-Dirty Little Secret, All-American Rejects
Hermione was tired as she wandered through the woods. She was shivering uncontrollably as she clutched her arms around her naked body. She was exhausted, cold, and drained. Her trip through the woods had been a lot longer than she had originally intended. She knew that somewhere the sun was beginning to rise on the horizon line. In a few hours she would need to be in class.
Yet all she wanted to do was sleep.
She always hated when she shifted back to her human form. She felt so weak knowing that the amazing power of her wolf form was gone. She barely had enough strength to make it out of the woods, let alone the entire trip back to Hogwarts. She sighed and pushed the thought away as she recognized the path that would lead her to the end of the woods. Her skin was covered in goosebumps as the cold pricked at her. The thought of a warm breakfast made her feet move just a little faster.
The sticks crunched under her feet as she made her way outside. The bottoms were so calloused that she noticed neither the pain nor cold of the snow that blanketed the ground. She narrowed her eyes against the sun as she glanced at the spot in the snow where she had thrown her clothes. Her heart began to pound in her chest once she realized that they were gone.
She bent down and began to frantically part the snow in search of her missing belongings. White dust flew in all directions as she let out a silent moan of despair. If she lost her clothes, she wasn't sure how she would be able to get back inside Hogwarts without raising suspicion. A few feet away she heard the sound of someone clear their throat. She gasped at the sound and looked up. Her eyes locked on those of Malfoy.
"Looking for something?" he asked sneering as he dangled her clothes in the air.
Hermione stood slowly as she swallowed. "Give me my clothes, Malfoy."
"Oh, no, no," he said, the smile deepening.
Hermione growled in the back of her throat before she tried to lunge for her clothes. No matter what, she was determined to be defiant. Draco wrapped his free arm around her, holding her in place as he continued to look at her with the haughtiest expression he could manage.
"Give them to me, you prat!" she growled, scratching at him.
Draco glared at her as she pulled herself free. "You'd do better to not anger me. I know your secret."
Hermione froze instantly as she wrapped her arms around her exposed chest and took a small step backwards. For a moment she thought about running away and avoiding the whole situation. A voice in the back of her mind was quick to remind her that that hadn't been her best course of action so far. She wasn't planning on giving up without a fight.
"W-what do you mean?"
"Do you honestly think I'm that stupid?" Draco asked laughing.
"It's been proven in the past," she said acidly.
His face hardened. "Hermione Granger, the brightest witch of her age, the Gryffindor Princess, is nothing but a filthy werewolf!"
Hermione's eyes were wide. "That's not true! I-I-" She tried to lie, but no matter how hard she racked her brain, she couldn't even form words, let alone think of a convincing way to string them together.
"If it's not, then why are you naked in the woods?" he asked raising an eyebrow. "Is this your way of trying to tempt me into breaking school rules so that I'll be expelled?"
Worry creased Hermione's face. She was speechless. She had been caught in the heat of the moment, and she knew that no amount of lying would be able to save her. A wave of defeat crashed down on her, and she felt as if her life were about to end.
He had backed her into a corner, and he knew it. No doubt he would make it as painful of an experience as he could manage.
I'm Hermione Granger, she reminded herself. I've been through Hell and back. This will be just another scar to make me stronger.
"Wait until the school finds out what you are. Everyone will hate you," Draco sneered as he took a step closer to her. "Forget trying to get me expelled, you'll be exiled!"
Hermione's face broke at the malice in his words and instantly the fire she had kept for so long went out. She hated to admit defeat, but she knew when she was beaten. "Draco, please, you can't tell anyone."
Draco stared at her, surprised that she had addressed him by his first name. He could nearly smell the desperation on her. The look on her face was heartbreaking. Her pretty heart shaped face seemed suddenly pale and fragile as if she were ready to collapse at a moment's notice. If she wasn't a mudblood, he might've felt sorry for her. Instead, he knew it was the opportunity he had been searching for. He could feel his pants tighten at the thought of his (and her) future.
The thought that she wasn't human didn't turn him off like he had assumed. Instead, it gave him a bigger urge to claim the Gryffindor Princess. She had layers of mystery to her, and a complex girl like her would be just the thing to complete him.
"Why not, mudblood?" he asked as he ran her clothes through his hands.
"It would destroy me! I would be expelled from Hogwarts," she said. "I'd be disowned by everyone!"
He scoffed as he looked at her through cold eyes. If everyone were to cut her from their lives, it would only make it easier for him to include her in his. "That's the point. It's about time people start to see you for the filth that you are."
Hermione sighed. His words stung, but she was in no place to respond with anger. She knew her future was hanging on this one moment.
"Why would they let you here, to mingle with the normal witches and wizards knowing you're such a disgrace?"
"The reason I'm at Hogwarts is because I'm a werewolf. When I was a little kid, Dumbledore took notice of me. He knew what I was and knew my potential. When my pack was destroyed, saw something in me that he thought could be useful. So, he allowed me to come to Hogwarts to protect Harry and Ron. McGonagall doesn't know what I am, even Harry and Ron don't. It was a secret between just me and Dumbledore."
Draco was interested in her words. "Now Dumbledore's dead. No one knows what you are. No one can vouch for any of that."
Hermione hung her head, feeling more ashamed than ever before. "No, they can't."
"So Potter and Weasley didn't need their guard dog anymore, is that it?"
She frowned. "No. That's why I was supposed to stay at Hogwarts." She looked up at him through eyes shining with tears as if she suddenly realized how serious her situation was. "You can't tell anyone! Please! My education is my life! I know you hate me, but if anyone finds out, this will absolutely destroy me."
Draco grinned wickedly. He was fully aware that he had her pleading with him. If only he could get her on her knees, it would make the moment perfect.
"Make a deal with me," he demanded through eyes gleaming with triumph.
Hermione swallowed heavily thinking of all their past encounters. They both knew that he could ask for anything of her in that moment, and she would be unable to say no. "On what grounds?"
"I won't tell anyone what you are." He paused for a long moment.
"If?" Hermione prompted.
"If you become my slave," he finished, his eyes running down the length of her body.
Hermione's skin crawled. "There's no way I'm going to do that."
"Then I guess you don't want to go to Hogwarts anymore," Draco said shrugging. "Might as well write a farewell letter to your boyfriends before the bounty hunters come to lock you up."
Hermione bit her lip as she realized the dilemma she had just been caught in. She would rather die than give herself to Malfoy, but the members of the Order were depending on her to provide them with information and to protect them without Harry and Ron.
If she let him spill what she was, it would all be over for her. The life she had worked so hard to build would come crashing down on her, just like that, and there would be no redeeming it, or redeeming herself.
"Suit yourself," he said tossing her clothes at her before he turned to walk away.
Either way the situation would work out for him. If she let him tell her secret to everyone in the school, she would be outed as a werewolf and lose her status as a person and be demoted to property. Then she could easily be bought. If not, she would have to do everything he said.
"Wait," she called after him.
He smiled again as he turned to face her. "Yes, Mudblood?"
"I'll do it."
