Umbridge and her methods Part 3 - The talk

Somehow everything had turned exactly the opposite way Alex wanted it to. All the adults were worried about her, treating her like a small kid, especially Sirius and Remus. The cherry on top was that Remus was feeling guilty about the things Umbridge did to her and Sirius was just angry. She didn't want anyone to worry about her, everyone had more important things in their minds, and a small scare should not matter.

She looked down at that certain scare. I must not tell lies. The words were still there, and the chance that the wound would heal completely was practically non-existent. At least it had stopped bleeding and burning. Besides that, she was not really in the mood to talk to her godfather and honorary uncle. She just couldn't bear seeing Sirius' angry and Remus guilty face.

"Alex, they're waiting for you", Hermione reminded her gently. Alex looked up and she could see that Hermione had the expression on her face when she wanted to say "I told you, to tell someone" . Ron just looked at her sheepishly, not really knowing what to say or do.
"Yeah, I guess you're right", Alex mumbled silently and left the room. She put her hands again in her Gryffindor jumper and made her way downstairs, making sure not to make any sounds, so Sirius mother wouldn't wake up.

When she arrived at the living room, the black door was open a little bit. She peaked through the door and saw Remus and Sirius sitting on the couch waiting for her to come. They were not talking to each other, nor looking at each other. She couldn't she Sirius face but was sure that he had an angry expression on his face, Remus was starring in the flames, which flickered in the ancient chimney. She slowly opened the door and nervously entered the room, looking at the ground. The girl decided to sit face to face with them on the other sofa.
"Hey", she whispered silently and twiddled the ends of her jumper nervously. Remus gave her a small smile while Sirius just looked at her.

"I nearly thought you wouldn't come anymore", Sirius said angrily. Alex flinched a little in her seat and tried to be as small as possible.
He sighed deeply and said softly, "I'm sorry, Lex"
"I'm not angry with you", he announced gently.
She still avoided his eyes and nodded.
"Alex? C'mere honey". He held one arm out for her. Alex felt her heart go warm again moved to him and sat between them and hugged Sirius around his waist, laying her head on his collar bone. He kissed her forehead gently and asked, "How's your hand doing"
"It's alright, I guess", she looked up at him.
"I'm sorry", she said but wasn't really sure about what.
"we know that", Sirius still held her.
"Why didn't you tell me immediately what was going on?", Sirius asked her calmly. "We talked almost every day through the two-way mirror"
Alex tensed up in his arms and he felt that. "Alex, pup?"
"Dunno. I, I guess I just didn't want you to worry about me", Alex said and also looked at Remus. He was listening closely to her words.
Sirius sighed again, " Alex this is really serious – pun not intended by the way – you should have talked to us about it!"
Alex was getting more impatient by the moment, "It is not important! The order is important and there are a lot of other things that are more important than this, Sirius! You have enough to worry about and don't need me to make it only worse!"

Sirius hugged her again to him and whispered, "You are the most important thing in my life, I don't care about anything else, you should know that by now. I want to worry about you"
"I just thought it wasn't important", she repeated nervously.
There was a silence in the room, not necessarily an awkward one but it wasn't either a nice silence.
"You need to be really careful when it comes to Dolores Umbridge, cub", Remus spoke clearly. "She can be a really, really horrible and not-caring person!"
"Yeah, I figured that out", the girl sighed.
"I still can't believe she did that to you!", Sirius face hardened.
"I know, she's a cruel person", Remus added. This is all my fault though, he thought.
"She's going to regret that I promise you", Sirius told them grimily. "I am so going to make her regret this! She's going to pa-"

"This!", Alex said louldly and jumped up.
The two men looked at her surprised.

"Alex?", Remus asked, he still was feeling terribly guilty about what had happened to his niece.

"The reason I didn't tell you anything! Sirius, I knew that you would be angry and you tempt to do really stupid things in that state! I just didn't want Sirius Black to appear in the castle, trying to kill Umbridge, getting caught and sent to Azkaban again ! Therefore I wouldn't see you again!" Alex took a deep breath before she continued.

"And you!", she turned to Remus. "Remus, I beg you! Please stop feeling guilty about what happened! You're a great person and nobody deserves to be spoken about in the way Umbitch spoke about you! I knew that you would find a reason to blame yourself! I just don't want any of you to be hurt", she added the last sentence in a mumble and avoided their eyes.
"Alex", Remus said.
"What", she asked without looking at him.
"I don't want you to be hurt either! So please promise me one thing"
"And that would be?", Alex asked, even though she knew what he had in mind.
"Cub, please keep your temper in check, I don't want you to be hurt, ignore what she says, nobody cares what she thinks, I really don't care. But I start caring when she hurts you!"

"But-"

"No buts! Please sweetheart, promise me!", Remus said pleadingly.

"Alright", Alex whispered and smiled a little at him. He stood up, hugged her tightly and kissed her forehead.

"But thank you", he whispered to her. She just nodded and turned to Sirius.

"Siri?"

"Hm?"

"You're not going to chase Umbridge, are you?", she said anxiously.

Sirius grinned at her. "Maybe"

"Sirius come on! I'm serious!"

"You can't be Sirius honey, I am!"; he said with a big smile.

"Oh ha ha! Very funny!", Alex rolled her eyes. "Promise you won't do anything about this!"

Sirius stood up from the couch and laid an arm around her. "Alright, just try to avoid getting trouble next time."

"Maybe", she grinned but his face turned instantly strict.
"Just kidding", she mumbled.
Remus sighed loudly as he looked at his watch, "It's really late, we all should go to bed"

"Yeah", Sirius yawned, "Just lemme take a look at your hand."

Alex pulled her hand out and showed it to her uncles. "Al least it's healing", Sirius mumbled.

"Alright munchkin, go sleeping, it's going to be a long day tomorrow", he kissed her temple and they gave her a final hug, before she went to her room again.
"It wasn't that bad", Alex thought when she finally lay in her comfortable bed.
