A/N: Finally here is the next chapter. It turns out that I hate homework even more now than I did before. Thank you to everyone who has been so patient. I'm truly sorry I didn't update this when I said I would. I promise eventually I will have better time management skills, but for now they stink. Sorry this is short.
Chapter 17
Evelyne waited patiently at the door for several minutes after she had knocked. It was after all seven in the morning. She had made Kol stay in the car while she waited to talk to Jeremy. That's right they were in Denver. Klaus had asked Kol to keep an eye on Jeremy in case he needed to use him as leverage. But Kol's loyalties didn't belong to his brother, but to his own girlfriend who had befriended nature itself. After a minute or two more the door opened to reveal the younger Gilbert with a shocked look on his face.
"Evelyne, what are you doing here? In Denver?" Jeremy asked with his eyes wide at the sight of the youngest Salvatore on his doorstep.
"What time does school start Jer?" Evelyne asked watching him slowly.
"It starts at eight why? Is something wrong with Elena?" Jeremy asked quickly looking behind him to make sure no one was out downstairs.
"No she's fine but we need to chat, can we chat after school." Evelyne asked glancing to the car to check on Kol.
"We can chat now if you want, I'll just ask them if I can talk to a friend who decided to give me a surprise visit. Be right back." Jeremy said before turning back around to go and ask.
"Ok I'll be in my car, with my boyfriend." Evelyne said before walking to her car and getting in the driver's seat while Kol sat in the passenger seat.
Neither of them talked, mainly because Kol was engrossed in a video game on his phone. Evelyne's hand brushed against the white oak stake they had made on the drive there. Her brothers didn't know where she was and didn't even bother to text her because they knew she would be fine where ever it was she was. Caroline had called her to see where she was when she hadn't shown up for school. Elijah had called Kol a couple times to make sure he hadn't gotten himself into any trouble. Other than those two people no one bothered or possibly dared to contact them.
Evelyne was pulled from her thoughts when the back door of the car opened and Jeremy got in looking between the two vampires.
"Jeremy I would like you to meet Kol, he's an original and my boyfriend. Now where is a place that we could chat?" Evelyne asked as they pulled out of the driveway.
"We could go to the batting cages, not many people will be there during school hours." Jeremy said giving Evelyne directions.
Page break (Basically a scene cut on the show)
Evelyne sat on a bench between Kol and Jeremy at the batting cages. When they had arrived Kol had undone all compulsion on Jeremy. Currently Jeremy was starring off into space while Kol was inspecting a baseball bat.
"Kol would you like me to buy you a baseball bat?" Evelyne asked breaking the silence.
"You would do that for me my love?" Kol asked looking at his girlfriend lovingly.
"Kol you helped invent baseball, it's your favorite sport. You can go play if you want. I'll stay here and talk to Jerbear." Evelyne said causing Kol to smirk and got up to play his sport.
"So what all has happened since I've been gone?" Jeremy asked finally coming out of his daze.
"Well as you can see all of the originals have been set free, their mother tried to kill them and me as well. I had to kill Bonnies mother, I'm still not happy about having to do that. The witch spirits still like me for unknown reasons." Evelyne said looking around and spotting a pop machine. "Are you thirsty Jer?"
"Yeah a little. But what do you mean the witch spirits still like you? Wouldn't they dislike you for having killed a witch?" Jeremy asked walking to the vending machine and getting tow waters with Evelyne right next to him.
"It might be because I only did it because I had to choice to do it. The balance of nature almost depended on me doing it. Not to mention I broke down crying and crumpled to the floor after I did it." Evelyne said before taking a rather large drink of water.
"Thank you for being completely honest with me, and for having him take the compulsion off." Jeremy said as they walked over to the batting cage that Kol was in.
"Well I figured it was your decision if you knew all of this or not, it's not Elena's decision." Evelyne said leaning on the fence thinking about the decisions her family and other people had taken away from her.
FLASHBACK (1930's)
"Alec where are you it's time to go." Evelyne yelled out while placing her things into the car. After not hearing a response Evelyne searched for the younger vampires emotions. She found them but they were soaked in fear. Evelyne quickly went off into the direction she felt the emotions coming from, that's when she felt the other set of emotions. This only made Evelyne run faster, she got there and saw Mikael holding Alec up in the air by his throat.
"Hello Evelyne, it's lovely to see you up and well again." Mikael said lowering Alec so he was touching the ground.
"What are you doing here Mikael? How did you find us?" Evelyne asked while projecting soothing emotions at Alec.
"I decided to come and visit my future daughter-in-law. Unless you and Kol got married before Niklaus daggered him." Mikael said not letting go of Alec.
"No we aren't married Mikael, we aren't even engaged. Now please tell me the real reason that you are here." Evelyne said keeping her eyes on Alec.
"I need you to help me to kill Niklaus, you will get Kol back then I won't bother you again." Mikael said simply.
"I'm sorry, but I can't help you kill Klaus." Evelyne said locking eyes with Mikael.
"Well then I am terribly sorry for your loss," Mikael said before ripping Alec's heart out and speeding away, leaving Evelyne to just stare at the body of her only companion since Kol had been daggered."
PRESENT
Evelyne and Kol drove Jeremy to school so that he wouldn't have missed the entire day; they then went to a sporting goods store and got Kol a baseball bat. After that they went back to the batting cages and took turns with the bat. Kol could tell that something was wrong with Evelyne but didn't say anything about it knowing her temper. He actually knew what was wrong with her; it was the anniversary of Alec's death.
That night Kol made Evelyne sit down and tell him exactly what happened, all he had known was what Klaus had told him. By the end of the night Evelyne had finally cried having not cried about Alec's death until then.
Page break (Skip a day or two)
Evelyne sat with Kol, and Jeremy in a small motel room playing cards and talking about past adventures they had all had when Evelyne had stopped midsentence and told them that something was wrong. It wasn't an hour later that Jeremy got a call from Elena and went outside to talk to her. Evelyne's ended up ringing about a minute later.
"Hello," Evelyne said.
"Oh thank god you're still alive, I was so worried when they told me that Finn had been staked." Damon said sounding relieved, at the mention of his brother and stake in the same sentence Kol looked up and locked eyes with Evelyne.
"You killed Finn, without even knowing if it would kill me?" Evelyne asked almost shocked that her brothers would risk her life like that.
"No Eve, I didn't know when exactly they were going to do it. I was planning on having Bonnie make sure you had been unlinked. But then I was tortured by Rebekah and I'm rambling aren't I?" Damon said quickly to his younger sister sounding worried.
"So I take it you know about the bloodlines now don't you?" Evelyne said in an almost monotone voice.
"Yes we do, how do you know about that? What am I asking, you know almost everything. That's why you told us not to help Esther isn't it. You knew what would happen?" Damon asked in an understanding voice.
"Yes Damon I knew, I know so much stuff that I wish I didn't know but I do know. I know that there has to be at least one original left alive, and one hybrid left alive to ensure that balance is truly kept. I know that you told everyone that it was you who turned Bonnie's mom and not me. I know that she told Bonnie the truth and that Bonnie is actually thankful that it was me who did it. Goodbye Damon," Evelyne said hanging the phone up just as Jeremy walked back into the room.
"I want you to know that if you and my sister both tell me to do two different things, I'm going to do what you tell me to do. You have never lied to me. Thank you Evelyne, and you to Kol. I have to go." Jeremy said grabbing his jacket and leaving.
"Evelyne do you know who the sire of your bloodline is?" Kol asked looking her in the eyes.
"Yes, Klaus sired Mary Porter, who sired Rose, who sired Katarina, who sired my brothers, who sired me. But my brothers don't know that, and they aren't going to know it. Because I won't belong to that bloodline for much longer." Evelyne said with a small smirk forming.
