A much shorter chapter then usual. BUT DON"T WORRY THE NEXT ONE WILL BE EXTRA EXCITING TO MAKE UP FOR IT.

Chapter 14

Garen left Lux's room feeling anxious over the promise he had made. It ate away at his sense of justice and he wanted to redact his promise but he pushed those thoughts away.

"I'll gladly stomach this burden if it can ease her mind, she deserves that much." Garen thought to himself.

Lux was unable to leave the hospital as the doctors there wanted to keep her for observation so Garen went to his room alone.

He lay in the bed thinking over what Lux had said to him.

"I needed you."

"What could I have done? If I obey Demacia I leave you, if I disobey they exile me at best and I leave you. Did you want me to run away with you? What type of lives would we lead? I was barely a teenager and you were still a child. We had no skills, no money and no connections. Was that what I should have done? Run away from Demacia so we could starve? be eaten by animals? or worse? I did the what made the most sense. I can't fault myself for that."

"I needed you."

"Then why do I feel so guilty? Every one had to fall in line, it was for the good of Demacia. We aren't the first family to be broken apart because of duty and we sure as hell won't be the last. Why couldn't you understand that? Why couldn't you accept that?"

"Demacia has thousands of soldiers... only one brother."

He rolled onto his side.

"Damn it" He thought.

Garen could not sleep that night and when the sun rose he had dark bags under his eyes.

He rolled out of bed and took a shower to try and freshen up. He got dressed and left his room.

"Maybe Katarina would have some answers." He thought to himself.

He went to her room and knocked on the door.

Katarina opened the door and said.

"Wow you look like shit."

Garen grumbled as she let him in.

He sat in a familiar chair when he noticed that Katarina's room was remarkably empty. The clutter that occupied most of her room was gone and what remained was the bare boned necessities the institute provided.

"What happened to all your stuff." Garen asked.

"Oh I'm gonna move to a bigger room with my sister, anyway whats wrong?"

Garen explained what happened since he last saw her and what he was feeling currently.

"Garen, there is no easy way out of this. You had to compromise who you were to make amends. From what you told me there was really no way around it." Katarina said.

"So there is no way to get rid of this feeling?" Garen asked.

"Well there is, you can undo your relationship with Lux. But other than that no."

Garen sighed.

"I know it's difficult but it's better than the alternative."

"Why do things have to be so difficult?"

"That's a question people have been asking for a long time."

"Katarina... thanks. Really thank you, you helped me out when I needed it most and for that I can never repay you."

Katarina had a sad smile one her face.

"Goodbye Garen." Katarina said before giving him a kiss on the cheek.

Katarina left the room and Garen sat there in the barren room confused.

The next day

Garen woke up to loud knocking sounds on his door. He looked out the window and saw the sun wasn't up yet.

He got out of his bed and angrily walked to his door.

"Whoever this is better have a damn good reason for waking me up." Garen thought.

He opened the door and saw a Demacian soldier standing there.

"Captain I have urgent news. Noxus has declared war on Ionia."
