Okay! One thing I'd like to point out is that this chapter has no title before it like usual. It has a name, just not all big like the others. The main reason is that these are random chapters. Not a continuing arc. When we launch the next, and final Arc we will go back to it. But for now they're not going to be there. I hope you enjoy this.

"Thank you Vani." Kairi said sweetly, she and Vanitas were in the mall shopping, he growled at her use of the stupid pet name.

"Shut it Princess. I'm only here because Xion has work, and the others are fucking annoying." Vanitas told her. That was his excuse. The reality was that he wanted to make sure Kairi was safe, she was a Princess, and she used to be his Princess. But that was long ago.

"Suuuuuuuuure." Kairi drew the word out, Vanitas glared at her as they walked into a clothing store.

"Shut the fuck up Princess." He ordered, Kairi sighed. She went to look at some clothes on a nearby rack, Vanitas trailed after her.

"Hmm. What do you think?" She asked, holding a purple shirt in front of her, he gave her a bored look and shrugged.

"I don't care. I'm only here to accompany you, not help you shop." He informed her, she shrugged, and put the shirt back, looking through the clothes again. Vanitas was already irritated beyond belief. "God dammit can you just hurry the fuck up already?" Vanitas demanded, Kairi giggled.

"You agreed to come. From past experience you should have realized that it would take a while." Kairi told him, he glared at her. It was true, they had been together for a while. In all honesty as much as she loved Sora, she did miss Vanitas from time to time.

She enjoyed how independent Vanitas was, sometimes Sora just suffocated her with affection, while Vanitas would never give her enough when she wanted it, but he was more prone to random acts, Sora surprisingly didn't do much without Kairi's direct consent, but Vanitas didn't seem to care if she wanted whatever he gave her.

Vanitas on the other hand missed Kairi from time to time, she seemed to actually enjoy his company more than Xion did. Xion seemed to expect certain things from their relationship, whereas Kairi just went with the flow. Maybe he could convince her to take him back… No, he did love Xion, but Kairi was a missed source of comfort. One of the reasons he agreed to come with her today.

"I know Princess. By the way, why didn't you take the idiot with you?" Vanitas asked, Kairi laughed, she knew who he meant.

"Sora doesn't have the attention span for shopping, he would always go off and eat at the food court, or play the games." Kairi told him, he shook his head.

"That's true I suppose. He's only good for clearing out heartless, and even that's when I am out of commission." Vanitas told her, she laughed. That was true, Vanitas was the best Key-Wielder on the island. Despite Terra usually acting as the leader. Vanitas used Darkness to help him succeed. No one but Ven could match his speed in battle, only Terra could match his strength, and only Aqua could match his magical ability.

Beyond his fellow Wielders he was out classed by several people. Tifa was ahead of his strength, as well as Cloud. And no one could hope to match Aerith as a magic user. Yuffie was slightly faster than him on her best day, usually only Tifa could out class him in that regard. Though their differences were becoming slimmer as he became older, and used darkness more prominently.

"Vani?" Kairi asked the raven haired teen, who had spaced out, he glared at her. She knew he hated that name but she was the one who had originally called him that. He let her use it more than anyone else. He didn't even like Xion to use it, but he surprisingly gave Kairi a pass more often than not.

"Princess!" Vanitas yelled in response, startling several people in the store, Kairi gave him a look. It was a look she commonly used on Sora whenever he did something out of line, he usually behaved after that because of the intensity of emotion she placed behind it. Vanitas, however was not phased.

"What do you think?" She asked him, referring to the skirt she was holding, he shrugged.

"I don't know. Or care, why?" Vanitas demanded, Kairi rolled her eyes.

"I need an opinion besides my own!" Kairi told him, he just shrugged. He didn't care either way. "You are impossible!" She exclaimed, he laughed with a little bit of irony. Back when they first became friends she used to always say that about him. Those were the best memories she had of the islands. If she was being honest with herself.

"Princess, you've got that look. That distant sad look you only get when you're thinking about the islands." He said, leaning in, like he always did. He invaded your personal space whenever he was trying to convince, or manipulate you in some way. "Why?" He asked in a sickeningly sweet voice.

"I was thinking of all the time we used to spend together!" Kairi piped up, blushing furiously, it wasn't like she was attracted to him. She was just nervous, and embarrassed. He had that effect on her, among other people. When he just bore into you with those golden orbs of his, it felt like you were under the intense beam of a spotlight. He had the eyes of a hawk. He noticed every little thing. He knew that Kairi had 32 freckles on her face. Because he had nothing better to do during all the close times they shared.

"The Best Memories, huh?" Vanitas teased her, she blushed further.

"Yes!" Kairi exclaimed, before realizing that it was exactly what he wanted, and was expecting to hear from her. Damn him. "I mean… No, it's just that I miss the old times." She tried to cover it up, but it didn't work, she never was good at hiding what she was feeling. Vanitas could always read her like a book. He would tell you that the book was short, and not the best he had ever read. That the writing was horrid, and the grammar was terrible. But that was just to make his little Princess mad.

Destiny Islands, 3 years ago. Vanitas' P.O.V.

The little Princess was always so late. I don't know why I put up with her sometimes. I guess that Love makes you do stupid things. But was it really love? This feeling was completely new to me. I mean, yes. I did love my family I guess, but this was different, it had a different feel to it.

I walked away from the window and into the kitchen, where my mom, Stella was cooking some food. She wasn't home most days, and nights because of her job as principal of Destiny High. She turned her head to smile at me, she was always so friendly. I got my black hair from my father, Noctis, that much was certain, but I didn't know how me or the Idiot didn't end up with Blonde hair, considering my mother's hair color.

"Hey, Vanitas. Have you seen Sora around?" She asked me, he had gone over to that faggots house.

"He's at faggot's place." I told her, she glared at me. She didn't like me using profane language, but did I truly care? Not really. She may have been my mom, but I bow to no one. She never forced me to stop using foul language. I just used it freely, but I would never insult her directly.

"You really shouldn't refer to Riku like that. It's very offensive Vanitas. I could always ground you, and mess up your entire date with your 'Princess'" She told me with a slight giggle at the end of her sentence. I glared at her. She could be a real heartless bitch at times. And that was coming from me.

"But, I hate him." I told her simply. It was true that I hated him. He had been dating Xion off and on for a few years now, considering she was my… best friend. I had never like admitting how close I was to people. Closeness is ultimately a weakness, people just get in the way of your real goals. But Kairi was… Different, she didn't pester me, she just stayed out of the way. That's why I preferred her company.

"Hate is a bad thing to harbor in your Heart, Van." She told me, I rolled my eyes. It was a bad thing for them to have, since they always used Light. But Darkness was fueled by such things. It was not inherently evil as most people would believe, it just fed off of negative emotions and feelings. But it could be used for good. Like I used it for. I used Darkness regularly, and I'm just fine.

The doorbell rang next thing I knew, and I already knew who it was. I told her to just come into the house. I mean, I do it with her house when I go over. I don't ask to be let in. And if the door's locked, I just go to her window and climb in. She didn't really seem to care after the first few times, just surprised.

I walked through the house and answered the door, to see Princess standing there with a big smile on her face, hair like it always was. Straight and to her shoulders. She used to wear it shorter, which was a style that Xion now adopted. I prefer her with longer hair, it seemed to suit Kairi better. Maybe Xion would look like that too, but then again Yuffie also kept her hair shorter.

Princess was wearing a swimsuit, it was pink with paupu fruits on it. She had a towel wrapped around her neck, and she had a sweet smile on her face. I smirked at her, she looked really happy to see me. Like she always did.

"Hey, Vani." She greeted me, I rolled my eyes. Vani. She was the only person I had allowed to use that name. I didn't like it, and it annoyed me to no end, but with her, I simply ignored it most of the time she used it, unless I was having a particularly bad day, or she had annoyed me in the hours before. Usually she could only say it when we first met up, because she would quickly annoy me in some way after that. I was particular.

"Princess." I said, smirking, as I shoved my hand in my pocket, purposefully stretching a bit, she looked down and took in my muscular frame I had built up from training. I didn't know how Tifa was as strong as she was without looking like a freak of nature. She was teaching me currently in terms of strength. Aerith was teaching me all about the different magic's. She didn't seem to approve of my use of Darkness, but regardless she taught me.

Princess blushed, and stammered, luckily for her my mother came up next to me. She was always trying to save her. It was a futile effort, but it didn't go unnoticed from Kairi, and considering she was third in school rankings, behind me, and Aqua in terms of GPA, and Test Scores, and she was dating me. They interacted frequently.

It's not like I used my connection to the principal for good grades. Don't get me wrong, it had its perks, but I was actually just that smart. The perks being of course scaring all those stupid Freshmen. They couldn't even stand up against me or I'd threaten to have them expelled. Sadly I couldn't actually pull through, but it got them to leave me alone, so everything worked out best for me. Like it always does.

I focused back on Princess. She was talking to my mother. I had tuned out their conversation entirely. When I started paying attention I realized they were talking about college plans. Kairi wanted to be a lawyer. I told her that She was too good of a person for that, and she told me that She wasn't that good. That was right before we started dating. Almost as if she was trying to prove something to me.

"Come on, we've got an appointment. Later." I said to my mom, interrupting their conversation and dragging Kairi away. She happily went with me. Most of the time she had a cheerful smile. It seemed to... Brighten whenever I was near. Not like I noticed.

Hollywood Arts, Mall, Present Day. Normal P.O.V.

"Vani?" Kairi asked, waving a hand in front of his face. He shook his head, and glared at her quickly, growling at her.

"What?" He snapped at her, she rolled her eyes and smirked at him.

"You spaced out. I thought you never did that." Kairi teased him, he shook his head.

"Fuck off Princess." He told her in finality. She smiled at him and looked at some more clothes.

"Hey, it's Kai, and Van! What's up guys?" André asked, Vanitas glared at him, Kairi smiled and hugged him with one arm. She was always more friendly that most people.

"I'm shopping. What are you doing here?" Kairi asked him, he smirked at her.

"Tori is going to be doing this show soon, so she brought me along to help her look for a nice outfit. She says I'm fashionable." He boasted to them good naturedly, Kairi smiled at him.

"I could see that. Where is she now?" Kairi asked, André pointed towards the dressing room. Just as Tori came out in a low cut shirt. It was dark blue, and she was wearing a white skirt. She examined herself. Vanitas, and André's eyes widened.

"Damn." Was all Vanitas said, Kairi rolled her eyes.

"I know right." André responded, Kairi shook her head.

"Men, I swear..." Kairi muttered as Tori walked over to them.

"Hey! Vanitas, hey Kairi!" Tori greeted them, Kairi smiled at the girl, and hugged her. After they broke apart Vanitas hugged her also. Tori laughed as Vanitas walked back a bit.

"Hey Tori. You look hot." Vanitas told her, Tori blushed at him, and moved some hair from her face.

"Thanks." Tori told him simply. "I came to ask your opinion on my outfit, and I guess I got it. I'm gonna go change back. I'm definitely wearing this for the show." Tori said, before walking off. Vanitas smiled at her. He had made plans to go with her to Bo Burnham's comedy show in a few days.

Tori had needed someone to go with, and wanted to spend some more time with Vanitas. When they were alone he proved to be one of her closest friends. Despite his outward distaste for most things, and people. He and Tori got along rather well.

As Tori walked back, Vanitas smiled at her retreating figure, until Kairi hit him, and he glared at her. She was the only one besides Aqua, and Xion who didn't back down from his glares, something she expressed quite frequently.

"What Princess?" He asked her, she rolled her eyes.

"Stop staring after her. You have a girlfriend. Xion, remember her?" Kairi asked, Vanitas made a so-so motion. André laughed and Kairi shook her head. "Vanitas!"

"What? Jeez you make it sound like you're my Girlfriend!" He exclaimed, Kairi glared at him, before her anger withered away, and she sighed.

"I was just saying. Can we go now? I'm done shopping, you were spaced out half the time." Kairi told him, leaving the store. He waved to André and left with the red haired girl. Once they were out of the mall they walked down the street. Kairi hummed for a moment.

Destiny Islands, 3 years ago. Kairi's P.O.V.

I watched him carefully. He was dangerous, he was a rebel. He was someone that most people were too afraid to talk to, and yet... Here he was. Walking next to me with a calm, almost smile on his face. I wondered how he could make the transition from being a mean person to most people, and then be more gentle and sweet with me.

It was baffling, it shouldn't happen this way. I didn't have a bad boy fetish, not at all. But there was something about Vanitas that attracted me to him. Not physically, it was deeper. There was a certain honesty in him that I hadn't found anywhere else. He didn't lie to you to spare your feelings. He was honest about his thoughts. He would call you out on your faults.

That was one of the reasons. He was truthful. Most people were hiding something, out of shame, or fear. I don't know, but not Vanitas. He hid things sure, but only what everyone hides. Everyone has a way they act when they're alone, that was the only thing I hadn't seen. Until last night. I saw the real him.

He didn't help me Because he had to. Because we were dating. He helped me Because he wanted me to feel better. He helped me Because he knew what I wanted. He was the smartest kid in school. He could have any job he wanted. Yet he told me that He didn't care about any of it. He just wanted to travel the world's and see what was out there, help them out.

That was the real Vanitas. It was one of the reasons I loved him so much. Wait... Is it love? I mean, sure we were dating, but is that really what this feeling was. These butterflies in my stomach? It has to be, what other explanation was there? But, how did I tell him this? What if he didn't feel the same way?

I would be so embarrassed. He would probably break up with me. I couldn't do that. I... Loved him too much. I glanced over at him, smirked. He asked me what was wrong, and I replied with a smooth nothing. He hummed and b looked away, before his eyes narrowed and the golden orbs zeroed in on my own hues.

"Why are you lying?" He questioned me harshly, I widened my eyes and stammered as he glared. If there was one thing I knew that Vanitas hated it was lying. This was bad. I had one way out, and that was worse possibly.

"What?" I squeaked out rather pathetically, he shook his head and lead me into an alley. He often did this so we could talk, or kiss in private. He was never angry, and as much as I trusted him, the situation in, and of itself scared me.

"Kai, why did you lie?" He growled out in a low voice. I could hear the anger, but there was something else underneath it. Buried behind it. Between the truth of what he was feeling, and the lie I told him. It was disappointment.

"Because I love you." I whispered, before clamping a hand over my mouth. This was not what he was expecting to hear because his eyes widened and he blinked a few times. His face went from angry to blank. A mask, Roxas had that same mask that He would put on. When he wanted to lock people out, but Vanitas used it differently. He used it to show he was genuinely puzzled on how to respond.

"Really?" He asked, and my eyes snapped to him. He seemed to have the smallest hint of a smile on his face. It made me blush terribly. He got closer, and wrapped me in a tight hug. His breath beating against my ear. It made me shiver. "Because, I love you too Kairi." He told me, and I almost died. I should have died.

"Really?" I asked him for confirmation, he chuckled and pulled away just enough so he could give me a condescending look. He messed up my hair. He always reminded me that I was shorter than him. He always found a way to demonstrate that He was in control of our relationship.

"Of course I do Princess, what? You expected me to break up with you?" He taunted me. He knew the answer. Xion and Riku had broken up over that recently. Apparently Riku felt more strongly for her. Xion had told him that she fell out of Love with him. Most people didn't know, but that's what Riku told me.

"Kind of..." I muttered. He chuckled, and kissed my forehead. He could also be really sweet at times. He was almost perfect for me. But recently, spending more and more time with Sora, he started to become bigger in my life. He was nice, but almost too nice for my taste. I like how Vanitas acted. We understood, and trusted each other.

Well I trusted him enough to let him in my house anytime he wanted. And he trusted me enough to let me in to his life, and try and help him on a more personal note. Together they could help each other through tough times. No matter what they really were to each other. Of they were friends, they would help. If they were more than that, or less than that they would help. It was all about teamwork. A companion. They could be that person to each other.

Hollywood Arts, Hotel. Present Day. Normal P.O.V.

"Get back here you little dick!" Lea yelled chasing Ven around the coffee table. Ven was laughing at him. Aqua was making dinner with Olette, and Sora. Naminé was working at the Art Shop, Yuffie was with her and Aerith. Roxas was watching tv with Xion, and Riku. Terra and Leon were training somewhere. Vanitas and Kairi had just gotten back.

"Sora, be careful not to put too much salt on that." Aqua reminded him, he nodded, and began doing what she told him to.

"I don't understand why she is being such a bitch about it." Xion sounded her opinion on the show they were watching.

"People get scared I'm guessing. Maybe she feels threatened because the game she was playing with the anonymity of the internet has faded away." Riku suggested, Roxas shrugged.

"Maybe, or she could just be a terrible person." Roxas suggested with a smile, Xion nodded.

"I like that theory more." Xion told him, Riku rolled his eyes, and frowned.

"Of course you do." He muttered, Xion smiled at him.

"Yours is smart sure, but some people are just cunts about their existence." Xion told him, he shook his head with a smirk.

"Vanitas is rubbing off on you to much." He told her light heartedly. Xion laughed. If only Riku knew how close She and Vanitas had gotten on a regular basis. She and Riku had never gotten that close, Riku had tried to initiate that closeness to their relationship, but Xion wasn't ready. That was the night that she broke up with Riku for good, and started dating Vanitas.

"Princess, I swear. One more word, and that is the last time we go shopping together." Vanitas told her walking into the room, Kairi whined at him, and Lea chuckled.

"Cute little Vani-Wani, going shopping with Kai-Bear, so cute!" Lea mocked them, earning a death glare from both teens protesting the nicknames. Lea just laughed at them as they settled into the living room.

"How was shopping?" Xion asked as Vanitas settled into the couch next to her. He wrapped an arm around her and pulled her close. She smiled up at him and kissed him. Riku had to look away, He didn't like to see affection when it wasn't coming from him. It freaked him out.

"Annoying. Well, except when Tori came, she was shopping for that show were going to." Vanitas told her, in a calm voice, She hummed. She thought that Tori was a nice girl, but she didn't know her too much.

Xion liked her though, Tori seemed like the kind of girl who attracted a lot of attention. Whether it be from her looks, personality, or performance skill. Xion was kind of jealous of her, but Xion also had something Tori didn't. She had Vanitas.
