A Wise Man Once Said "Appearances Can Be Deceiving"

Chapter Thirteen

UNLEASHED

Poppy POV

A loud ringing noise cut through my sleep induced fog making me groan. I rubbed my eyes as I sat up before blindly searching for my phone in the darkness of the living room. I let out a squeak as I rolled off of the narrow couch landing on my stomach on the hard wood flooring. Eyes wide I saw my phone lit up and still ringing about a foot from me. Joints popping I reached forward and grabbed my phone, "Scott I swear to God if this isn't something important I'm going to shove a handful of wolvesbane up your ass." I threatened as I slowly got myself into a sitting position and began picking up all of the books and papers I had gathered on human sacrifices.

"It is important, or at least I think it is." Scott said sounding conflicted.

I sighed, "Is it or is it not important Scott? You woke me from the first sleep I've gotten in three days." I told him, rubbing a hand over my eyes.

Ever since Heather was found dead and Stiles told us about his theory I hadn't been able to sleep. Instead I was finding anything and everything there was on the internet and in the library on human sacrifices. If the sacrifices were happening in a threes pattern Stiles, being human, could be next and no matter how mad I was at him, I wasn't going to sit on the sidelines and let him get murdered. "The last customer of the night just disappeared." Scott said.

"Disappeared?" I asked, eyes wide, "You mean like he was taken?"

Scott sighed, "I don't know." He answered.

"What do you mean you don't know? Isn't there some kind of sign of a struggle or-"

"Poppy!" Scott exclaimed interrupting my rant, "His dog and his car are still here at the clinic but he's nowhere to be found. I know that you've been kind of obsessing over this and I thought you should know."

"Obsessing?" I asked as I began sorting my research into three huge piles, "I have not been obsessing."

Scott sighed, "Poppy you've barely slept in three days, you hardly leave your apartment and when you do you look like a zombie." He told me.

I winced, "Ooh, that bad huh?" I asked standing up.

Scott chuckled, "Get some sleep and be at XC in the morning, you are the one who demanded Coach made it co-ed after all. If you don't show up he could shut it down." He reminded me.

I groaned, "Right, right, practice, I'll be there." I said shoving my research into my messenger bag and setting it on the couch.

"Alright, bye Poppy." Scott said before hanging up.

I sighed and tip toed into mine and Allison's room. I silently closed the door behind me and plugged my phone into its charger, "Have you really not been to bed yet?" Allison asked startling me.

I whipped around to face her with wide eyes, "Allie, you can't just pretend to be asleep like that!" I whisper yelled at the huntress.

I quickly changed into my pajamas, "Sorry," She said with a small laugh, "Now go to sleep, I know that you've been pulling all-nighters."

I rolled my eyes but got into bed anyway, "Why is everyone so worried about my sleep patterns all of a sudden anyway?" I asked as I burrowed into my cocoon of blankets and pillows.

"Because Stiles has been driving everybody crazy with asking about you because you won't answer his calls." Allison answered sounding half-asleep.

I yawned, "I don't answer anyone's calls when I'm researching." I pointed out as I closed my eyes.

"Yeah but you let Isaac come over." Allison said through a yawn.

"Because he helps me find information." I said pulling my sheet over my neck.

Allison snorted, "Mhhmm. Go to sleep." She told me.

I heard her roll over away from me and sighed. I rolled over so I was facing the wall and shut my eyes tightly willing myself to make it through one night without dreaming.

I walked into the girls' locker room and went straight to my locker, bouncing slightly as I went due to the amount of coffee I had consumed this morning to make up for the lack of sleep I had gotten last night. Every hour on the hour I had woken up from a nightmare that I couldn't remember. "Hey, look who showed up, our knight in ginger armor." Callie quipped as I set my bag down next to her.

I let out a sarcastic laugh, "Very funny coming from the local caffeine addict." I retorted as I opened my locker.

"Remind me why I'm here again?" The blonde asked me as she tied her running shoes.

I grinned, "Because you love me so much that you'd help me with anything." I said as I slipped out of my jacket and hung it in my locker.

I toed out of my boots and put those in as well before slipping out of my dress and tights, "True but Finstock won't let us run with the boys anyway." Callie told me as she pulled on her running shorts.

Since Coach hadn't planned on having a girls' team we were required to bring our own running gear until the school ordered our uniforms. I changed into a sports bra and pulled on my tee shirt, "What do you mean?" I asked confused before pulling on my shorts as well.

"Coach doesn't think that a bunch of girls who don't play any other sport can keep up with his precious lacrosse players." Callie said with an eye roll, "Not that I'm complaining, Braden has told me what their runs are like, talk about brutal."

Callie had started dating Braden, who was the lacrosse team's second string goalie, around 2 months ago. I tied my shoes and slipped on my sweatshirt, "Screw Finstock, I'm running with the boys." I told her, shoving my bag into my locker, "Think he's still in the boys' locker room?"

"Don't scar the boys too bad, hun!" Callie called after me, laughing.

I marched out of the girls' locker room and down the hallway, almost knocking over a couple of boys. Ignoring their complaints I peeked into the boys' locker room, looking for Finstock instead I got a glimpse of Aiden and Ethan and then Isaac who hadn't noticed them yet. My eyes widened, oh no, oh no not good. I composed my expression before hauling open the door and marching inside. Various 'heys' along with other complaints rang out as I made my way through the groups of half-naked teenagers. As I was passing Isaac's group of lockers Danny reached out and grabbed my arm, "You know you can't be in here Poppy, Coach is already out at the course." He whispered to me as Isaac looked at me stunned.

I restrained myself from giving Isaac a once over and turned back to Danny, "I'm not here for Coach, but I do have a bone to pick with him so you might want to let him know I'm coming for him, okay? Ok." I said pulling my arm out of his grip.

I continued through the locker room until I found Stiles and Scott, "Guys!" I hissed making them jump.

"What the hell are you doing in here?" Stiles asked his voice raising a few octaves.

"Scott, you need to watch Isaac." I hissed, ignoring Stiles.

I pulled my hair up into a ponytail, "What, why?" Scott asked looking concerned.

"He's gonna be pissed off about the twins being here. J-just make sure he doesn't do anything stupid, okay?" I asked letting my concern show, "I don't want him to get hurt."

Scott gazed at me for a moment with an unreadable expression before nodding, "Yeah, yeah okay. We'll keep an eye on him." He promised.

I nodded, "Good." I said pinning my bangs back with a few bobby pins, "See you out there then."

I turned on my heel and walked back through the boys' locker room and out into the hallway, ignoring the stares from the other girls. I walked out to the course to see Finstock rounding up all of the girls and showing them their route. I stuck to the back of the group and watched as the girls ran off, a few groaning, "So Coach, I was thinking-"

Finstock let out a groan, "The last time you were thinking my lacrosse team got a budget cut because you wanted to make XC co-ed." He complained.

I smirked, "Well there's no budget cut involved this time. I was coming to tell you that I'm going to be running with the boys during practices." I said matter of factly.

Finstock let out a laugh, bending over at the waist as he tried to stop, "Oh, you were serious?" He asked straightening, "Fairchild, I don't know if you couldn't tell but all of those boys are at least twice your size-"

"And I'm perfectly capable of keeping up with them, Coach. Haven't you heard of the saying anything boys can do girls can do better?" Coach gave me a blank look and I sighed, "Okay how about this, if I can't keep up with them today then you can send me back with the girls and we'll pay for our own uniforms but if I do keep up and beat at least 4 of them back I get to stay with the boys and the girls get to design their own uniforms." I said rocking back and forth on the balls of my feet.

Coach Finstock broke out in a grin, "Get your checkbook ready, Fairchild, you've got a deal." He said holding out his hand.

I pulled my hand out of my sweatshirt pocket and grinned as I shook his hand, "You might wanna look at some design websites." I said before walking off.

I strutted over to the boys and stood next to Scott, "Your lacrosse team is about to get another budget cut, sorry about that." I told him with a smirk before making my way to the front of the group, somehow ending up next to Aiden.

I saw him look at me and grin before looking to his right. I looked around him and saw Isaac fuming, "Isaac calm down." I said under my breath as Coach blew the whistle.

Everybody took off, me along with them. I glanced over my shoulder at Isaac and saw him say something to Scott before taking off at a sprint after the twins. A group of 5 boys formed a line in front of me creating a barricade as I tried to go around them. Frustrated, I pushed through the middle ignoring their protests as I sped past them. Aiden, Ethan, Isaac, and Scott were already out of sight as I stayed in the middle of the group of runners, holding back to keep suspicions away. "Hey." Stiles said appearing next to me, panting slightly, "Proving a point I take it?"

I rolled my eyes and didn't bother giving him an answer. "Listen there's something you need to know about what happened at Heather's party. I-"

"Stiles, seriously I don't want the gory details. It's none of my business." I said cutting him off.

I lengthened my stride in an attempt to get away from him but he stuck with me, "Then why are you acting like this?" Stiles snapped, "If you really don't care-"

"I never said that I didn't care Stiles, I said that it was none of my business." I cut him off again.

Stiles grabbed my arm, yanking me to a halt and causing us to almost get trampled, "Then why are you acting like it is?" He asked searching my face.

I glared up at him for a moment before finally exploding, "God, Stiles are you that freaking clueless?" I hissed, "I was waiting for you to ask me out all summer and when I thought you were going to you show up at my friend's party and screw her!"

Stiles' eyes went wide, "I didn't sleep with Heather." He confessed just as a piercing scream ripped through the air.

Stiles and I took off in the direction of the scream and came to a startled halt in front of a dead teen that was tied to a tree. Scott and Isaac ran up next to us and I swallowed thickly at the sight of the boy. Who was doing this and why? Why murder innocent people? "It's him isn't it?" Stiles asked Scott.

"Hey get out of the way get back!" The sheriff yelled pushing past kids to get to the teen, "Get this area cornered off before they trample every bit of evidence. Get these kids out of here!"

"Dad!" Stiles said rushing forwards, "Look it's the same as the others you see?"

"Yeah I see it. Do me a favor, go back to school yeah?" Sheriff Stilinski said before turning to Coach Finstock, "Coach? Could you give us a hand?"

"You heard the man, nothing to see here! Probably just some homeless kid!" Finstock announced making me wince as I realized who the kid was.

"Coach." Scott said gaining his attention.

"Yeah?" Finstock asked.

"He was a senior." Scott told him.

"His name was Kyle." I told them crossing my arms, "He was in my study hall."

Finstock immediately looked remorseful, "He wasn't on the team was he?" He asked making me bite my tongue to keep in a remark.

Suddenly a hysterical blonde came running up screaming Kyle's name. It took three police officers to drag her away, "And that's his girlfriend." I muttered as Stiles' dad guided us away from the scene.

"You see the way the twins looked at him?" Isaac asked from my right.

I glanced up to see Ethan and Aiden looking at each other with fearful expressions. I furrowed my eyebrows, what did they know? And who or what could be powerful enough to scare twin alphas? "Yeah you mean like they had no idea what happened?" Stiles remarked only adding fuel to Isaac's vengeful fire.

"Nah, no they knew." Isaac said as he continued to look back at the twins.

"The kid-"

"Kyle." I interjected only to be ignored.

"-was strangled with a garrote. Am I the only one noticing the lack of werewolf-atude in these murders?" Stiles continued to press on.

I bit my lip as I considered the two ideas. Stiles was right, I knew he was. I had been researching nonstop since Heather was found I knew that human sacrifices was what was happening and if a werewolf wanted to commit human sacrifices I doubt that they'd use the threefold death. "So what you think it's a coincidence? They show up and people start dying?" Isaac argued as we came to a stop with our walking.

"No but I still don't think its them." Stiles defended himself.

I sighed and turned my body so I was facing the three of them, "Scott?" Isaac asked looking to him to be the peacemaker.

Stiles crossed his arms, "I don't know yet." Scott said surprising Stiles.

"You don't know yet?" Stiles asked looking slightly shocked that Scott didn't take his side.

"Well, he's got a point." Scott defended, "Seriously dude, human sacrifices?"

"Scott, your eyes turn into yellow glow sticks. Okay, hair literally grows from your cheeks and then will immediately disappear and if I were to stab you right now it would just magically heal but you're telling me that you're having trouble grasping human sacrifices?" Stiles ranted looking slightly pissed off and a little worried about his best friend's sanity.

Scott sighed and looked over at Isaac, "That's a good point too." He said.

I let out a groan, "You want to know what I think?" I asked causing all of them to snap their attention to me.

"Yeah sure, go ahead." Scott said resembling a puppy very strongly in that moment.

"I think that all three of you are idiots for even arguing about this in the first place." I snapped, "I haven't slept in three freaking days because I've been up researching human sacrifices in every culture ever studied to make sure that the people I care about are safe! I don't know who or what is doing this or why they are but it's human sacrifices and the alphas aren't behind it! Think for just a few more moments with me, okay? Alphas have sharp claws and fangs why in a million years would they ever need to use the threefold death to get something done? Huh?" I said angrily, trying not to raise my voice.

The three boys looked back at me in shock and I sighed as they just blinked at me, "You know what? I'm going to class now because you three are infuriating, especially you two." I said pointing at Isaac and Scott.

I turned on my heels and marched back to the school muttering, "Not human sacrifices my ass." I grumbled as I slammed the door to the school behind me.

I was doodling symbols in my notebook, mindlessly repeating the French Ms. Morrell was spouting off while bored out of my mind seeing as I already knew the language fluently. I sighed and my eyes flickered over to Allison. My eyes widened when I realized that she was passed out and Ms. Morrell was walking right towards her in the alley between her and me. "Allison." I hissed lowly, prodding her arm with my pen, "Allie!"

"Mademoiselle." Ms. Morrell said as she picked my notebook off the desk, "Mademoiselle Argent." She tried again, "Allison."

Allison shot up looking slightly terrified, "Es-tu fatigue?" Ms. Morrell asked causing the other student to laugh.

My eyes danced between Allison and my notebook that Ms. Morrell was now clutching, "Sorry." Allison said as the bell rang.

"Mademoiselle Fairchild, you may go on but you have lunch detention for not taking notes." She said handing me back my notebook while still gazing at Allison.

I bit my lip to keep a retort about not needing notes in and gathered up my stuff after a reassuring nod from Allison. I pulled my bag onto my shoulder and squeezed Allison's arm before walking out of the classroom. Allison had told me all about Morrell being there at the bank that night (after I gave her a lecture on what retired meant) and I was overly hesitant about leaving Allison alone with her. I hurried to my next class, just making it in before the bell and managing to get the seat next to Isaac. The beta rolled his eyes at me as I took out my notes, "Are you going to give me another lecture on how wrong I am?" He asked staring straight ahead.

I sighed, "I'm sorry about that, Isaac, I am. I know that you're pissed off about the twins being here, so am I, but you have to play it cool alright?" I said looking over at him with concerned eyes, "Isaac, they're alphas we already know for sure that they killed someone…don't put yourself in danger. Please." I added reaching out and grabbing his arm, causing him to look over at me.

Isaac leaned in closer, "I know that you want to keep everyone safe but Erica is dead and so is the girl that saved me. They murdered them." He whispered as Mr. Harris began his lecture, "I'm going to make sure that they don't hurt anybody else."

"Miss Fairchild, Mr. Lahey is there something you would like to share with the class?" Mr. Harris asked making us both jerk our heads towards him.

I pulled my hand back and slipped it under the desk, "No sir." I said with a small smile.

Mr. Harris glared at us for another moment before returning to his lecture. "They're here for a reason. Give me a chance to figure it out before you do anything, okay?" Scott said from his seat behind Isaac.

I glanced over at Isaac and saw that he had tensed up and had an angry expression on his face, "Isaac." I whispered reaching out and grasping his knee.

I felt him relax slightly and felt a small amount of relief wash over me, "Isaac." Scott whispered trying to gain his attention.

Isaac tensed up again and I gazed at him worriedly, "Mr. Harris can I use the bathroom, please?" Isaac asked suddenly.

I drew my hand back from his knee as Mr. Harris gestured towards the door. "I have to go to the bathroom too." Scott said standing up as Isaac left the room.

"One at a time." Mr. Harris said with a bored look.

"But I-I really have to go." Scott said desperately, "Like medical emergency have to go."

"Mr. McCall." Harris began with a sigh, "If your bladder suddenly exploded and urine began to pour from every orifice, I would still respond one at a time. Is that enough hyperbole for you or would you like me to come up with something more vivid?"

"No, not that's pretty good." Scott replied.

My nose crinkled at the mental picture and Scott sat down dejectedly behind me, "Do you think something bad's gonna happen?" Scott whispered to me.

I turned my head slightly, "In this school? No, no not a chance." I replied sarcastically.

There was a sound of something banging against the lockers and Mr. Harris rushed out of the classroom with me and Scott on his heels. I stopped suddenly as I saw Ethan laying at Isaac's feet with a bloodied face. "What is this?" Mr. Harris demanded, "What's going on?"

Danny rushed over to Ethan while I looked at Isaac in shock, there was no way Isaac managed to do that to him, there was also no way Ethan got into a fight without Aiden. "Are you alright?" Danny asked.

"He just- he just came at me." Ethan said playing victim.

My eyes flickered to the end of the hall where Aiden flashed a smirk at me before disappearing around the corner. "Isaac what the hell did you do?" Mr. Harris asked looking shocked.

I met Isaac's eyes and gave him a confused look, why would the twins set him up?

I walked to my locker and unlocked it quickly pausing as I noticed its emptiness compared to what it was last year. I looked to my left and snorted when I saw Aiden attempting to get with Lydia. "Now they're getting to you." I heard Isaac say to Scott as Lydia walked away from Aiden.

Aiden looked over at me and a smirk crept up onto his face. I rolled my eyes and began exchanging my books. "Let me guess you're studying tonight, too?" Aiden said leaning against the locker next to mine.

I focused one ear on Isaac and Scott as I turned to him, "Yes actually." I said grabbing my Sociology book and my ACT prep book.

"Well maybe I could come over after Lydia's done tutoring me." Aiden said grinning.

I snorted and closed my locker, "You want to come over to my apartment?" I asked with a raised eyebrow as I leaned against my locker door.

Aiden nodded and raked his eyes over me, "Is that an invitation?" He asked taking a step closer to me.

I could practically feel Isaac and Scott's anger radiating across the hall. I heard the slap of skin against skin as Scott stopped Isaac from storming over. I pressed a hand to his chest to stop his advances and chuckled, "Okay one I live with the Argents and two I have a higher IQ than even Lydia so find a new redhead to harass why ya don't?" I said brushing past him.

Aiden reached out and gripped my arm, "Too bad I'm persistent." He said into my ear still wearing that 'charming' smile.

"Too bad I'm not interested." I hissed back, eyes flashing purple at him.

Aiden smirked, "Because of your boyfriends? I'm not scared of them." He said and I heard Scott restraining Isaac.

I smirked and reached down to cover his hand with my own, "But you should be scared of me." I told him as I broke his wrist.

Aiden fell back into the lockers as he glared at me, "See you around." I said with a sweet smile before walking down the hall.

I locked eyes with Isaac to see him staring at me with an unreadable expression. I gave both the boys a small smile before hurrying down the hall and making a right. I turned another corner just in time to see Kyle's girlfriend slap Stiles across the face. My mouth dropped open with a pop as I froze in my steps a couple meters away. A police officer started to guide her away but the girl turned back, "No, he wasn't a virgin." She said before allowing the officer to lead her away as the Sheriff approached Stiles. "Have you completely lost your mind?" Sheriff Stilinski began angrily, "I've got four murders, Stiles. See those men in there? That's the FBI; they're pulling together a task force to help because it looks like we've got a full blown serial killer on our hands. You get that?"

"Yes dad, I get that." Stiles answered.

"Then what are you doing?" The Sheriff asked in disbelief.

"I'm trying to find a pattern." Stiles answered as honestly as he could.

I bit my lip as I watched the two before hurrying to Harris' room for lunch time detention, avoiding contact with both Stilinskis. I walked in and slowed my pace as I saw both Isaac and Allison looking at me expectantly. I swallowed thickly and brushed my hand against Isaac's shoulder as I sat down next to Allison. "You got detention for sleeping, huh?" I said setting my stuff down on the desk and rubbing my hands against my tights.

"Yeah, Morrell says we're at an impasse." Allison responded looking frustrated.

Harris walked in and I crossed my arms glaring at the man causing Allison to chuckle as he handed out punishments, "You really don't like him, huh?" She said giving me a small smile.

I let out a frustrated sigh, "He is the only teacher to ever not like me, and it frustrates me to no end." I growled glaring hard at him as if I could bore holes in his skin that way.

Allison let out a laugh as Harris came to stand in front of our row. "Restocking the janitor's closet and Miss Fairchild if you continue to glare at me I will be very tempted to give you after school detention as well." Harris said with a smirk.

I sighed and turned to Allison who looked slightly afraid. Isaac looked back and a look of panic washed over him as he spotted Allison. I looked back and forth between the two, the last time they were together Allison had stabbed him. I closed my eyes and let out a groan, "Mr. Harris." Isaac said shooting up from his seat, "Um, does it have to be with them?"

"Now that I know that you'd prefer not to, yes you have to be with them." Mr. Harris said.

Evil, evil man. I glared at him as Isaac looked at us with a frustrated expression.

Allison opened the door to the closet, allowing Isaac to push his cart inside as I stood by holding containers of hand sanitizer. I wrinkled my nose as I stepped inside, "What?" Allison asked as I walked over next to Isaac and began stacking the hand sanitizer.

"It smells weird in here." I told her before letting out a sneeze.

Isaac chuckled making me turn a glare on him, "What?" I asked as I stacked more containers.

"Your sneeze is cute." He answered making me turn red.

I cleared my throat, "Thanks." I said quietly before turning back to my stacking.

Isaac began looking around nervously as he made his way farther into the closet I opened my mouth to voice my concern but Allison beat me to it, "Are you okay?" She asked him.

"Yeah, yeah I'm just…not a big fan of small spaces." Isaac answered as he began stacking cleaners.

I reached back to the cart and grabbed more containers, "Can I ask you a question?" Allison asked Isaac.

"Do you have to?" Isaac replied making me smirk.

I pushed up the sleeves of my jacket to my elbows and kept stacking, "I guess not." Allison said, "I'm gonna ask you anyway. Did you tell anyone that I was at the school the other night?"

My eyebrows furrowed, she had asked me the same question after Scott dropped me off that night, "Was I supposed to?" Isaac asked resuming his stacking

Allison gave him a small smile, "It'd make me really happy if you didn't." She said.

Isaac snorted, "Yeah well your happiness isn't a big priority of mine," Isaac said locking his eyes with mine before dropping his gaze back to the cleaning products as a blush rose on my cheeks, "Since you stabbed me…twenty times…with knives. Oh and you also stabbed Poppy, your best friend."

"They were actually Chinese ring daggers but…sorry." Allison said with a small smile.

"Was that an apology?" Isaac said pausing in his stacking to look over at the huntress.

"Would you accept an apology?" She asked smiling.

The door slammed closed and the red lights came on as a thud was heard against the door. I dropped the container I was holding in shock. "No, no, no, no." Isaac began muttering as he twisted the door handle.

Allison followed him over as my eyes raked over Isaac's tense back and shoulders; he was starting to have a panic attack. I swallowed and approached him carefully, "Uh maybe it locked from the outside." Allison offered not realizing what was going on.

"There's something against it." Isaac said as he pushed against the door.

Isaac shed his jacket and it landed at my feet as I tried to catch Allison's eye to tell her what was about to happen. "Isaac." I said calmly, "Breathe."

"Okay Isaac, relax. Isaac, relax." Allison said nervousness creeping into her voice.

Isaac's breathing became heavy and he braced his hands against the doorframe, "C'mon, c'mon." He said quietly.

"Isaac." Allison said slightly louder.

"Allison you're not helping." I hissed under my breath.

I slid my hand up Isaac's back and rested it on his shoulder, "Isaac, concentrate on my voice okay?" I said as I felt his muscles begin to relax, "You're gonna be okay. Nobody is going to hurt you; I'm not going to let them." I said in a low, soothing tone.

Isaac locked eyes with me and I gave him a reassuring smile as I slipped my hand to his cheek, "You're okay." I repeated softly.

"Isaac?" Allison asked slightly louder than necessary.

Isaac's eyes squeezed closed and his muscles tensed up again, "Poppy." He said through gritted teeth.

I took a step back and then another, resting my back against the shelves as he began hitting the door, trying to break it down, "Isaac! ISAAC!" Allison screamed, scared out of her mind as Isaac began screaming and yelling.

I swallowed thickly as I restrained myself from touching him; he was too far into it for me to bring him out someone needed to open the damn door. Isaac suddenly stopped and I pressed myself farther into the shelves as I saw his eyes turn golden. Isaac growled and he turned to Allison, "Isaac, don't." She said in a small voice, "Don't, Isaac, ISAAC!"

Isaac pinned her to the shelves and I took a step forward, resting my hand on his shoulder, "Isaac, stop-"

My back hit shelves hard and I fell to my hands and knees in pain as Allison screamed.

Isaac was thrown out of the door and I looked up to see Scott. I hurried out the door after him feeling the bruising on my back healing. "ISAAC!" Scott roared shocking Isaac out of his episode.

Isaac's eyes and teeth returned to normal as he pushed himself into a sitting position against the wall. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry I didn't mean to do that." Isaac said as Scott revealed Allison's injuries.

"Poppy are you okay?" Scott asked as I kneeled down next to Isaac.

"I'm fine." I muttered as I reached out and threaded my fingers through Isaac's hair, "Are you okay?" I asked quietly as Isaac looked up at me.

The beta gave me a small nod and I pulled his head to my chest, kissing his forehead to reassure him that he hadn't done anything wrong. "I'm so sorry." Isaac mumbled into my dress.

"It's okay." I whispered into his hair, "It's not your fault."

I felt Scott's gaze burning into my back as I stroked Isaac's hair. He was still shaking out of fright and I reached down with my free hand to grab one of his and intertwine our fingers, "You're okay." I said lowly, "We're okay."

"I guess now we know they want to do more than get you angry, they want to get someone hurt." Scott said gazing down at Allison's scratches.

I slowly released my grip on Isaac as his shaking stopped but kept my hand in his, "So are we gonna do something?" Isaac asked Scott, squeezing my fingers.

"Yeah, I'm gonna get them angry, really angry." Scott said with a determined look.

"You remember how to do this?" I asked Allison as she knelt down next to Aiden's bike.

She nodded quickly, "Yeah, just like you showed me." Allie replied distantly as she concentrated.

"Why, exactly, do you know how to hotwire a bike?" Scott asked as I began removing parts from Ethan's bike and handing them to Scott to put in his bag.

I smirked, "Some girls learn how to braid hair, and others watch their brothers work on bikes. It's not like I actually know the names of these parts, I wasn't paying that much attention to them." I said as I clipped a wire so I could pull a bigger piece out.

Scott's eyes danced nervously, "But you do know what you're doing right?" He asked.

I stood up, wiping my hands on a rag, "Yes, Scott, I know exactly what I'm doing."

I looked over to where Isaac was watching Allison hotwire the bike, "Almost done, Al?" I asked

"Yeah, almost." She said through the wire in between her teeth.

I cut my eyes to Isaac, "Are you good?" I asked the lanky teen.

He nodded, jerking his head towards the school, "Yeah go ahead."

I reached out and squeezed Isaac's shoulder causing him to look up at me, "Good luck." I said before leading Scott to the school.

We hurried to class as the bell rang, just making it inside the doorway in time. Scott nudged me and showed me a picture of Isaac on the bike. I grinned and sauntered down the aisle, sliding into the seat in front of Ethan while Scott took the one next to him.

I smiled sweetly at Ethan, "Hey boys." I said giving Aiden a once over and biting my lip.

Aiden smirked and shifted towards me in his seat. His smirk quickly fell as Scott began pulling out pieces of Ethan's bike. "You know I really don't appreciate being locked in a closet." I said crossing my legs as I continued to smile sweetly at them.

"That looks kind of important." Scott said pulling out another piece.

Aiden and Ethan sat up straighter as Scott pulled out another piece of the bike, "I have no idea what this thing does." Scott said with a chuckle.

The sound of a bike roaring down a hallway came through the wall and Aiden took off, "Aiden don't!" Ethan yelled.

Miss Blake stared after him in shock for a moment before running after him. Scott and I took off next, followed by the rest of the class. I tried to hide my grin as I saw Aiden standing in the middle of the hallway with his bike. I walked over to Isaac and smirked as he wrapped a firm arm around my shoulders as Aiden glared at us, wrapping my own arm around Isaac's waist as Scott and Allison joined us. "You have got to be kidding me." Miss Blake snapped making me choke back a giggle, "You do realize this is going to result in a suspension."

I looked to my right to see Scott and Allison wearing similar expressions to mine and covered my mouth to suppress a laugh. Isaac tugged me closer to his chest and I looked up to see his lips twitching as he suppressed a grin of his own. Aiden and I locked eyes and I raised an eyebrow. Take that dickheads.

"Yeah I uh, I wish I could've seen their faces." Isaac said as him, Scott, and I walked down the stairs to the main floor of the school, "They looked seriously pissed." He said as I suddenly stopped.

"Po-" Scott cut himself off as he saw the twins, "Kinda like that."

The twins both took their tops off making my eyebrows jump to my hair line in shock. Um, okay? Aiden plunged his hand into Ethan's back and they began to merge together. My grip on my bag tightened and I took a step back. The twins stood up as one and my eyes just about fell out of my head, holy shit. Isaac dropped his bag and began rolling up his sleeves, "We can take them." He said determinedly.

Scott looked at him wide eyed, "Are you kidding?! Isaac!" Scott yelled pushing me in the opposite direction of the twins and dragging Isaac away as they ran at us.

"Scott! Isaac!" I yelled as the twins grabbed them by the scruff of their necks and held them up in the air.

The twins banged their heads together and threw them down the opposite side of the hallway before turning back to me. "Poppy!" Scott yelled as the merged wolves began to move towards me.

At the sound of a stick tapping the ground the twins froze and quickly pulled themselves apart. A brown haired and obviously blind man appeared and the twins looked down in shame as he approached them. He removed the end of his walking stick to reveal a sharp point before striking the twins across the face with it. I swallowed as he capped the point and the twins separated, allowing him to pass. He stopped in front of me and I stopped myself from cowering back at the sheer power rolling off of the man. "Hmm." He sounded before walking past me.

The twins followed him with their heads still down in shame. Once they were gone I looked over at Isaac and Scott with wide eyes, "Who the hell is that?" Isaac asked eyes wide.

"Deucalion." Scott answered looking shaken.

I swallowed thickly as I gazed after the Alphas, what the hell was that about?

"67.2?" Scott said looking up at me hopefully.

I smiled after glancing down at my own answer, "Good job, Scotty. I think that you're finally getting the hang of Trig." I said closing my ACT math prep book, "You ready for the reading portion?" I asked grabbing the other booklets.

Scott didn't give an answer and I looked up to see him gazing out the window into the storm, "Scott?" I asked snapping him out of his train of thought.

"Yeah?" He asked absentmindedly.

I gave him a small smile and raised the booklets, "Reading portion? Do you wanna do it now or tomorrow?" I asked.

Scott shook his head and smiled, "Yeah let's get it over with." He said pushing away his math booklet.

I handed him his booklet as a knock came at the door, "Come in mom." Scott said as he opened up to the instructions page.

There was a pause and then the door opened. I raised my head to greet Ms. McCall with a smile only to see a soaked Isaac standing in a thin white t-shirt. "I-I was wondering if I could ask you a favor?" He asked.

I looked between the two and stood up, "I'll go get a towel." I said knowing that the conversation that was about to happen wasn't my business.

I glanced between the two boys before leaving the room to ask Ms. McCall where the linen closet was.
