I appreciate the reviews and the compliments I have received. It makes me so happy and motivated to keep writing. I wasn't planning on writing soon because I have been busy, but I got an urgent request to do so before the 25, and so I did. Enjoy :)
Chapter 20
Please Stay Forever
After I threw myself on top of my fluffed bed, my phone began to sing 'The Big Bang' by Rock Mafia. I lifted it up and noticed that the caller I.D read Stephen. Oh, the joy.
"Hello?"
"Hey, gorgeous, I just found out Mason is back in town." I could sense a smile spread across his mouth, fangs peering through.
"Well, you heard right," I said as I turned my body over so that I was lying on my stomach.
"Did he show up at the house?" his voice became serious. I've never heard this side of Stephen.
"Yes," I said as I twirled a strand of my hair with my left index finger.
"What did he say?"
"Not much, I didn't feel liking talking to him to my surprise," I said with a hint of I-don't-want-to-talk-about-it in my voice. Luckily, he grasped it.
"Well, I believe you deserve to go out and get distracted," he said, mischief back in his voice. I couldn't help but let my lips grin.
"Are you going to try to get me wasted again at that club you're so fond of?"
"Wasted, yes, club, no." My head flinched back a bit.
"Then, where?"
"I know this karaoke bar, and yes, it is vampire infested." I placed my chin on the fist I had made on my left hand side.
"That sounds very appealing," I purr.
"Alexandria Hendrix, are you purring at me?" he asks in his teasing taken aback tone.
"Is that what I'm doing?"
Wow, Alexa, I didn't know you had it in you.
"There's no doubt in my mind that you are planning on joining me."
"There's no doubt in my mind that am." I hear him chuckle lightly.
"Great, I'll pick you up in about forty-five minutes."
"Great." We hung up at the same time.
I rushed to my walk-in closet, which wasn't fulfilled with clothing. I walked deep into the spacious room to find a pair of moto white Baxter skinny jeans. I then walked to the side where a couple of dressy shirts were hanging. My finger tips came across a coral, flowing, racerback tank top. I pulled of the hanger and proceeded to the shelf with different type of shoes from sporty to high heels. My eyes fell on a pair of light caramel fudge, 4.9 inch heel wedges, with interlocking straps on the front and a buckle ankle strap to the side. My eyes smiled.
After I got dressed, I split my already straighten hair in half, along with my bangs. On both sides, I used a wand to make one thick, loose curl with all the hair on that side. On both sides of my bangs, I sort of flipped the ends inward to each other. After that, I proceeded to do an intense cat eye on the top of my eye-lid with a black liquid eye-liner. With a black pencil eye-liner, I traced half of my bottom water-line. Then, I brushed my eye-lashes with black mascara from that one commercial where this blonde girl says get the London look. All I know is that it's an intense eyelash curler.
I took a good look in my body length mirror and it felt like I was missing a touch to my outfit.
Jewelry!
Right!
I went over to my wooden dresser where I had little jewelry hanging about. I chose a gold-tone ring with a large coral stone face. Next, I chose a gold-tone 3 bangle brass set and pushed my left hand through them.
You look smokin'! Stephen would definitely want to attack you at the instant he lays eyes on you!
I smirk into the mirror. After a couple of minutes, my phone vibrates.
I'm outside.
I close my eyes and picture the front porch steps of the house. I open my eyes, and right before me is Stephen's midnight black Dodge. I open the door eagerly and step inside. The door shuts softly, the engine roars as he presses the accelerator pedal.
Have fun!
"You. Look. Stunning!" he says in staccato.
"Thanks, you're looking good yourself." He really was. He had on soft, black skinny jeans that weren't too tight. He wore white, linen; button up collar shirt, the top button unscrewed, and a red, velvet tie hanging loose around his neck. His hair was still damp and fell loosely over his eyes. He even smelled intoxicating, warm and sweet, but he added sourness to it.
He drove into a group of trees on top of a minimized hill. He pulled up into a lot were other expensive cars rested like horses tied to a log. He came around the hood of the car to open the door for me.
"Quite the gentleman I see, Mr. Knight," I smirked. He returns the favor.
"There's a reason my last name is Knight, Ms. Hendrix." He took a hold of my hand and pulled me into an open, snow-white covered building. As soon as we entered, I heard the screeching of a cat come from the stage. That poor guy was trying too hard to hit the high note, but then again he seemed tipsy.
"So, what is this exactly?" I ask Stephen as we took a seat on an L-shaped, blood-stained sofa.
"This is where vampires get to explore their talents while being fucked up. The more alcohol you have infesting your bloodstream, the more courage you have to explore your inner self."
"You want me to explore my inner self?" I lifted my left eyebrow at him. He returned a sweet smile.
"It can probably help you once you're sober and training to fight against your father." I cringed when I heard him say your father. I didn't really feel like exploring myself, but I did feel like getting fucked up.
"What's number one on the menu?"
"Eager, I see," he chuckled. He then signaled to a waiter and whispered something into his ear. The waiter nodded and headed to the bar. He came back with two heavy, cylinder, midnight blue, glass cups. I took a sniff of the drink and a bit of sourness infected my nostrils. I took a sip, the liquid rolled down the back of my throat, and I felt it settle in my bladder. The taste was intoxicating, yet satisfying.
"Mmmm," I said with eyes closed.
"I figured you'd like it." He takes a subtle sip from his glass.
"Do you sing?" I asked him, my head cocked to my right.
"Once in a while, but I prefer singing in the shower."
"Ah, yes. The bathroom has an amazing acoustic sound feedback." I took a bigger sip from my cup.
"Do you sing?" I shook my head.
"The only times I did was with my grandfather." I smiled at the thought of him banging on the island counter as if it were his personal drum.
"Do you miss him?" There was that seriousness in his tone again.
"Very," was all I managed to say. Another sip for Alexa.
"What would you guys sing?" I thought back to the time he sang "My Girl' by The Temptations.
"About almost anything that fitted the mood of the day."
"Was he good." I heard my grandfather's bass tone.
"Occasionally," I muttered when I took an even bigger sip.
"Are you good?" I smiled and chugged my drink.
"Ask me after a few more drinks." He grinned.
"You want another one?"
"Yes, please." He gestured to the waiter and he came back with the same drink. At this point, I didn't care to find out the name of the drink. I was curious to why Stephen had turned to this serious side of him. Was he actually trying to get to know me? Question was would I let him?
If he was actually serious about having some sort of relationship with me, would I respond with the same feelings? If I did, what would happen between me and Mason? Mason is my soul-mate, even though he makes it complicated, but I feel the need to be with him. If it's need, then do I really want him? I mean, there's this other amazingly, good-looking guy that actually seems like he is interested in me without the whole trying to read my mind game. But, then again, Stephen does seem to just want some piece of my ass. Err.
"You want to go dance?" Stephen interrupted my reverie. I turned to look at the people jumping around to the singing of two guys that were totally hammered. Well, I did come with him to have some fun.
"Sure," I said as I took his hand. Suddenly we became in sync with the wave of the bodies around us. I jumped around, swinging my arms back and forth, my chest rising every time my arms went a different direction. I whipped my hair around, not caring that the curls became even looser. I felt Stephen's strong hands pull me into him from my waist. We began to sway in unison. His lips traced my neck, and I felt the tip of his tongue caress it in an upwards downwards stroke. I won't lie, it was hot! He then kissed the side of my neck.
After the guys came down from the two-step stage, we headed back to our sitting area. I got a hold of my drink and chugged it down to the last drop. When I let my head fall, I felt dizzy.
"You are such a lightweight." I placed my index finger on his lips.
"May I remind you, Mr. Knight, that I am still half-human. Obviously, these drinks have twice the alcohol because a regular alcohol beverage doesn't affect you." I then let my finger slip of his lips.
"Indeed, you're right, Ms. Hendrix."
"Care for another?" I nodded in excitement. He beamed his white teeth at me.
We both sat real close to each other, and when I say close I mean my left leg was over his left leg while my head rested on his chest and my arm across his stomach. We sat that way through a couple of songs. Some vampires weren't bad; some made me wonder how they sounded sober. There was this one tall, slim, blonde that wore a red strapless, body tight, dress with black stilettos. She had a sweet alto voice, yet there was sadness behind it. There was a short brunette, that couldn't stay with the rhythm; it's as if she was having this competition of who can sing faster. The other entire one's seemed to slur through the entire song, it made me sleepy.
I felt a bit more relaxed after three drinks. Stephen believed it was time to explore. He made his way to the stage, and I waited, slouched on the sofa ready to hear him make the vampirettes go wild. What came after that, I was surprised. His hidden talent was also rapping. He went up the stage and rapped J Cole's song, 'Dreams'. The song basically talks about the girl of his dreams, and how he always has crushes on girls he can never have, but that when the girl gets tired of her man, that she should remember he's a fan of her and that he would be waiting. He picked this song on purpose. My tummy grew butterflies, but not the good kind. I sat up straight when he made his way back.
"So, what do you think?" He has this goofy grin on his face.
"I didn't know you like rap," I whispered.
"I didn't either, until I came here one day with a buddy, totally wasted, and it came like second nature to me. That's what I mean about exploring your talents. You should go up." I shook my head uncontrollably. I was never that good at singing because every time I sang, I sounded like a freaking mice.
"Come on, nobody is going to judge you, believe me. You'd be surprised to what you find hidden within you. It doesn't have to be necessarily a talent, it could be a thought or emotion," his voice was soft. I liked this side of him. I nodded involuntarily.
"Alright," he sounded excited as he pulled me to the side of the stage where there was a song book.
"Knock yourself out. I'll be waiting at the sofa." He placed a tender kiss on my cheek, then winked, and left me to my demise. I strolled down the book and without thinking, pointed to a song. The DJ nodded and handed me the microphone. The light was incandescent; I could hear murmurs from conversations that were all over the place. By then, the music came on, and I was lost in a trance.
"Right right, turn off the lights,
We're gonna lose our minds tonight,
What's the deal, yo?
I love when it's all too much,
5am turn the radio up
Where's the rock and roll?
Party Crasher,
Penny Snatcher,
Call me up if you want gangster
Don't be fancy, just get dancy
Why so serious?" After that verse, suddenly my hands became loose, my body began to dance to the rhythm, and all of a sudden vampires were up on their feet getting into it as well.
"So raise your glass if you are wrong,
In all the right ways,
All my underdogs,
We will never be never be anything but loud
And nitty gritty dirty little freaks
Won't you come on and come on and raise your glass,
Just come on and come on and raise your glass
Slam, slam, oh hot damn
What part of party don't you understand,
Wish you'd just freak out (freak out already)
Can't stop, coming in hot,
I should be locked up right on the spot
It's so on right now (so f* on right now)
Party Crasher,
Penny Snatcher,
Call me up if you want gangster
Don't be fancy, just get dancy
Why so serious?" After that part of the song, I jumped off the stage and began running around. The feeling was exhilarating. My hair slapped my cheeks every time I moved, this was liberating. I was in control. I was feeling the words. This was what I felt at that moment. I felt like being a normal teen trying to break the rules, rebel like it has to be. No one could stop this feeling. That was until the song ended, and I ran into a hard chest that growled down at me.
I lifted my eyes to look up at the person who had ruined the moment, and they went wide. Mason stood tall before me, eyebrows scrunched together, and then they made their way to Stephen, who was standing tall, hands behind his back, cool and collected. Mason made his way toward him, and I knew he did not come here to talk. I rushed to stand before Stephen, hoping that prevented Mason from throwing the first punch.
"Move, Alexa," he sneered.
"No, " I said courageously.
"Alexa," he pushed.
"We're just having some fun," I slurred as my hands awkwardly moved around in mid-air. I was becoming very tipsy.
"Are you drunk?" he said exhausted.
"I'm not drunk, just a bit tipsy," I said, showing the size with my thumb and index finger.
"Those are totally different things. If I were drunk, I wouldn't be cautious to my surrounding, but I am," I defended.
"Why did you come here in the first place?" he asked a bit calmer.
"I needed to have some fun, get distracted. Live a little. Stephen invited me to go out to have a good time, and I was not going to let him down. And quite frankly, I do not regret it."
"If it was distraction you needed, you should have come to me," he sounded offended.
"Psshh, you're the first thing I wanted to get away from," I said involuntarily. I saw the pain in his blue-green eyes. I regretted that part instantly.
"Mason," I sighed. He lifted his hand to stop me from saying anything else.
"I was worried when I didn't find you in the house. You left your phone on the bed, so I thought someone had taken you. I called Kayla to see if she saw anything to do with you, and that's when I find out you're in a secluded place with a hundred percent full vampires around you, how do you think I would react? And, now you're practically drunk and with him!"
"Now you care?" I said angrily. He ran his finger through his messy hair.
"How many times must I apologize?"
"Sorry doesn't always fix everything, Mason!" He looked away from me.
"Fine, I'll leave you alone with him. Do whatever you want with him!" He turned around to walk-away. I could not have that! I reached my boiling point.
"Mason Hastings!" I shrieked. The room went silent. He stopped in his tracks. I rushed to the DJ booth and told him to play the track.
"You change your mind
Like a girl changes clothes
Yeah you, PMS
Like a bitch
I would know
And you over think
Always speak
Cryptically
I should know
That you're no good for me
Cause you're hot then you're cold
You're yes then you're no
You're in then you're out
You're up then you're down
You're wrong when it's right
It's black and it's white
We fight, we break up
We kiss, we make up
(you)You don't really want to stay, no
(but you)But you don't really want to go-o
You're hot then you're cold
You're yes then you're no
You're in and you're out
You're up and you're down" By this time, I was making my way towards him.
"We used to be
Just like twins
So in sync
The same energy
Now's a dead battery
Used to laugh 'bout nothing
Now your plain boring
I should know that
You're not gonna change
Cause you're hot then you're cold
You're yes then you're no
You're in then you're out
You're up then you're down
You're wrong when it's right
It's black and it's white
We fight, we break up
We kiss, we make up
(you)You don't really want to stay, no
(but you)But you don't really want to go-o
You're hot then you're cold
You're yes then you're no
You're in and you're out
You're up and you're down" I began to walk around him, taunting him, trying to condescend him from the many times he had done it to me.
"Someone call the doctor
Got a case of a love bi-polar
Stuck on a roller coaster
Can't get off this ride
You change your mind
Like a girl changes clothes." After the song ended, everyone began to clap. Mason, got a hold of the microphone and made his way to the DJ booth. I twirled around, stunned, curious to what he had to say.
"Stay for tonight
If you want to, I can show you
What my dreams are made of
As I'm dreaming of your face
I've been away for a long time
Such a long time
And I miss you there
I can't imagine being anywhere else
I can't imagine being anywhere else but here
How the hell did you ever pick me?
Honestly, 'cause I could sing you a song
But I don't think words can express your beauty
It's singing to me:
How the hell did we end up like this?
You bring out the beast in me
I fell in love from the moment we kissed
Since then we've been history
They say that love is forever
You're forever is all that I need
Please stay as long as you need
Can't promise that things won't be broken
But I swear that I will never leave
Please stay forever with me
(If you want to, I can show you.)
(If you want to, I can show you.)" He made his way towards me, smoothly.
"It goes to show, I hope that you know that you are
What my dreams are made of
And I can't fall asleep
I lay in my bed awake at night
And I'll fall in love, you'll fall in love
It could mean everything, everything to me
Oohh This could mean everything to me
They say that love is forever
You're forever is all that I need
Please stay as long as you need
Can't promise that things won't be broken
But I swear that I will never leave
Please stay forever
The way that we are
Is the reason I stay
As long as you're here with me
I know I'll be ok." He cupped my chin with his left hand. He then placed his forehead against mine. We were so close to each other. The electricity between us grew stronger, it never left. This was where I belonged. But, why did he make it so difficult? All I wanted to do was fall into his arms. The lyrics sunk into my head. But I swear that I will never leave Please stay forever.
After the song ended, he brushed my cheek. I didn't realize that I had shed a tear. Next thing I knew, I was being electrified as his lips caressed mine. He brushed against them, softly, slowly, like we actually did have forever. I kissed him back. I pulled him into me. this was his way of fighting for me, and I loved it.
He pulled away as I tried to catch my breath. His eyes gazed into mine, and I became lost. There they were the butterflies in my stomach, the good kind.
You're such a helpless romantic!
"Please stay forever," he whispered, and all I could do at that moment was kiss him again.
