Chapter 20: The Truth comes out

Lara and Kurtis run in the halls down with guns held high. They heard the gunshot again and run to the main hall to find Liz on the ground clenching her stomach. Lara run to her as Kurtis looked around to make sure the coast was clear.

"What happened?" Lara asked in a soft voice

"He is here" Liz said with a broken voice.

"Who and what does he want?" Lara asked.

"Karel, he knows who the General and the Amazonian are." Liz answered coughing blood

"Liz stay with me, where is Karel now?" Lara asked

"He went down stairs to the lower levels. Lara you must look out he wants the Amazonian dead and will do anything to kill you and Kurtis." Liz breathed heavy "Lara please, do me a favour"

"I'll do anything" Lara said

"Take me home where the flowers bloomed and where my love for my work started that I can rest in peace."

"Liz you're not dying on me now!" Lara said

"Lara my time has come, I played my part now it's over and…" she caught more "it's up to you and Kurtis to save this world from Karel so please promise me you'll take me there."

Tears started forming by Lara's eyes and Liz took her hand "Thank you Lara" Liz said and she took her last breath and she stopped breathing. Lara closed her eyes and looked up at Kurtis as he shook his head.

"No sign off Karel, Lara." He said "I'm sorry about Liz." He came to Lara patting her on the shoulder.

"Me too, I didn't want her of all people to die." Lara answered and stood up.

"Where is the place she talked about?"

"The flowers she talked about are her favourite flower, the Middlemist red flower and she who grow up in London where we meet, she had come along with me and my father on digs and our first dig together was in New Zealand."

"Why was her favourite flower the Middlemist Red?"

"Her father was a Gardener and he travelled to all the countries helping the plants and flowers that where almost extinct. She went with her father to a greenhouse garden where some off this rarest flowers where and fell in love with that flower. "

"I see, so we must take her to?" Kurtis asked still confessed.

"To London where it all began." Lara said

Before Kurtis could answer they both ducked when an energy bolt came to their direction. Kurtis got up quick and looked at Karel. Lara also stood up but she felt a strange pain in her body and she fell down. Karel laughed as Kurtis went to her side still looking at Karel but he was a little worried about Lara

"Now only the Amazonian will go down on her knees when she has come face to face with her destiny." Karel said "And her knight and shining hero, the General will try and help her as the enemy stands inches away from them."

Kurtis and Lara looked up at Karel who had just spoken. Kurtis stood up his hands starting to glow.

"What are you talking about?"

"Oh so you don't know yet." Karel said with an evil smile. "Your friend her, she found out the truth about you to an hour ago. The truth that Kurtis is the General and Lara the awakened Amazonian."

"How can it be me?" Lara asked

"Your destiny started together in Paris, Kurtis didn't know you but he knew you would help him finish this war, how because only the General will find the Amazonian an expected and when you read the previous Amazonian's prophesy she had made the people write before she died you awakened the Amazonian in Lara. The greatest Lady warrior in the world."

Lara stood up now and got her gun out angry and upset. Karel killed another friend of hers and she wasn't happy about it. This world had taken too much from her, since the Yamatia trip that took the life of so many until now she was done and started yelling something in Latin and made Karel's ears hurt making him vanished. Then she fell on the ground, making Kurtis run to her side again feeling for a pulse he found one. He looked for Karel but he was gone.

Later that day, Lara woke up with a headache and looked around seeing that she were in the medical room. She started getting up and thought back to what happened. She had lost it; she had gotten so angry that she passed out but where Kurtis were and what happened to Karel. Lara jumped of the bed and run out the room into the hall and she run to find Kurtis to see if he were alright. She found him the room with big screens and table like TV.

"Hey you're awake." Kurtis said

"Where's Karel?" She asked in anger.

"Calm down, his gone for now." Kurtis said walking to her and giving her a hug she accepted it.

"His gonna pay for this, all of this" Lara said.

"We'll make sure he pays, Lara. I promise you. It's a Lux oath" Kurtis said

Lara smiled "Thanks"

"Where heading to the Amazon Jungle tonight." Kurtis answered letting her go.

"Then we need to start packing" Lara answered.

"Lara if what Karel said is truth then there is high risk you won't make it out alive." Kurtis said sitting down.

"What do mean?" Lara asked concerned

"Lara there's something I haven't told you yet." Kurtis said "And without the crystal you won't get out alive."

"Go on" Lara said standing with her hands on her hips.

"The previous Amazonian Lauren died fighting to save this world before and she didn't have the crystal she had gotten from the angels that can protect her from the evil spirits that came out into the world when the Nephilim Karen won the war, Lauren found the weapon and went after Karen and they fought until he stabbed her in the stomach and she used her last breath to Kill him."

"So what does this crystal do?" Lara asked

"It protects the Amazonian from get hurt when she is fighting against a Nephilim or Demon. " Kurtis answered.

"How those Crystal look like and where last did she have it?" Lara asked

"The crystal looks like a bird, a budge crystal statue. She lost it somewhere in Africa never to be seen or heard of again." Kurtis sighed.

"Kurtis then how did it end up in Lauren's tomb?" Lara asked and Kurtis frowned at her. She saw this took her backpack and took out the crystal. Kurtis' mouth dropped.

"Where did you find that?" Kurtis asked

Lara smiled knowing this battle is in their side. "In her tomb when we separated I fell in a chamber and fought with skeletons and fell over this little object. I picked it up and the skeletons unanimated themselves for no reason."

"IT's the crystal's powers. Like I said it protects the Amazonian and only the Amazonian." Kurtis took a deep breath "it is you and I am the general."
