The file opened, and the video that followed seemed like an accident. The camera was moving around without anyone noticing. Though this could be understood due to all the gunfire.
Running around the corner, Connor quickly went back closely followed by rounds of dust. "Stace, Frank, think you can take them out?"
"How many?" asked Frank.
Darting his head around the corner to look, Connor quickly pulled it back. "About twenty."
"Twenty?"
"Give or take."
"That's not fair… for them." said Stace
"On my mark, sync," said Frank.
"Mark." With that Frank dropped low and rolled past the corner and started shooting the enemy with his sniper. Stace on the other hand, went charging down the hall like a maniac., shooting wildly but always hitting her target.
After half a minute of this, all eight of them proceeded down the hall. Hope was nearby in a bird ( I use this to describe any aircraft) incase they needed help. And that was just what they need as they went through a door at the end of the hallway into a wide open room full of soldiers, and a wall made entirely of windows. And guess what… all weapons were trained on them.
As they started to open fire, Bill stomped on the ground somehow forming a wall to protect them. Though it did little to help them, the gunfire was so thick, it was chipping away at the wall. "Hey Hope!" Connor said into an earpiece. "Think you could help us now?"
"Sure thing, be right there!" Sure enough, her bird was at the window wall. And all gunfire stopped momentarily as they saw her. "Eat dust bitches!" could be heard as she opened fire, the mounted guns tearing all to shreds.
"Thanks Hope," everyone but Connie said over the radio.
"No problem. If you ever need me to save you again, don't hesitate to call!" With that she sped off.
"I… I used to be like that?!" Hope yelled to nobody in particular. But the video did not wait for her, it kept playing as the eight of them traversed their way up the building. Though after a while all the shooting became boring, even to those were shooting. At one point Jess asked why they couldn't get Hope to give them a lift to the top. Connor responded with a 'because the anti air guns on the top floors'.
Back with Connor, he was meditating, trying to control these new powers. "Wind, chaotic and unpredictable. Fire, strong and fierce, yet kind and gentle. Water, free yet strong. Earth, stubborn and solid. These are the four elements that the ancients have mastered, and now… so have you." This was said by Argo, each word echoing in his head.
His eyes opening, Connor spoke. "Yes, that's fine and all, but what's the catch?"
"What do you mean?"
Giving off a tired sigh, he explained. "Nothing is without price. Now I ask again, what is the cost of these powers?"
"I was hoping you wouldn't ask." Now in a worried tone, Argo continued. "With the use of these powers, they feed off your aura. And since you are constantly blocking off yours, that would mean you would have to bring it forth and give control to me."
"No. No, no, no!" said he, his voice rising with each word. "I will not hand control to you!"
"Well then you can kiss these powers goodbye." At hearing this, it was Connors turn to be worried, but calmed as he had an idea.
"Why not just give me a small amount of my aura to use?"
"How much?"
"Just enough to cover my hand, not enough to give you control."
"You sure that will be enough?"
"Enough to make the enemy pause. And a single moment is all I need to end their lives."
"All right fine! Have your lousy aura," said Argo in a manner similar to a child pouting.
"Oh grow up." Calling forth his aura to his hands, it felt… different. The anger, aggression, hate, and blind fury that usually came with it was missing. 'That's odd. Well let's try it out.' Raising his hands above his head, he slammed them towards the ground, and with it came a great gust of wind blowing all snow in the room up. Slashing his right arm through the air, a wave of fire came forth, melting the snow. Pointing his hands at the water, he jerked back, causing it to fly towards him. Making it stop in front of him, with a snap of his fingers it froze instantly.
"Now that is cool!" said Connor looking at his arms as though they were some kind of weapon or toy. The a thought occurred to him, "Hey Argo, what happens if I use all my aura on this stuff?"
"Well, considering you allow me control, and use up all of your aura. It is most likely you would be too tired to even stay awake. But if you managed, and were to keep doing stuff like… then you would start to drain your life force. And once that is gone, you burst into flames."
"Oh fuck me! Well, just another reason to use as little as possible."
Connor would have kept using these new found abilities, if not for something he heard… gunfire, and what sounded like him, a younger him. His eyes widened in realization, when he figured it out. Running towards the edge of the room, Connor jumped out and fell several stories before using the wind to fly. Looking to the wall in front of him with rage in his eyes, he thrust his arm forwards, causing the wall to explode inwards.
Stepping in, he saw Hope coughing from the dust, and he saw the holo player. Using the winds, he pulled it towards him, and turned it off. "How much of this did you see?" he said in a dangerously low tone.
"What?"
"How much did you see?!" he screamed, his aura starting to spread. He didn't care if it spread though, he cared about protecting Hope more. Their past was terrible, and he didn't want her to remember any of it.
"You and some others chasing the camera," said Hope, her voice small and quivering. "You said something about our home being destroyed and…" She seemed to falter here, not even wishing to think about it. "And… you and those others and me, killing so many. Why?" At this she looked to Connor with terrified eyes.
"Why indeed," came a voice Hope did not know, but all too familiar to Connor. He was in a brown shirt with torn jeans, a tricorne on his head, and a chain around his waist.
Looking over to the new arrival, with something akin to fear in her eyes. "Who are you?" she asked.
Just as he was about to respond though, Connor's aura shot forward, wrapping around his throat. Yanking him into the air, then across the room, he was slammed to the floor with Connor's hand at his throat, choking him. "What are you doing here?!" Connor screamed in his face, his aura spreading due to his anger. "You should be dead ten times over!"
"Sorry to disappoint," the other said. This only caused Connor's grip to tighten. And all Hope could do was watch on, everything was moving too fast for her. They usually did things one step at a time, now this?
"Give me one reason why I shouldn't kill right now?!"
"How about I'm family," he said with a cocky grin on his face.
"That won't save you this time." As he started to tighten his grip, the other just managed to get out something that stopped him.
"What about her?"
Stopping, Connor paused before responding. "She's seen me kill plenty of times, now is no different."
"I think it is, look at her. She has just learned about her past, she's terrified and confused. And you killing me, out of pure hatred… that won't help her at all." As he had been talking, Connor's grip had loosened, then suddenly tightened.
"Fuck you!" he growled out. At hearing this, the stranger's eyes lost all signs of hope. But, instead of killing him, he simply threw him across the room. "So why are you here? We had a deal! I stop harming you, and you leave us alone."
"See, that's the problem, you hurt my business and in turn hurt me. Naturally, I wanted some payback. So I thought, what would you hate more than a visit from brother dearest." The with a look of expectation, he gestured to Hope. "Well? You going to introduce me?"
Then, looking over to Hope, she recoiled at seeing the hatred in his eyes. "Meet our older brother... Brandon, betrayer, crooked, thief, liar, an all around bad guy." Stopping to form ice out of the air, and shoot it through Brandon's right knee. Walking over to the hole in the wall, he proceeded to jump out. But before he did so, one could hear him mutter something along the lines of, "I'm sure you'll get along just fine… fucker."
AN : Okay sorry if the update seems late guys. I have no excuse other than laziness and procrastination. If parts of it seems disconnected, or don't run smoothly, it's because I've been working on it all week. But you probably don't care, just glad to have another chapter if you like this story.
Anyways, see something wrong, please let me know since I will most likely miss it. Well, until next time Bye!
