Sorry this one is a little bit shorter, but I hope you still like it. It was a request from my girl Brinx to update this one before the other ones.

"I did it Daddy" Beth whispered as she watched the person in front of her have their name called and start to walk across the stage. She smiled as the feeling of love washed over her, knowing that even if she could not see them her family was there.

"Elizabeth Ann Greene" she heard, wiping a tear away and starting to walk across the stage. As she did, she heard the loudest "Go Sweet Pea" and "Love you Beth" coming from the audience and she glanced out, seeing her family and friends standing and cheering. She smiled at all of them, her heart fluttering a little when she saw that Daryl was standing and clapping too.

...

"You did it Bethy" Maggie cried as Beth rushed out of the doors of the auditorium and ran toward her. She flung herself into her sister's arms and they both hugged each other tightly.

"You did it Bethy, you did it! Momma and Daddy and Shawn would be so proud of you" Maggie said through her tears as she clung to Beth.

"Thank you Maggie" Beth said as she wiped her face and pulled away from her sister finally. She flashed everybody a huge smile as she turned to them all.

"Thank you all so much for coming today. It means so very much to me to have all of you here. You all mean more to me than you will ever know" she said, her eyes lingering a little longer on Daryl. She smiled again when she saw the tips of his ears turn red as he brought his thumb up to his mouth.

"Ok, let's go get something to eat and celebrate" Glenn said as he took Maggie's hand and they started heading toward the car. Beth smiled as she watched them start to walk away. She felt so loved, so happy in this moment. Yes she would have loved to have the rest of her family here, but she had Maggie, Glenn, Otis, Patricia, Merle and Daryl and her heart was full with them. She felt more loved today than she had in a long time, and she knew that a part of the reason was because of the two Dixon's walking toward the parking lot. She had heard whispers about the Dixon boys when she was little, but more about Merle than Daryl. She knew their father was a horrible, horrible man. She had heard her Daddy talking about him once, and the words that Hershel had called him and the anger in his tone had sent shivers down her spine. She watched as Daryl and Merle headed toward their truck, Daryl glancing back toward her and nodding in her direction, breaking her out of her thoughts. She smiled brightly at him, and headed toward Maggie's car. She ran her fingers over the wooden sun in her pocket as a wave of determination came over her. Before everybody left from lunch she was going to do what Maggie told her to do and ask him out.

...

Lunch at the diner was filled with tons of laughing and joking. Daryl was sitting beside of Beth in the huge booth they had claimed. Every time he would brush his arm against hers, or his fingers would lightly touch hers under the table, she felt a jolt of electricity go through her body. She caught his eyes when Merle made a really crude joke that got everybody at the table laughing and the grin on his face made her heart flip. It was this half smirk that was so cute she knew it had to have gotten him out of trouble….and most likely into trouble too. She saw something she could not define flash across his eyes as their thighs rubbed up against each other and he had to grip her hands when Merle decided to demonstrate part of his joke and Beth was pushed into him. She could see him tense up at the touch, so she pulled herself away and gave him a small "sorry". He nodded toward her as his shoulders relaxed and she smiled sweetly at him.

"Daryl, can I talk to you for a sec?" Beth asked as they all walked out of the diner. Maggie glanced over at her and threw her a knowing smile as she and Glenn walked toward the car.

"Sure, what's up Greene?" he asked as he stopped on the sidewalk, Merle flashing her a smile as he took off for their truck.

As he stood in front of her, she suddenly got really nervous and shy. She started playing with her fingers and shuffling side to side on her feet. His eyes narrowed at her as he watched her fidget.

"What is it Beth? Is something wrong?" he asked, causing her to stop her movements. She took a breath and looked up at him, which wasn't a good idea either. God he was gorgeous, the sun hitting his hair, causing it to show some of it's natural highlights.

"Um, I was wondering if maybe you wanted to get dinner tomorrow night or something…..um I mean if you want too, ya know" she said softly. Instantly she saw the fear flash across his eyes and he stepped back just a little.

"Um Beth, I appreciate it, but I can't …. M' sorry" he rushed out as he kept backing up. Before Beth got a chance to say anything else he turned around to face Merle in the truck. "Gotta go, sorry" he mumbled as he took off for the truck, leaving her standing on the sidewalk, trying to figure out what had just happened. Had she really misread everything and Daryl didn't want her at all? He had turned her down. She felt the tears start to form and tried to shake them off as she watched Daryl and Merle drive off down the road.

Ok...don't hate me! There is a reason he turned her down...remember there is something happening the next day that is a secret to Beth :-)
