I don't own Harry Potter or Code Lyoko Evolution
The trap
Aelita sighed as she looked at the core of Lyoko.
Later
"How do you feel?" asked Jeremy as Aelita entered the lab.
"Strange. I had finally gotten used to the fact that I would never see my mother again."
"I understand. How's your search going on?"
"I've been searching the internet all day long but to no avail. It's kinda depressing."
"Tyron must have erased her details too," said Harry. "Like he did with his."
"Why not try social networks?" suggested Jeremy. "You could upload a picture of your mother and you would reach thousands of people immediately. It might give you somewhere to start."
"I don't know…"
"It's getting late anyway. We'll talk about this tomorrow, ok?"
"Yes… Thank you Jeremy."
The three walked out the lab.
The next day
"But we already tried so many different ways to prevent spectres from stealing our codes," protested Ulrich. "And they have all failed."
"Yeah, and as a result, I don't have any codes left," reminded Odd. "I'm a low-end Lyoko warrior now."
"Odd, you're not the only one without any codes," pointed out Sissi.
"Don't you think you're exaggerating a bit?" asked Ulrich.
"Well, I'd like to see how you would react. I wish we could reverse the roles."
"Stop arguing," pleaded Harry. "I don't like arguments."
"Reverse the roles…" muttered Jeremy. "Reverse the roles! You're a genius!"
He kissed Odd's head before running off. Everyone looked surprised and confused.
"What did I say?"
Later
"Trying to prevent spectres from stealing our codes wasn't the right way to go. What we should be trying to do is get them back," explained Jeremy.
"Awesome!" exclaimed Odd. "Does that mean I'm going to get them back?"
"Yes but we need to catch a spectre first," pointed out Jeremy.
"Are you sure about that?" asked Harry. "I mean, spectres do cause unpleasant side effects."
"Catch a spectre?" asked William. "Are you insane?"
"I was thinking that."
"All we need to do is attract one into the scanners and steal its code," explained Jeremy. Everyone looked doubtful. "Don't worry. I have a plan. Yumi will be the bait because she has the most codes left."
"Uh, Harry and William have more codes than she does," pointed out Odd.
"And Xana doesn't seem to want to go after us," reminded Harry.
"Sissi will be watching and Harry, Ulrich and Odd will go to Lyoko to deactivate the tower, just in case. And we'll leave Aelita out of this."
Everyone nodded.
"And what will me and Luna be doing?" asked William.
"Uh, Luna can help Sissi and Yumi while you can help out on Lyoko."
Aelita's dorm
Aelita picked up a book and opened it. She sat down and flipped through the pictures. Memories flooded her mind as she looked at them.
"You won't catch me!" the young Aelita laughed as she ran away from her mum.
"Got you sweetheart!"
Aelita took a picture on her phone before typing a message.
'Hi. This is the first time I'm using a social network but I have a good reason. I'm looking for my mother. Mum, I know you're still alive. If you see this message, please let me know.'
Park
"We'll hide and if the spectre gets too close, we'll step in, ok?" asked Sissi.
"Ok." Yumi pulled out her phone as the two girls hid. "Jeremy? We're ready."
Lab
"Ok Yumi. Now we just have to wait." Jeremy turned to the other boys. "Ok, you can go now."
"Are you sure it's going to work?" asked Yumi as the boys headed to the scanners.
"Look, you're in an isolated place and you're packed with codes. Don't you think this is the ideal situation for Xana to attack"?
Park
Yumi sighed and looked round as she put her phone away. Sissi and Luna kept on the lookout.
Lyoko
"And what do we do now?" asked Odd as he looked around the arena.
"We'll wait for a tower to be activated."
"Sounds boring," said William. "Wish I had a magazine."
"Even if you did have one, you wouldn't be able to read it," said Harry with a small smile.
"I never thought I would say this one day but I hope Xana will attack soon," said a mopey Odd.
"Yeah otherwise it might be a really long wait," agreed Ulrich.
"Hey, don't worry. I'm sure he will," said Harry.
Park
The three waited patiently.
Lyoko
"Jeremy, that's enough. I can't stand it anymore," said a bored Ulrich after what felt like an age. "How long have we been waiting?"
"One hour and seventeen minutes."
"One hour and seventeen minutes?" asked a surprised Odd as he stopped doing push ups. "Geez, how boring is it when Xana isn't attacking… Next time I'll bring some playing cards. Well, some virtual ones. By the way, can't you send us a refreshment room, a soccer table or something?"
"That would take some time to program Odd," said Harry with a sigh.
"Odd!"
"Alright. I'll start a siesta then. Wake me up when you need me."
"Honestly Odd." William shook his head.
"Stay focused guys. Stay focused." Jeremy studied the display. "Bingo! A tower just activated in the desert sector!"
"Oh no Jeremy! Not cool! Just when I was falling asleep," moaned Odd. "A warrior can't even rest now."
"Come on lazy bones, on your feet now." William pulled the cat up.
"Odd, may I remind you that you're on a mission. I'll transfer you."
They disappeared and reappeared in the desert.
"What an unpleasant wake up call," muttered Odd.
"Ok guys. The tower is located seventy eight degrees east."
"Will you send us our vehicles?" asked Ulrich.
"Nope. Xana might notice you."
"You mean we have to walk?" asked Odd in despair.
"You could crawl if you wanted to."
"Oh joy," said Harry. "That means I have to keep to normal speeds. Boring."
"This mission is definitely great," muttered Odd as they started towards the tower. Jeremy pulled out his phone.
"Yumi? There's an activated tower at last."
Park
"Ok Jeremy. We'll stand by in case a spectre shows up."
Jim ran towards her and started to run on the spot as he checked the time. "What's up Ishiyama? Want to run with me?"
"I'm sorry Jim but I don't really feel like running right now."
"Ah, you youngsters, no energy!" Jim ran off as Yumi turned to see a man in black. She started to move away as the man followed her. Luna and Sissi followed them as Sissi pulled out her phone.
"It's alright Jeremy, it worked. The fish took the bait."
"But for how long?" asked Luna as Sissi put the phone away.
Lyoko
Odd peered out from behind a rock. "I don't believe it. We have amazing vehicles and we're just wearing out our shoes."
"It doesn't work like that Odd," said Harry with a sigh. "Not here anyway. Nothing fades until the program behind them stops. That's why our swords don't dull."
"Ok, I get it Odd," said Jeremy. "But you do need to help out the others."
"Yeah, I know, I know. I'm just the hero's sidekick."
"Yes but not any hero Odd," said Ulrich with a smile.
"Geez, I'm really fed up with not having any codes!"
"Stop going on about it," said Harry with a sigh.
"Yeah, it's getting annoying," agreed William.
Park
Yumi slipped into the manhole as the spectre followed her. Sissi and Luna followed them.
"Spectres aren't very clever, are they?" asked Luna.
"I don't think they focus on anything but the codes," said Sissi.
Lyoko
"Jeremy, we're here," said Ulrich as the four looked at the tower.
"Ok, be ready to take action in case something goes wrong."
"So, if I get it right, in this mission, we need to keep waiting all the time," summarised Odd. "How exciting."
"Why is it that you're the only one complaining?" asked William. The ducked as a laser narrowly missed them.
"Some action at last!" exclaimed Odd as they moved out of the way of the lasers. "But I don't remember ordering any Krabes."
Factory
Yumi walked over to the elevator as she made a call. "Jeremy, I'm in the elevator."
"Ok, go to the scanners."
The spectre stopped at the elevator. The doors opened and Yumi walked out. The spectre changed straight through her as she disappeared and the doors closed.
"Home mode holographic projection. You just fell into the trap."
The doors opened onto the scanners and Yumi backed away into a scanner as the eye of Xana flashed in the spectre's eyes as it followed her. The doors closed and the eye of Xana flashed again.
"Great Yumi. I'll start the virtualisation."
The doors opened onto an empty scanner and the spectre entered it.
"Yeah, got you! Now, let's finish this."
Sissi and Luna joined him. "So?"
"Perfect. The scan detected his codes."
Lyoko
The Krabes fired on the four as they dodged. Ulrich deflected a few shots.
"Jeremy, where are you with the spectre?"
"We caught him."
"You rock," called Odd. "Now I can tell you that I didn't think your plan would work!"
Several laser arrows deflected off a Krabe. Harry jumped up and stabbed it.
"Thanks for your confidence Odd. It's always nice to hear."
"You're welcome Einstein. You're welcome."
They regrouped and a Krabe fired at their feet.
"Now it's time to get serious," commented Ulrich.
"You mean, it wasn't serious before?" asked Harry. Ulrich ran towards one and jumped on it. He stabbed it and jumped off.
"One less!"
"And here come the reinforcements," said William as he looked at several more Krabes.
"Hey, I want my share too!" Odd ran towards the monsters and defeated one quickly.
"2.5%! We'll be able to steal 2.5%!" said a happy Jeremy. The spectre started banging against the inside of the scanner as electricity passed over it. "It can't be, he's destroying the scanner! Ulrich, we have a big problem with the spectre. Hurry and deactivate the tower."
William jumped on top of a Krabe before plunging his sword into it.
"Ok, Jeremy. I'm on it." Ulrich ran towards the tower but a Krabe knocked him aside.
"Ulrich!" Harry destroyed the Krabe before running over to Ulrich.
"What the heck are you doing? Hurry up!"
"We're doing our best Jeremy!"
"Damn it! The scanner is going to give way soon," moaned Jeremy as the spectre continued to attack it.
"What just happened?" asked Sissi as the spectre stopped attacking it.
"The spectre… I think it exploded," said Jeremy.
"Is that even possible?" asked William.
"Who knows?" asked Harry. "It's not like we've really studied spectres."
A green cloud of pixels appeared near Yumi and headed towards her as she was walking.
"Jeremy? There's something weird here. Some sort of particle cloud."
"A particle cloud?" asked Jeremy. "Yumi, I can see only one explanation. Some residue of the spectre travelled to Lyoko."
"What?" asked a surprised Yumi as the cloud moved faster and she pulled out her fans. "Jeremy, it's coming towards me!"
She threw her fans ad they passed straight through it. The cloud knocked Yumi over, leaving her with creepy green eyes before floating away.
"Yumi? Can you hear me?"
"She lost almost all her life points," said Luna as she studied the screen.
"Odd, Ulrich, Harry, William, the spectre is on Lyoko and is chasing you. You gotta deactivate that tower quickly!"
"The spectre is on Lyoko?" asked Odd. "What the heck?"
"It exploded in the scanner and some particles were transferred to the desert sector," explained Jeremy.
"And I guess it would go to default mode of getting our source codes," muttered Harry. "Ok, let me deal with the monsters."
Said monsters exploded.
"Ulrich! Watch out! The spectre is just behind you!" called Odd as Ulrich ran towards the tower. The spectre hit him and Ulrich ended up just like Yumi. "Ulrich!"
The spectre moved away and Odd shook him as Harry and William joined him.
"Ulrich, wake up! Ulrich! It can't be… Jeremy! Ulrich has stopped moving! He seems to be in some sort of coma!"
"I really don't like that," said Harry as he tracked the spectre. "Next it would be after me and William. And then Xana could try and possess us."
William shivered.
"What did I do…" muttered Jeremy.
"Jeremy, what's going on?" asked Odd. "And why did that thing spare us?"
"I don't think it spared us Odd, just had more important things to do," said Harry.
"I don't know," said Jeremy. "I have no idea what's it doing."
"Wait Jeremy, this spectre was programmed to steal codes, right?" asked William.
"Uh, yes."
"Since Odd has none left, it may not have noticed him."
"Yeah, that makes sense," admitted Jeremy.
"But why didn't it go for us?" asked William. "We still have source codes."
"Well, it goes with the pattern of Xana not attacking us," said Harry with a shrug.
"So, what should we do now?" asked Odd. "I can't deactivate the tower, I'm useless."
Harry focused on the green cloud approaching them before seeing the two monsters behind it.
"I think me and William should hightail it."
"Uh, Why?" asked William.
"Well, unless you fancy getting possessed again, we should really go. The spectre's with the Scyphozoas."
The two looked in the same direction Harry was looking in and William started to tremble slightly.
"Come on William. This isn't the time to freeze up." Harry tugged on him and he started to move. The two ran as the spectre chased them.
"I'll devirtualise all of you. We'll deal with the spectre later." Jeremy typed away but nothing happened. "Oh no. the scanners are down!"
"Oh no," moaned William. "I'm going to be possessed."
"Well, I'm not going to let that happen," said Harry as he continued to drag William away.
"Sissi, Luna do you think you can have a look?"
"Uh, Jeremy, no offence but we don't know mechanical engineering," protested Sissi.
"Try to do something otherwise, well, you'll know what will happen. Harry and William can't run forever."
The two entered the elevator.
"Jeremy? Is something wrong?" asked Odd. "We're still here."
"Odd, we're having a big problem. The scanners are temporarily down," explained Jeremy.
"You mean, we're stuck here?"
"Right now, yes but we'll fix the problem," reassured Jeremy. "We'll fix it."
The spectre caught up to the two and surrounded them.
"Oh no," muttered Harry as he skidded to a halt. "What to do now… I don't think there's anything I can do…"
The spectre closed in on them and they collapsed. The spectre shot away, leaving the two boys.
"Not them as well," groaned Jeremy then he noticed that Yumi was moving. "Yumi? What's going on? Odd, Yumi is moving on my screen. You have to go and take a look. I'll send you the Overboard."
"Ok Jeremy," said Odd as he jumped on the Overboard after a glance at Ulrich. "What are the coordinates?"
"Currently one hundred and twenty degrees west but she keeps moving." Odd zoomed off in that direction. "Odd, you're almost there. You should see her soon."
Odd stopped. "Jeremy, Yumi isn't moving. The spectre is dragging her. That means that it got to Harry and William."
"They're heading towards the digital sea!"
"I'll take care of that thing right now," said a determined Odd.
"No, it would be too risky. It hasn't noticed you yet, let's try to take advantage of that."
"But we've got to do something Jeremy," protested Odd as he followed them. "Otherwise Yumi will be a goner!"
"Think, think! Odd, I know what we're going to do. I'll activate a way tower."
"A way tower?" asked Odd.
"Even with no code, you can get to the interface inside it. Once you're there, I'll inject you with all the codes I could steal."
"Awesome Einstein! Let's hope it will work!"
"The tower is located at forty nine degrees north. Hurry up Odd!"
Odd zoomed off.
"Luna, Sissi, have you found anything yet?"
"The cables are damaged," said Luna. "I might be able to fix them. I saw Harry do it once."
"Ok, keep me updated."
"Tower in sight Jeremy," called Odd.
"Perfect! Rush to it!"
Odd jumped into it and rose to the second platform.
"I'm ready Jeremy. What should I do now?"
"Put you hand on the interface. I'll transfer the codes to you."
"Ok." Odd touched it as Jeremy typed. "That's great Odd! It works!"
"Jeremy, I can feel some sort of heat wave in my body," commented Odd. "It's incredible."
"Ok, you're fully loaded now."
"Great! Now I'll hurry and deactivate the tower."
He jumped off the platform. The spectre dropped Yumi and shot towards him.
"Oh no. no, no! Odd, the spectre's chasing you now!"
"What?" asked a surprised Odd as he jumped on the Overboard. "And how are Harry and William? Did the Scyphozoas get to them yet?"
"They're getting close to them and the spectre must have noticed your codes. You have to hurry."
"Damn it." Odd flew as fast as he could as the spectre chased him before trying to shake it. "Jeremy, I won't be able to hold on very long, I can't lose it."
"Hold out. You're our last hope. Luna, Sissi, where are you with those cables?"
"We're doing our best," called Sissi. "This isn't exactly easy as we don't have much of an idea how to do this."
Odd jumped off the Overboard as the spectre attacked it before running into the tower. He ran to the interface.
"Ok, I'm ready."
"Great, you really rock."
Odd touched the interface before looking around.
"Oh no, the spectre can enter the tower!" he quickly typed in the code. "Come on."
The spectre exploded as it reached him.
Scanners
Harry and William collapsed as Sissi and Luna caught them.
"Oh, I have one massive headache," moaned Harry. "At least we didn't get caught."
Odd, Ulrich and Yumi appeared as Luna and Sissi realised them and William caught Yumi.
"What happened?"
"It's a bit of a long story," said Sissi.
Lab
"So, you agree with me Jeremy that that was the first and last time we will ever try to catch a spectre," said Ulrich.
"I wasn't expecting it to be that bad," admitted Jeremy. "I also wasn't expecting the Scyphozoas to turn up."
"It just shoes that Xana is getting stronger," said Harry with a sigh.
"The good news is that I'm no longer a codeless," said Odd. "Granted 4% is not much but it's better than nothing."
"The real good news is that Xana was weakened," corrected Jeremy. "It will give Aelita time to look for her mother."
"To celebrate that, how about a little siesta?" suggested Odd. Everyone laughed. "What? Don't you like siestas?"
Kadic
Jeremy pushed Aelita's door open. "I've got some good news. Odd is no longer codeless and Xana's power has been reduced."
"Come in, I have something to show you." Jeremy closed the door behind him and walked over to her. "Look, I've got hundreds of replies. No trail yet but that's incredible. A solidarity chain is being created to help me find my mother."
"That's incredible. You have plenty of virtual friends who will help you."
"I also have some real friends who are always there when I need them." She smiled. "All this gives me incredible strength."
"We'll find her," reassured Jeremy. "I'm sure of it. We'll find her."
