Chapter Thirteen

June 12th, Year XXX9

Location: Italy

Place: Tuscany

After their shopping spree the day before, Relena and Rhea stayed in the next day. Moving their new furniture around, decorating each room and enjoying the Tuscan summer outside their new patio with glass of lemonade.

Rhea took it to upon herself to decor her room and Gwen's similarly. She even went as far to buy two of the same outfit and shoes but in different color to fill both their closets without Relena noticing.

'If she comes in here and actually get curious, she'll question me.' Rhea closed the closet door, 'Better not act suspicious.'

She walk down the stairs and found her Mother admiring her work in the dining room. "Looks good, Mother."

"It does, a lot of sun light and it overlooking the garden outside." Relena took a step back and admired the whole setting. "Did you finish upstairs?"

"Yes, I did." Rhea smiled, "I didn't realized that I've bought so much clothes yesterday that I have to use the closet next door to fit everything."

"Oh dear." Relena giggled, "That's all right."

For a moment, Rhea watched her Mother run around the dining room. The woman carefully placed each items in places she believes looks good and how she dressed so normal like any ordinary Mother. "You look fabulous Mother..."

Relena stopped for a moment. Her hair is braided and held by a white handkerchief, she wore a blue cotton button up shirt with the sleeve rolled up, gray jeans and barefoot. "Thank you, darling. It's been so long since I've dressed down like this."

"I feel really good."

"You should dress like this more often." Rhea encourage, "At home..."

"Your Grandmother will have a heart attack." Relena started decorated again, "A sophisticated V.F.M shouldn't look like anything but sophisticated, even in their own home..."

"She says always professional and sophisticated..."

Rhea hasn't officially met her Darlian Grandmother but from what Gwen have told her, the woman got a strict rule about everything and made sure that Gwen is raised properly when Relena is away. Just then, Rhea remember something Gwen have told her about the woman.

"Mother, does Grandmother dislike me?" Rhea sat at the bar stool and watched her Mother's reaction.

Relena stopped completely and turned to look at her daughter, "What have she said or done to you to think that?"

"She acts different when you are not around." Rhea mimics Gwen's words. "Like when she looks at me, it's not love in her eyes. I don't really know what to say..."

Relena didn't answer at first, she walked over to her daughter and hugged her. "She disliked your Father and his background, no meaningful title behind his name and been involved in the war much more than any soldiers put together."

"Your Father was someone I fell in love with but she didn't approve of him."

"Because Father wasn't rich?" Rhea pulled back and look at her Mother with wide eyes, "Title and money mattered to her?"

"Please, baby, don't judge your Grandmother too harshly. She wanted someone who could provide for me and give me all the riches that I deserved." Relena explained.

"Father, he-..." Rhea wanted to cry. 'Daddy is so much better than any rich men to be compared to!'

"What your Grandmother didn't understand is that your Father loved me and provided me everything that I could ever ask for." Relena said with a smile. "He is so much more than any rich men your Grandmother ever tried to introduce to me."

"To me, your Father is the one."

Rhea felt her heart jumped with hope, "What if Father comes knocking down our door? What would you do?"

"Easy, I'll kiss him like there is no tomorrow!" Relena laughed. "Oh, my little Queen. Your Father may have been absent these past 10 years but if you take the time to remember the little things that appears around you with no explanations, you'll know."

"He loves you very much, thinks of you every day and wish with all of his heart to be near you."

"Santa Clause..." Rhea smiled, "The gifts every Christmas and on my Birthdays."

"See, that's my smart girl." Relena kissed her forehead. "Now, how about we finish the library and we can start making lunch?"

"What's for lunch?" Rhea jump down from the stool.

"Pasta, salad and garlic bread." Relena answered as she walk down the hallway to the library.

"I like pasta." Rhea said, she followed her Mother to the other room. "Mom, when are we leaving for Rome?"

"We can go tomorrow, it's a four hour drive from here." Relena answered. "We can stay for a few days over there if you want, so that you get the feel of Rome."

"It's also where Dad propose." Rhea giggled.

Relena laughed.

It was an hour later when the girls finished setting up the library when they heard a car approached the house. Rhea looked up to Relena who carefully stood up from sitting on the floor, cautiously walked up to the open window but hide behind the frame.

She peaked outside and then slightly frowned. "What are they doing here?"

"Mother?" Rhea stood up then, "Who is it?"

"I'm going to start lunch, dear, go and greet your Uncles." Relena left the room.

Rhea dashed toward the front door and opened it, she found Quatre about to knock on the door. "Uncle Quatre!"

"Hello, little Queen." Quatre pulled her into a hug.

Rhea noticed that he wasn't along, she turned and saw Wufei. "His Uncle Wufei."

"Hello Gwen, where is your Mother?" Wufei took a step forward and ruffled Rhea's hair.

"Inside, in the kitchen." Rhea said, she found herself being carried inside by the blonde man. "What are you two doing here?"

"Your Mom didn't check in on me yesterday nor bother answering her phone." Wufei growled under his breath. "Damn woman..."

Rhea smiled, "Mom left her phone in the car while we shopped and I think it's upstairs in her room charging."

"Promise me, Gwen, don't be as silly as your Mother when it comes to your safety!" Wufei lightly snap but Rhea found it rather funny, she laughed.

They found Relena behind the stove with a simmering pot of water. She turned and eyed Wufei, "I told you that I got this vacation under control."

"And you promised to stay in contact!" Wufei barked.

Quatre walked past the arguing adults to the open patio door with Rhea still in his arms. "How charming, a sunflower field."

"Isn't? Mother and I picked some of them this morning, they're in our rooms." Rhea answered.

Quatre turned his head at to Relena, "I'm taking Gwen outside with me."

Without a word, Quatre walked down the stone steps and continued until they couldn't heard the arguing anymore. He finally put Rhea down, "Your Aunt Dorothy would love this, and they're so tall."

"I always imagine Aunt Dorothy to be more of a rose's type of lady." Rhea said, she was only around the woman for a few hours but Dorothy made a big impact of what sort of woman she is.

Quatre laughed, "She loves flowers, and roses are her favorite."

"Though she also like lavender." Rhea remember what Gwen said about Dorothy. "And lilies…"

"Yes, those are her favorites." Quatre smiled, "That aside, tell me love. How long do you plan on lying to your Mother?"

Rhea stopped walking. She turned to face Quatre who is smiling down at her, his hands behind his back and a knowing look in his eyes.

"Don't coy with me either, I can feel the deference between you and the real Guinevere." Quatre pushed on, he already knew who the girl is the minute he held her in his arms earlier. He wants her to be honest and open up to him.

"Gwen warned me about you empathy, Mr. Winner." Rhea stood proudly, "Your right, I'm not Gwen."

"I'm Rhiannon."

Quatre smiled proudly, there's tears in his eyes. "Oh my lord…"

"Our little Princess…"

Rhea smiled shyly, "It's nice to meet you Mr. Winner."

Quatre walked up to her and hugged her tightly. "No, my precious. I'm your Uncle Quatre as much as Gwen's, and you're all grown up!"

"Uncle Quatre, Gwen and I look the same." Rhea tear up, she felt her throat tighten a little. "We're similar."

"No, my dear girl, you two are your own individual person." Quatre shook his head. "You are you and Gwen is Gwen. Do not ever forget that, you are your own person."

"But how?"

"It's a long story…" Rhea chuckled.

"Well, we have time." Quatre took her hand and began to walk down the stony path again. "Tell me all about it."

"Well, Gwen and I met at Camp…" Rhea began to tell her story.

Inside the house Wufei just told Relena that their adversary have made their movement.

"So, they're coming after me?" Relena carefully added the pasta on the boiling water. "What took them so long?"

Wufei crossed his arms. "They spotted Heero in Texas."

Relena turned around, "Heero is in Texas?"

"Apparently, that's where he stayed low with Duo and Hilde the past few years." Wufei answered, "They got a bounty on his head but they want him alive."

"And Rhea?" Relena held her breathe.

"She wasn't mentioned." Wufei said. "The world only knows of one child, that's Guinevere. They don't know anything about the younger twin, they don't know anything about Rhiannon."

Relena wrapped her arms around herself. "What now then?"

"We are initiating phase one." Wufei answered, "Yours and Gwen's safety."

"That means this vacation is over." Relena sighed sadly, "She's not going to be happy…"

"I hate doing this to her too…" Wufei sighed, "Sally, Dorothy, Une and Noin yelled at us when they found out that we're going to escort you home…"

"It wasn't my idea of interrupting your Mother/Daughter vacation but we don't have much of a choice."

"I understand." Relena stirred the pasta so it won't stick on the bottom. "We can leave after lunch then…"

"Trowa and Midi are assisting Heero maneuver the enemies away from Texas without being suspicious." Wufei inform her, "Duo and Hilde are coming with their children, along with Trowa and Midi's kids."

"They'll arrive in Sanq the day after tomorrow."

Relena smiled, "Duo and Hilde, that's refreshing. I'm sure Gwen will be trilled meeting her long lost Uncle, Aunt and cousins."

Wufei snorted. "It's going to be very noisy around the palace when they arrive."

"Don't lie, Wufei, you miss Duo too." Relena teased.

"Shut up!" Wufei barked. "That long braided idiot can't even keep his yap shut for more than five minutes! I'll end up killing him one of these days."

Relena laugh. "I guess, I just have to make it up to Gwen one way or another."

"You're still on vacation." Wufei said.

"I understand." Relena picked up her mittens, "I can just make the best of it for her sake."

Wufei came around the corner, he took the mittens away from Relena and emptied the pot himself. "You need to prepare Gwen for phase two…"

Relena took a step back, lean against the counter and look outside the patio. She can clearly see her daughter and Quatre chatting happily with each other. "I've been giving her little info here and there. She is his daughter after all."

Wufei drained the pasta, he smirked. "None of us expect nothing else. It's drained, the sauce?"

Relena stirred the tomato sauce on a smaller pot, "It's ready…"

"I'll go get them then." Wufei left her and went to the patio, he yelled. "Quatre! Gwen! Lunch is ready!"

"You have to tell her everything eventually…"

"Of course, I plan to." Relena set the table. "For now, let's eat."

Outside, Quatre walked slowly back to the house with Rhea strolling next to him.

"When do you plan on telling you Mom?" Quatre asked.

"I want to spend as much time with her without her freaking out on me." Rhea sighed, "Though I prefer spending it with her as me…"

"Please, Uncle Quatre, don't say anything. I'll do it myself."

"It seem you girls already made up your mind." Quatre patted her head. "I promise, I won't say anything to her or to anyone."

"Including Aunt Dorothy?" Rhea asked.

Quatre laughed nervously, "Now, you're asking the impossible, little Princess. Your Aunt will kill me but I will try my hardest."

"Now, let's go enjoy lunch, hmmm?"

"Thank you, Uncle Quatre." Rhea grinned.

Back inside the house, after lunch, Rhea just got the new that they're heading back to Sanq.

"B-but why?" Rhea looked really hurt that neither Quatre nor Wufei could face her.

"Because your cousins; Christopher, Pamela and Triton are coming home from touring around the world with their parents." Relena said carefully. "Though you're Uncle Trowa and Aunt Midi won't be with them, they're traveling with another couple with their own children."

"You don't know them but they know you."

"Who are they?" Rhea asked, she took a sip of her lemon tea.

"The Maxwell family are friends of mine and your Father, you can say that they're also our extended family." Relena replied.

Rhea almost choked but kept it down, she looked indifferent from the outside but completely freaking out in the inside. 'WHAT?'

"I see, what are their names?"

It was Wufei who answered. "Like your Uncle Quatre and I, Duo Maxwell is also your Uncle, his wife Hilde is your Aunt and their kids are your cousins."

"Susan, Alec and Duo Jr."

"Get to know them, they're a wonderful bunch." Relena said, encouraging her daughter. "It would mean a lot to me."

"I'm sure I'll get along fine with them Mom." Rhea answered, she look at Quatre, "Right?"

Quatre laughed, "You'll be fine, I'm sure of it."

"Just don't pick any weird habit from that long haired idiot!" Wufei warned, "Don't listen to everything he says…"

"Wufei, please, Duo might have matured over the years too." Quatre tried to stand up for Duo. "His a Father after all."

Wufei glared at the blonde man. "Or his immaturity increased because his a kid himself."

'Oh boy, Uncle Duo…' Rhea laughed mentally, 'Uncle Wufei sure knows you well.'

"He sounds fun."

"He is, dear." Relena giggled, "I do hope you forgive me for cutting our trip short but I promise we can come back here before your vacation is over."

Rhea smiled, "I understand Mother. I'm not angry."

"You are not going to work are you?"

"Oh no, I'm on vacation." Relena grinned, "I refuse to go back to work now."

Rhea cheered. "I'm very happy to hear that. We can still have fun even if we have to go back home."

"We can plan a 'welcome' party for them."

"That's a great idea." Relena's eyes sparkled a little, she turned to Quatre, "Ask Dorothy to set it up but we want something fun and kid friendly, family only."

Quatre nodded, he pulled out his phone from his shirt pocket. "I'm sure she'll think of something."

Wufei groaned but didn't comment, he stood up. "I have to call Trowa and see what's the status his in. Excuse me…"

Quatre also excused himself, he followed Wufei out the backyard and closed the double French doors. Leaving the Mother and daughter to themselves.

"Too bad, I was excited to show you around Rome." Relena sighed, "I'm sorry, dearest."

"Don't worry about it, Mother, there's other opportunities for you to take me before summer vacation ends." Rhea smiled at her. "I'm actually excited to meet Uncle Duo, Aunt Hilde and their kids."

"They're a great couple." Relena cheered up a little, "Duo is actually your Father's best friend."

"That's wonderful." Rhea clapped her hands together, "I can ask him things about Father."

Relena smiled. "That true, you can."

"By the way Mother." Rhea asked, "What is my Father's name?"

"Hmm? Haven't I mentioned it?" Relena asked, thinking back if she did or not. "I could have sworn I did…"

"No Mother, you did not." Rhea eyed her Mother seriously, "What is his name?"

"Heero Yuy." Relena answered, "His name is Heero Yuy."

"Heero Yuy." Rhea repeated, "How come I have the last name PeaceCraft and not Yuy."

"Actually, it is Yuy…" Relena admitted, "It's for your own protection that we kept it PeaceCraft, your Father had some enemies out there who are still trying to harm him."

"They'll try to use anyone he loves to get to him."

This is news to Rhea. "Father have many enemies?"

"Heero made many people angry because he support my belief of total pacifism." Relena said sadly, "He destroyed organizations, groups and few elite members of societies to keep me from harm."

"I told you before, your Father was a soldier of war and he annihilate every obstacle to clear his mission."

"My goodness…" Rhea couldn't take too much of it, 'Father's a maniac when he was younger…'

"A Perfect Soldier…"

"That he was." Relena chuckled a little, "That was his nickname."

"Anyway, why don't you go up to your room and pack whatever you need. Your Uncles will be ready to go once they finished their phone calls."

"I wish, we can all come back here." Rhea stood up, "You, me and Father."

Relena stood up as well, she walked over to her daughter and kissed her cheek. "Soon, we can all settle down and be a family."

"I would like that." Rhea kissed her Mother on the cheek as well before leaving the dining room. Climbing up the stairs, she walked toward her door but she could also hear Wufei talking on the phone. Curious, Rhea walked over the balcony and listened in.

"Good, so your guys are on your way there?" Wufei said on the phone. "Trowa be careful, you don't want them to sniff out the little one. They don't know anything about her existence."

"As far as they know, Gwen is the only child of Heero and Relena. If they get a whiff of Rhea's existence, they'll do whatever it takes to get their hands on her."

Rhea have to cover her mouth from gasping. 'What?'

"Get yourselves into safety as soon as possible." Wufei sighed, "I know, we're already here and taking them back home."

"Gwen's not very happy since we interrupted their vacation but it's for her own safety. They're desperate now, Rhea and Gwen are in danger as much as Heero and Relena. Zech is already on the move with Noin and Une with the rest of the Preventers. Stay in contact."

Rhea took a step back, she carefully opened her bedroom door and closed it silently. She leaned against the frame. 'We're in danger? What is going on?'

Rhea rushed toward her desk, her laptop still on. She received an email from Gwen, she read it fast and replied to her email with news of her own. Afterwards, she closed it and packed everything that she decided to take back to Sanq with her. Leaving pretty much everything beside the souvenirs she wanted to send to her friends.

'Gwen, what the heck is going on? Why are we in danger? What sort of people our parents dealt with?'

Rhea took a few deep breaths, calming down her nerves. 'I pray, that you and Daddy are safe.'

With that, she left her room and down the stairs where her Mom is waiting with her Uncles. She smiled, "I'm all set."
