I decided to make this as the epilogue since I'm not completely sure the first chapter of the sequel will be posted by the end of this month. Hope it clears up somethings for those that have questions.
Shinra pushed his glasses up with his index finger as he squinted at the egg. As he held it directly above a flashlight, he could see nothing inside. No veins, no obvious mass inside. With a click, the light was off and the doctor glanced over at Shizuo. The man's hair was tousled more than usual and what was visible of his face was haggard. If someone had told Shinra that the blonde had no slept in two weeks, he would have believed them.
"You know this is a chicken egg, right?" Shizuo could not form words to answer Shinra's statement. The unlicensed doctor followed up by rubbing a patch of black spots off the egg, "Definitely a nice job they did but it's still just paint." Who would have sent Shizuo a box of eggs? Ah, who else?
Izaya.
Without a word, the bodyguard stood, collected the eggs and left.
There was a percent of Izaya that was surprised he was found so easily. It was not often he sat in the park. Most of it was seething that he was hit with an egg.
"You think this is funny?" The voice was uncharacteristically calm. The unbridled rage in Shizuo's eyes was commonplace. After wiping yolk and flicking away shell from his hair, the informant's attention caught what was in the blonde's hand. A smirk turned into a chuckle which transformed into a laugh. In the end, tears threatened to spill from Izaya's red eyes.
He had received a box from Healdsburg too. A red sticker with the word "Fragile" had his heart skip a beat. The contents however...
"At least they put effort into yours." It made an eyebrow raise on Shizuo's face, "Being sent literal Easter eggs was kind of mean." The taller man's mouth gaped open, "You mean-"
"Yep. Tie dyed and everything." Shizuo placed the queued egg back into package. If only for a second did he think of apologizing before his shirt, vest and bow tie were sliced open. Izaya stood a few steps away, hands outstretched in a mock shrug, as if he had no clue how it had happened.
"Her father may be the CEO of an international company but he takes time for the little things, I guess. I just hope you don't think they'll be your children." Even through all the red he was seeing, the thought had never occurred to Shizuo the eggs might have just been a symbol. It cleared his mind for a minute before Izaya resumed talking, "She's mine and so are the babies." Knuckles cracked as hands formed fists. The raven haired man's words had set off a bomb in Shizuo. Who was Izaya to lay claim on Corvi? She was her own person- Well, bird but still! And if anything, she was Shizuo's.
Little chips of cement popped and the ground gave as the one way sign was ripped from the sidewalk. The metal wailed out as his grip tightened around it. He may not have noticed the irony but all Shizuo could think was one way or another, he was going to make the informant eat the sign.
