AN1: Here's a chapter. I really hope you like it. I do not own the Gilmore Girls. Please review, I LOVE reading them.
September had arrived in the hollow. The townspeople had sent their children back to school, and most people were busy working hard. Jess and Rory, however, were getting ready for a baby. They had decided to keep the baby at Rory and Lorelei's house. Since Jess and Lorelei were getting along, and Luke was afraid of children (and their stickiness) it made the most sense.
Jess and Luke had put together baby furniture, and Rory and Lorelei had filled a dresser with little yellow baby outfits. The kids had decided that they didn't want to know what the baby was before it was born. Luke asked why they hadn't bought anything green, and the girls laughed. They explained the baby shower they had attended, and that green was the new pink.
On this particular afternoon, Jess and Rory were at the diner with Luke. Jess was working and Rory was upstairs reading. She had taken to staying up there since she had grown tired of answering questions from the townspeople like 'when is it due' and 'do you know what you're doing' and from Babette and Patty "what's Jess like in bed'. So she was sitting upstairs, avoiding the whole thing, Jess was better at ignoring them, or in some cases, telling people off.
This particular September afternoon was destined to be almost catastrophic. Stepping off a bus in Hartford and headed for Starshollow, was one Liz Danes.
Jess was taking Kirk's order at the counter when she walked through the door. He froze when he saw her, and all the anger he had been ridding himself of was rushing back. Luke came out from the kitchen and saw what was happening.
"Big brother!" Liz yelled.
"Liz, uh what are you doing here?" Luke asked.
"Can't a girl come into town to see her guys, I just wanted to see my guys." Liz said.
"Well, it's definitely a surprise." Luke replied.
Jess set down the order pad and walked up the stairs. He opened the door to the apartment grabbed his leather jacket, and left. Rory had no idea what was going on. She got up and walked downstairs. She reached the bottom just in time to see Jess leaving the diner.
"Luke, what's going on?" Rory asked.
"Rory, oh, umm, this is my sister, Liz." Luke said.
"Oh." Rory responded.
"Who are you?" Liz asked.
"I'm Rory, Rory Gilmore. Luke, I'm going to go find Jess." She said, ignoring the women she knew to be her boyfriends mother. She wasn't in the mood to deal with her, and she needed to calm Jess down.
"I can go with you…" Luke started.
"No, it should just be me." And with that statement Rory left.
She knew where he went. She knew he would need time to cool off, so she didn't hurry. For being the bad boy he had become incredibly predictable. She thought about how ironic it all was. She was angry for him, so she knew that he needed the space. So she walked slowly and deliberately to the bridge, thinking all the way.

Back at the diner, Luke was angry. He knew why Jess left, and he had a good guess as to what was running through his head. Liz was just sitting at the counter like a pregnant girl hadn't just run after her son who stormed out just after she arrived. Like nothing was wrong.
"Liz, let's go upstairs." Luke said. No matter how angry he was, he would always have a soft spot for his sister, and he couldn't bring himself to be mean.
Once they reached the apartment Liz looked around. Most of Jess's things were missing, at least the things she remembered him having. And she didn't know who the girl who left was. She was just really confused.
"What are you doing here Liz?" Luke asked.
"I just wanted to visit my guys! Come down for a visit before I hit the road." Liz answered.
"Hit the road for what Liz?" Luke asked.
"The Renaissance Fair. I got a gig selling jewelry there." Liz answered rather proud of herself. She finally had a job that looked like it would make good money.
"Liz, aren't you wondering where Jess went?" Luke asked. He was choosing to ignore the fair thing, Liz always did what she wanted and he wan't going to try and stop her.
"He's always leaving and going places, figured he was just being his usual self."
"And the girl who left with him…"
"Probably his new squeeze, he always did like girls."
"Liz," Luke took a deep breath, "Jess isn't that kid anymore. He's grown up. Rory is his girlfriend, and they are having a baby."
Liz sat there and let it all sink in. She loved her kid. She knew she hadn't done a stellar job with him, but she loved him. She was impressed he had stayed, but she figured it wouldn't last long. It was in his genes. He'd either stay and be a nuisance or run like Jimmy had.
"He's still here, won't be for long, he's got his father in him." Liz said.
Luke got angry. He knew Jess would never leave, not after how he had been acting. "If you can't believe in him, you have to go Liz." Luke stated.
"Whatever, I gotta head to the fair anyway, we start in Hartford, figured I'd say hi before I headed off." Liz said.

By the time Rory got to the bridge, Jess had finished his cigarette. He knew she'd follow, and he knew she'd give him time. He just didn't know how to tell her what he was thinking.
"You done smoking that?" Rory asked as she sat down. They had decided he wasn't going to smoke around her for the baby, but she was willing to make an exception right now.
"Yup." He said. He threw the cigarette into the lake. "You know I decided I could deal with Luke when he pushed me in here." He continued.
"Yeah, I know." She said.
"He's the only parental figure I ever really had. Its why I hated your mom so much. I always said Liz was horrible because of her age, she wasn't ready. But your mom ruined that for me, because she handled it." He kept going.
Rory just nodded, she knew this was hard. She didn't want to interrupt or say she understood, because she didn't.
"I don't want to be them. Liz and Jimmy. They screwed up. I don't want to be them."
"Jess, I need to say this, and you just need to listen. You are not you parents. You never will be your parents."
"You can't know that."
"Yes I can, I know that because you are aware of their mistakes and how they affected you. You're a better person than that. I just know."
"I love you."
"I love you too."
AN2: I hope you liked it. I stand by my previous statement, that it isn't in Luke's character to ban his sister from the hollow, but I do think he would tell her to leave if she insulted Jess like that. Please review. I LOVE them.
