Hello Everyone! You know... I've always said a good writer knows how and when to end a story. I'm not saying I'm a good writer... But I am saying this is the end. There will be a paragraph at the end explaining the chapter since it's a little confusing since it jumps in between right after the fight and ten years in the future. But anyway enough talk please enjoy the 20th and last chapter of Lost In Love. -ImKyleConway

It has been ten years, and couple months since the day Hudson had taken Princess Bubblegum into the nightosphere. Since that day no one has ever seen her again, not even Marceline who has since made frequent visits to see her father. She didn't ask her father anything about that day, and he didn't tell her. It was like an unspoken agreement, they did it out of courtesy for the other, knowing discussing it would just cause more fights then they where willing to have, so they remained silent.

Marceline walked through the woods, normally she would just fly over the trees, but for some reason this night she felt like walking, not even floating, walking. She was in no hurry, as far as she cared she could never reach her destination, and that would be just fine with her. She put her hands into her pockets and walked staring down at the ground, she didn't want to think about it so she just counted her steps to keep her mind off it. Every time she did think about it she would start to cry, but she was tired of crying, so she counted steps.

She looked up and saw a small yellow dog playing a viola at the edge of the woods, of course it was Jake. Marceline walked up to Jake at the same pace as before, and sat down with him on the same log he was on. "Hey Marceline" Jake said slowly putting down his viola, leaning it against the log. Marceline just looked at Jake with an almost blank expression. "So it's ten years today huh?" He said putting a friendly smile to his face. Marceline attempted to smile but didn't seem to have the power to do so.

Jake smile quickly left his face when he noticed Marceline's lack of one. "Hey Marceline it's ok, I'm sure he's-" he stopped when he noticed Marceline buried her face into her hands. "I just can't believe it..." She said burying her face even deeper into her hands. Jake stretched his hand over her shoulder in an attempt to comfort her, but it showed no signs of working. They both remained silent, Marceline's legs soon began to feel the drops of her tears collide with her cold skin. Finally she wiped her tears and sat up from being hunched over.

Ten Years Ago:

Four or so candy kingdom nurses rushed over to Finn, pushing his friends and loved ones away so they could clearly assess the damage. One nurse quickly ran from the room, then re-entering with a stretcher for Finn. The sword still came straight out of his stomach, and out is back as well. The medical professionals made sure not to touch it, unfortunately they knew about sword wounds far to much. Sword injuries seemed to be the most common and most serious of all doctor visits in the candy kingdom.

With all of the nurses working together, and the help of Jake, they where able to lift Finn from the blood puddle he was laying in, onto the stretcher. They put him on the side to not put pressure onto any of his injuries. The began to push Finn slowly, to not hurt him more, but then they began to pick up speed since, of course, time is the one thing they don't have. Well, time and a princess. Soon they where on a fast pace to the emergency care unit.

Against the nurses recommendation Jake, Marceline and Kim followed behind them. They knew they where going to be denied access to the operation room, they've been in this predicament before, but they followed none the less. Small drips of blood created a path leading to emergency unit, as it started to drip through the stretcher. They stopped right at a yellow line on the floor, the line that marked the area in which a doctor could proceed but a civilian could not.

The head nurse turned around to scold them for attempting to follow. Yet she turned back around to Finn when she noticed they had followed the rules. She had just gotten so use to the emotional-ness of the friends and family of the ones she treated, it was a force of habit to tell them that they could not enter. Yet Marceline and the others surprising had much knowledge of the rules, and possibly even new surprising... Respect for them. Then before they knew it no one could see the three standing in front of the line anymore, after the doors of the operating room shut behind them.

Present (Ten Years Later):

"Come on" Jake said as he stood to his feet, and then morphing his viola into his body. "Let's go to the tree house" he finished, Marceline looked up at him, he was sticking out his hand so Marceline could grab it and he would pull her to her feet. Marceline grabbed it and he did just that, even though Marceline could simply float up from the log. As they began to walk to the house, Jake began to use small talk so the short trip wasn't so awkward. They have nearly conversed at all for the past ten years. Since the day Princess Bubblegum was taken they kind of went there separate ways.

"So how have you been?" He asked, "I never see you except for a couple times a year". "Marceline looked at the ground as they walked, "well you know, right now not to great..." She said referring to her current emotions, "sometimes I feel like this, but eventually I can usually stop myself." "Oh" Jake said, "it must be hard for you". Marceline looked up from the ground, "No, I wouldn't say hard, just..." She thought for a moment of the right thing to say, "Different" she concluded. "How so?" Jake asked as he walked along side the vampire queen.

"Well, I just got so use to being around him all the time, now I never get to see him". Jake could sense the sadness in Marceline's voice returning. "Hey but it's not all bad right some times it's good?" Jake said attempting to bring her thoughts to the good side of things. "You spend time with him everyday right? At least a little bit don't you?" Jake asked. "Yeah" Marceline said, "under that stupid tree..." He voice trailing off as she finished the sentenced. "That's where Finn wanted to be buried" Jake brought up.

Marceline didn't respond to Jake's comment, she just continued to float along side Jake down the wooded trail. "Sometimes I just really miss him" Marceline said. Jake looked up at her, causing him to frown for the first time in years, normally he always kept a happy attitude towards her, but he couldn't help but feel bad for her. He stopped and so did she, they turned at looked at the frowns on both of there faces and then hugged. Jake expected Marceline to start crying on his shoulder but she did not.

The hug was broken off as Jake looked up at the sky and could see it getting just a little bit lighter. He stepped back from Marceline then said "come on, we got to get to the house before the sun comes up". Then before they knew it and before the sun could catch her off guard they could she the house in the distance. Marceline took a deep breath as she looked at the tree house in all it's glory out in the field. The sun began to light up the area no more then one hundred yards away as they made there way to the house just in time.

Ten Years Ago:

Jake, Marceline and Kim and sat on the waiting room chairs, all in a different position. They waited for a doctor to come out of the doors and give them the news about Finn's condition. One complained about how it felt like they have been waiting for hours, no one respond. The truth is that they have been waiting for hours, but no one wanted to leave. They had the feeling that as soon as they did to even go to the bathroom, or get something to eat they could miss him all together. They where not willing to take that chance, even for a second. Sure the others would be there, but they didn't want to be the one to miss it.

Cinnamon Bun had since come into the room, and he sat down right on the chair next to Jake. Surprisingly everyone instantly forgave Cinnamon Bun for anything he did, since they knew he wasn't smart enough to think for himself, but in a way that's why everyone loved him so much and had no hard feeling about it afterwards, not even Jake. Although Cinnamon Bun was smart enough to not bring it up to Jake or any of the others. He simply acted as if it didn't even happen, or perhaps he just forgot.

Marceline zoned out a bit remembering what Finn said to her right before they where pushed away by the nurses (end of last chapter) "will you marry me?" Repeated in her head again and again. Always sounding like it came from a very hurt and distresses Finn. Marceline was sure that the answer she would give him was yes, but didn't have the chance to tell him. That's when the doctor pushed open the doors to the operating room stepping out into the visitor area. Everyone stood up to hear what she had to say, she had a look on her face of neither happiness or sadness. She just looked at everyone and said "there has been some complications..."

Present (Ten Years Later):

Marceline and Jake walked up to the house and opened the door, they couldn't see anything inside. Jake entered the house first, followed by Marceline. Suddenly the lights turned on a she saw Finn standing with all of there friends, Kim included, underneath a banner that read "Happy Anniversary". Marceline immediately ran over and threw herself in Finn arms, wrapping her arms around him in the process. She looked up at him with the biggest smile, "I thought you forgot!" She confessed to him. He did answer just smiled and kissed her on the forehead.

Before either if them noticed it was a full out party in the tree house. Music was playing there where drinks and food all around, people having fun and socializing. They held there in brace for quite a while as they talked. Then Finn let go and walked to the center if the room, and just like it was planned the music stopped just as he reached the center. Everyone stopped and looked at him, and he looked at all if them. "I have an announcement to make" he said looking over the groups of friends. He paused for a second then took a deep breath, "I wanted to announce my retirement from adventuring". There was a gasp in the room as if Finn just admitted to a murder. "I need to focus on the more important things in my life, things I have forgotten about..." He said looking over at Marceline in the process.

Marceline floated up to him with her mouth open in awe. "You don't have to do that Finn..." She said, "No, I do..." He replied. He looked directly into Marceline's blood red eyes, and then out to the crowd, "when the day comes that people really need me... I'll be there, but until then, I'm all yours", he said with a huge smile growing on his face and he returned to looking at Marceline. Marceline wrapped her arms around Finn one more time as the crowd in the room cheered. The party continued into the day as the sun grew higher and higher into the sky.

The End

Confused? Read This:

Ok, Finn didn't die, I tried to make you think that. Jake said that under the tree was where he wanted to be buried, not where he was buried. Marceline missed him because he spent so much time adventuring, and they only got to see each other under the tree or at home. Just because the doctor says there was complications doesn't mean Finn died, just that they had some issues stabilizing his condition. The reason it said ten years and a couple month later was because Finn and Marceline actually got married, it wasn't a ten year anniversary of the fight or something it was of their marriage. The reason Marceline was so upset in the beginning was because she thought Finn forgot the anniversary. Everything clear? No? Then message me questions...
