Gathering Pieces

Yoshikazu swung his hammer at Yoshiki's soul; he just avoided the swing of the hammer as it skimmed his hair. Yoshiki continued running; he didn't stand a chance against the hammer (even if he was a spirit) which Yoshikazu swung. Yoshiki didn't exactly want any broken bones in either soul or body so the best thing to do was to run. Make sure that the hammer didn't touch him or go through him while he ran. Yoshikazu didn't lighten up with what he was ordered to do, he was going to capture Yoshiki's soul and make sure that Sachiko had her way. This was always going to be her game and both Yoshiki and he were her pawns. Each new soul which enters plays a game they can't win. The students which Yoshiki was part of were playing a good game against Sachiko but it wouldn't be long before Sachiko killed them all or Yoshiki killed them all.

We'll Save You! – Gathering Pieces

Yuki walked in front of both Miki and Kizami, doing her best to try and pick up the souls in the building. It wasn't what she really wanted to do but it would help her new friends to find who they've lost. Miki and Kizami walked silently behind Yuki. Miki holding onto the candle and being the strongest she needed to be. Kizami watched Miki while they walked. She was Kishinuma's sister and that was easily picked up from the eyes. They both had similar eyes, both filled with determination to defend what they believed was right.

"So Kizami, why did you do the charm?" Miki asked; she wasn't even sure why Yoshiki did the charm. She knew that he didn't really care for much and always thought that charms and stuff were rubbish. This was probably the first and last charm he was ever going to take part in. If he made it ou-no, he WAS going to make it out alive. There wasn't going to be any way that she was going to leave him here.

"Some people I hung out with...wanted to do the stupid charm," Kizami shrugged slightly. His 'friends' were mostly dead; the only friend left was Kurosaki. The very friend he wanted to kill badly but stopped before he could.

"I found something at Onii-chan's school and I ended up here. I didn't do anything but touch this scrap of paper..." Miki shuffled in her pockets and pulled out the paper scrap she picked up at Kisaragi Academy. "Looks like it belonged to a charm of some sort. I can only guess that this is what sent everyone here."

"Sachiko Ever After, that's what the charm is called," Kizami said.

"Sachiko Ever After huh? Doesn't look like a happy ever after," Miki put the paper scrap away. She looked around the corridor before she felt the floorboards shift under her feet. She froze at the loud creaking noise which emitted from under her feet. Kizami and Yuki both froze too and looked at her. Miki gulped slightly, the fear of the floor breaking under her feet was increasing.

"If the floorboards break, we'll pull you back up," Yuki smiled at Miki. She nodded before she took another step. The floorboards shattered under Miki's new step. Her whole body was falling forwards as all her weight was placed on the leg now disappearing through the floor, Yuki and Kizami immediately grabbed her to stop her from falling into the darkness below. Kizami pulled Miki out from the whole.

"Thank you," Miki gently gave Kizami a hug.

"I'm just glad you're okay," Kizami said as he gently pushed Miki off himself. Kizami carefully picked up a candle which Ayumi had left behind and continued walking. Miki and Yuki followed.

We'll Save You! – Gathering Pieces

Satoshi, Kurosaki and Ryou walked down the corridors. The corridors carried the echo from the footsteps of the two males. Kurosaki was holding onto the candle which Ayumi had given them to help them navigate through the corridors. The corridors were darker than before so the candle was needed if they were going to get to the location perfectly.

"Here," Ryou pointed towards the Principal's office.

"In there?" Kurosaki asked.

"Let's go," Satoshi said as he pushed open the door and walked inside. Kurosaki and Ryou followed Satoshi into the office. The room was falling to pieces; dust covered the ground, desk and other items around the room. Satoshi and Kurosaki moved around carefully to avoid dust flying into the air. It was bad enough that this room held a strong stench of blood. It proved useful knowing that Sachiko's tongue was here from the stench. Satoshi and Kurosaki both covered their noses and gagged slightly. The stench wasn't something they could stand for a while.

"You'll find her tongue in here. Desk draw," Ryou told the two of them as he gently pushed them inside.

"Ok-ay," Kurosaki dared to open his mouth to speak, Satoshi's body refused to open its mouth to reply but a small grunting noise came from Satoshi as he nodded to enter. Ryou watched the two students enter the room. The current students here were doing something which the other students didn't do, they worked as a team to sort this out, but the Darkening wasn't playing the role it should have been doing. The emotions that the deceased were feeling were taken by the Darkening to kill the other living souls in the spaces...but it wasn't happening. The Darkening abandoned its job to target Yoshiki because of Sachiko's interest in him. The Darkening always did want ways against Sachiko; this was one of the ways.

Kurosaki and Satoshi were looking around the desk before Satoshi uncovered his nose and gasped for some fresh(ish) air to fill his lungs. Satoshi's eyes widened as he could taste the blood from the strong scent of blood, his mind picked it up and his senses told the tongue that he could smell a strong source of blood. Satoshi had to fight back the temptation to throw up what was in his stomach.

"Found it," Kurosaki said as he pulled out a small pouch with Sachiko's tongue in, Satoshi nodded and they both heading towards the exit of the room. The door slammed shut.

We'll Save You! – Gathering Pieces

Seiko screamed as Yoshiki tore at Ms. Yui's flesh. The squishing noise and blood spraying out from her body made Seiko's spirit body tense up. Even if she was a spirit who was always feeling the burning sensation around her neck, she would feel sorry for Ms. Yui who was constantly going to feel scissors breaking through the skin, reaching her red, sticky blood and releasing it from the container of the body. The blood flowed out of her body and majority of it was taken by Yoshiki. He felt the flow of the sticky red substance flood his mouth and it slowly flowing down his throat and into his digestive system. Yoshiki tore bits of meat off Ms. Yui, chewing on the chunks of flesh he ripped off before the blood carried the chunks down his body.

"Why?" Seiko choked out. Yoshiki swallowed the mouthful and let go of Ms. Yui's body and looked at Seiko's spirit, a twisted smile plastered Yoshiki's face.

"Why? Because I've always hated all of you, the group of 'friends' you all were. Your backgrounds were always better than mine. How I envied all of you, you don't have to work every day to survive. Your parents pay for everything!" Yoshiki yelled slamming his foot down, the drops of blood jumped from the pool of blood Ms. Yui's body and landed a small distance away. Seiko scrambled backwards from Yoshiki, she saw the rage in the dead eyes of his, and the way his fingers curled into fists and shook violently at his sides.

"Kishinuma..." Seiko whimpered. She wasn't close to Yoshiki but she felt like she failed him, she was normally good at understanding how people felt but she was so busy with Naomi, she didn't pay much attention to others. It was true, Yoshiki was struggling to stay on top of everything, everyone knew that but he always acted too proud to accept their help. Yoshiki always wanted to prove it to himself that he didn't need to rely on others to get through life. That was just who he was, he never depended on them for anything but company. Even then that felt like they weren't needed for that.

"Don't Kishinuma me! I'm helping all of you stay together! We'll all stay here forever in Heavenly Host!" And with that, he let an insanity filled laugh out from his body. It bounced off the walls of the corridor. Seiko's eyes widened as a black, ghost-like figure came out from a nearby room. Seiko's eyes widened as she saw the Darkening.

The Darkening quickened it's pace and took hold of Yoshiki's arm, wrapping itself around his arm, the body shifted from humanoid into a black gas and started to work its way up Yoshiki's body to enter. Seiko watched as Yoshiki gained some control over his body and yanked his arm out and away from the gas-like shadow. The Darkening wasn't expecting that to happen and released the grip it had on Yoshiki.

"Trying to take over my body again?" Everyone's attention turned behind Seiko. The red flame of Yoshiki's soul burnt intensely as his body's rage had increased. Yoshiki's body backed up away from the soul version of himself. Yoshiki's soul didn't hesitate to try and return to his body, Yoshikazu's sledgehammer slammed down on Yoshiki's spirit leg. He screamed in pain as his body escaped. Seiko screamed in fear as Yoshikazu brought up the hammer once more. Yoshiki's soul desperately tried to crawl away from the giant behind him.

"Kishinuma..." Seiko whimpered before she got up from the place on the ground and ran over to Yoshiki. His flaming red spirit quickly changed into the soft, pale blue that mimicked Seiko's soul. Yoshiki's body had long gone out of sight of Yoshiki's soul. There wasn't any trace on where it disappeared off too. Yoshiki figured that it would be returning back to Sachiko while Yoshikazu had the job of dealing with him.

Seiko reached out her hand just as Yoshiki's soul reached for her hand. Yoshiki grasped her hand; she pulled him up on his feet and she helped him the best she could to get the two of them away from Yoshikazu. The tall zombie-like puppet was giving them the chase. The swift male was advancing quickly while the two students struggled to keep ahead of him.

"Shinohara, leave me. Find the others and get out of here," Yoshiki told her. Seiko shook her head.

"There's no way I'm leaving you behind with a leg like that!" Seiko yelled at him, he flinched in pain.

"It's going to be my fault if we get caught," Yoshiki muttered quietly.

Seiko shook her head. She was killed by Naomi, reasons unknown but with what this school could do...she wasn't surprised if the school implanted the hatred which Naomi felt when they had their fight. The ghost figure which went to attack Yoshiki before...did that have a part to play in the change of mind Naomi had? Naomi had dark eyes when she was tying the rope around her neck. It wanted his body for something...why was his soul separate from his body like this? His body was perfectly fine.

Yoshiki looked behind them to find that Yoshikazu wasn't following them anymore. Releasing his grip on Seiko's hand, he felt his own hand return to his side. Yoshiki's spirit gently leaned against the walls of the school and slowly slid down. He felt Seiko sit next to him on the wooden floor and breathe a sigh. So Seiko died in this school, he could tell from the burn marks of the rope around her neck. She was hung, the culprit remained a mystery but the school was starting to get his down. All he wanted was to return to his body and that was a struggle to do. Sachiko didn't want to let him near it so that she could fill her plans. Miki was here though; Ayumi seemed to be handling the school fine without him. Miki was a strong girl; just like him but his brother nature to protect her was causing him to worry.

"Kishinuma...Are you okay?" Seiko asked in a concerned mother-hen type voice. She could tell that he wasn't feeling right. The whole situation wasn't a usual situation. Seiko noticed how Yoshiki's spirit burned paler than her colour.

"I'm so useless here...Shinozaki didn't want me...she only wanted Mochida yet I was the one who protected her...helped her when the school attacked her mind. What do I get? Attacked by Sachiko and my spirit ripped out from my body so Sachiko can use me as a puppet...AYUMI DOESN'T CARE!" Yoshiki cried out. He couldn't take it anymore.

Seiko noticed how broken Yoshiki's soul was. Previously he was strong, he didn't accept defeat but the school was breaking him down. Sachiko knew what she was doing if she could break down Yoshiki and reduce him into another scared child. Seiko could see that Yoshiki was losing his grip on the thread of hope which she once clung so protectively on while alive.

"Were you Ayumi's sanity keeper?" Seiko asked.

"In a place like this, it was needed."

"I don't think she doesn't care. Sounds like you've put your neck on the line for her," Seiko commented. Yoshiki nodded. He would do anything to keep her protected but now, with him being a spirit like Seiko, he couldn't help Ayumi in any form. Not anymore.

"Do you...think it would be better...if they left me here and escaped?" Yoshiki asked. Seiko shook her head. It was a stupid thing to say. Seiko knew that Satoshi wouldn't give up trying to rescue everyone he knew who still sustained life. Seiko looked up at the ceiling.

"Before, you were in all the closed spaces but you couldn't see me. Now that you're a spirit like me...I don't think anyone can see you."

"Only Satoshi and Miki would really care about me...Miki as I'm her older brother and Satoshi because we're friends, like best friends...I think?" Seiko giggled slightly before she let out a full blown laugh. She was never going to see Yoshiki like this ever again, it was always going to be the first and last time she'll see Yoshiki, she could feel the tears threatening to come up in her face but she needed to keep them from falling. It wasn't for her sake but more for Yoshiki. Both of them were scared. Yoshiki was the one hunted down by the tall giant of a man while Seiko was just hovering around. Yoshiki didn't even bother to look at Seiko while she laughed.

We'll Save You! – Gathering Pieces

Naomi picked up the damaged cat plush before she smiled. The school had been silent and Yuka was gently clinging onto her while they looked around the building. Naomi felt sorry for Yuka being witness to all of this. It was terrifying for her to go through this place. It was for all of them but Yuka was the youngest and would be more frightened than anyone else. Unless you're Ayumi due to her 'sixth sense' as Satoshi had called it once.

"Yuka, we won't be here long and we'll re-join your brother soon. I found what we need," Naomi told her with a smile on her face. Tokiko was with them, silently sending out a message to the other two ghost children that they had found what they need. Tokiko giggled when she received a message from the other two ghost children that their mission had been a success too.

"They've got their required bits."

"Can you let them know that we'll be heading back to the 'safe room' Tokiko?" Naomi asked. The ghost child nodded and sent out the message. Naomi examined the plush cat in her hand. It was badly destroyed and covered in dirt. Yuka looked at the plush cat before she gently took it out from Naomi's grip to further examine the cat plush.

"Now we just need to get to Sachiko's resting place and give back all the items."

We'll Save You! – Gathering Pieces

Sachiko was furious, there wasn't any possible way that she had let them survive this long to piece together all the items which they needed to appease her. It wasn't fair! She didn't want to end this! She was God in Heavenly Host! THIS WASN'T WHAT SHE WANTED! She looked back at the young male student silently sleeping in the corner of the room.

The male had returned back to her all worn out, covered in blood but looking healthy as usual. The victims of her charm were going to be his food which he could hunt on his own. As long as his soul didn't interfere with her plans, she was fine. It would be better if the soul was captured and then chained up or imprisoned into a room. That way he'll slowly come to his own insanity and curl up into the corner and possibly become a spirit like the ghost children. Another one of them was going to be useful to her. He could do that killing just like they did. Of course he'll be older, stronger and won't care who he attacks. As long as it isn't his body he attacked, then she didn't have any issues.

"Onii-chan, I won't give you up. I won't hurt you like they have. Why couldn't that Ayumi girl fall into insanity by now!" Sachiko screamed in frustration. If there was one pest, that would be Ayumi. She's the one who hurt her Onii-chan the most. When the group came down to get the body back, she was going to kill her personally.

FireCacodemon: Review time!

Satoshi: Namelessfaceless - Thanks for the compliment for the story. As for me addressing Yoshiki the way I did was due to me getting too into the role of being a leader and at the moment, I'll call Yoshiki by his name once he's back together once more.

FireCacodemon: EpikalStorms - Well, the chapter didn't go below 3000 words limit. I probably had more talk instead. Glad you love the story now.

Yoshiki: DarkForestWolf - And better and better and better? :3 Well, let's just hope the story finishes just as well as it started.

FireCacodemon: Yeah, well we've got to get going now. We'll be back next chapter.

Yoshiki: Bye~
