The Missing
Once the drill resurfaced, it immediately crashed onto the ground causing Alex, Peridot, and Steven to fall onto the ground. "You did it!" Peridot cried as she hugged Steven tightly.
"You the man Steven!" cheered Alex helping him get to his feet for he was still tired.
"Come on you guys, we did it together and it was great!" Steven cheered happily. Just then the warp pad next to the barn had been activated as Jasper, Pearl, Lapis, Garnet, and Amethyst appeared looking worried and anxious. "Guys, you're here were you able to take care of those stray mutants?" asked Steven approaching them.
"Yeah it was no problem, we bubbled them and they are safe," Jasper reported.
"You three look happy did you guys destroy the cluster?" asked Pearl.
"No I talked to it," Steven replied.
"You did what now?" asked Amethyst as the other gems looked confused.
"It didn't want to destroy the Earth, it just wanted company, so I helped bubble them. Now they are safe, won't be a threat to the Earth and will have lots of time to talk to each other," explained Steven.
"How on Earth did you bubble that whole thing?" asked Pearl eyes widened with shock and awe.
"Yeah this I got to hear," Jasper said arms folded. This time it was Alex that did the explaining.
"This is going to sound weird but yeah Steven actually talked to the cluster, when we hit the cluster. Steven looked like he was in pain then this pink light came from his gem and he was asleep, yet it looked like he was talking to someone his lips were moving. Yet, neither me nor Peridot could see what he was saying, then this giant pink light covered the entire cluster. Steven woke up and he had these shards with him," Alex explained. Steven held up the shards he took from the cluster.
"Steven do you think it is wise to have these shards?" asked Garnet kneeling down to him.
"I do Garnet, they didn't want to be left behind and this is going to sound weird but these shards once we find the rest of them will be really important to Luna and make her very happy," Steven explained. Garnet only nodded as Steven sent the bubble into the bubble room, then he fell to the ground.
"STEVEN!" the gems cried as Garnet being the closest one to him caught him instantly.
"I'm really tired I think I could use a nap," he said as sweat formed on his forehead.
"Here, I'll take him to his room to rest," Pearl said picking up the small boy.
"Pearl it's okay I think I can walk," Steven commented.
"I rather not take the chance just rest Steven will be home soon, you can take a nap to regain your strength," Pearl told him.
"Yeah you defeated the cluster, let's order pizza and watch movies later," Amethyst suggested.
"Good idea, first let Steven rest, we can work out the details while he is napping," Alex said. They nodded as Pearl carried Steven to his room to rest. Peridot just stood there for a few moments and looked at the barn an idea in her head.
"What is it Peri?" asked Amethyst.
"I was just wondering you gems have a room at the temple, Steven has his own human room in that Earth dwelling. Even Alex and Luna have a place to go too, I really don't have any place to go," Peridot realized.
"Hmmm, well you could always have a room at the temple," Amethyst told her.
"True, but I don't know if I am ready for that. I wonder if I could talk to um Greg, maybe he would allow me to live here," Peridot wondered.
"Greg, yeah he will, he is awesome like that," Amethyst told her.
"I have his number in my phone, once we clean up a bit I'll call him and ask him," Alex said gently.
"Yeah Peridot, if you want I can stay with you too so you won't be lonely," Lapis offered.
"Me too this barn reminds me of home," Jasper replied.
"Wow thanks," Peridot said with a smile.
Back at Steven's house
"Okay Steven, are you comfortable enough? Should I get you another blanket?" asked Pearl tucking him in.
"I'm fine Pearl, just need some rest," Steven told her yawning.
"Okay, I'll be downstairs if you need anything, you just rest stopping the cluster sure took a lot out of you," Pearl stated as she headed downstairs.
Steven's dream
Steven opened his eyes he found himself on a puffy white cloud. Yet, the sky was dark, with a blanket full of stars. "What is going on?" he asked hoping he wouldn't fall. Then remembered he learned with his training with Luna, he could float.
"It's okay Steven, this is just a dream," replied a familiar voice. Appearing out of nowhere was Luna Moonstone.
"Ah Luna, you are okay!" Steven cried rushing to her. His arms wrapped around her waist tears streaming down his face. "I was..so ..scared..your gem... was shattered...I...am ...so ...sorry," he cried his body shaking.
"Shhh, Steven, relax it wasn't your fault, you healed me, thank you Little Prince," Luna whispered stroking his hair to calm him down. She felt his body shaken lessen as he looked up at her. Her hair was in a high pony tail, with a white tank top, dark blue jeans and brown boots. He even held her hand, the one with the gem on it. The gem seemed completely healed, not a single crack on it.
"I'm glad you are okay Luna, Garnet and Alex will be so happy to see you. I have even better news we stopped the cluster. Well I actually talked to it, it didn't want to harm the Earth only wanted company, so I helped bubble it, now it is safe. Peridot and I even have an idea on how to save the ones that were tuned into mutants or corrupted gems," Steven explained.
"Wow Steven I am so proud of you," Luna said with a smile on her face.
"Well Peridot and the gems helped build the drill, so why are we meeting in a dream? Are you out of your gem?" Steven asked. Luna's face changed as a frown was on her face.
"Yes, Steven I am out of my gem but I am not at the house," Luna told him.
"Well where are you?" Steven asked.
"That is not important at the moment Steven," Luna said. She knelt down to his level her hands on his shoulders. "When you were healing me, you saw all my memories right?" she asked.
"Yeah I did, I am sorry about Zachery, and your team," Steven told her.
"I never wanted you to learn that," Luna said biting her lip.
"Luna, you didn't know any better, I know you made mistakes but now you fight for the Earth. I will never or could ever be afraid of you," Steven said holding her hands. A small tear fell from her face as she smiled at him.
"Thank you Steven, that means more to me than you will ever know," she whispered. Then she took a deep breath and continued to talk. "Steven, the last memory you unlocked, did you see what was in that memory?" she asked her voice a tad nervous.
"Well it was different than the others, this shard had a pink glow around it. Then when I touched it the light erupted and I was woken up before I could see what memory it contained. Why do you ask?" Steven asked her.
Again, Luna bit her lip as she answered,"That memory was a memory I was forced to forget, but now I remember the truth".
"What happened? Who would make you forget?" asked Steven eyes wide with shock. Before Luna, answered she looked at him or well his gem like it was the first time she saw it.
"Not important at the moment Steven, I just need to process what I remembered. I promise if you need me, just say my name in your head, and no matter where I am, I promise to come to your aid. Just look after Alex and Garnet for me, I need time to think," Luna told him gently.
"Okay Luna, take all the time you need," Steven told her. She smiled and in a ray of moonlight she was gone and he woke up the dream was over.
"Luna, please be careful," Steven whispered as his eyes opened.
"Hey Stev-man, come on we have pizza and movies, time to celebrate," called Amethyst. Steven smiled and decided to tell the gems about Luna after the celebration. Tonight they would celebrate their victory.
"Hey save some pizza for me," Steven called getting out of bed.
On the outskirts of Beach City
A ship landed on the outskirts of Beach City. Two odd beings appeared, one was a small figure almost looking like a small child. She had a cherubic appearance and a bright cyan-blue complexion, navy blue eyes, no nose, and chin-length, cerulean-blue hair worn in a bobbed style, wearing what could only be described as a school uniform for girls. "Good job landing the ship Topaz, I am almost impressed," she said in a cold tone.
Her companion the one called Topaz stepped out with a blank look. Topaz was a massive gem, bigger than Garnet with a bulky frame. Her skin was a dark yellow, her hair was a flat rectangle shape she had two gems attached to her ears, and orange stripe accross her face. She wore a plain brown jumpsuit, with a big yellow diamond in the center.
"Okay, you Big Boulder, let's get started on this mission, the sooner we get done the sooner we get out of this dreadful planet," Aquamarine said with disgust. "Alright you rejects stay in your nice cozy cells, don't try anything and maybe I can persuade Yellow Diamond to go easy on you. Instead of just shattering you, you might get a trial, now keep quiet Topaz and I will be back shortly," Aquamarine called into the darkened ship. Figures in cells much like the ones Jasper had placed the gems in quietly moved a bit. Yet neither one of the gems said anything making Aquamarine smile. "Good now follow me Topaz, who is first on the list?" she asked looking at the paper. "Right, let's go," she said forming fairy wings and taking off into the night.
Steven woke up early in the morning and smiled at seeing his dad and Alex sleeping soundly. The gems seemed to be sleeping as well. He quietly got up and stretched his body. Suddenly their was a knock on the door. "Coming," he called as he stepped over Amethyst to get to the door. Once he opened the door a frightened Videlia, appeared.
"Steven please tell me you seen Onion?" she asked.
"Onion, uh no not for a couple of days, I just got home yesterday," he explained. Her face went paler, as tears fell from her face.
"That is it I am calling the cops. I tucked Onion into bed last night and normally if he leaves I make him write a note. I went upstairs to wake him up and he was gone. No note or anything I was hoping he came by to see you," she told him.
"No I haven't seen him, but I'll look around town if I see him, I'll tell him to head home," Steven told her.
"Thanks, I have to go maybe Sour Cream or Yellowtail have seen him, if not I am calling the cops," Videlia told him. Then she left leaving Steven worried and confused. Where could Onion have wandered off too? "Hey guys, I am heading to the Big Donut, I'll be back," Steven told the gems who woke up from the noise. Then he headed to the Big Donut to get breakfast, after he ate something he would ask the gems and Alex to find Onion. Yet, when he headed to the Big Donut, Lars was alone trying to help customers.
"Oh great more people!" he cried angrily.
"Hey Lars, why are you all by yourself?" Steven asked as Lars handed a donut to the mayor.
"Oh no reason just because Sadie decided not to show up to work today, probably, pretending to be sick or something," he grumbled.
"Come on Lars, Sadie would never fake an illness, besides you pulled the same thing many times, remember you told Sadie you were sick making her work a double till she found out that you were home playing a new video game. Boy did she give you a black eye," Steven said remembering that memory.
"Oh whatever, either buy a donut or get out, I have to stock things!" Lars barked. Steven rolled his eyes yet ordered some donuts. Then took off to his house when oddly enough, he bumped into Sadie's mom, Barb.
"Oh sorry Steven, I am a bit behind schedule," Barb said helping him to his feet. His donuts were still safely, in the box.
"It's okay Barb, why are you so behind schedule?" Steven asked.
"Well it is the strangest thing, Jamie never showed up for work. I called him four times, and got no answer, I know he can be a bit distracted but he is always on time for work," Barb explained.
"Maybe he is sick, like Sadie is," Steven told her.
"What are you talking about Steven? Sadie isn't sick she left for work like she always did. I even made her a lunch like I always do, girls got to keep up her strength," Barb told him.
"Well Lars told me Sadie never showed up to work," Steven replied.
"What oh no where could my baby be?" Barb asked worry all over her face.
"It's okay Barb I'll ask my dad, Alex, and the gems to help find Sadie, Jamie, and Onion, he is missing too," Steven explained.
"Good idea, thank you Steven, you are a good boy. Hold on Sadie, Mama's coming!" Barb cried as she dashed away. Now Steven was wondering what was going on. He immediately ran home to tell his dad, Alex and the gems about the missing humans. Steven hoped that they were okay and hoped they would find them soon.
