Robin wanted to feel, at least for a moment, a of elevation.
I'm such an idiot, she thought.
She took deep breaths, in and out, seeking some sort of escape from the tense feeling that overwhelmed her body. Her muscles were stiff, and her back ached. Yet, there was something that was still so exhilarating about her whole ordeal.
"Hmm? Are you okay, love?"
Ah, Lucina.
Robin stayed lying on a tattered bed, as she tilted her head to look up at the princess with the most gorgeous eyes in the world.
"Y-yeah." Robin winced, "I'm just a little sore."
It hadn't been very long since Lucina and the army's tactician got together, about three weeks. They were still very awkward around each other, which was to be expected of two individuals who hadn't truly figured out what love was. It also didn't help that the two shared a looming anxiety in regards to their relationship, at least with their homosexuality. And don't get get Robin started on how the situation will change her friendship with Ylisse's beloved ruler, Chrom.
Robin figured that if she could keep it together for just a little longer, she could stay sane.
Eventually, after some odd exchanges of glances, Lucina ended up lying next to Robin, attempting to cuddle with her.
"Robin, it will be okay." Lucina said as if she read the other's mind.
Robin hoped so.
Walhart emitted a scream so powerful that it could have shattered the Earth. With the collapse of the Conqueror's steed and the impact of the Wolf Berg landing on the battlefield, Chrom hoped that the battle would be Walhart's last.
With reclaiming Vert, the gemstone that was originally in possession of the Chon'sin dynasty, the Fire Emblem came closer and closer to becoming one whole. However that meant with the attempt of completing the Awakening, Chrom would likely not survive. If Chrom did not have the strength to withstand being engulfed with Naga's sacred embers, then he would die.
Lucina and Robin opposed the act, Lucina stating that she had saved him once and she was not about to let him sacrifice himself.
Whether or not Chrom was set on doing it, well, not even Robin could tell what her best friend was thinking.
Right. Her best friend.
Lucina woke up in a panicked sweat, gasping after awaking from yet another nightmare.
The fell dragon, Grima, haunted her for ages.
She wasn't strong enough then, and she was sure she still wasn't strong enough. Especially since she had suspicions about her new lover. Hell, she always had her suspicions but she never wanted to act upon them. The situation was becoming more dire by the day. She tried to shake off her anxiety, thinking that it would go away when she knew it wouldn't.
Lucina bit her lip. She was right.
She glanced at Robin, the woman that she tried so hard to deny feelings for, the woman that kept her going, the woman that made her feel like she wasn't a princess.
"Robin?"
Robin's smile made Lucina's stomach fill with butterflies. How could she not be overwhelmed with warmth after seeing a grin plastered on Robin's face? She blinked twice to shake herself out of it.
"Lucina, I love you, you know that?"
I do. Please don't make this difficult.
"You made me so happy."
You make me happy.
"Please, please...
Don't say it.
kill me."
I can't.
"Lucina, please kill me."
You can't wish for that.
Lucina looked at Robin the eyes, seeing her smile still on her face. It made her want to throw up.
"Luci - " Robin said, pulling her into a hug. "It's okay. You can cry if you want to."
Lucina bawled.
"G-good job, Lucina." Robin coughed, as she kept her grip on Lucina's hands, helping her plunge Falchion into its desired target.
Robin screamed.
Lucina stopped.
"K-kill me." Robin demanded. "Kill me."
Lucina looked in horror at both of their hands, soaked in blood.
"Lucina, you told me yourself that Falchion will only cut if its user is of the royal blood, and is able to wield it.
Stop.
So please...I want you to."
She led Lucina's hands to Falchion's hilt, and asked her to try again.
"I love you."
Lissa looked at her niece who was sitting beside a beside a bedridden Robin.
She noticed her puffy eyes and her cheeks stained with tears.
"I love her, Aunt Lissa."
She had remembered Lucina's confession that night clearly.
Lucina was in distress; she was heartbroken, confused, frustrated, and guilty all at once.
Lucina had witnessed her lover willingly attempt suicide.
Author's note: So I suppose I owe you guys an explanation for being gone for ~10 months. I'm really sorry. I promised that I wouldn't leave this fic, and yet that's what I happened to do. The Girl Behind the name Marth will likely only have two or three chapters left due to my lack of time to update this fic. Again, apologies to all that I may have disappointed. I hope to do the best that I can in the last few chapters. College is really busy, and because of it, I don't really have time to be writing outside of my classes.
Thank you to all who have subscribed or written reviews in this span of time, I really appreciate it. This fic's three year anniversary is coming in about two weeks, and I'm really shocked that it's been that long. Hopefully I'll see you guys in the next chapter! (It will be less than ten months this time lol)
