I'm sitting on my bed in the dorm room after school, reading over my history notes, listening to some- ugh- Justin Bieber on my iPod. All my Three Days Grace, Shinedown, Nickelback, Three Doors Down, and Adelitas Way has been replaced with icky pop crap. I mean, not all of it is bad; I'm cool with Hot Chelle Rae and Taylor Swift, but the freaking Jonas Brothers? Seriously?

I suddenly get this weird prickly feeling on the back of my neck and I turn to look up at the corner of the room. It feels like someone's watching me. I stare at the corner for a minute, wondering for the millionth time where Minnie, Carlos, Alec, and Chow are.

I seriously hope they aren't brainwashed like the other girls.

I seriously hope they aren't dead.

I sigh, turning away from the corner, feeling slightly confused that the feeling of being watched has passed. I felt the same way at dinner in the mess hall a few minutes ago. I guess I just imagined it since Saya and Elle and Alex didn't seem the least bit uncomfortable and I don't think brainwashing makes you less perceptive but I dunno. Maybe it does. I haven't exactly had the time to research it and I can't very well Google it without attracting attention from whoever is doing this. I'm sure if they can convince an entire academy that we belong there, they can check my search history. Well, not convince. I guess they pretty much just added the same memories they gave us to the other people. The how is what bothers me: how do you reprogram hundreds of people to think four girls belong? The why doesn't make sense either: if they can do that, why don't they just do whatever it is they put us here for themselves? And what did they put us here for? What can four teenage girls do that they can't?

I guess I'm just going to have to figure that out.

Minnie races to keep up with the boys and Chow; it's nighttime and they're rushing to escape St. Magdalena's. Alec and Carlos are carrying a wooden ladder they'd spent a whole day staking out a supplies closet to find. Something about wood not being a conductor? Minnie feels woozy from where Alec had smashed a bat into her head the day before, so she lags behind the other three.

They finally reach the fence and Alec positions the ladder before climbing up to toss a shirt over the barbed wire at the top. There aren't any zombies at this section, so if they keep the noise to a minimum, they should be safe.

Easier said than done.

Carlos ushers Minnie up the ladder, holding Chow under his arm. Minnie reaches the top rung and carefully pushes herself over the barbed wire coil, falling into Alec's waiting arms. "Okay, clown boy, it's just you and the dog." Alec whispers. "Got it. Be ready to catch Chow." Soon enough Alec is grabbing the puppy from Carlos, placing him beside Minnie on the ground, and helping Carlos lower himself down.

"So, what's the plan?" Minnie asks softly as they creep through the darkness to where they keep the SUVs for missions. Alec can hotwire cars. "We get a car, find a boat, and sail to the UK. Easy." Carlos replies. "The UK is really far from here, Carlos." Minnie whispers. "We need a plane and someone who can pilot a plane."

Just then, a SUV jerks to a stop a few feet away from them and soldiers pile out, doing double time towards the gate. Dr. Blake, Cassia's mom, hops out, casually stalking behind the soldiers with an easygoing expression on her face. She looks exhausted; the bags under her eyes have bags. And she spots them. Her eyes lock on Minnie and Chow, cuddled together beneath the undergrowth, and recognition flashes over her face.

She pauses, allowing the last of the soldiers to file past her. The good doctor waits until they're out of sight to jog over to the three injured kids, worry creasing her forehead.

"Dr. Blake," Minnie whispers. "You wouldn't happen to know how to fly a plane or helicopter, would you?"

I finish my homework in record time, so I power up my laptop to see what the Brainwashed Me would keep on her laptop.

There are the normal icons on the desktop; google chrome, microsoft word, excel, powerpoint, trash can, et cetera. The thing that piques my interest is the password protected file called 'The Z Files lol'. I'm guessing that means the Brainwashed Me likes The X Files, or at least knows what the show is about. I try a few simple passwords like my birthday, my middle name, my first name and my birthday, but it's obviously something only the Brainwashed Me would know.

On a whim, I type THEROCKSUPERZOMBIEISHOTZ111. And, guess what?

It works.

There are a few documents in the file, but I start by clicking on the one labeled MISSION. It details how to assemble something called the 'Modified Z Virus'. On the next page, it shows a password-opened briefcase with two layers. The first layer contains four syringes; the second contains four bottles of a murky green liquid. The password is MINDCONTROLMISSION001. According to the document, once awakened the four sleeper agents- which I guess are me and my friends- will inject the headmaster, Dr. Brendan, and two other teachers with the substance. And then, in simpler terms, all hell will break lose.
