a desk by the Gundam; he pressed a button and soon a frame shaped as a person attached itself to him. Kira groaned in pain but it quickly vanished, Kira placed the crutches down and started walking. "How are you?" Mu said looking at him, "This is a brace that completely disregards the injuries that the person was faced with, and fixes the victim's body so that it acts like it never suffered the injury" Meyrin nodded in affirmation "When you remove the brace then the injuries will come back" Kira nodded and turned towards the Gundam.
"I've brought you through hell and back didn't I?" he walked up and placed one hand on the Gundam's leg as he stared up at him. Kira smiled "We'll have you fixed up and running like always". Kira took a stroll all around the Gundam before climbing the iron platforms that workers were using to restore the Gundam to what it was before. "Kira be careful" Lacus said looking at him as he made his way to the destroyed cockpit, Kira didn't disregarded the comment. He walked the cockpit and looked inside "Hey La Flaga, there are still blood stains in my chair" Kira then entered the cockpit and sat down in his chair getting a glimpse of was almost his fate just a month ago. Kira pushed the control column forward a little bit and felt his Gundam move; he smiled and quickly hopped out. He ran down the stairs and grabbed himself a spare helmet "Kira what are you doing?" Lacus said grabbing onto his arm, Kira smiled as he allowed Lacus to stare into his eyes "I'm just going to fly for a bit don't worry" Lacus shook her head "You're not fully healed an-" she was cut off as Kira placed a soft kiss upon her lips, he pulled away slowly "Trust me" Lacus nodded not before stealing one more kiss.
Kira smiled and quickly ran up to the Gundam "Kira I don't think your Strike Freedom can fly" Kira chuckled "It'll fly" he put on his helmet and jumped into the cockpit. Once he got inside he started rocking the control column back and forth as the Gundam started moving, Kira then turned on the 'Phase shift Armor' and suddenly the Gundam started to jolt with life. Suddenly a video interface popped up "How does the Strike Freedom still have power" Kira smiled "I cut the power after I finished them off" "You can't launch you're still hurt" Kira smirked "Then come stop me"
"Kira Yamato! Strike Freedom Launching!"
The broken Gundam shot up into the air leaving a trial of sparks before disappearing behind the clouds, Mu groaned "Alright, I guess we have to get him down" everyone laughed "Don't hurt him though" Lacus said firmly. Mu smiled "I'm sorry Ms. Supreme Chairwoman" before he ran out to chase after Kira.
Kira spent the next half an hour flying away from Mu La Flaga, eventually he had to land back in his hanger because the Strike Freedom had run low on power. After landing, he got out and travelled down the stairs he took one more glance at his Gundam before walking towards the desk; he grabbed his crutches and pressed a button to dissolve of the brace that clung to his body. Kira then walked out of his hanger, the giant doors closed behind him and he started working his way to the boardroom.
When he approached the doors, he pushed them open slowly and slowly entered the room "Kira you put up a fight up there" Mu said relaxing in his chair. Kira disregarded the comment and just sat himself in his chair; he mind went into overdrive as thoughts ran through his mind. "Kira?" Lacus placed a hand on his shoulder, Kira slowly turned his gazes to the hand, and eventually to Lacus "Don't worry" he quickly turned his gaze back to the table as he thought a tiny bit more. The room was in complete silence until Kira broke it "We are going to run extermination" Shinn looked at him confused "Extermination?" Kira slowly nodded. "What do you mean?" "They are still out there" Mu instantly stood up "That's impossible, they cannot be more since we disposed of them" Kira slowly shook his head "I have a feeling that they are still out there" "Then what are we going to do?" "Exterminate".
"Are you suggesting that we do that?" Kira shrugged and just went into deep thought "I don't think that'll work since Kira is out" Lacus said showing concern. "I guess we don't need to do it now" "But then you'll have troubles again" Kira shrugged "I don't want to talk about it, I'm going to head home" Kira slowly got up and started walking towards the door. He suddenly stopped and turned around "This is what we'll do; we'll station laser force field docs on the outskirts of PLANTS. And if we deploy them, then it'll project a force field around the Plants protecting it" "But that is a short time fix" Kira just glared at Mu "Just do it" before he turned around and walked out the door.
Mu sighed "I guess short term fix is better than another battle" he got up "Might as well do it, so that they kid can sleep a tiny bit better" Everyone got up and walked to the hangers, leaving Murrue and Lacus in the boardroom "I wonder how he'll get home" Murrue walked to the balcony and looked over the stunning view, she saw a figure catch her eye "He is right there" she pointed in the direction of Kira. Lacus walked over "Right he can't drive" "Lacus I think you should head home too, the others won't be back until a little bit before dinner" she nodded and walked out the doors as well.
When Lacus got home, she searched the house for Kira; she didn't actually search she just made sure that Kira wasn't in any other rooms before heading into their room. She quickly opened the door and got herself changed before slipping in bed with Kira. "Kira?" she nudged him to wake up, he slowly turned, he slowly lost himself in Lacus's blue eyes; Lacus smiled "So when are you going to take your break?" "I don't know maybe when you get all of mine and Emily's stuff and bring them here?" Lacus frowned "That'll take a few days" Kira nodded "But leave one pair of my pjs there" "But I bet you two have a lot there" he nodded "Well Emily is a girl after all, and if the things are not here by tomorrow then I'll head back to work"
Lacus frowned "Then I will get everyone to help me then" Kira shrugged and turned back over. "Are you going to eat?" he shook his head "I'm not that hungry" she sighed and walked out the room and down the stairs, "Emily dear, you and daddy will be living here from now on okay?" she nodded "Okay Ms.- Mommy" before waltzing away. Lacus turned towards Cagalli "We have to get all of Kira's and Lacus's belongings and bring them here" the blonde just stared at her "I'm surprised that Emily slipped up" Lacus stared at her dumbfounded making Cagalli smile "Kira had a talk with Emily; he said that she has to start calling you mommy. She slipped up means that she doesn't trust you yet" Lacus frowned "Since you're like that then you'll have to make dinner"
Cagalli frowned "I'm I guest here, so you'll have to cook" Lacus sighed and was about to get in a full argument with Cagalli but Caridad stepped in "I shall cook" they both nodded and decided to join the children as they all waited for dinner to show.
Everyone waited for about 30 minutes, and then they all started to eat. Sadly during dinner Kira never came down, and out of everyone there Emily was the most worried; everyone could tell by the way she acted while eating dinner well except Kenneth who was too busy eating. After Lacus finished she looked over at Emily who was looking down at her hands and she let her little legs dangle off the edge of the chair, she smiled "Why don't you see daddy?" She watched as she saw Emily's expression change, she saw a little girl who showed a troubled expression to someone who just got the best thing in the world for their birthday.
She instantly jumped off her chair and started gunning for the stairs, everyone watched as she ran up them and to the room where her father was. Everyone listened as they heard Emily yelled "Hi! Daddy" before they heard the door close shut. Cagalli smiled "Be careful Lacus, Emily might just marry Kira" Lacus smiled, "Mommy where did Emily go?" Kenneth said with a mouth full of food. Caridad frowned "You shouldn't talk with your mouth full" Kenneth lowered his head "Sorry grandma" and continued on eating his dinner. Instead of waiting for Kenneth to finish she decided to get up and start cleaning up the table "Kenny when you're done please clean up the playroom" Kenneth quickly swallowed "Emily made the mess too!" "Emily doesn't play with boy toys" the boy just frowned and continued eating.
After cleaning up the table and washing the dishes, Lacus went to the playroom and helped Kenneth clean up before helping him get ready for bed. Luckily today was one of the only days when Kenneth cooperated in going to bed early and Lacus was very, very grateful for that. After everything died down Lacus made her way to the living room and dropped herself onto the couch as she let out a long sigh "The day has finally come to a close" Cagalli smiled "Emily's been in your room for ages, maybe they fell asleep together" Lacus smiled "Yeah" Cagalli thought for a second "You should be jealous of her" Lacus turned towards her "Why?" "Because since she is sleeping with Kira, you'll have no one to cuddle with in bed" Lacus started fiddling with her fingers are a slight blush found its way onto her face "I-I'm fine with it, since I've slept alone for 4 years"
Cagalli chuckled "You're weird sometimes" she got up and stretched before yawning "I'm going to head to bed" she scratched her head and started walking upstairs. Lacus sighed and wondered around the house for a little bit before finally heading towards her room, she slowly opened the door and walked in closing the door behind her; she looked over to the bed and smiled. She saw the back of Emily facing her; she also saw a pair of arms around her holding the child in a soft embrace as she slept peacefully. Lacus's gazes eventually found its way to Kira's face and saw his eyes stare back at her. Kira smiled and moved one hand to his lips signaling her to be quiet, feeling that Emily wasn't in an embrace anymore she shifted slightly; Kira immediately looked down and placed a kiss on the top of her head before moving his arm back around Emily pulling her closer to his body.
Lacus nodded and quickly grabbed her night gown; she then walked into the bathroom and got changed. She eventually made her way out of the bathroom; she placed her clothes in the laundry basket and climbed into bed sliding underneath the covers until she came face to face with Kira. She smiled "Hi" Kira returned the kind gesture "Hey" before they both leaned in and placed a soft kiss upon their lips before pulling away "Why didn't you come down for dinner?" Lacus asked whispering to her partner "I just have a lot on my mind is all, anyways I wasn't that hungry" Lacus frowned, she reached over and placed her hand in his cheek "You're a very bad liar" Kira smiled "I know" Kira reached for Lacus's waist and pulled her closer to himself and Emily, they budded foreheads "I don't know about you, but I'm going to bed" she nodded and leaned in for a goodnight kiss before both of them dozed off to sleep.
"Daddy? Daddy! Wake up!" Emily said shaking her father's body, the child frowned and decided to take one of the pillows and covered her father's face, she then pushed down on the pillow. Seeing that her father didn't want to wake up she started jumping on the bed screaming "Wake up!" she did this for a good few minutes until she was suddenly pulled down to the bed, a pair of arms wrapped around her pulling her into a bear hug. Kira the placed his face besides his daughter "You know you're very loud" Emily took her hand and playfully slapped Kira's cheek "Get up!" he frowned "I am up" she shook her head "No, you have to be out of bed" Kira rolled over "But I don't want to" Emily screamed "D-Daddy! You're squishing me!" Kira smiled "Oh sorry I'll get up now" he sat up releasing Emily from her death hug, he then moved himself to the side of the bed and got up and slowly made his way to the door, "Daddy you should get your stick" Emily said pointing at the cane that rested against the wall.
Kira shook his head "It's okay daddy heals quickly" he opened the door and walked out "Daddy wait for me!" she said running out after him. Kira was about to walk down the stairs when Emily attached herself onto his leg, he looked down "How may I help you?" she lifted her arms, stood on her tippy toes and smiled. Kira sighed "You're too old for that" Emily frowned "Please!" Kira stared at her and had to suffer through her puppy dog eyes, he covered his face with his hand and sighed "Fine" he picked up Emily and carried her down the stairs, "Now why did you wake up daddy today?" Emily smiled and whispered "You have work today" Kira's eyes widened he quickly placed Emily down and made his way upstairs and got changed, he walked down the stairs and kissed Emily on the cheek before heading out the door.
Emily watched as her father walked to the car and drove off in the direction of work, Emily smiled before yelling "Okay grandma! Daddy left the house!" Caridad walked out of the kitchen "Thank you sweetie" Emily ran up to her and gave her one big hug before waltzing off to the living room to watch some TV while Cagalli and Lacus moved everything to where Emily and Kira will stay permanently.
Kira drove up to the building and parked his car in his spot until he walked his way into the building, he looked around and smiled; luckily everything was in working order again well except the Strike Freedom. He turned towards the elevators and made his way up to the boardroom, once the level he was greeted by others who worked there getting the usual 'Welcome back Commander' he smiled and happily returned the gesture. Once he finally made his way to the boardroom and pushed open the doors "Hello, Hello!" Kira said approaching the table.
"Shouldn't you be at home, and where is your cane?" Mu asked staring at his friend, "I don't need them" he sat down in his chair "Did they install my bed in my office?" Dearka nodded "They installed it right after you ordered it, you just didn't notice it" The brunette smirked before getting up, "I think I'll go take my nap" he walked towards his office and closed the door behind him.
Murrue looked in the direction of where Kira disappeared to and sighed "I guess we can tell him later" Luna looked at her confused "What do you mean?" Murrue smiled and placed her hand on her stomach "Kira is going to be an Uncle soon" Meyrin smiled before screaming "Congratulations!" she smiled "Thank you" after Meyrin settled down they all went back to work.
"That should be the last of them" Cagalli said moving most of their belongings into the car "The two have a lot of things" Lacus said sitting herself onto the couch, "Yeah but it's mostly all Emily's things" Cagalli sat down next to Lacus, her eyes scanned the place for anything that they may have missed and suddenly something caught her eye "How did I miss these?" she got up and walked towards a counter and picked up 2 books, she smiled and made her way to the couch she then plopped herself back onto it and started looking through the books.
Lacus glanced over "What are you looking at there?" Cagalli sat silent for a few seconds "These are… These are Emily's and Kira's photo album" Lacus moved herself over to Cagalli and started looking through the pictures with her. They flipped through the pages; the pictures showed a timeline of Emily from when she was little to what she is now. Lacus smiled as they went through the pictures suddenly a picture popped into her mind "How were the pictures taken? They look like they were taken when the two were not looking" Cagalli smiled "They were taken by your truly!"
Lacus smiled and looked through the pictures until one picture caught her eye "Why in this picture Emily is being carried around by Kira in the boardroom?" Cagalli looked at the picture for a while "Since you always stayed down in the political part, and Kira stayed up in the Military part he would always bring Emily up there with him" "Didn't you and Ms. Caridad help him though?" Cagalli nodded "Yeah but you know, boys want to do everything by themselves" Lacus smiled before slipping the page "Hey what's this?" Lacus said pointing to some sort of video inside the photo album; Cagalli shrugged "This is the first time I looked into these books" Lacus thought for a second before hesitantly clicking on the video to begin.
"Come on Emily, say dada!" Kira said holding a small Emily
Emily stared at her smiling a beautiful smile, she let out a giggle.
Kira sighed and tickled Emily's little nose with his finger, the child giggled even more as she took his finger and started playing with it.
"Say dada!" Emily wiggled her arms her hand holding Kira's finger as she giggled.
She eventually stopped and stared at her father in the eyes, she stared at him intensely.
"D-"Kira smiled "You're doing good, say dada"
"Da-"Emily giggled and started wiggling her little arms again.
Kira frowned "No giving up" he removed his finger from Emily's grasp and soon enough Emily tried to each for it. Kira pulled his finger out of her grasp "Say dada"
Emily started wining and then started to pout, she started to kick and scream "Da-"
Kira smiled "say dada"
"Dada!" she screamed as she finally grabbed hold of the finger, Kira smiled and kissed Emily on the forehead "You did amazing beautiful!" she gave Emily one big hug, the child giggled and snuggled herself closer to her father.
Soon the next video played after that.
A pink headed toddler navigated around the furniture as she clung to the couch for support, Caridad walked behind her and picked her up she carried Emily and sat opposite from Kira who was already sitting on the floor.
The child giggle and grabbed Caridad's fingers, the child's grandmother helped her to her feet.
Kira smiled "Come on pumpkin, come to daddy"
The child started walking towards him, she smiled. Caridad removed her fingers from her grasp allowing the child to stand on her own. Sadly Emily fell as soon as she had nothing to hold onto.
The child fell onto her butt, her face showing a confused expression. "You can do it" Kira said holding out his hands.
Emily smiled and slowly got herself off the ground where Caridad held her until she was ready. The pink headed child stood up and slowly started walking with the aid from her grandmother. Caridad removed her fingers from Emily's grasp and watched.
The child slowly took her few steps without an aid, until finally falling onto the floor the child's face showing an expression of happiness and satisfaction.
Kira ran up to her and took her into his arms, he smiled, laughed and tickled Emily's belly "I knew you could do it!" Kira said giving Emily one big hug, Emily giggled and like always she snuggled herself closer to her father.
The video stopped, and started showing pictures of Emily and then the video stopped; Cagalli silently closed the album and placed it to the side of her. Lacus stood up "I-I think we should go" Cagalli nodded and picked up the albums before she and Lacus walked out the door. Cagalli quickly put the albums in the back before hopping in the front, she turned on the car and Lacus hopped in before driving away in the direction of home.
"Cagalli, do you think I'll be a good mother to Emily?" Cagalli stayed quiet for a second "Good mother?" "Yeah you know Emily's lived without a mom for 4 years. Do you think she'll ever adjust to me?" Cagalli smiled "She'll adjust eventually, but she'll always be Kira's little girl" Lacus smiled. A long silence filled the car as they got closer to home, "I'll tell him when we get to the building" Cagalli smiled "Alrighty"
"It's already 2:45pm and Kira still hasn't come out of his office" Shinn grunted as he laid back in his chair, "Take naps is fine, don't need to be all mad about it" Meyrin said looking over at Shinn. "It's a big deal when he leaves all the work for us" "There you go again Shinn ranting on things that are meaningless" everyone chuckled and went back to work, soon Lacus and Cagalli came through the door "We're back!" Lacus scanned the room "Where's Kira?" she asked looking around the place. "He's asleep in his office" Shinn grunted covering his eyes with his arm.
Lacus smiled before she walked over to Kira's office door, everyone looked at here wondering what she'll do. She opened the door and jumped inside "Kira wake up!"
"W-What? I'm trying to sleep…"
"Sleep when we get home, I have something to tell you"
"What is it now?"
Mu looked over to Cagalli who was grinning who widest smile "What do you know about this?" she turned "Lacus is pregnant" in unison everyone in the room yelled "What!" Cagalli nodded "Yeah, they somehow found the time to do it" Murrue smiled "Then I think that our baby will be great friends with theirs" Cagalli looked at her in confusing before she smiled "Congratulations!"
"You're what?!" everyone quickly turned their stares to Kira's office, a rustle was heard until out popped Kira and Lacus sharing a passionate kiss for all to see. They eventually pulled away before they ran down the hall hand in hand, Cagalli smiled "Well prepare to do all of Kira's work for a few days" everyone chuckled "Well since Kira isn't going to be here, might as well we all head home" and without everyone quickly packed up and headed home.
At the Yamato Household
"Hi Daddy!" Emily said hugging her father's leg; Kira smiled and picked up Emily returning the hug. Kira walked over to the couch and sat down "Hey Emily?" she looked up and smiled "Daddy has something to tell you" "What is it Daddy?" he smiled "Mommy and Daddy are going to be having another baby" Emily stared at her father for a little bit before smiling her widest smile "Yay!". From the corner of Kira's eye came a running figure yelling "Yes!" Kenneth ran and stopped in front of Kira "Boy please" Emily frowned "No girl!"
Kira smiled "We'll find out soon enough" patted both Kenneth and Emily on the head before heading over to his room, upon he smiled as he grabbed Lacus by the waist and pulled down to the bed "Hi" Kira said looking into Lacus's eyes, she only smiled and returned the kind gesture. They just laid there enjoying their moment when suddenly something caught his attention, he looked up and smiled as he got up from the bed and walked towards it "I'm glad Cagalli got it for me" he pulled out the album and walked himself to the edge of the bed and sat down.
He started flipping through it, having a few chuckles as he reminisced on the old days. Kira flipped to the pages where it showed Emily's first moments from her first word to her first birthday, Kira closed his eyes as a tears fell from them he quickly wiped them away "What wrong?" Lacus said placing a hand on his shoulder "Emily grew up so fast, it feels like yesterday she was still my little baby" Kira closed the book and moved it to the side as he placed his hands onto his eyes wiping the tears away "You know, you missed our first baby's first moments in this world. You missed everything we can never experience having our first ever again it's all just memory now"
"It's okay" Lacus said hugging him from behind, he placed her head on his shoulder "I may have missed our Emily's first moments, but we're together again right and now we get to prepare for our third that's coming soon; and when that time comes we'll do it together" Kira nodded "Yeah" he turned around facing Lacus "Thank you for giving us the opportunity" Lacus shook her head "No, thank you for forgiving me" they leaned in and shared a passionate kiss, they slowly leaned down until Lacus laid on the bed. Kira slowly pulled away "I guess we're going to do it again?" Lacus giggled "Might as well" she gently grabbed Kira's head and pulled it into another passionate kiss.
