Author's Note– Jesus, it's been so fucking long since I've updated this. I sincerely apologize to each and every one of you fans, passerbyers and just everyone who has at least once looked at this story. I didn't mean to take this long to update – and I was a total dick too, leaving you guys on a cliff hanger. I hope you guys can understand that I went through some issues and wasn't in the mood to write. Then, I spent some time for myself focusing on my own personal writings.

I hope to one day be an Author actually, and I can't become famous writing Smutt all day (I wish though lol). I actually entered a few contests and actually won one for a game I play. The prize wasn't money or anything but actually a rare exclusive doll. In-between all that craziness, I've been dealing with my own personal demons, family struggles and work. I actually got hired on as a full-time cook forever and let me tell you, they work me every day of the week and then some. I also can't help but love my job – it's kinda taken over my life to a certain point. Whenever I'm not at work the other half of my life is taken over by my family and my boyfriend of 2 and a half years.

Whenever I get free time, 90% of the time, it's headed over to my family and boyfriend – after I'm done visiting them, I'm left with maybe an hour or 2 to myself before I had to head to bed and start the day all over again. I also haven't seen my Aunt, who's like a mother to me, in over a month and recently just saw her again. After talking to her and what not, she gave me some nice advice to start taking more time for myself and It was hard to listen to at first.

I felt so guilty 'ditching' my boyfriend and my family – but I eventually snagged a few days to myself here and there and now I finally have time to spend time on myself and now always be so high-strung about what I'm doing and I can just relax. I

I feel really awful as well because I love writing so much (despite having times where I don't but that's due to my depression and that's another story for another day). I hope you all realize that unfortunately I got very busy with my life and I was a shitty author and didn't let you guys know. I hope you guys can understand and I hope you all please accept my apology. I hope this chapter is something you all enjoy and I hope to get back into writing. Even if it's just an update here and there, I'll take it. This was too long of a break and definitely wasn't fair to you guys.

Please forgive me. I hope you all enjoy this chapter and have a lovely day! Thank you in advance for understanding. Also, sorry for the long ass Author's note!

Chapter 14 – It's Complicated

Green stood in horror as Jesse and James kept talking on the phone with Red. He didn't know what to think. He didn't know what to feel – he was downright confused. He slinked back against the stone wall and held his breath. This had to be a dream. No way in hell was Red working for Team Rocket – for fucks sakes, Red would never be those two idiots boss even if his life depended on it. Green straightened back up and looked over the boxes he was hiding behind. Jesse and James were finally off the phone with Red and started to walk down towards the alley Green was hiding in.

Green started to panic internally. They knew who he was – he handed them their asses on silver platters multiple times and made sure he boasted about who he was to them before they went 'blasting off'. If they saw him he'd be done for – or would he be? Now that they were apparently working for Red he suddenly had a thought.

What in the fuck happened while he was in jail for five years?

He was tempted to jump out from where he was hiding and flood them with question after question – he needed answers now! At the same time though, he just wasn't sure what to think with them calling Red their boss and wearing Team Rocket shirts. Shirts looking that new clearly meant they were still in Team Rocket and he couldn't believe that Red was their boss. Green gasped. He shook his head. It couldn't be true. He screamed to himself and shook his head again in instant shock and fear. It was all clicking together in his head and he suddenly knew the answer to all of his questions.

Red was apart of Team Rocket.

Green could have shit himself and went blind with this sudden relation. He couldn't believe how long it took him to put it together. Red was never keen on talking to work and going to the company work party earlier in the year with him was odd as Red never said much about anyone working there – Red made sure to embarrass him so that Green wouldn't be asking questions that didn't need asked. Green was in such a tizzy. He wanted to call for Maria and tell her to run to his grandfather's home and tell him about Red but he felt his breath go and like that he passed out.

(POV Change: Maria)

Maria was all for playing games like hide and seek. She loved them – but her stomach was demanding food now and was calling for playtime later. Maria had been waiting a good ten minutes since Green told her to stay there and wait for him to deal with those punks. Maria wanted to go over and see what exactly Green was up too but at the same time she was scared. Green had said he was going to go deal with some 'punks'. Maria wasn't the smartest girl around but she knew damn well punks weren't something she could just run over and deal with.

She was only thirteen years old and she was sure that these punks were much older than her and definitely could kick her ass. Maria reached into her pocketbook and rummaged for her purse. She had two options of people to call. She could call Red and have him here to help Green or Dylan, her favorite baker. Maria thought about it and then decided that it'd probably be best to call them both down. She flipped opened her cell-phone and called Dylan. The phone rang a few times and Maria was about to give up when she heard a click. She held her breath a bit and listened to Dylan's groggy voice.

"...Hello, this is Simisear's Bakery... how can I help you this late at night?" Dylan spelled out, tired and unamused by this phone call. Maria was nervous to talk but she forced her breath out and spoke.

"Mr. Dylan, it's me, Maria. Mr. Green was walking to down to the store so we could pick up something for dinner but he ended up seeing these bad guys and went to go deal with them. It's been over ten minutes and he's still not back. I'm really scared, Mr. Dylan, " Maria cried out as tears started to stream down her face. It had been a while since she had ever met someone as kind and caring as Mr. Green. She only really knew him for a little bit along with Mr. Red but she wasn't in the mood to lose them – they were too special to her.

Ever since she had lost her parents, she'd been on her own. It wasn't by her choice either. She had been forced to lose her parents by those damn companies that couldn't give a rats ass about people's safety. There were days Maria just wanted to die so she could finally see her parents and join them in the afterlife – he didn't have anything to live for and she certainly had no one to see. If she were to have died, no one would miss her.

But then she met Mr. Green. He cared about her. He'd visit every once in a while and check up on her and she appreciated his visits. He'd make her laugh and smile and she'd always be sad when he left. Everyone that would go to her store would just get what they need, try their best to avoid small talk and get out of the store as soon as possible. Mr. Green wasn't like that – and Maria wasn't about to let him just disappear out of her life over some dumb ass punks.

"Can you come down here by the Pokemon center, Mr. Dylan?" Maria asked. There was silence and then a small chuckle escaped Dylan's lips.

"Jeez, can't even get a nice night of sleep without Green going and getting in trouble. I'm actually not going to be able to to come get you right away. Did you call Red yet?" Dylan asked, sounding a bit more awake. Maria took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves.

"No, I haven't yet. I decided to call you first because your name comes up first on my phone. I was planning on call both of you, " Maria whispered, trying to keep her nerves in check and hold her fear in. She felt a bit silly getting this worried and protective of Mr. Green but at the same time she was so afraid she wouldn't see him again. Dylan sighed.

"Alright, make sure to call him as soon as we get off the phone together, okay? We don't need something happening to you. Now, Maria, march your butt into the Pokemon Center. We don't need you getting kidnapped or something," Dylan mumbled out, as he got dressed. Maria quietly did what she was told, making haste to get inside the Pokemon Center. She just wanted Mr. Green to be okay.

"I'll be heading out the door as soon as I can so I'll see you there. Call Red now, okay? If anything happens, call me and let me know," Dylan rushed out, hanging up the phone quickly. Maria didn't even get to say goodbye – but that was okay because she'd see him in just a few short minutes.

Maria sighed and looked through her phone for Red's number. It took her a few minutes to find it because she forgot that she put Red's name in as 'Daddy #2'. She slightly chuckled to herself over that and then dialed the number. He didn't answer the first time. Maria got nervous and redialed the number and this time he picked up right away.

"Hello, this is Red, how can I help you?" Mr. Red chimed out without missing a beat. Maria felt a bit teary-eyed. She didn't wanna tell him that Mr. Green was missing – she didn't wanna make him upset. At the same time though, Green needed to be found sooner rather than later and she knew that they'd have a better chance at finding him with more people to look for him.

"Mr. Red, it's me, Maria. Mr. Green is missing and I'm at the Pokemon center. I called Mr. Dylan and he'll be here when he can-" was all Maria got out before she was interrupted.

"What? What do you mean he's gone missing? He's twenty-six years old! He just doesn't get lost! What was he doing, Maria?!" Red hollered out. Maria winced. She knew he wasn't mad at her as she had no control over what happened. Green was the one who told her that she needed to stay back and wait for him. She was silently kicking herself for not putting up a bigger fight and telling him to ignore those stupid punks.

"There was a bunch of punks apparently and Mr. Green said he'd take care of them and it's been over ten minutes since he left. I'm scared, Mr. Red! I didn't mean for this to happen, I should have been more stubborn and told him no way!" Maria cried out. She was super worried about Green and didn't know what to think. She was scared he was injured or even worse.

"Maria, relax. He's an adult and he knows he now has a lovely daughter named Maria he has to care of. I don't know what exactly he was thinking or smoking that makes you think it's okay to ditch your newly adopted daughter to go fight a bunch of punks but we can ask him that later. I'll leave the house in a few minutes and we'll talk more there. Stay safe till we get there, Maria!" Red yelled as he got off the phone. Maria sighed and put her phone back into her pocketbook. She felt entirely responsible for this.

All because she wanted something for dinner.

(POV Change: Red)

Red was tempted to call Jesse and James to see if maybe they'd seen Green within the area. He had scheduled them to hang signs for the new drugs his company had created and were looking for people who were willing to let them test these drugs on them – but he wasn't sure exactly how he'd feel about being met and greeted by those two damn failure of Team Rocket members. Red knew Green would damn well remember those two and if they met with him he was certain either that Green would refuse help from them or entirely ignore them all together.

Red sighed and grabbed his coat from the closet. He wasn't entirely sure but he had a feeling that the punks Maria was talking about were Jesse and James – because when they were younger, Green would always call all Team Rocket members a bunch of punks and thugs who had nothing better to do but try and miserably fail at stealing Pokemon. Red chuckled a bit at recalling that. Green sure was a feisty, 'I'm right and your wrong' type of kid. Stubborn to a T – but that's what made Green himself – and what made Red love him so much and so dearly.

It was a bright, crisp morning in Fall. Red and Green were sitting underneath a colorful tree whose leaves were dancing all around them. They were fishing for Magikarp and drinking Moo-moo milk as a small celebration to their summer vacation ending. They wanted to end their summer on a high note.

School was starting within a week and Red was excited. He was going into the 4th grade! Green had told him so much about the 4th grade and how awesome it was. There was a field trip within the middle of the year where they'd go to the carnival and see all the cool Pokemon and all of their amazing tricks – and Red couldn't wait. He loved Pokemon so much that the thought of going and seeing fully evolved Pokemon doing tricks that would take years of practice and a strong bond between trainer and Pokemon excited him.

Red wanted to be the best trainer – like no one ever was. He couldn't wait to go on this field trip so he could pick up on tips and tricks on being even a better Pokemon trainer and how to bond better with your Pokemon. Red glanced over at Green – and couldn't help but bust out a bright and toothy smile. Green was ever so focused on the lake ahead of him. His countenance was serious yet smooth – his childish grin was plastered all over his face while his eyes were stone-cooled and locked onto the lake.

"Hey, Green! I can't wait till school starts! I'm really excited about the 4th grade ever since you told me about that neat field trip! I'm going to learn all I can from them and then become the best Pokemon trainer ever!" Red screeched at the top of his lungs in excitement. Green winced and glowered over at Red. Red's smile fell and he frowned at Green's angry face.

"What's the matter, Green?" Red asked innocently. Green shook his head in irritation and sighed, throwing his head back. Green glued his eyes to Red's and glowered ever more. Red frowned more. Red wasn't sure what he said or did to make Green this angry but he wasn't liking it one bit.

"You're not going to be the best Pokemon Trainer ever – that's my job and only for me. You can be my lackey! I'm not letting you steal my title!" Green yelled, throwing his rod to the side and curling up into a ball. Red's face went straight , his lips curled down and tears started to well up within his eyes. Red started to cry while Green kept on pouting.

"I'm older so I'm always first and ahead of you, you got that? I'm first no matter what!" Green whined out. Red wanted to cry and throw a fit. Just once he wanted to beat Green at something. Green was his best friend but he never let Red win once on purpose or anything. Green was determined to be the best at everything and let no one stop him no matter what – not even Red was an exception to this rule and they'd been best friends since they were babies.

And that's why Red was so sad. Just once he wanted to go 'ha-ha I beat you, Green' but he couldn't even mention about the possibly of it happening – Green would get so angry and stubborn saying it was 'his title or place' and there was nothing Red could do to ever beat him and to no even bother. Red bit his lip and cut the tears back in his eyes.

"Why are you so mean, Green? Why can't I be the best Pokemon Trainer? You always are better at everything than me. I just want one title to myself! Please, Green?" Red cried out, trying his best to calm down – but the tears just kept coming and coming and Red couldn't stop himself from crying either. He hated always being second to Green. He just wanted to be number one for once and Green wasn't even letting him even talk about it.

Red glanced over at Green and noticed Green was still pouting. Red stood up and walked over to Green. When he was next to Green, he plopped down onto the ground next to him. Red looked Green over and noticed he was starting to cry – and he wasn't sure why. He hated to see Green look so sad and sullen. He just wanted Green to get back to fishing and talking about the 5th grade and how he was excited to be going into it. Red tapped Green's shoulder. Green slowly turned his head towards Red and Red leaned in, kissing him on the cheek. Green jumped back shocked and Red sat there with the biggest smile on his face.

"W-why'd you do that, Red?!" Green scrambled out, flustered and embarrassed. Red chuckled and hugged Green.

"I'm okay with you being first in everything we do, Mr. Stubborn Butt-head! Just as long as I never see my best friend sad and I'm always by your side, Green!" Red chimed out loudly, excited that he may never be first in anything he ever does but he'd always have Green by his side.

(POV Change: Jesse)

Jesse wasn't too happy with her situation. She had to deal with her dim-wit of a husband – who she loved dearly. But she was sore and tired and wanted to go sleep. These damn posters were getting in the way of that and she wanted to get this bastards hung up as soon as possible. Unfortunately for her, James was taking his sweet time. Jesse kept rolling her eyes and sighing each time James would make a mistake or would forget what he was doing.

"For Arceus' sakes, James, you're not doing brain surgery! Let's get a move on it, this baby is killing my back!" Jesse hollered out as she held her back, emphasizing her pain. James glanced over and rolled his eyes.

"You're the one who wanted to have a baby, Jesse. I just did what you said – you did that to yourself," James coughed out as he hastily stuck another sign up. Jesse flashed her teeth and wanted to strangle her husband but she decided against it – all this anger and exhaustion was probably doing a number on the baby. Jesse rolled her eyes once more and plopped down on a nearby box. She rested her head on her hand and stared at James, watching him struggle to hang the signs up by himself.

"So what did the twerp of a boss want anyways?" Jesse asked, straightening up and stretching her back and legs. James sighed and turned towards Jesse. James' eyes seem to have a hateful glint to them and Jesse couldn't tell if it was from all of her complaining of being in pain and tired and wanting to go home or because of what Red has said to him over the phone – and she was hoping for the sake of her husband's safety it was the latter. James put his supplies down and sat down next to Jesse. He grabbed her hand and looked her deeply in the eyes.

"He wanted to know if we'd heard anything about Silver or if anyone has said anything about Green ever since he left prison. I've honestly haven't heard a damn thing about either one of them – even with Green being so public with his face," James spat out, bored with what he was saying. Jesse raised an eyebrow. She didn't understand why Red was so worried and doting about Green – Green had went to prison for beating his Eevee almost to death and being absolutely cruel to his other Pokemon. She just didn't get it. If James had did even half of what Green did she'd probably already beat the shit outta him and turned him in herself.

"Why is he so about Green, James? Is it cause they were one best friends? I can't think of anything else to be honest... unless... you know, they're … gay," Jesse stressed, growing more embarrassed by the minute insinuating that Red and Green could possibly be in a romantic maybe even sexual relationship. James gagged and visibly shuttered.

"Not even in your twisted dreams, Jesse. I think he's just asking because of what's going to happen soon... Red's planning on affiancing himself as the head commander of our region – ever since the whole debacle with that one Girl's dad, Red now owns a lot of territory in Kanto and Jhoto. Hell, he even owns some of the Orange Island's. It's insane to think about. Maybe he's wanting to see if Green will join him. He already has a history of being a power-hungry, cocky , dick of a person. I'm sure Green would do amazing as a leader," James huffed out. Jesse sighed and closed her eyes for a moment. Green really was quiet the obnoxious asshole while Red and Green were kids.

"You really think that's why, James? I mean, I'm not doubting you but I can't see Red doing that for some reason. All throughout being teens they hated each other. I think He is just worried about Green's name getting out there again. You know the media would freak to know that a Pokemon abuser is out of jail," Jesse said, playing with the end of her ponytail. James thought carefully for a few seconds and then glance over at his wife.

"Regardless of what Red is planning, I hope it isn't anything drastic like last time," James mumbled out. Jesse barely heard what he said but she looked over at him and bit her lip. She hoped James was right and nothing drastic would happen. All of the deaths that ensued from Red's plan last time was absolutely horrific and Jesse and James were definitely changed on that last day of Red's plan last time. They didn't really care about others but on that last day they gave every single damn they could and then some. They braved the medical tents, trying to rush the ones that were able to be healed out to safety and seal the fates of those agonizing and suffering – all while Red was coming to 'reap the rewards' he sowed – when all he did was cause mass deaths and destruction.

Jesse shivered. That day would never leave her mind and was a constant reminded that Red was definitely a very dangerous man.
