Serene jumped down after Riddick and followed him, close behind him, contemplating what he had said to her. 'Could Kyra be that stupid? I'm a furyan and I don't even love him, no one would ever want him,' she thought to herself, wondering if what he told her was true, or just another lie to get out of being yelled at and waiting his time.
"What are you doing back here?" Kyra snapped when she saw Riddick crouch through the small doorway and crawl inside where they were hidden. Vaako had been wrapping some cloth around her hands and pouring water on any other cut that was still bleeding.
"Last time you saw me peek around a corner like that you smiled so big, never had a doubt, you said" he reminded her or when they were back on that planet so many years ago. "When everyone else had abandoned you, when everyone else thought I would give up on them, and I came back? You ask what I'm doing here." He snapped at her anger, a deep growl in his voice.
"So what's your point?" She said snapping back, forgetting there were two other people in the small room they were in. Serene had crawled through the small doorway and sat down looking at the damage on her arms, which wasn't much, just bloody.
"My point is, I'm not into killing kids who don't deserve it." He said, looking down at her hands, that had now been covered with some cloth and tied tight.
"These don't even look like she could have done it, dame Vaako that is." Serene whispered to Vaako, who had been thinking the same thing.
"Another thing is, if she went out to her, how come no one followed her, how come she just came waltzing back here cut up, without any of us hearing any of it?" He whispered back to her, looking up at Riddick who had turned his ear to hear them talking.
"Kyra, can you tell me what happened, exactly?" Vaako said, leaning in and making his question sound as sweet and innocent as possible.
"Like I said, I tried going out there on my own" she said, her answer was short, and not what Vaako wanted to hear. He started to become impatient and leaned in, pressing his hand on her knuckles.
"But you're a necromonger, why on earth would they attack a necromonger coming to her?" He said, his voice growing more annoyed with every word, he applied pressure to her hand and made sure he was hurting her.
"You're hurting me!" She said trying to pull her hand out rom under his, but the cloth rubbed her bleeding wounds and made her wince in pain.
"I don't care, you did this yourself! I know her enough to know, she wouldn't have let you go, unless someone followed you, she would have killed you, and made sure you were dead!" He yelled, his voice getting louder.
"I told you what happened!" Kyra snapped back, the pain causing her to become even more angry then she already was at him.
"Liar!" He yelled, his hand slapping across her face, sending her body down to the floor, her curly hair whipped in front of her face, and a large red mark shown on her cheek. Riddick grabbed Vaakos hand and threw him over him and pulled a blade out to his throat, "don't you hurt her!" He growled deep and low.
"So what, you get turned down and cut yourself to feel sorry, get sympathy for what?" Serene said to Kyra who was rubbing her face, a few tears falling from her face.
"You don't see the was he looks at you do you?!" She yelled at Serene, grabbing the attention of Riddick and Vaako, who grew silent in their argument. "You don't see it, he looks at you, and I swear he is smiling, it's not fair, I've known him longer, been with him more, he should have me!" She yelled crying out from the pain, and hurt inside her heart.
"Oh get a fucking grip on yourself! Kyra shut up! You got turned down by a murderer, he is nothing special, just shut up with your whole, I'm in love shit, it's like I don't even know you anymore, you're not the strong fighter I used to know, and I'm sure you're not the same kid Riddick used to know, where you would try your hardest to be like him, shaving your head to look like him, wearing goggles, then running off to find him, leaving behind any and everyone who had helped you!" Serene yelled, remembering the day she had taken off on a merc ship, trying to find her way to Riddick, the only person she ever talked about, or looked up to. "Where is that Kyra? Where did she go? Get lost in some infatuated story about what, love? Romantic nights looking up at the stars? People like us don't get that, we get thrown in jail, forced to fend for ourselves, forced to team up with murderers to try to find our way home, you don't get a happy ending, you get home, and you live your life, hopefully without any more problems." Serene went on and on, tears forming in her eyes, and the three of them noticed she was talking about herself, talking about how when they got to Furya what would even happen, nothing, no happy ending.
"She's right, this isn't a book and at the last page the book is closed and you assume they have a happy life, it doesn't stop when we get home, it stops when we die, and most people wouldn't even care if any of us died, they would rather us be gone then deal with us anymore." Vaako said, looking down at the ground, small puddles of blood from Kyras hands formed around his feet.
"Serene, you can make it a happy ending, you just choose not to." Kyra snapped at her and pulled her hands back into her, fixing the cloth wrapped around her hands.
"We need to get out of here, they find us trapped in a small room we will be dead before we knew it. This way" Vaako broke the silence between them all, pushing a small door open and lending his hand out to hurry the two girls along, them riddick.
"You first" Riddick hesitated, he didn't trust Vaako still, and thought it wiser to follow behind him. Vaako nodded his head and crawled through the small door. Riddick followed taking a glance back at the door they had crawled through and then at the group ahead. He hesitated to follow, he had to chance to close them off forever, run off on his own, but something was keeping him from doing so.
When they reached the end of the dark tunnel they were crawling through the door opened up to a familiar sight, Vaakos quarters. Kyra crawled out first, followed by Serene who had stood up to fix her dress, it was uncomfortable, she found her old clothes and went to throw them back on.
Vaako crawled out, turning to watch riddick crawl through and stand up, his eye shifted around the room, landing on Serene, who was slipping her pants on. She threw her shirt on and was back to the baggy old clothes she was in.
"We will need to baracaded the doors and this. They cannot know we are in here" Vaako said slamming the small door shut and moving a heavy desk in front of the door, "We need to figure a way out of here without getting killed"
"No we need to figure out what the Threshold is" serene interrupted him. "That's how we will find the Underverse, through the threshold" she said.
"Threshold, it's the place between this world and the underverse, how on earth will we find that?" Vaako questioned, already speaking with her about this, he didn't know how to find it.
"I think I know" Riddick said, looking up at them all, "It's the thrown" he continued "On the thrown there's hall. Each pillar has a different design. It's a map to there, which means we will need another ship."
"Not to mention getting in there and remembering which pillar was what" Kyra said
"It's a plan, and it might work if we work together, but it means you two stop your fighting" Vaako said pointing at riddick and Kyra "you stop trying to prove yourself" he point to serene "and trust me" he finished looking at them who nodded in agreement that they would need to team up if they were all going to get out alive.
