Chapter 20: The perfect dress at the perfect moment
Hi guys (If you are still bothering to read this, you have no idea how grateful I am if you are) I am so sorry this is so late I have I literally been working on it for ages but I have been really ill (in hospital twice) and stuff but hopefully updates will become more regular now, also I am writing a story based on the Hobbit (I LOVE THE HOBBIT!) but I don't know whether to post it yet, I'm only a little bit through it and it's already around 90 pages long! I've been spending a lot of time on that but now hopefully this is gonna get more interesting, Hope you enjoy this chapter,
(Going Slightly Mental) Niamh xx
Rose, Scor and Creed and Al were sitting in a compartment together, Rose lay resting on Scorpius reading a book with her feet on the window sill. Scor was stroking her hair, pausing every few seconds to turn a page in his own book while Al and Creed were sat opposite them copying Rose's summer homework.
Fourth year had been great, with Rose and Al making a new friend in Creed and Scor and Rose getting together. Rose and her father were back on speaking terms however she could tell that her father was still angry; he wouldn't allow Scorp in his house so Rose, Creed and Scor all went round to Al's for two weeks.
"What do you think this 'surprise' uncle Harry was telling us about will be?" Rose asked them, looking up from 'The Hobbit' – her new favourite book.
"I don't know," Scorpius said, "Dad said that last time everyone said there was gonna be a surprise it was the triwizard tournament but they aren't going to do that after what happened are they?"
"No, dad said that it isn't that but something to do with that, I wish they would tell us what it is!" Al said "Haven't you guys got to prefect now?" he asked the couple,
They both jumped up. "I forgot!" Rose said,
"Me too, Come on!" Scorp said, he held onto her hand as they clambered out into the corridor, leaving the two other boys to finish their homework.
Just after the trio played their annual game of sort the first years, Scorp won as usual, something odd happened, Professor Longbottom got up and told the students about an event that was happening this year, the inter-school challenge, he said that it was a bit like the triwizard tournament only everyone in the schools compete and it is a lot less dangerous for example rather than battling dragons it will be quizzes and trivia. Then the headmistress welcomed Beauxbatons academy and Durmstrang institute.
Just before they left Professor Longbottom stood and said, "Now, the first task is a quidditch tournament, there will be trials for the Hogwarts Harpies tomorrow." Rose, Scorpius and Al all headed up to the dorm talking excitedly about what was going on.
"are you gonna try out?" Al asked,
"Yes, definitely!" Rose replied as Scorp nodded, "Are you?"
"Yes!".
The next morning half of the school could be found on the Quidditch stadium and loads of people tried out.
The team ended up as:
Keeper: Rose Weasley,
Chasers: Owen Macmillon, Corey Pucey and Louis Weasley,
Beaters: Scorpius Malfoy and Creed Zabini,
Seeker: Albus Potter.
Walking back to the castle the four talked excitedly about making the team and then as they ate lunch Professor Longbottom made an announcement that the match between the Hogwarts Harpies and the Durmstrang Dragons was to be played on the 14th September, a couple of weeks time which meant that as well as prefect duties Rose and Scorp had quidditch practise for both Gryffindor and the school.
The quidditch games ended up:
Harpies 210-20 Dragons,
Dragons 160-40 Butterflies,
Harpies 320-60 Butterflies,
This meant that overall Hogwarts won the points for that round. That evening the headmistress announced there was to be a Christmas ball called the yule ball, Rose knew about this because her mother had told her all about how she went with Viktor Krum, the world's best seeker, so she was really looking forward to it.
On the way out of the hall Scorp asked Rose to go with him, which of course she replied yes to and as they headed up to the common room, along with all other students, they expressed their excitement for the upcoming event.
Rose didn't go to Hogsmeade with Scorpius for the first time in years, instead she met up with her closest female cousin Victoire in the three Broomsticks to go dress shopping, when she got there however, Victoire exclaimed "I've got some news, but would you like an apple?" Rose was confused when Victoire dramatically extended her arm towards her until she saw a beautiful diamond ring, gleaming on Victoire's finger.
"He asked you!" screamed Rose, to surprised and happy to care about all the people that were staring,
"Yes! Me and Teddy are officially getting married next Easter, and that's not all, we've got to shop for two dresses for you today because I want you and Dom to share being my Maids of Honour"
"Really Vic?! I'd love to!" rose shouted again.
"They went to the best dress shop in town where Victoire picked out a beautiful floaty deep blue dress that would do perfectly for bridesmaids but Rose couldn't find a dress anywhere to wear to the ball until…
"Excuse me?" she asked the assistant, "I can't find a dress to wear to the Yule Ball,"
The assistant smiled, I have the perfect thing for you Rose Weasley, then running up a set of stairs she started mumbling. In a few minutes she emerged holding a dress that was covered up, "Try this on." She said.
Rose went into the elegant changing rooms, disappointed there was no mirror inside. Nervously she unzipped the cover to reveal an emerald green, strapless floor length dress with a silver high waistline belt. Immediately she fell in love with it, and as soon as she put it on she felt like a princess in one of those muggle fairy tales she loved so much.
She stepped out to a gasp from her cousin and a laugh from the assistant, who she found out was called Annabelle, who said "I've been saving that dress for a day like this, for the perfect moment and the perfect person, it suits you brilliantly and unlike some long dresses it doesn't make you look even shorter than you are."
"Thanks." Rose said sarcastically, she was always defensive about her height but she laughed anyway and bought the dress along with a pair of silver heels that made her look a bit taller, and a pretty hair accessory.
As she parted ways with Victoire she said "I'll see you at Easter then?" but Victoire replied,
"O no, you will be seeing a lot more of me!" Rose was left to wander what that meant as she smiled at a waving Victoire as the carriage pulled away back to the castle.
