One week later
So far Uther could not say he had seen any signs to say Skylar was evil. So far she had kept to her word, she had not even used her magic once as far as Uther knew, he was still keeping a close eye on her though.
Something was odd about this child and he knew it. There was something about her that changed the way he felt, every time she looked at him or was in the same room he felt at peace, he could see other people did too. He didn't understand it. He had wondered if she was using magic but he didn't understand how someone could keep a spell going for so long.
Uther did not feel scared of Skylar or her magic, he felt curious. This girl had shown up from no where and had so much power right away. It seemed almost impossible. He was however a little worried about her farther, Skylar had told him many a time that her farther had changed but he couldn't believe it, he needed to see for himself. That was the moment Uther made a very big decision, he trusted Skylar to invite her farther and Morgause to sign a treaty, he trusted that the other kingdom was not planning this all along because if this was Cenred's plan then Camelot may fall.
Uther waited with a few of his best knight's, his son and Morgana for Cenred and his men to arrive. Skylar stood by Merlin on the bottom step to the castle.
As soon as the horses came round to the courtyard Skylar straightened up in excitement. Merlin smiled as he saw his sister's face light up, but he was also very on edge as was everyone else about Cenred, a once vicious tyrant staying in Camelot, a place Cenred once would kill anyone for.
The horses came to a stop just in front of the steps to the castle, and Skylar ran straight over to the horse her farther was getting off. Cenred jumped down and gave his little girl a hug. It was the only time Uther and anyone in Camelot had ever seen Cenred show affection.
Cenred then helped Morgause off her horse and she too gave Skylar a big hug. They then walked toward the steps and stopped at the bottom.
"Uther, thank you for welcoming us here." Cenred's voice seemed kind enough but no one could tell if it was just an act.
Uther stepped down and shock Cenred's hand, "My pleasure. The servant's here," Uther pointed to some servants on the edge of the steps, "Will show you to your rooms and help you settle in. If there is anything you need let them know. We will be seated in two hours for your welcoming feast." Uther said.
Cenred and Morgause nodded then followed the servant's along with the few knights they had with them.
"Richard!" Skylar shouted running to one of the knights and giving him a big hug.
"So I see you have manged well young one." He grinned as Skylar playfully hit his arm. "I better follow them, but we can talk later." He hugged her again and then he followed the others.
Merlin and Arthur were the only ones left on the steps now as Skylar walked back up to them.
"Hopefully this all goes well for the both of you." Arthur said. "But I have to say, well done Skylar, you managed to get Cenred and Uther together in one castle under friendly circumstances, something no one ever has managed in the 30 years the two have been fighting." Arthur laughed.
"It's all part of my charm." Skylar joked as she went by and into the castle so see her farther.
Skylar reached the room her farther was staying in and she ran over to him and gave him another hug. He had a servant unpacking his things for him as Morgause was choosing their clothes for the feast.
"I've missed you so much." Skylar smiled pulling out of the hug.
Cenred raised his eyebrow, "Well you didn't have to stay here, you could have come home."
"Yes and then have you not allow me to ever return." Skylar said in a matter of fact tone.
Morgause was still looking through their clothes but her head popped up from the case of clothes to look at Skylar, "Sweetie, we would only do so to protect you, I mean look what happened, if it weren't for Uther's strange change in mind about you we'd never have seen you again. The trouble it would have caused if anything had happened, you don't think about them kinds of things which is why we must make such strict rules. You have yet you grow up and understand all this."
Skylar knew Morgause had a point, in fact Morgause always had a good point, she was very wise. It was Morgause who Skylar had always looked up to, she'd always wanted to be like her. To Skylar Morgause had it all, she was beautiful, elegant, intelligent and yet could fight a 100 men at once. well maybe not a 100. Skylar thought, but Skylar still knew Morgause was very skilled with pretty much any weapon. Skylar like her little family, but as much as she'd seen Morgause like a mother it never stopped Skylar wanting to meet her real mother and Merlin. She had met Merlin and he was so much more than she ever imagined so it made her think about what her mother would be like even more.
"Anyway, I'm not here to set rules for you and neither is your farther." Morgause smiled as Cenred gave her a funny look, it didn't matter how much he wanted to be in charge, when it came to Morgause she was the boss. "Now don't you have to find something to wear tonight? Here, go to the market and see what you can get." Morgause handed Skylar some money and gave her a hug and off she went.
Skylar walked down to the market, it was odd, ever since Uther had released her he would not allow her to forget her title, he didn't allow her to sleep in the servant's chambers or to dress like one and she wasn't allowed to the market without at least one guard protecting her. She had never had this much protection before. Admittedly her farther had been overly protective but Morgause always made him hold back with some things and she knew Skylar could protect herself well, so walking to the market with the guard behind her, trying to act like he was going that way, was odd.
She tried not to think about it as she stopped at some of the stands to see what they had. Everyone in Camelot now knew who she was and they whispered a lot due to her magic and Uther not killing her, she understood though so tried to not let it bother her. People acted friendly toward her so why should she care about their gossip.
She saw a lovely velvet red long dress with a black beaded design around the sleeve's and neck area, it was very beautiful and so she bought the dress right away without hesitation. She then had a look for some jewelry to go with it. There were a few things that caught her eye but nothing she really wanted. Just then she tripped over a log and went flying. He head was about to hit the corner of someone's stood, and hard but someone caught her just in time.
She was dazed from the fall so it took her awhile to focus on who it was as the person stood her upright.
"You alright?" Skylar blinked and looked to the boy in front of her. He was taller than her and had a thick black mop of hair on his head, he seemed quite cute she thought. His eyes were the thing that drew her in though, they were an amazing shade of bright blue mixed with gray. His eyes took her into her own little world.
It was then she realized he was frowning at her, "Oh sorry, yes, I'm fine thank you." Skylar saw the guard behind the boy giving them a stern look, she just looked away and carried on talking to the boy. "Sorry I didn't get your name?"
"Oh right, I'm Mordred, I just moved here." He smiled a cheeky smile.
"I see, well I'm-" Skylar realized this lad had no clue who she was, he might think differently of her if he knew who she was. She didn't want that but if he lived here he'd soon find out. "Skylar." She said hoping he wouldn't treat her oddly now.
"Lovely name, do you live here too or are you visiting friends?" He has no clue who I am. Skylar thought shocked but at the same time happy.
"Something like that." She smiled, "Would you like to go for a ride?"
"You have horses?" Mordred asked.
"No but I'm sure we can borrow some, here follow me." Skylar grabbed his hand and ran, she was trying to lose the guard, it worked. As soon as she lost him she took Mordred and got a horse for them both and rode out of the castle grounds.
"Won't you get in so much trouble?" Mordred seemed shock and a little worried.
"It's fine, I...get on with a few knight's so get away with these things." Skylar half lied.
Mordred raise an eyebrow, "So you do this a lot?" His cheeky grin appeared too.
"Enough with the questions." Skylar smiled.
They rode round for awhile just talking, Skylar tried to keep the conversation about him so she wouldn't have to lie. He had asked her about her family though, she just told him she didn't like to talk about it and so he'd change the topic to things she enjoyed doing.
"I really wouldn't take you for being able to fight." He laughed. Skylar shook her head at him and threw one of her shoes. "Ouch."
"Must have fallen off." She laughed as she hopped of her horse to get he shoe back.
Suddenly Mordred jumped off his horse and pushed her to the ground. "What the?" Skylar shouted as she fell but then she realized why he'd pushed her. There was an arrow in the ground next to where she'd been a few seconds ago.
Men ran from the trees and Mordred jumped back to his feet and dogged one of the men's attacks taking the guys sword and killing him with it. Mordred then fought two other's but there were more. Skylar jumped up to help Mordred, she grabbed one of the dead guys swords and fought a few of the men.
She was so busy fighting the men she didn't see the guy with the bow and arrow behind her, she heard something behind her make a pained sound, so she quickly killed the guy in front of her and turned to see Mordred on the floor taking an arrow out of his shoulder.
The guy who had shot the arrow was running toward them but he suddenly went flying backwards to the ground and didn't get up again. Mordred had used magic, he had magic, Skylar knew magic when she saw it and she knew she hadn't done that so he must have done. She could feel his magic around her now, it was strong, very strong. She looked down to him and he was healing his wound. She watched as it disappeared.
He stood slowly and looked her in the eye, "I have yet to tell you more about myself." Was all he said before heading over to his horse.
"Wait, what?" Skylar asked frozen in her place.
"I cannot tell you everything as it's not time, all I can say is I'm not here by accident, Merlin will soon know." He hopped on to his horse, "Lets get you back."
"You know Merlin?" Skylar still didn't move.
"I know of Emrys and his destiny to make prince Arthur the once and future king, and to bring magic back to the land, and I know you Estora, the bringer of peace, maker of war and yet the evil and love in it's self. You have a destiny as does he, his however is to be made by himself, your shall be changed and shaped by those who you meet."
"What do you mean, bringer of peace and maker of war?" Skylar was begging to be a little frightened of this boy.
"You'll see in time, I'm only here as a side path, I'll help you when I can but there will be times where our destiny's cross." He seemed to know to much for Skylar's liking, "Now lets get back."
Skylar silently got on her horse and they rode back in silence, except for the racing thought's in Skylar's mind.
