Chapter 20
Sin is Jecht!
Zanarkand was on the other side of the mountain. I didn't want to go. I didn't want to lose Auron or Yuna.
"It is as I thought." he said suddenly.
"What is?" I asked.
"Yevon is in turmoil. Mika tries to keep it whole but it crumbles around him." he said.
I smirked.
"I couldn't care less what happens to Yevon. After everything its done to me." I said.
He put his hand on my shoulder.
"I know. Because you never believed in the teachings. To those who truly did believe….a time of much pain is coming."
I nodded. I didn't want other people to be in such pain. Not even the ones who had hurt me. I didn't wish any ill will on them.
"Ten years ago, I looked up at Mount Gagazet like we are now. All I could think if was how….how I might keep Braska alive. So that he could go home to you and Yuna." he told me.
I sighed and shook my head.
"You tried Auron. That's all I could have ever asked." I whispered.
I closed my eyes and looked at the ground.
"Amahy look at me." he said.
I slowly looked up at him and he leaned down to kiss me. He no longer seemed to care that other people were around us. I smiled into the kiss and then we all began our climb up the mountain. Our way was barred again by Biran and Yenke.
"Haven't you gut bothered us enough?" Tidus asked in a frustrated tone.
"Summoner may pass, guardians may pass. Kimahri not pass!"
"Forget his people, forget his mountain. Little Ronso! Weakling Ronso!" Yenke added.
I tried to go forward but Auron and Lulu stopped me.
"Mountain hate the weak, hate the small. If you will climb…"
"Then I must prove my strength." Kimahri said.
"Think you will win? You not forget who took your horn! Never forget!" Biran said.
"You broke his horn!?" I roared.
They ignored me.
"Kimahri never beat brother Biran! Never win!"
"This time I win! I will win!" Kimahri said.
"Why you…ugh!"
Kimahri pushed Tidus back.
"This some kind of Ronso thing?" He asked.
"Kimahri problem."
"You can do it Kimahri!" I said.
And he did! He fought Biran and Yenke and he won! I smiled and the two Ronso looked at him.
"Strong is Kimahri. Biran is happy. Sacred Mount Gagazet! I honor the name of strong warrior who defeats Biran. Remember always, Gagazet! That name is Kimahri!"
I smiled and Auron took my hand.
"Mountain knows Kimahri is strong! Kimahri may pass."
"Summoner! We Ronso will stop pursuers from temple." Biran told us.
"Truly!?" Yuna asked.
"Penance for breaking Kimahri's horn long ago." he said.
"We crush enemies following behind." Yenke said.
"Kimahri crush enemies standing before." Kimahri said.
You are most fortunate Summoner."
"Thank you." Yuna said.
She bowed and I leaned into Auron. He wrapped his arm around me and I smiled at him.
"She is just like your father. Kind, loving and brave. She is soft spoken and she follows her heart. Much like you do." He told me.
I nodded. She was more like out father I thought. But some people close to me said I was more like him.
"Ronso will shine your statue brightest!" Yenke said.
"Thank you. But I fear no one will make a statue for a traitor such as I am." she said.
"Then Ronso will make!" Biran stated.
"With grand horn on head!" Yenke agreed.
I chuckled and so did Auron.
"That….would be wonderful!"
As we started to walk again, Yenke and Biran appeared once more.
"Summoner Yuna!"
"What is it this time?!" Tidus asked frustrated.
They began to sing the Hymn of the Fayth. Soon more Ronso joined them and I smiled again. When they finished something caught my eye. I turned and picked up an old Sphere. I picked it up and played it back. I saw my father, with Auron and Jecht in the background.
"Yuna, Amahy, I hope you're well. I wonder how old you are now watching this. You are both most likely very beautiful like your mother. I know Amahy will have taken very good care of you Yuna. Oh by the way, Jecht and Auron send their regards. Auron says he will be back soon Amahy. So far our journey has been very entertaining so to speak. Especially with Jecht's Shoopuff incident." I chuckled. "Of course it is a hard journey, I have no regrets about the path I have chosen. I know you're very angry with me Amahy, but I hope you understand I'm doing this for you. So that everyone, especially you and Yuna can have a safer life. Yuna, when you have grown you will have to find your own path, and you as well Amahy. Do what you must do the way you want to. Doors will always open themselves to those who do. Listen close Yuna, Amahy, your future is yours to make. Live the way you want to. Whatever way that may be you both have your father's full support. Yuna, Amahy….I will always be with you."
He disappeared and I sighed.
"I remember when he made that."
I turned and found everyone standing behind me. I stood up and walked over to Yuna.
"Here Yuna. It's yours….I have no use for it." I said.
"But Amahy…."
I held up my hand and then walked away. Auron soon caught up to me and I stopped.
"I know what you would say. Please Auron, just…."
He walked up and put his arms around me. He didn't say anything, he just held me. Tears welled in my eyes and a few of them fell. He turned me to face him and he wiped away my tears and smiled a bit.
"I know it's hard. You'll never have to be alone in this." He whispered.
I hugged him tightly and then nodded. We came across a grave and I bowed my head in respect. Even if I had no respect for what Yevon and the summoners dead, I respected the dead.
"These mark the graves of the summoners and guardians who have failed." Lulu told Tidus.
We continued on and paid our respects to each grave.
"Summoners who die up here aren't sent to the Farplane." Lulu said.
"Why?" Tidus asked.
"Who would send them? They die alone." Lulu answered.
"So that means…"
She nodded.
"Many have become fiends, and they may want Yuna's company."
"Well, Yuna will be fine." he said.
I smiled a bit.
"You're right." Lulu agreed.
We continued on until we reached the gravesite at the top. We encountered many fiends along the way.
"All this way, only to fail. It must have been tough."
I bowed my head and then we once more moved on. We made our way up the mountain trail and I saw Tidus and Rikku hang back. I didn't need to listen to know what they were talking about. Zanarkand was on the other side of this mountain. I sighed and walked back.
"It's not over yet. Not until I say it is. We're a family Rikku, Tidus…and families protect each other."
Tidus nodded.
"It'll all come together. I know it!" he said.
I smiled and Rikku did as well.
"Hey….just now you sounded like a leader you know?"
"Star of the Zanarkand Abes. Didn't anyone tell you?"
"Oh!"
Rikku bowed but when she looked up she screamed. I turned and there was Seymour….AGAIN!
"Ah! The son of Jecht!"
I got in front of Tidus.
"You stay away from him you sick bastard!"
"Rikku, run ahead and tell Auron."
"You guys are not fighting him alone!" she said.
"Just go! GO!"
She ran off reluctantly and I stood by Tidus, sword drawn. Seymour started to chuckled.
"Now is your time to die. Prepare yourself son of Jecht!"
He walked forward and I held out the sword.
"One more step and I swear I'll make you fell the worst pain imaginable!" I hissed.
"Not if I can help it!" Tidus said.
"Save some for Kimahri!"
I looked over my shoulder and smiled.
"Amahy!"
Auron ran to my side and I looked at Seymour.
"Lady Yuna, it is a pleasure." he said.
I wanted to run forward, but Auron kept me back.
"Yuna do it now!" I said.
"A sending? So soon?"
"If it were up to me, I would give you my own personal sending!" I snarled.
"Allow me to say something to the last Ronso before I leave."
I slowly looked at Kimahri.
"What?" I asked.
He chuckled again.
"Yours was truly a gallant race. They threw themselves at me to bar my path."
He made his hand a fist and I gasped.
"No…." Kimahri said.
"Kimahri…" Yuna said.
"You could end the suffering of this poor Ronso." he said.
I glared at him.
"I don't understand you!" Yuna said.
"Allow Kimahri to die! And release him from his pain. Spira is a land of suffering and sorrow caught in a spiral of death. To destroy-to heal Spira-I will become Sin! Yes, with your help."
He turned back and walked forward.
"Come with me Yuna."
Before I could get in front of her, Tidus did.
"Once I have become the next Sin, your father will be freed again."
I bit my lip and looked at Tidus.
"Don't listen to him!" I said.
"What do you know!" He shouted at Seymour.
He ran at him and I was right behind him. Like the last time, he transformed himself into something terrible and powerful. It was nowhere near easy and I got hurt as did Tidus. But we managed to bring him down. We finished off Seymour yet again and Tidus was on one knee.
"And stay up there!" he shouted.
I smirked. We all started to go on again, but Yuna remained. I knew why too.
Auron's POV
Yuna did not follow us.
"He will become Sin…..with my help." she said.
Amahy went to her.
"No Yuna. He's a psycho you know that."
"Precisely. Lies. Forget them." I said.
"If he becomes Sin, Sir Jecht will be saved."
"Yuna let it go." Amahy said.
"We're leaving." I said.
She scowled.
"You know something! Tell me!" Yuna shouted.
"Yuna please…"
"No Amahy!"
I remained silent and I knew Amahy wanted to tell her. She looked at me and I shook my head. She nodded but I knew she was torn. Then she walked over to Tidus.
"Tell me!" She asked him.
Amahy walked back to me and I put my hand on her shoulder. She closed her eyes and looked down.
"Sin's…..my old man." he said.
"You hit your head!?" Wakka asked.
"Sin is my old man! My old man became Sin! I don't know how or why he did it. I felt him, inside. And when I did, I knew it was true. My old man is Spira's suffering. Sorry."
Amahy shook her head.
"Even….knowing that Sin is your father ….still you know I must…." Yuna said.
Amahy went and put her arms around her.
"I know. Let's get him. I think my old man would want that." he said.
Lulu stepped forward.
"You'd fight your own father?" she asked.
"Yeah….no problem there." he said.
"Uh….bout your old man…..you sure this ain't some kinda bad toxin dream or something?"
No one said anything.
"Then, Chappu…..I uh…..I think I'll just pretend I didn't hear nothing. I'm getting a little confused ya? Why…Why'd all this have to happen?" Wakka asked.
Amahy sighed.
"We'll learn when we arrive. Soon." I said.
Amahy looked at me. I looked away sadly and she took my hand.
"I don't blame you."
I squeezed her hand and she smiled.
