A/N: Alright guys here is where things will be getting a little hectic as we all know who woke up from the last chapter. This chapter will follow Mako and his waking up and what happens. Anyway I hope you enjoy and leave a review thank you.
Mako's eyes flew open seeing a white ceiling. He breathed rather heavy from just having a nice relaxing talk with Korra in the spirit world to being thrusted back into his body. Mako then surveyed the room seeing the white walls, a green curtain blocking his view of the door and chairs sitting next to him. 'Probably Korra' he thought to himself with a slight chuckle.
Mako tried to call out to the nurse to tell him he was awake but nothing came out. He is so tired that he can barely speak a word. Soon Mako decided he would get them himself and tried to swing his legs over the bed but stopped himself when he felt pain course through his body. He slowly sat up and took the covers off of his lower body to reveal he had a cast on his right leg. Not stopping there Mako took off the IV's connected to his arms and slid his shirt off revealing a long scar going down the middle of his chest. 'Wow I got banged up pretty badly. No wonder Korra was so happy to see me in the spirit world' he thought to himself.
Mako quickly decided it would be best if he could just relax by himself for a little while before having a doctor or nurse come in and do something to him. Mako's eyes traveled all along his room looking at all the balloons his friends had left him. The words on the balloons ranged from 'Get Well' to 'Feel better'.
His eye finally landed on the only window in his room. It is currently blocking his view of Republic City and not allowing the sun to shine through. Mako quickly decided he would change that as he used what little energy he had left in his body to swing his legs over the bed. He felt the pain in his chest again and felt like what energy he had left was just wasted on swinging his legs over the bed.
Luckily for him there was a pair of crutches sitting next to his bed. Mako took the crutches and hobbled slowly over to his window. He reached for the white curtains and quickly yanked them to his side showing him the horrors of the outside world.
Mako saw at least a dozen Equalist ships hovering over Republic City dropping bombs and allowing chi blockers to zip line into the city. Speaking of city Mako then looked down to see multiple houses on fire with an occasional police van cruising by with lights and horns blazing. 'What the hell this can't be happening' Mako thought to himself.
But he was quickly brought out of his thoughts when he heard multiple screams coming from the hallway of his wing. Soon loud footsteps followed along with the sounds of earth being thrown and fire blasts. 'Oh shit the hospital is under attack. I need to get out of here'.
More screams came from the hallway as more and more bending was heard down the hallway. Mako walked towards the door that was open and layed against the side of it not allowing any of the Equalists to see him without coming into the room. Mako peeked around the corner to see both doctors and nurses running from the left side of the hall to the right occasionally looking back.
All of a sudden a dagger came from the left side of the hall and made contact with one of the doctors in the back. The man fell to the floor writhing in pain from the knife. Mako watched as two Equalist chi blockers came from where the dagger originated from and stop next to the wounded doctor.
"What a loser" one of the chi blockers said.
"Yeah didn't even put up a good fight"
Mako knew this was his time to strike because both of their backs were facing him. Mako carefully walked into the door view and took a deep breath before throwing his fist out expecting a decently large fire blast. But nothing came out. Mako soon realized that he was too tired to bend and he now knew that he was pretty much defenseless.
The Equalist took out his knife from the back of the doctor and wiped the blood off onto the bottom of his pants. He put the dagger back in his pocket and said "Come on lets go finish those doctors". The other Equalist just nodded his head and they both walked down into the right hallway following the fleeing doctors.
Mako watched them leave his hallway and he let out a sigh of relief. He knew that he had to find Korra right away and fast before he ended up like these poor doctors.
Before he did anything else he crutched to the bathroom and turned on the sink allowing the coo water to run freely out. Mako cupped his hands and put it underneath the water allowing it to stay there and he brought it up to his face slurping down the cool liquid. He repeated this several times before taking one more 'cup' of water and splashing it over his face. Mako looked at the mirror and watched the liquid droplets roll down his face.
Deciding it was time to hit the road Mako reached for his crutches only to see something valuable out of the corner of his eye. He turned his head to see a used needle sitting on the top of the toilet. 'That looks like my only means of self-defense' Mako thought to himself as he grabbed the needle put it in his right hand. He didn't have the time or energy to change into his clothes so he decided to stay in the hospital shirt for now.
Mako crutched back out the bathroom and soon out the door leading to the hallway. Soon enough he met up with the doctor he just saw get murdered and thought 'poor bastard' before continuing his crutching down the hall seeing the destruction. The walls had both scorch marks and blood stains all over them. There were pieces of the wall also missing from the earth benders Mako quickly thought. There was just one problem though.
There were no bodies…
There was blood everywhere but there were no bodies to be found. Mako continued to crutch until he smelt the worst thing possible. He turned the corner of the hall to see an enormous pile of dead doctors, nurses and security guards with the words 'No More Benders' written on the wall above them in blood.
Mako felt his stomach was going to explode and throw everything up. But he denied himself because he didn't want to end up like these guys. He then saw a desk off in the corner of the room and quickly crutched towards it. There was two dead nurses behind it with knives in both of their foreheads.
Mako threw drawers out looking for anything that could help him more. But suddenly the lights went out scaring the shit out of Mako. He continued to search threw the drawers until he found a full box of matches. A smile came to Mako's face and he quickly opened the small box, taking out a match and swiping it against the abrasive side lighting the match.
As soon as he lit the match he immediately saw a sign saying 'Emergency stairwell'.
Mako quickly crutched towards the stairway and opened the door revealing the uber dark stairwell. The match then went out and he quickly took another match out lighting it instantly. He started to walk down the stairs slowly leaning against the wall for leverage.
Every few steps the match would go out and he would light another match repeating the same cycle about 20 times before he saw another sign that said 'Exit'. He crutched towards the door and tried to push it open to no avail. Mako continued to try and push the door open several times and suddenly the lights came back on.
He looked around seeing the white stairs.
Suddenly Mako heard the door above his floor open and voices soon followed. "Hey you stop right there" the female voice said. Mako turned around seeing two Equalists now running down the large stairway towards him.
Mako found some new adrenaline in his body and he used his shoulder to knock open the stuck door. He thought he was going to fall but luckily there was a metal rail there that stopped his fall.
Turning around quickly Mako swung the door closed and placed one of his crutches into the door handle blocking off his pursuers. The door started to shake violently hearing the two chi blockers on the other side trying to break the door down.
Using his adrenaline he quickly walked down the stairs and found himself in front of the hospital. Mako saw the street full of random people running down the block along with police officers directing them and fending off a chi blocker once in a while.
Mako walked towards the street and was about to cross it when he heard a loud thud from behind him. He turned around and saw that the door he came from was now on the ground with 4 chi blockers running towards him with daggers in hand.
Mako started to both hop away and crutch away from the hospital not being able to find a police officer. Unfortunately pain soon found his left leg when he felt a dagger penetrate his left ankle forcing him to fall and land on the hard pavement. Air quickly left Mako's lungs as he reached his hand down towards his left ankle and felt around for the dagger. He found it quickly and pulled it out feeling more pain and warm liquid rush out of his wound. Mako brought the dagger up to his face seeing the red blood on the front of it and he quickly threw it aside hearing the metal of the dagger bang against the ground.
Mako soon felt hands around his body and he found himself being brutally thrown onto his back allowing him to see the 4 chi blockers standing in front of him.
"Well, well looks like we found the Avatar's boyfriend" a female chi blocker said.
"You fucking people are sick you know that. Attacking a hospital and killing defenseless patients along with defenseless doctors and nurses. All of you are going to pay for your atrocities" Mako said really wanting to fire blast these guys until they were ashes in the wind.
Mako hear a chuckle come from the female chi blocker and she said. "Wow if you weren't a bender and dating the Avatar I would totally have sex with you. I love men like you but unfortunately we can't change those things at the moment. Sorry.
The female chi blocker took out another dagger and was about to throw it at the chest of the fire bender, when suddenly a water whip came out of nowhere and knocked the dagger out of her hand sending it flying across the street. But before any of the other chi blockers cold react a large tidal wave covered them sending them across the street right next to the dagger. They tried to get up after but the water froze around them making them stuck in place only allowing them to grunt and try to move their limbs around and break out.
Mako watched as the chi blockers were sent across the street and he looked towards the source to see a shadow figure. Even though it was early in the afternoon he couldn't see his savior. But to add to Mako's unluckiness he started to feel his eyelids get heavy.
Mako tried to fight back this heaviness thinking 'No I need to find Korra I can't stop-… now…'
The last thing Mako saw was his savior running towards him with what appeared to be blue water covering her hands. He knew she was a healer and a smile came to his face knowing he would be alright soon.
Finally his eyelids closed and darkness took him…
A/N: Alright that was this chapter. It seems that Mako cannot catch a break on anything. but don't worry about it too much in the next chapter we will meet who his savior is. stay tuned to see.
