~Vanessa's POV~
Home sweet home. I walked through the door to our house as Laura followed me, stumbling with all of our bags.
"It's fine, Ness. I got the bags." Laura said, sarcastically.
I laughed and grabbed some bags from her. "Why do these feel heavier than when we left?"
"Probably because we met Rydel and Maia, and you know those girls can shop." Laura replied and I nodded. "Speaking of Maia, what time do we have to pick her up from the airport?"
Maia went back to Miami after the tour so she could get her stuff. She was flying out here as soon as she could.
"I think about eight. So, we have plenty of time to unpack." I frowned and so did Laura. "Or we can leave the unpacking and be lazy."
"I like the second option." She grinned.
So, that's how Laura and I ended up on the couch surrounded in blankets and junk food, watching 10 Things I Hate About You. It's basically about two sisters, one of them is the meanest girl in school while the other is super nice. A new guy comes to their school and wants to date the nicer sister but her father made a rule that she can't date until her sister does. So the new guy tries to find her sister a date. It's pretty much as cliche as they get, but it's really good.
"I gotta say, I think Bianca is my favourite character." Laura confessed.
I scoffed. "No way. Kat is the best. She doesn't take crap from anybody, and she's really independent. Bianca is just your typical girly-girl."
"Yeah but she does punch Joey for herself and her sister. She's a good person." Laura replied.
I opened my mouth to reply but my phone ringing cut me off. "Hello?"
"Hey babe." Riker greeted.
"Oh, hey Riker. What's up?"
"Not much, we all just finished unpacking. Are you unpacked?" He asked.
I glanced at our bags that were still lying on the floor then at Laura. "Uh, sure."
"And by that you mean you decided to leave the packing and watch movies and eat junk food with Laura." He guessed.
"I feel like you know me too well." I said and he laughed.
"Ness, Maia just text. She's at the airport." Laura informed me.
"Sorry Riker, I have to go. Laura and I are going to pick Maia up from the airport." I told him.
"Okay, but before you go, I want to ask you something."
"Shoot."
"Go on a date with me tomorrow?"
I instantly smiled. "Is that a question or a demand?"
"Well, it's a question, but I'm not giving you a choice." He joked, laughter lacing through his voice.
"Okay," I laughed.
"VANESSA!" Laura yelled.
"I'm coming!" I yelled back then lowered my voice. "I'll see you tomorrow?"
"I'll pick you up at noon." We said our goodbyes and hung up.
I put on my jacket and shoes before grabbing my car keys. "You ready?" I asked Laura who nodded. We headed out the door, and drove to the airport.
Maia was stood outside with her luggage as we arrived; she grinned once she saw us and Laura and I got out of the car to help her with her stuff.
"Hey." I smiled as Laura and I hugged her. "How was your flight?"
"It was alright." She replied, getting in the car once we'd loaded it up with her luggage. "I suppose you guys had a fun day unpacking."
Laura scoffed. "Oh how little you know us."
The rest of the drive home was pretty quiet apart from the radio playing and some mindless chatter between us. After we got home, we decided that we were too tired to bring Maia's stuff in so we'd do it tomorrow. She brought in one suitcase so she'd have at least some pajamas and a change of clothes, plus her necessities.
I decided to go straight to bed once we got in so I could get an early night before my date tomorrow.
~Laura's POV~
The next morning was a mad rush as Maia and I helped Vanessa get ready for her date. We'd picked out a pair of light ripped skinny jeans with a white and orange floral peplum top. Maia picked out a pair of silver and white sandals, which Vanessa refused to wear at first claiming she was short enough compared to Riker in heels let alone flats, but we finally got her to wear them. Riker was taking her to a picnic so heels wouldn't work.
"So, are you excited for your date?" I asked as I painted Vanessa's nails white.
"You're acting like this is my first date with him." Vanessa laughed. "We've been dating two months."
I rolled my eyes playfully as Maia walked into the room. "They're on their way."
"They?" Vanessa questioned.
"Ross, Rocky, Rydel and Ratliff are coming with him. We're gonna wait for you guys to get back then spend the night watching movies and eating pizza." Maia grinned.
"Oh that sounds amazing." I licked my lips.
"After you unpack." Maia said, pointing her finger at me.
"Hey! Vanessa didn't unpack either." I pouted.
"Yeah but Vanessa's going to be out, so I can't force her to unpack." The smirk Vanessa gave him didn't seem to go amiss by Maia because she added, "Until she gets back."
"Oh man." Vanessa groaned.
Brrrrrriiiiing.
"Why is our doorbell so obnoxious?" Vanessa asked nonchalantly, I shrugged and got up.
"Do notsmudge your nails!" I warned Vanessa before heading downstairs, hearing her mock me. "I heard that!" I yelled before opening the door. I smiled at the five goofballs stood in front of me. "Hey guys."
"Hey Laur," Ross kissed my cheek.
I smiled. "Come in, make yourselves at home. Vanessa will be down in a minute." I said.
I heard footsteps coming down the stairs and Maia came around the corner; she jumped into Rocky's arms, hugging him. I smiled at their cuteness and headed back upstairs.
"Are you ready?" I asked Vanessa as I walked into the room. She was in front of the mirror, topping up her lipgloss.
She nodded, "Does my hair look okay?"
I grabbed the curling tongs, curling a little bit of her hair that had somehow straightened itself out. "Perfect."
"Thank you." She smiled, hugging me.
We headed downstairs and I watched as Riker's jaw dropped at the sight of my sister.
"You look beautiful," He grinned at her.
"Thank you." She smiled and he kissed her lightly.
"You ready to go?" He asked and she nodded.
After they left, the others and I decided to get a head start on our movie night. We started off by watching a Disney classic, Sleeping Beauty. The boys were pretty adamant about watching it at first but I could tell they were secretly enjoying it.
~Vanessa's POV~
"Where are we going?" I asked Riker as he drove. "I thought we were having a picnic."
"We are. I'm just taking you to a nicer, more private part of the park so we don't get bombarded by fans." He replied.
I laughed slightly and nodded. "Makes sense."
Eventually, we arrived at the park. We were at a more private part of the park and there were hardly any people about. We climbed out of the car and Riker got the picnic basket and a blanket out of the back.
"It's nice. Being able to be alone together without being on a tour bus, or in a hotel." I smiled as we sat down on the blanket. I laid back on the blanket and so did Riker; he laced his fingers through mine.
"I know." Riker agreed. "It's nice just being usfor a while."
I closed my eyes and breathed in deeply, and Riker kissed my temple.
"So, how's Maia settling in?" He changed the subject.
"Okay, I think. It's only been one night thought so she still might get home sick. But she told me that she never had anything going for her in Miami, and we're all her first real friends so she's pretty much really happy to be staying with us. This way she can be with Rocky too." I replied.
The next hour was spent of us just talking about everything and anything, I loved being able to spend time with Riker. With his career, it wasn't always easy to be together.
"Maybe we should start heading back, the others are waiting." Riker said.
I groaned. "Do we have to?"
"If we could stay here all day, I would too." He replied, hovering over me and pressing his lips to mine.
I felt water hit my skin as I shot up with a gasp. Riker and I laughed as we realized the sprinklers had been turned on. Riker pulled me to my feet and we danced and ran around under the water; both of us ending up pretty much soaked. I suddenly tripped and pulled Riker down with me, laughing.
Riker moved a piece of hair out of my face as our laughter died down. "I've had a really good time."
