Dear Mom and Dad,
I know that everything was prepared for me to withdraw, but I think I may have found a solution that allows me to continue studying magic away from Wizard City.
Do you remember Sandra, one of my roommates? I mentioned her in one of my previous letters. She's part of the Balance honors class and has parents in high places, so she gets exclusive access to a bunch of things at Ravenwood she'd normally have no chance at. Well, I guess I made a better impression on her than she did on me, because she was pretty upset about the fact that I'd be withdrawing from Ravenwood. She told me about a special Study Abroad program with the University of Marleybone that's going to the recently-rediscovered world of Krokotopia!
The program is focused on magical archaeology, with several months excavating in Krokotopia followed by an internship with the Royal Museum of Marleybone analyzing the various artifacts. There will be students from Ravenwood on the trip as well as archaeology students from the University of Marleybone. Leading the trip is the distinguished Professor Winthrop, professor of archaeology, and there will be a small group of soldiers from Marleybone's Royal Expeditionary Force accompanying us in Krokotopia to make sure that everything is safe.
I've looked at how many people can go on the trip. There are 16 spots, 8 from Wizard City and 8 from Marleybone. Right now, there are only 2 spots left for wizards, so please respond quickly so I don't lose out! I also found some of the basic information for the wizards on the trip: there's a Life wizard who's completed her healer certification, so there's immediate medical care if anything goes wrong, and there are currently no Death wizards signed up, so I shouldn't have any problems due to my condition.
Please, can I go? This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Your daughter,
Brynn.

Dear Mom and Dad,
Thank you so much! I'll write you again once we're in Krokotopia.

A/N: I'm sorry, everyone. Short chapter, long wait, and no action. Actually, probably no action next chapter, too, because of the limits of letter format.
Let me tell you a bit about what's happening with my life right now: on either December 11th or December 15th, I'll know whether or not I've gotten in to my first-choice college. If I get in, I'll have much more time to work on Letters Home. If I don't, I'll be busy writing more applications and making sure I get good first semester grades until the end of January. When I know the results, I'll post it on my profile so you know how things are going.
In regards to the story: do you have any interest in seeing some romance? I have the opportunity to write it in, but I want to know how you guys feel about it first. If the consensus is no, I won't include it.
