Epilogue:
Brand New World
"This is such a strange item," Heidi said, using the remote to change through the TV channels, "All these images, moving! I was told about TV, but…wow, it is weirder up close!"
Diesel made a noise in the back of his throat and grabbed the remote from Heidi, who made a noise of protest, but it died when Diesel passed her the bowl of popcorn. He turned to a news channel and said, "So, you've been in civilization for about 4 months, how do you like it so far, Heidi?"
"I enjoy it very much," Heidi said, her eyes never leaving the TV and she was shoveling popcorn into her mouth, "I really like the bed too, they are so soft and warm, and they're even better when you're in them with me. And bathrooms, water that flows from out of nowhere, it's so crazy, and…and contraptions that make food for you!"
Diesel chuckled and let Heidi curl up beside him, chattering about this strange world. It had been an interesting couple of months and it had all started the day they left the triangle. Heidi had been so terrified that it took the group hours to coax her past the rock, but when they did and when she didn't melt away, she had giggled and jumped around, walking in and out of the triangle until the triangle got mad at her and then booted her out, though a fairy had appeared and told Heidi that she could come back, but not to just walk in and out of the triangle because she could.
After that the fun part started. Heidi had spent 3 centuries in a forest, Diesel thought it best if she was slowly introduced into the 21st century. He rented out a house in a forest, so she could feel comfortable, being in an area that she had known, yet being introduced to the modern world. It seemed that all the gifts she had in the triangle came with her and so Diesel got her a kitten. It was pretty cute to hear Heidi make little cat noises as she held conversations with the kitten.
There were bad parts too, like the first doctor visit. Carlos had told Diesel to get Bobby to check Heidi out. He was a close friend and can keep quiet about Heidi. At first Heidi had been excited about the visit, but then Bobby had to immunize her and the fun part ended and Diesel had to hold Heidi down so she could get several shots, or else she would have caused more damage. The surreal moment of Bobby's visit was when he heard he confirmed that Heidi was truly pregnant, and by the end of the first trimester, they could listen to the baby's heartbeat.
They couple never told anyone what happened at the top of the mountain. What they told the group was that they had been some kind of explosion and then they had woken up in the rubble. They took that story. What had truly happened was that the two demons had hit Heidi at the same time, with both spells or energy balls or whatever, and it had caused time to stop, just for a second, but it did cause a huge explosion destroyed the top of the mountain. The only reason why Heidi and Diesel lived was because of their bond, and connection they had. Heidi's sacrifice or attempted sacrifice had been their savior. Rose had told them both was that Diesel didn't claim Heidi, Heidi choose Diesel to bond with, that made a difference because it was a bond forge with trust and love, not by force. Heidi hadn't been forced to sacrifice to herself, she had done it willingly and with love, and because of that it triggered her hidden potential the ability to make sure that neither her or her master could fall into harm. That meant anything that could harm them wouldn't.
Not even death, and that was freaky.
"The evil demon created the Marked Doll with the intent to carry his seed and also, he created the Marked doll to be a vessel in which magic was attracted to," Rose said to the couple, "Unknowingly, Marked Doll, You are a reserve of power and magic, 300 years in a mighty powerful place, you're powerful than 30 Diesels, if you can tap into the power, but you cannot, only your Master can, you two can take over the world if you wanted to.
Though the question was would they take over the world? No, they wouldn't. Diesel wanted to enjoy his time with his wife, yes his wife, the first month out of the triangle, Heidi and Diesel had a small private wedding in the woods, and when he meant small and private, only Stephanie and Carlos were human witnesses, the rest were all the animals Heidi had become friends with. He would have to take Heidi to zoo one day, she'd have a blast.
Diesel heard Heidi scream loudly and jump off the couch as his cell phone went off. Diesel turned to Heidi, give her a smile and flick her nose cutely and answer his phone with a happy, "Carlos, Stephanie you scared Heidi half to death!"
"Sorry Heidi," Stephanie's voice said making Heidi give Diesel's phone a look, "How have you been?"
"Stephanie's in that little box again, Diesel," Heidi said with awe, "Get her out of it!"
"It's the phone, Heidi, we've had this discussion," Diesel said with a smile, helping Heidi up, "So, what can we do for you?"
"Well, we're calling to tell you that we're finally going on our vacation away from our honeymoon, Paris," Carlos said earning a chuckle from Diesel, "We'll be going away for a while, might do a tour of Europe, are there any triangles we should worry about?"
"There is one up in the Alps," Heidi said with a smile, "But it's so tiny…don't worry it's not that bad."
"How do you know where all these triangles are?" Stephanie asked, making Heidi sit up, "You haven't been anywhere but the Triangle."
"I don't know, I just know," Heidi said with a shrug, "Maybe it's because I 've been in one, that I know where the others are, who knows."
"Well, we're coming over tonight to say goodbye, so, Diesel, you have to make us Dinner," Stephanie said earning a groan from the man, "We want steaks."
"Whatever," Diesel said before got up and walked over to the kitchen, "I'll see you two soon, goodbye."
Diesel hung his phone up and then looked over to Heidi, who was suddenly quiet, looking outside the window, "Hey, Heidi, what's on your mind?"
"Leonard…he would have loved this time," Heidi said softly, looking over to Diesel, "Diesel…I miss him…"
"I know you do," Diesel said, going over to Heidi and crouching in front of her, "Hey, sweetheart, it's alright, I want you to miss him, I want you to remember him, he was the first one to save you from the Cult and he kept you protected for 300 years, he's watching over you now, and the pain you're feeling is normal."
Heidi placed a hand on her baby bump and said, "Yes…you're right, of course, now, let's prepare dinner, yes, on that big box that creates food."
"Now Heidi, it's a stove, and it doesn't create food, you cook it!"
(~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~)
"She's beautiful," Stephanie cooed, as Diesel held a purple bundle close to his chest, "Oh my god, Carlos, look at those eyes, they're so blue."
Carlos clapped Diesel on his back and he said, "You're right, Babe, she's beautiful. Congrats, Diesel."
Diesel smiled, looking over to Heidi, who lay fast asleep in their bed, tired. He looked down at the purple bundle in his arms and smiled. There in his arms was his child, his daughter, just born 3 hours ago. She was so little, he could cup her in both hands and she would still have wiggle room. She was pretty thing, with skin the color of her mother's, a head full of black curly hair and, like Stephanie said, a pair of the prettiest blue eyes he had ever seen. She was a silent thing, content to lie in her father's arms and look up at him with unfocused eyes.
"It's kind of weird," Diesel said softly, looking up at the couple, "You know, I'm a father now, me, a dad, it's like the world has gotten so much tinier and the only occupants in it are Heidi and my child."
"Yeah, soon, Carlos is going to feel like that too," Stephanie said, looking down at the baby, before looking up at her husband, who made a sound in his throat.
"Babe?" Carlos asked weakly, earning a pretty smile from his wife, "Stephanie?"
"I'm two months pregnant," Stephanie said with a smile, watching Carlos's face light up, "I spoke to Bobby last week and I went to an obstetrician yesterday, "I'm 10 weeks along, and she says, by the echoing effect she heard during the ultra sound, it may be twins. Can you believe, twins? Aren't you…Carlos, Carlos, you're turning pale Carlos!"
"We have a fainter," Diesel commented lightly, as Carlos's eyes rolled up into the back of his head and he fell like a log, "Jeez, he can handle terrorist and drug lords, but he finds out that his wife might be pregnant with twins and faints, what a wimp."
"Diesel?" Heidi's sleep filled voice caught his ear, "Diesel…where's the baby?"
Diesel turned in his chair to see Heidi blinking her sleep filled eyes and sitting up in the bed. They chose to have a home birth, with a midwife, since Heidi had a fear of hospital, since she was in one a few months back due to an illness. The doctors and nurses had gawked at her marked back and Diesel had cursed himself for not taking her to the hospital for other living beings, that trip left Heidi scarred for life.
"Here she is," Diesel said, getting up and going over to Heidi, while Stephanie fanned Carlos awake, "She's beautiful, just like her mother."
Heidi held her arms out and took the baby into her arms. Heidi smiled brightly down at her child and said, "Beautiful, perfect, she is just what I imagined she would be. And in a few months, we'll take her to see Rose, she is very excited about meeting our first born."
Heidi leaned down and inhaled the baby's scent, smiling brightly again. She looked up at Diesel and said, "Diesel…I've decided on a name, I'll name her; Samantha Leonardo Maxim."
"That's a distinguish name for her," Stephanie said as Carlos lifted himself up off the ground, "She's going to go far in life. She'll be attracting boys left and right, Diesel, I hope you're prepared for it"
Diesel felt his eyebrow twitch and he said, "Never, I use to be one of those dogs, I'll never let them near my Princess."
"Twins?" Carlos asked, looking over to Stephanie, who nodded her head, "I feel faint, again…"
Heidi gave them all confused looks and asked, "What is going on?"
"Nothing, Heidi, it's just Carlos is a bit light-headed about the fact that he'll be a father." Stephanie said, watching Heidi smile and gasp.
"Oh goody! Congratulations!" Heidi said with a smile, looking at the couple, "I can see it now, Carlos playing games with his sons."
"Sons?" Carlos asked weakly, looking at Heidi, who blinked and nodded her head.
"Yes, after all Stephanie is carrying twin boys. I can see it, you know, gifts and all"
"Uh oh, he's going to faint again…"
