"Emily," she waited for the redhead to scurry in, "I need you to make room in my schedule for an afternoon appointment today without Andréa knowing. I'm not sure how long it will take so block out the afternoon. That's all." The editor looked back down to the work in front of her but felt that her assistant had not left quite yet. "What?"
"It's just you have a meeting with the beauty department and a call from Valentino to discuss the pages you wanted to use for him…" Emily stopped. "Right I will just reschedule all of it for…"
"Make it an early morning tomorrow I forgot all about Massimo. See if Serena could come up now for our meeting so we can get it done." Miranda looked back down once more. "That's all Emily," she smirked hearing the girl scurry out.
"Serena! Miranda wants you up here now for your meeting!" she didn't even wait for the greeting. "NO! Now Serena she moved it up!" She hung up quickly and dialed another number. "Yes this is Emily from Miranda Priestley's office; I was calling to see if we could move her meeting with Valentino to Tomorrow morning at 7? She has had an emergency come up and must have the afternoon free." Emily smiled hearing the assistant move around to get everything accomplished. When Miranda moved the whole earth moved, that was how she stayed on top all these years. "Of course thank you so much," and she hung up the phone just as Andréa and Serena both walked in.
Just seconds before the women walked into the office Serena bumped into Andréa as they reached for the door at the same time. Seeing the cuff on Andy's wrist Serena grabbed her hand and brought it up to her face. "Andy! I did not know you were Amazon," she hissed. "This is a bonding bracelet woman but I thought… oh your highness a thousand apologies." Serena noticed the royal crest woven into the pattern on the bracelet.
"It's alright Serena I don't much care for ceremony, especially from another royal your highness." Andy wiggled her eyebrows at the woman. "Yeah I know all about you darling runaway. You need to tell Emily though. You know how she gets with change and new information about her own life."
"I know. My amorzao is a little high maintenance. I wish I could tell her but I am afraid she will not accept our way of life and she will have to bulk up because no Amazon looks like a stick." Serena sighed looking through the glass at the tiny red head. "Anyway who has received the other end of your mating bracelet?" The brunette shook her head allowing her silver streak to shine through a bit. "Miranda? I knew there was something between the two of you. I am happy for you Andy." Serena laid her hand gently on Andy's arm before turning and opening the door to enter the office.
2:45 brought Miranda to the steps outside the Temple. She took out her bonding bracelet and the necklace Andréa had given her in case she needed to prove she was Amazon. Sitting there trying to decide if this was the right way and time to go about speaking with her mother, wondering if the goddess would even show up at her request. A hand coming from the outside of the car startled her from her thoughts. "Miranda, welcome back to the Temple."
"Thank you Elania, is there anyone else here?" Miranda smiled at hearing the girl remembered her.
"No ma'am, we don't get much traffic after midday tidings." The girl smiled at the editor. "The Goddess is expecting you there are leathers in this room here please let me know if you need anything else." She bowed and backed away returning to the temple entrance.
Miranda dressed in the softest leathers she had ever seen. The fawn skirt was simple with a silver moon belt and buckle. Her top was longer but still cut high across her midriff with fringe covering the front. The fashion maven was in awe of the artisanship of the outfit and her editor mind started to draw up an article on all leather clothing even as she affixed her bracelet and necklace before leaving the room for the inner temple.
"Artemis this humble daughter asks for your presence. Dite if you could please join us." Miranda whispered afraid her call would go unanswered but Elania had said she was expected.
A bright flash of gold sparkles and a glimmer of silver alerted the woman of the arrival of the goddesses. She knelt but couldn't help but notice that her mother was being helped by the blonde to recline on a chase. Artemis looked worse for wear, and Miranda jumped quickly to her side to help.
"Hey Dragon," Aphrodite greeted the woman with a gentle smile as she settled her sister. "We have been waiting on you. Xena told you about Rea huh?" The goddess smiled again and sat down beside the editor.
"Hey Aphrodite. Artemis, what's going on?" Miranda grabbed Artemis's hand. "I have so many questions but I don't know where to start." She looked into the goddess's eyes trying to read behind the mask.
"I'm dying daughter." Artemis cupped Miranda's cheek. "Velasca's return marks the end of my time in this form. This is why I ask for your help. When my life ends, I will have but one chance to return but timing must be just right. You are immortal because your daughters' birth took your life but with my help, you were returned to this realm. Andréa has yet to cross Celesta to be returned to this life as an immortal."
"Xena said something like that, but Mother I'm so confused. How does Andréa become immortal without dying? And how does all of this have anything to do with helping you?" once the questions started Miranda felt a hundred more take their place in her head.
"Miranda," Aphrodite waited for the woman to look at her, "there is a ritual that can take place in the Amazon land of the dead that can accomplish both Artemis's return to this realm and turn Andréa into an immortal but it must take place together," the goddess was somber. "They will both need your help you will have to be their tie to this realm when the ritual begins to take place. As the ritual draws closer, you will be taught all you need to do. There is nothing to worry about the ritual is easy on this end, but you must really connect with both Arte and Rea here before it begins so they can use you as a tether to draw them back."
"I understand," Miranda didn't know how she did but as the goddess of love spoke, the questions in her mind subsided and she was put at peace mentally about the upcoming ritual.
She spent the rest of the afternoon in the temple getting to know the goddesses and bonding with the mother she never knew. When she got home, she felt much more at peace with her life and how crazy it had become ever since her second assistant showed up in her life.
